So I apologize to the staff for not making this sooner...I brought in my dog to be euthenized late in the evening...they set up a room for us with a candle and pull down the shades...we had all the time we wanted with him before they even inserted a IV....then we were never rushed out!....I rescue cats so I have come in with two stray cats and one was hit by a car...as I walked in and the poor thing was crying in pain they ran to take him from my arms... rushed to get him the care he needed...it was like watching a medical show....within seconds there was atleast 6 people working to stabilize him....unfortunately his injuries were so severe he did not make it...it doesn't matter who I see there as I've been there maybe 4 times this year alone....they are all WONDERFUL.....from the front desk to the actual doctors....I wouldn't go anywhere else read more

I had a professional, calm and caring experience at VEG in Williamsburg this morning. Our dog was attacked by another dog, his wounds needed to be looked at and treated for cuts and bruises. The staff was welcoming, informative and walk me through everything that they were doing in in terms of treatment. The center was clean and well appointed. The doctor and staff walk me through discharge notes, information about the medicine prescribed, what to look for if there were complications and provided me with a full report. We brought our poor baby girl dog here on the Friday before NYE because she had an impacted anal gland. Since we've never dealt with that before we were very worried when we found it. Earlier in the day we had tried to take her to Blue Pearl hospital but they had no staff (nuts) and the receptionist said it was probably better to wait until Monday and go to our vet. She did however give us a list of other pet hospitals and VEG was on it. Later that evening the dog's gland burst so we took her to VEG. I am so glad we did, everyone was so nice and calm, they were were really empathetic to us and so sweet with our dog. Check in was quick and sent to my phone so we were able to sit with our dog while waiting to be seen by the doc. We had 2 doctors and a nurse who supported us. Again really sweet, answered all our questions and ensured us that this was a common thing for dogs. They walked us through the treatment and aftercare. I really appreciated that the bill was itemized and the doctor walked us through it, I felt it was reasonable and much cheaper than I expected. This will definitely be our go to for any emergencies. read more

I was referred here by another animal hospital that was unable to fit my cat in. We arrived at about 9:30 am and were immediately taken in. My cat was displaying some stomach issues. The entire staff was incredible. You can tell they truly care for the animals they help. Luckily, everything with my cat worked out and he's home on the mend. I highly recommend VEG to anyone who needs emergency pet care. I can not thank the team enough for their excellent care today. read more

The staff and doctors were so attentive to my feral cat, MJ, that was hit by a car. She was pronounced dead on arrival. I really thank them for giving me a room to grieve my lose. They also provided a coffin for MJs burial. I later recieved a sympathy card from the staff which showed a level of caring that was greatly appreciated. read more

I brought my cat in for an emergency visit when he had blood in his urine. My cat made a furball mess in his carrier on our car ride and they cleaned it up for me without hesitation. The nurse was very sweet about my financial situation and helped me understand what was recommended vs what we could do to cut down coats while still getting our answers. She was great and sweet with my cat during the check up and while the news ended up being awful, she took the time to run extra tests to try and find answers I don't think she even really needed to since I was referred to a specialist. I really appreciate the empathy from everyone when giving me the diagnosis and I would definitely recommend them for emergency services. read more

We came in late at night after my cat started peeing blood and most everyone we encountered was so kind, honest, and lovely to work with. In particular I want to shout out Dr. Thea Madill. She was so kind and calming when dealing with both my cat and myself, she kept us as calm as possible during an unavoidably stressful situation. Knowing that I was concerned about cost of the visit she was so up front and honest about how much things would cost before anything was done and about what truly needed to be done at VEG in an emergency manner and what could wait to be done at a lower cost by my primary vet. Thanks to her transparency I was able to have tests run at my primary vet at a cost of several hundred dollars lower, which provided me the ability to run tests that would have otherwise been completely cost prohibitive for me. My primary care vet actually asked where we went and said "that's one of the good ones, most ER vets would not be so honest with you." The overwhelming feeling was that everyone here cared more about getting my cat the best care she could receive than they did about their bottom line, it makes me feel good about the kind of people that go into veterinary care! I will say the one notable exception to our generally positive (as can be in an emergency medical situation) experience was one nurse who approached us with an immediately irritated and aggressive demeanor. The way she handled and spoke to my cat and myself clearly increased the stress levels in us both and while I understand that her work must be exhausting and stressful she seriously needs to work on her bedside manner. However, seeing the situation other staff were quick to step in with a calming word and hand so this was at the end of the day a very brief exception to a generally caring and empathetic emergency vet experience. read more

I used to always bring my fur baby here wherever he had health issues because I believed they truly care for animals.However, I did not realize that they only pretend to care when money is involved. I never had any financial issues in the past as I do now. This week specifically has been hard and I am barely making it as it is. Which is why I didn't know the lack of humanity these company has when it comes to save dogs lives until today. I was always able to pay their fees up front until today. My fur baby has an emergency today and I called before I went to see if they could see him and bill me later since I did not have the money they were asking for. Veterinary Emergency clinics will not see or help and dying dog without being paid upfront. I offered to leave my ID and my SSN as proof I would return in the next few days to pay the bill since I am desperate and my dog is so sick. I was told that I needed to pay upfront or else he can not be seen or helped. Even though they have knowledge of his health issues and I have never asked them for this for they did not care enough to help him. Even though they understand the severity of the problem they are not willing to work with or help anyone who can not pay up front. I understand that a business is a business however when it comes a life there should be some humanity. This business does not care if your pet lives or dies as long as they get paid. If they can't get paid they'll sit back and watch your pet die with no remorse. read more

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND CARE!!! The facility is extremely clean and they let you wait with your pet. My dog was having a lot of dental pain and I couldn't get her into our vet for a few days. They prescribed a pain reliever to tide her over (they don't do dental). Dr. Mark is so gentle and kind/ the reception staff is kind. I highly recommend. read more

They were compassionate with my cat and explained his condition to me in very clear detail, including advice based on their own experience as pet owners. I took sweet buddy in for an emergency visit the other day when my regular vet was closed. Dr. Jacobson was great, as were all of the staff. Was seen immediately and felt like they actually cared about my pet and were competent. Price seemed a bit steep, but I don't think anybody has ever left an emergency vet and exclaimed "damn, what a bargain!!!" They are definitely on my speed dial, though I hope I never return. read more

This hospital and All of the staff are amazing. My cat widdleman showed signs of being blocked at 3 AM yesterday. Within 5 minutes I was able to get an appointment and get him in as soon as I could. The took good care of my widdleman. I was able to see everything that was going on, he was comfortable I was comfortable. It help me relax knowing they were providing the best care for my cat and that right there was the most important thing for me. I have had quite the experience here tonight. A little back story, I called VEG because I came home to find that my dog ingested hand warmers. They tell me "okay you need to call ASPCA Poison Control" so I do that and pay $95 for a consultation with someone and get a case number and get told to come to VEG asap. I take an Uber there, (freaking out btw) - get to the place and I'm having trouble opening the door... again I've never been here before and I'm freaking out on top of that, have my dog in my arms so I'm literally panicking at this point and I make eye contact with the receptionist (tall African American man with glasses) and I'm pointing at the door, while looking at him and doing that over and over and over and the man proceeds to look at me like :| and continue being on the computer.. so at this point I'm livid, and I decide to call... the man picks up and I'm like I'm outside could you please open the door? To which he replies "ummm........... it's unlocked" and so I said well I've never been here before so maybe since I'm already looking at you and I'm panicking - you could maybe fucking let me know next time? And then I hung up...so I get inside and I tell him I'm having an emergency, my dog ate hot hands ... he says "did you call the poison control?" I said yes and I have a case number. . He takes my dogs weight and then says "I'll let them know" (no urgency at this place btw) more on that later though. So then a vet assistant walks over (gabby?) and is like aww what's going on with him? About my dog so I tell her, she tries taking his pulse and he has so much anxiety from the Uber, what happened and being at the vet that she just can't... after that she's like okay so let's turn him around... okay I still can't get his pulse and I'm like yeah that's how he is... he's not going to calm down. Then another assistant comes out and tries doing the same thing, then says "yeah it's going to be impossible to get his pulse with him panting like that haha" and the whole time I'm like I don't find any of this shit funny. But ok. Anyway, they take us inside and WTF . That place makes you feel like you're on a reality tv show. Doctors, nurses, assistants.. patients, patients parents ... EVERYONE all in the same room????? I've never seen such a thing before. I see a puppy being induced for vomiting, I see a dog on seizure watch... I see a dog with a tube in his nose, other dogs in actual rooms... I felt UNCOMFORTABLE to say the very least. . So get this; gabby tells me to have a seat and the doctor will be with me shortly. In the meantime she gives me this large red ice pack and puts it on my lap with a towel under to cover my legs and tells me "try to get him to lay on here so his fever could reduce" and I'm like "ok but he's not going to calm down that's literally how he is"... but whatever so I do it and then she comes back and he's just sitting on me and I told her "yeah I couldn't get him to stay" and the doctor comes around and is like "that's ok" and she's super nice and talking to me about the next steps after she got off the phone with poison control and she's like I'm going to send you a text to consent to with the prices of everything - he's going to need bloodwork and medications and I'm like okay ... I receive the text and $1,020.14 later, my dog is still not being seen by the nurse. . And so the doctor says to the nurse "my dogs name" and she's like oh right DUH, then finally takes him to get bloodwork done. I'm told it will take 45 minutes for the results and that's what I expected to wait. So I sit down on the side bench... and wait, 10 mins pass and another person comes up to me but this time to explain the medication and then says "the doctor prefers to do discharge through email" so after your payment, you're free to go and I'm like "I already paid and the doctor told me to wait for the bloodwork results" and then the persons like ohhhhhh okay I didn't know that I'm so sorry and I'm like it's ok... she goes to speak to the doctor and the doctor comes back saying "bloodwork is perfect, if he throws up or has any diarrhea call us but you're free to go" and I'm like "wait what? I thought you said 45 minutes?" And she goes "I like to overestimate" so I'm like okay. So I got up, ordered my Uber and walked the fuck up outta there. I will never in my lifetime return. Excelente staff , they answer all your questions , they have patience with animals I have no words to describe how good everyone are.

The entire staff and doctors here are kind, empathetic, and skillful. And they let you stay with your pet, even overnight--they even have a private room with a trundle bed and you can spend the night with your pet if they're stable. I'm a helicopter pet parent and they never acted annoyed or dismissive about my questions. They also independently communicated with my dog's GP and got all her records and consulted with other facilities and sent her records to them in case she needed to be transferred. All of the things it's harder to do when you're the pet owner and very burdensome when you're distraught about your pet's situation. This kind of compassion thoughtfulness, and pro-active care makes an awful time less awful and probably saves some the lives of many pets who would die under less attentive observation. Nothing but love for the dedicated professionals here. To the people who are complaining about how expensive it is and/or getting bad results, all I can say is: why would medical care be cheap? Have you ever gone to a human ER of gotten medical care beyond an annual physical? This ER costs way less than the human ones and these folks go through just as much training as human doctors--and, in this particular location, the practice pays rent in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in NYC currently. And. none of the costs are a surprise, they give you estimates and you sign a consent form before they do anything. And, despite all of this, yeah, sometimes pets die. And, while I was there, I saw another pet parent having to go through that in real time and 100% the staff were incredibly caring and thoughtful about it. So, if anyone is on here saying the staff and doctors at this ER are unhelpful or uncaring, they're probably speaking out of hurt and grief and I can assure you, it's not facts. read more

Okay I don't know how to stress this review enough. I'm not a Karen snitching on when my food was Luke warm and 20 mins late. I hate Yelp for that reason. I wouldn't even waste my time to write a review about terrible shit or service, I'd just never patron that place again. My sweet angel of a dog was sick with severe allergies his entire life since a puppy at 3 months old... he lived until 11. I have paid a small fortune for his well-being. I have been to multiple vets and specialists (my last review had to be made) what a horrible person and place and circumstances that was.. okay I'm still emotional...all I want to say is that the entire staff from the moment we walked in was so helpful and accommodating. I didn't get many names bc I was in a daze of a horrible situation, but I just want to thank everyone there for being so kind and honest and made a hard time for me much easier. I was enticed to write this review bc his ashes were returned today and when I called for set time to pick up remains, the sweetest person who answered the phone named Aries knew automatically my and my dogs name and was so helpful. I know that seems like such a minor detail, but having a sickly dog for 11 years, the amount of vets and hospitals we went thru and the amount of calls answered by WHO. WHAT. WHATS YOUR NAME. WHATS THEIR NAME ETC was horrifying. These people really care about you and your pet... first time I didn't feel like it was just a cost or number or work to people. We brought our dog in with what turned out to be pink eye and they charge $117 for the medication--the exact same is on Chewy for $25. The individual workers themselves are very kind and she gave us a slight discount on the visit but gouging like this is unacceptable. There's just no reason for it. Would give zero stars if i could. I came in here desperate as my dog was having respiratory distress. we got there and the receptionist was very nice, he told us to sit and wait for the doctor to see us. we were then greeted by a veterinary technician who led us to the room and proceeded to take my dogs vitals. we explained the issue to her and she started to look inside his mouth and discovered a blockage . she left to get the doctor and they both came back in and were examining it. Upon further examination it was discovered to be a mass. The doctor didn't explain much about treatment options instead we were told that the only thing we could do is make him comfortable until he passes away. they then told us to check our phone for the bill and didn't give us any further treatment or conversation until we did (super insensitive and very unprofessional). after we paid $600 for the medication the nurse came back into the room and said "this isn't a death sentence today, but you should prepare for it" (wtf.) she told us to dress our very obviously sick and suffering dog in halloween costumes and have fun with him until he passed away. Overall they were just super insensitive and very very VERY un-empathetic towards our situation. We visited another vet clinic who, even though they told us the same news, gave an EXTREMELY empathetic response and explained to us the treatment options until we eventually decided to put him down. My experience at Veterinary Emergency Group was terrible and i don't think i will ever visit again read more

I visited this vet back in march, my dog was not able to pee due to bladder stones. It was such a stressful night for me and my family but the staff here were so calming and reassuring. I cannot recommend this place enough! I unfortunately don't remember the name of the Doctor who attended us but he was so helpful and explained the whole process to us. I loved that he did all procures in front of us so we could comfort our baby. Long story short this veterinary saved my baby's life and I can't be anymore grateful. Thank you so much! read more

I should've written this review months ago. This happened to my cat Felix on Thanksgiving morning in the middle of the night. I woke up to find my cat was hiding in the dock not responsive, not moving not eating not drinking not going to the bathroom when I put him on my bed, he did not move. I began looking for emergency hospitals. I found this one got into the car drove to Brooklyn with the cat. They gave him a bunch of tests. They couldn't find anything wrong. They gave him a shot he said he was. dehydrated I brought him home on Friday. He had not eaten, drank gone to the bathroom. He just laid on my bed and did not move. I brought him back they gave him more tests and after spending $2500 they could not find exactly the quads they said I could leave him at the hospital at approximately $2000 a day I declined. I bought him home. I figured I would take him to the vet next week and have them put down. He did not seem like he was in any pain, but he was still totally unresponsive. to make this very long story a little shorter on Saturday he began to eat. He began to drink. He began to go to the bathroom, and by Sunday he would not have known that he was sick. We are now in my second home in Las Vegas where I brought him on December 5 he and his brother are doing absolutely fine. I just don't know whether I would bring an animal to this hospital again cause me a lot of money for them to find out nothing. As I think about it now, I am really not happy with their services I tried to post on their website, but I had no success. I gave them ones tomorrow and that was all you do. I can't point anything they did wrong, but they certainly did not help me. read more
