I'm going to start this with- if you are a pizza purist then you are not going to like this spot. If you like fusion though...different story. One of my friends recently had Indian fusion pizza at their birthday party recently. Paneer tikka pizza? Manchurian pizza? Sounds weird, but the moment you take a bite..it's genius. The next day, I ordered a pie for myself because it was so good. Since I ordered the pizza for delivery, I can't speak much to the ambiance (although I'd like to go in person sometime). The delivery was on time. I got the paneer tikka masala pizza, it was SO good! The sauce goes unbelievably well with the mozz, and the paneer is so soft but perfectly firm. The onions and cilantro went phenomenal. Overall the entire taste experience is something people would write songs about. The crust itself was great- no complaints there. Overall, I like veggie crust and plan to try it again! I can't have gluten or dairy, so finding a place to accommodate both is tough - glad we found this spot. Also glad they have regular and specialty pizza. My boyfriend ordered the margarita pizza and added chicken. There were a good amount of toppings, and the crust looked good. He pointed out that it looked like the chicken was added after the pizza was cooked, and he wished the chicken had been roasted with the pizza. My GF pizza was good. There were a fair amount of toppings although I wish there was more cheese and sauce - I did pay for extra cheese but didn't really see it. I also ordered the 10' veggie crust and ended up with the 12' crust, which did include some dairy. Hopefully next time, I can get the right crust. Overall we plan to give this place another shot! SO YUM! Indian style pizza chains can be hit or miss, but Veggie Crust makes their Paneer Tikka Masala pizza perfectly! The sauce was delicious and the paneer perfectly cooked. This place was recommended by several people for desi style pizzas. Coming from Mississauga, I've tried amazing desi style pizza and so the bar was already set high. I decided to order the Paneer Tikka Masala pizza and the Penne Puttanesca. Let's start with the pizza, as you can see from the photo, there is barely any sauce "masala" on it. The pizza tasted more like dough with some drizzles of sauce. The paneer actually tasted very much like tofu and I'm wondering if it was actually tofu. The little bit of sauce that I did taste, actually tasted amazing. I wish they had put more of it on the pizza. The pasta was OK. Good serving size but way too many capers for my taste. If you're a fan of capers, definitely give this one a try, because the caper was the only dominant taste. Overall, I would give it even less stars, but I settle for three because the sauce did have some flavour. Please be generous with it on your pizzas! read more

Had lunch there today 3 pizzas - all were delicious. The staff was great and we enjoyed our meal. They even made me a uthappam to try. We paid the bill and returned home/hotel to go back to work. Shortly after I received a call at my hotel nearby that they had my wallet. Now I'm from Long Island visiting my son. How did they find me? It's pouring rain but I suited up and flew down the 5 blocks to retrieve my wallet. Complete with my husband's Christmas cash intact. They wouldn't take a cash reward just happy for my thanks. I had the falafel pizza while visiting Boston. It was tasty and good value for money. Their menu was intriguing (basically, pizza with an Indian flair, as well as Indian dishes) and I wish I lived closer so I could try more of their meals. I've had Chicago Pizza with a Twist and this reminded me of that, only yummier. This place is obviously a family-run affair, kind of a little hole-in-the-wall that isn't big on ambience but is fine for what you get. Service was polite and efficient. We brought some pies up to my husband's family (who are from India) and they devoured it. the chaat was awesome (and an extremely large portion. we got 2 for 9 people and had left overs). The Hawaiian Manchurian pizza was wonderful. I'm an omnivore, and I could barely tell that this was any different than a typical Hawaiian pizza. Don't get me wrong, the half sleepy staff are nice and the decor fits the Somerville vibe but the food is nothing worth going out of your way for. I have been to other pizza places that make better "Indian" pizzas than this establishment. We ordered: 1.) Zucchini Sticks 2.) Paneer Manchurian Pizza The zucchini sticks were deep fried and were served in a basket in a larger quantity which was nice. Although the breading was yummy, it was literally a cut piece of zucchini that was deep fried. It wasn't shaved zucchini breaded and baked. I guess I just expected a little more from a place that serves healthy vegetable and fruit juices than dumping cut vegetables in hot oil. The Paneer Manchurian was a much nicer experience. It was served to us nice and hot and decorated in fresh red onions and cilantro. This was a nice treat on such a cold winter day. However, the menus that were given to us by our server read that a large Paneer Manchurian cost $18.99 and we were charged $20.99. When we inquired where the $2 increase was coming from, the server replied that the menus did not reflect the new price increase the restaurant instilled. Call me crazy but that's some incredible bs. No mention of this price increase of course until after we finished our food. In summary, the food is good here but it is not incredible. Most of the pizza options on the menu end in Manchurian. I would like to see more of a pizza topping variety like vegetable tikka masala or palak paneer. Veggie crust could even make crust that is made out of veggies like cauliflower. And honestly if they just stuck to their menu and had better service, I would have given them another star. But, the combination of mediocre service and mediocre food gets a mediocre star rating. read more

We've loved Veggie Crust since it opened - one of my favorite spots in Somerville, especially for Indian pizza, which wasn't something I knew I needed until living in Somerville and the fabulous options abound with it. Definitely top 5 vegetarian places in greater Boston. I've really loved how this past year the online ordering menu includes tons of things (possibly even the full menu?) from Dosa n Curry as well- getting to mix and match from their menus is particularly nice. This most recent order we did an Impossible pizza, zucchini sticks, a Gobi 65 and some Fomu for dessert. How great is it that that can all be in one order!? Impossible pizza was the stand out in this order. I'm also a huge fan of the pav bhaji pizza and the their juice options, though we didn't get those today. But the Pav Bhaji pizza was definitely underwhelming, and lacking in that tasty flavor that pav bhaji is known for. It also was over-baked with the cheese almost brown. In fact I had asked them to cook it lightly so that it could be reheated and eaten a few hours later. On the phone, the woman agreed and acted as if she understood. Clearly not the place to go if you want to eat the pizza reheated/ later. Also ordered a side of garlic bread for $1.99. When going to pick up, I asked about it and was told that it was inside the pizza box. That made me wonder...so I opened the box and saw a tiny fist-sized foil wrapped chunk in a corner of the box. If I could give veggie crust a 10 - I would! We came here to try the pizza since we have heard great things. Got take out, it was very quick, friendly staff and the food. Was. Amazing. The paneer tikka masala pizza (though we were hesitant) was the perfect blend of paneer, sauce, onions and cilantro. This is my second review for them because yelp is not just about food but it is also about the service and the over all experience. After I went to this place yesterday, I couldn't find my wallet and realized that I may have forgotten it at this place(yes the pizza was so delicious that I didn't care about my wallet lol!). I called them four times and spoke to a lady- her name is "Asma" or similar to that. I must say, the lady had so much patience, I kept calling her to check if they found my wallet and everytime she received my call, she was very respectful and tried to calm me down. This place is amazing! You can do custom pies, like we did, and they're reasonably priced. We got both custom pies and a can of ginger ale for about $37. Each pie is enough for about 2 people (but we had a long drive home and we love to eat). The gluten-free pies come in one size. The crust is crispy and not gummy like most gluten-free crusts. The taste of the sauces are delicious (the alfredo was the most surprising as it's hard to find a delicious vegan alternative), my favorite was the pesto. The vegan cheese was also scrumptious. Had an early dinner here on a weekday night. The place was not busy for dinning in but had constant take out orders. We shared a pizza and onion rings. The flavor of the onion rings was great but the breading was too thick. So even though they seemed crispy they had a chewy texture. We tried the half Paneer Manchurian and half White Spinach Feta with regular crust and regular cheese. The paneer side was just average but the spinach side was really tasty.
