I came here with a friend on a whim because the pictures looked good and we were blown away by how good the chick'n shawarma wrap was. Neither of us have seen a vegan shawarma before so we both decided to try it and it tastes just like non-vegan shawarma. It was made to order, the veggies and the wrap were super fresh, and the shawarma was perfectly seasoned with a hint of cinnamon. This is a diamond in the rough of a gem little restaurant Hideaway on St. Mark's Place on the lower East side. They open 4 months ago. My husband had fillet a fish sandwich with onion rings. This sandwich has thousand Island dressing, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, on a soft bun. it was So delicious! I wasn't crazy about the onion rings but that didn't even matter. We both had root beer to drink. I had a buffalo chicken wrap and I picked spinach as my wrap. It had tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and sautéed onions and you could choose from a blue cheese vegan dressing or a ranch or barbecue. I had it with french fries as well. For dessert we had a vegan très Leche and I think it was the best I've ever had Vegan or not.! Everything on the menu looks delicious and the service is great! Price Gauge! Keep an eye on the prices. Menu says $17 for a crunch wrap but it rang up $5 more. When I came in the cashier directed me to the menu. The price for a crunch wrap was $17. When She rang up the item it was $5 more. Legally the company has to sell the item at the listed price. I explained this to the cashier and she called her boss.. Aparently the price listed on the menu is the Uber Eats price as per her boss. This makes no sense.. plus a restaurant cant do a bait and switch with prices. After patiently waiting for about 15 minutes, we realized the order was incorrect. At that point - we had already left. As for the flavor, it was a bit on the sweet side--less savory than I thought it would be, but not in a bad way. Definitely a nuanced spice situation going on *chef's kiss.* I'm a bit of a maniac when it comes to hot sauce so I was LIVING for smoky, thick sawce they provided, and I think that was crucial to balance out the warmer, sweeter spices on the meat. Their large selection also includes chopped cheese, falafel, quesadillas, nachos, vegan mac&cheese, cookies and more. Truly, the menu is huge for such a tiny little space and I've never ordered something I didn't end up liking. I recommend getting the food to go. We've always eaten there, and that experience really depends on how busy they happen to be. Inside is close quarters and it seems like it's often partly occupied by people who are friends/family of the guy working there. Not a complaint, as the guy's service is always very good. He's been the one working the counter on all our visits. There are two outside tables on a small patio, and they seat three people each but it's a tight squeeze. It's the food from this hole-in-the-wall that makes it worthwhile -- they deliver on their promise of vegan fast food! Everyone can find something they'll like here, even non-vegans. read more

Meh. I was excited that a vegan cafe was opening in the neighborhood because we really need a casual take out vegan sandwich type spot. There are dozens of plant-based date night spots but no just cheap takeout. But their menu is fast food that should be cheap takeout except it's for dine in prices at a hole in the wall. Cheapest thing on the menu is a $10 plain burger. No cheese. No sides. $2 extra to "flame broil" the burger. The sandwich I got was unexceptional but fine and was $15. I get that Manhattan storefronts are expensive but I don't see this place staying open if they don't lower their prices or make their food significantly better. At least make a cheap lunch special. The have vegan breakfast stuff so if I go back it'll be to give that a try but honestly probably not going back.
