Let's take a popular, junk-food vegan truck and roll it into it's own brick and mortar and you get Vegan on the Fly. I first tried them when they were a truck and now happily enjoy this small, sit down shop where you can indulge in some tasty vegan comfort food. Note that this is not meant to be healthy but a once-in-a-while kind of situation. You order at the front before finding a seat in the back. I went with their loaded Mac n Cheese with shredded beef and it was a lot! Both in the quantity and also in taste. The cheesy flavors were on point and the mix of sauces with the mock meats made this quite a meal. I definitely had to share this with someone and could not finish it myself. While I enjoyed their food, I was disappointed that they didn't have a bathroom which means you'll have to find another business in the meantime.

Visited Vegan on The Fly recently because lunch time was coming around and the ratings on Yelp seemed pretty good. I got Mac and cheese a side salad and a jerk chicken gyro. It's a take out place with limited seating and it got pretty full so I knew the food would be good. The customer service was solid, as a new customer I had questions of which the young man answered readily and not appearing like I was annoying him. The side salad was a few lettuce, onions and tomatoes. I wasn't too impressed but I used these greens for my gyro. The Mac and cheese was pretty good for a vegan Mac n cheese, creamy and cheesy. The gyro was the main character!!! I intended to eat half but as I thought about how full my day would be and how good the gyro was I continued eating!!! It was full of jerk chicken (that's really not chicken at all lol) It was seasoned to perfection and the the sauce and the added veggie was a good and huge hit!!!! When I'm NYC again I will seek them out! Please try it. This is not a meal I could get often because it totaled to about $30 which is expensive for one persons take out in my opinion. It f you're thinking of going, go! Get the gyro!!You're welcome!! Sorry no pics of the food, ate in a rush!

I came to Vegan on The Fly for a work week lunch with a friend. The restaurant had a small seating area in the back and you order with the cashier up front. When I got there, there were no customers so I was able to pick up my food only a few minutes after ordering it. I got the platter. Flavor was great and I love how there was a good amount of salad on the side. I do wish there was some more variety to the platter (IE fries, pickles, etc) especially with how pricy it was (over 20$ after tax). All in all, a nice tasting item but quite pricy!

Leaving the house without eating, I find myself ready to eat well after breakfast in New York. So I find Vegan On The Fly, on my way. During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are kind and helpful with navigating the menu. The platter is so filling. Seitan is a good protein base. Even so, the entire meal is reminiscent of a Halal meal, for me. The white sauce with the crispy juicy salad mixing well with the Basmati and Seitan is really tasty, with just the right amount of flavorful spices seasoning to bolster the savoriness. The interior may sit between five to eight people reasonably. The establishment does not offer a bathroom for public use. The establishment accepts different forms of payment. The establishment appears to have a rewards program as well, check the establishment's website for more information.

Came with my cousin while we were visiting NYC and this place was a quick walk from our hotel. We got the falafel wrap, Nashville hot chicken sandwich, loaded fries with kofta, and an order of Mac and cheese. I would highly recommend getting food to go bc there's barely any seating inside. The service was quick and the food came out piping hot. I would recommend skipping the Mac and cheese bc it tastes like it was made with vanilla coffee creamer. The loaded fries (animal style ones) were absolutely a winner, as was the falafel wrap which you should definitely get extra white sauce on

I keep going back because the food and shakes are delicious! It's a very tiny place but worth it! The drumsticks are good. I love any Mac n cheese. But the best thing is the gyro! It's delicious!!

Vegan on the Fly 24 W. 45th. St. New York, NY 10036 Chopped Cheese Jerk Chicken Over Rice Nashville Hot Chicken Sándwich Grape Leaves Reese's PB Cup Milkshake Cookies & Cream Milkshake Appearance: Taste: 1/2 Conveniently located in Midtown is an upscale casual restaurant serving vegan street food. The look and taste of the plates are so authentic you won't even realize it's tofu! The only reason I knew the sandwiches, jerk chicken platter and dessert drinks were made with different ingredients is because of the neon pink sign out front. A couple of the items were served differently from what I'm accustomed to, but the taste still prevailed. The jerk chicken was Halal style with a side salad and white sauce. It was a unique combination of Jamaican and Islamic food, but I surprisingly liked it. Next time I'll be sure to request the sauce on the side as that's my personal preference. I explored the grape leaves side dish as an alternative to french fries. The first few bites were an adjustment to my taste buds. However, as soon as my buds adapted to this Lebanese delicacy, I really enjoyed the leaves. Katarina was on shift each time I visited. She and her crew do an excellent job maintaining the line! As a bonus, Kat even remembered my name! For those who never dined vegan, enter with an open mind and any reluctant thoughts you had will be left behind! #veganonthefly #veganfood #choppedcheese #jerkchicken #NashvilleHotChicken #grapeleaves #veganmilkshake #cookiesandcreammilkshake #chocolatepeanutbutter

I have been searching for these vegan wings ever since the bar thay had them in Seattle closed. They are the perfect texture and with amazing flavore and a sugar cane "bone" to make it more realistic. That may seem silly but it pulls it off well. We also tried to buy the other brand thay uses bamboo and those fall off to easily which makes it feel like your just eating food you stabbed with a chopstick. We got the combo of spicy and BBQ. Bith were amazing but the spicy ones scratched that itch just a but more. The service was pretty fast and friendly as well. Other than the neon sign, the atmosphere was nothing too special with a but if an awkward hallway before you get to the tiny room. All that being said they are totally worth it.

The vegan drumsticks were amazing. Half bbq half Buffalo was perfect combo. Definitely got some spice to it. There's some seats in the back, maybe 6. Ordering is from their app or a little terminal at the front. Very cute and convenient to stop in and grab a bite. No reservations needed.

We just got more food from here today, and I can say that it is out of this world good. 10/10 for the Jerk Chicken gyro- best gyro I have ever had!!!! Super happy to have tried this today as I am in a bad mood from the election results and this put me in a much better mood!!! Thank you My coworkers are saying "the falafel omg is really really good! I believe you guys now" "A for me, it's that good!" We will be getting this again in the very near future!!!!!!!!

If you blink you will miss the entrance, look for the pink sign. Fun place to go for a quick fast food style meal. There is ordering at a kiosk as you get inside, but can also order online ahead of time. The food came out quick and was brought to us. There are several seats for maybe 10 people at bars. It looks clean, but kind of has the smell of dirty dish water. The McRib sandwich would be more of a McRib inspired sandwich, tastes good and fresh. The gyro is nice, the tzatziki sauce was good for fries too. The fries are cooked perfect, but borderline too salty.

Have been meaning to try Vegan on the fly for a while and it didn't disappoint. The space is narrow with some casual seating in the back. They were out of wings but I was able to try the seitan platter. It was amazing! The seitan and rice was well flavored and it came with a nice side salad. Service was quick. Loved the food and will be back to try more!

If ever there were a reason to visit New York, aside from fam of course, this would be on the top of that list. I think about this spot so much and wish they had something similar in LA. The Chicken Platter is my go-to! Could have this everyday, and I think I just about did on my last trip. The flavors are amazing, the sauce to food ratio is proper, and the texture and freshness is on point. This spot should definitely get more praise among the Veggie community...I would absolutely vote this spot as a top 10 Vegan restaurant in the Nation, that's how fckin good it is. Vegan On The Fly, I will see you in 5 days...and I'm literally counting the days down!

There are a few locations, but I decided to visit this one because it was the most convenient for getting to and from home. I got there around 7:00 PM, which felt a little close to closing time since Google said they close at 9:00 PM, but it wasn't busy at all. In fact, I was only the third customer to place an order. I ordered the La Summer sandwich and added pesto. After sitting down and taking my first bite, I immediately understood the hype. Without a doubt, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time. I'm not even a huge sandwich person when it comes to subs and deli meats, but everything tasted incredibly fresh. The ingredients paired together perfectly, and you could still taste each one individually. The only thing I'd change next time is the meat. I had no idea prosciutto was a type of ham, but honestly, it didn't even taste like ham to me. It was sliced paper-thin, slightly salty, and worked surprisingly well with everything else. Next time, though, I'll probably add salami just to see how it compares. Overall, this sandwich was a solid 10/10, and I will absolutely be back--whether it's to try a different sandwich or, if we're being honest, order the exact same one again with salami added. I will say it's on the expensive side, but that's New York City for you. Apparently, all of the ingredients are flown in from Italy. After tax and tip, I paid a whopping $28 for a single sandwich. That said, it was incredibly filling and definitely kept me satisfied. The workers were also really nice and accommodating, and the indoor seating was beautiful. The atmosphere felt like a fancy Italian café, complete with couches and artwork throughout the space. I wish I had taken pictures, but honestly, I was too busy enjoying what might be the best sandwich I've had in years.

Google their name and "best" and get hundreds of hits, but the majors who crowned them "best sandwich" title include Saveur Magazine, the big one touted by the family; Eater NY, ranking La Paradiso the most elite Italian sandwich outside of Italy; Las Vegas Weekly, who crowned them "Home of the world's best sandwiches"; TripAdvisor, for whom the Italian original is the most reviewed eatery with a near perfect rating; and The Infatuation NYC guides who promise the execution of the crispy, airy schiacciata bread completely justifies the hype. All 17 options looked amazing, so I spoke to a regular in line, telling her I couldn't decide between "La Paradiso", the most praised (even though she informed me "mortadella is just bolonie" or the Hot Italian, which was more my style. So, I did what any gluttonous American would do and I got both. And a Diet Coke, of course. La Paradiso has thinly sliced bolonie for a savory base, with creamy shredded stacciatella cheese, with sweet but earthy pistachio cream, and a sprinkle of toasted pistachio for texture (that I didn't detect). It was good, but I will likely fuggedaboutit. The Hot Italian had thin, lean turkey, spicy and smoky spreadable Calabrian pork sausage, a balancing provolone, calabrian chili honey, and peppery arugula (that they claim adds crunch that I didn't detect). Were they life-changing? No. But I rank Paradiso a 8.8 and Hot Italian a 10. And because everyone is hard-working and everything is so freshly prepared and cut, it's a class act. They should seriously make a sign that says, "Can't decide? Get two!" and then give me free sandwiches on my yearly trips for the idea.
