Our office uses Vega Cafe constantly...fresh food, small business owned...we are regulars! Love it

We were waiting for the pizza to arrive at a kid's party at sky zone and couldn't take it any more. Kitty corner from Sky Zone is Vega Caffe, which is sort of like a dressed up taqueria. They had Italian café art on the wall, but the menu was Mexican. I'm not sure what that was all about. We had the carne asada fries. They were pretty good. You got tons of meat, which is always appreciated. It comes with cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. You can get hot sauce on it if you want (Red or green). The only complaint I had was that they use steak fries as the fries. My wife loved it, but steak fries are just not my thing. Overall the asada fries were tasty and a good value and just a hair over $6 after tax. I would go again. read more

I am a Kaiser employee and we have been ordering for Vega Cafe for over 10 years and I have no idea why we're still continue to order from them I have had several bad experiences over the years when I have forgotten my lunch ordering from Vega Cafe but today topped it. I ordered an egg potato and cheese burrito for lunch and I was extremely hungry started eating and crunched on a eggshell that was the first thing that I encountered I gave it a chance kept eating second thing I encountered was a long black hair got really grossed out but I was so hungry I kept eating and started to eat the second half of the burrito cuz I threw the first half away which was the one I found the heron and then I got something black and crunchy in the burrito which I'm not sure what that was but I just feel like they should do a much better job in their quality of their food their food has no flavor the bread from their sandwiches falls apart when you're eating it and your hands it's so dry it's just gross and I'm sorry but I really wish we didn't order from them anymore. I started ordering from VEGA CAFFE over a year ago after trying their food at a family party. It was really good, probably the best around the area. Since then I have been ordering probably twice a month and ever since, food and service has been dropping steadily, to a point that food has no seasoning at all, burritos are guacamole-less now, beef flautas are almost beef-free , servings are smaller and service is not good any more. I have been giving them several opportunities, but today the cherry topped the cake. Terrible....time to move on.... read more

I just entered Vega Cafe. Stood at the counter. There was no one else in the restaurant. The women working the counter never acknowledged me. She fiddled around with items in the refrigerator, but never said a word to me. There was a male, guessing a cook, was chatting with another co-worker and never acknowledged me. I set my grudge aside and went back a couple of times recently. The jackass that got my order wrong twice was nowhere in sight on either visit, so I am putting Vega back into my rotation. The service was friendly on both visits. On the first visit I ordered a breakfast burrito and enjoyed it very much. On my most recent visit I carried out a shredded beef torta. I've been to some places where they don't recommend carry-out on certain items (Lefty's Pizza's menu notes "Our fries are best enjoyed in house."), and, holy moly, do I really get why. This sandwich does not travel well. I don't think it would have been a great sandwich if eaten there, but the 2.5-mile drive home did it no favors. I didn't enjoy it at all. The meat became fused to the lower bun, the veggies turned the temperature of meat and, although toasted, the roll didn't have a hint of crunch remaining. They do have menu items I thoroughly enjoy, so I'm adding back one star for that, and the absence of the idiot who bungled my orders. read more

So far everything we have tried has been amazing. The food portions are generous. The flavour feels more homemade than the Lolitas taco shop that's across the street. The coffee there is delicious. Wish I had photos of the food, but I'm always too hungry to take photos of them. It's a great alternative to Lolitas, especially with the limited selection of nearby restaurants in the plaza. Prices are fair, more towards the high-end of the spectrum though, however considering that the portions are hardy, that's why I say they are fair. It would've been 5 stars of it wasn't for the female cashier. She is by no means rude, behaves with a professional demeanor, however, all the times we have visited she is always in a visible bad mood. Again, she isn't rude, but it does take away from a friendly, fulfilling and welcoming atmosphere. I understand we all can't be happy all the time, might just be her personality. We were in the area and looking for Mexican food. We found Vega Caffe on Yelp and thought it was a cool mix of a fruteria and taco shop. We ordered a torta, pollo asado fries, kids chicken strips with fresh fruit, and an agua fresca. We all enjoyed our food. Like really enjoyed it! Our toddler gobbled up his food. The torta was made with crusty bread, and the ratio of meat, toppings and bread was just right. I was pleasantly surprised that the fries aren't the skinny, premade kind that you get everywhere else... Instead they are hand cut and taste like a cross between fries and potato wedges. So good! The salads here are delicious and tasty!!! The Cobb is stuffed full of bacon and egg and avocado and is very filling! My favorite so far is the Mandarin Chicken, the sweet oranges, feta cheese and crispy noodle toppings are the perfect combination with the tangy but light dressing. The medium is plenty and is only $6.95!!! The sandwiches are also very hearty and come with a lot of meat! I order from here when I'm at work, and I love to treat my staff....we are now big fans of Vega Caffe!!! read more

I have been here a couple of times and every time has been good. Last time I went there for a breakfast burrito and it was huge and very tasty. I took some carrots and jalapeño in vinegar and this are really good not sweat as other places. I also order a large chocomilk (chocolate smoothie with banana and egg I think) and it was great. In fact they ask me to drink almost like half to refill it again with the left over while I waited for the burrito. I work near this place now and I will be in my eating tour list. read more

I would have like this place since they had nice ambiance and appetizing pictures from the flyers. I ordered nacho cheese with extra jalapenos and fruit salad with the honey on the side. I got it for To-go and they handed me the nachos on a plate. The nachos are soaked in cheese and no longer crispy chips. The jalapeno was slice in whole and was not serve extra. Just 2 slice. And they forgot my fruit salad. So before i even get to my car. My nachos are already soak in cheese and no longer crispy. And my fruit salad was already chopped fruits that was not fresh at all. Waste of money! Would not even give them a chance again and will spread the word that this place is horrible with costumer service and food! read more

I love Vega! We stumbled upon them only by chance, because they ARE hidden, like other reviewers stated. It only took one visit to have me and my family hooked, though. Their Blast sandwich keeps me comin' back, and is extremely craveable. The Fruit Salad w/everything is another great treat, esepcially on those hot summer days when you want something refreshing and healthy to cool you down. Staff is polite and friendly, and on the right days when all their doors are open, the breeze that the building catches is heavenly. The only down side to Vega, is that there isn't one located near us since we had to move! We still visit as often as possible when we're in the neighborhood, though. read more
