My wife told me about this place and I thought she was exaggerating for all the awesomeness she described. I went there today for the first time and I can tell she wasn't exaggerating at all. I am so excited about this place! I thought it was vegan as I went it, but I tried the sauce that came with the (best) buffalo chickin' wings (I've ever had) and decided, no, it must just be vegetarian, because there's no way there's no dairy in that sauce. Same thing with the sauces on my amazing Urban Plate, these can't possibly be vegan. Then the Chocolate Parfait for dessert.. Neither my husband and I guessed it was vegan until we came home and rehearsed it further. Yep, totally vegan. Fantastic vegan fare that even surprises and delights meat-eaters! Our aunt and uncle visited and they're big fish people, but they were astounded by how flavorful the food was. There aren't too many great options in UVillage and this is one of the better ones. The food tastes healthy, is freshly prepared, and the prices are reasonable. I think they weirdly assuage a shopper's guilt (by spending too much $ shopping) by offering virtuous food options - my mentality is "hey, I may have blown my wallet at JCrew, but at least I don't need to blow my diet too!" read more

You know that song from Oklahoma: "Well, we've gone about as fer as we can go now..."? Well this place has done about as much as you can do to make vegetarian food attractive, tasty and desirable. The service is nice, there's beer if you're in the mood, the atmosphere is bright and attractive, and you can have fake fish, chickin', or steak if you want to try trickin' your brain. The kale salad could have used more flavor, the dressing was a little light, but the presentation and balance of flavors was great. A good value, too. read more

This place is good if you are into healthy eats. Its more on the pricy side but like all things healthy it is the price you pay. Their food has always been decent. I eat at Veggie Grill once in a while when I'm studying at University Village because there aren't too many food options here for poor college students. On my most recent visit, I ordered a salad online since this usually speeds up the process of getting my food. It's usually very convenient since I can pay online and just need to walk into the restaurant for one minute to pick up my food. However, the last time that I went here, I was stuck in a line while other customers seemed to ignore the fact that there was a line and went straight to an open register. The Veggie Grill worker clearly saw that myself and another customer were standing in line and even looked at us, but didn't say anything to the rude lady who skipped the line. Additionally, even though I ordered a pickup/takeout order, they didn't provide utensils with my meal. I asked for them, but was told to ask someone else for utensils, making my wait even longer. After leaving the restaurant and walking back to my study location, I took my salad out of the bag to find out that they didn't provide me with any dressing! I ended up walking back to the restaurant to ask for salad dressing that they forgot to provide and AGAIN was told to ask someone else for it. The customer service here is definitely not the greatest, but as for the salad... it was fairly pricey, but tasted pretty good. read more

This place is really good! The food is fresh and the service is relatively fast. The portions are large. We ran into a couple problems with an order recently, but the manager handled it very well and offered us new meals, plus credited back our entire bill - without us having to ask or suggest him doing this. So, I ordered Thai wrap and fell pretty much in love! Firstly, this place is very clean and the people are very friendly. The day that I went, it was a nice sunny day so eating outside was a smart idea! The food didn't take long and my boyfriend and I shared a lemonade which was very enjoyable. The Thai wrap was made with a lot of vegetables and it wasn't too saucy like most wraps. I'd love to come back to try a new dish! read more

I thought I should update this review for Veggie Grill. The manager sent me two free meal cards for Veggie Grill but they both had the same expiration date. Seemed odd to me. We are all busy these days and this year has been very busy for me. It's hard to make it back to some places right away. The expiration date was in the middle of April but I wanted to wait longer for the quality to return. Usually it doesn't happen quickly. But I made it before that date but could only use one of the cards. I wish I could say that it was a better experience but it wasn't. Again, my food arrived somewhat later than the people in back of me at the cashier. It was on the cold side. It also appeared to late preparation and it looked like they were skimping on the amount of ingredients in the meal. The flavor was off too. I had ordered one of the taco plates... I can't remember the name of it and it looks like they've changed the menu again, so I can't really look it up. One of the things that I've not been happy about with Veggie Grill is that I'd get used to a favorite item and they'd get rid of it. Although their new menu looks great... like the looks of that Super Rica Burger, I don't feel comfortable going there to try it because I thought that new "beyond burger" patty was horrible compared to the older style they had, which I thought was great. The Roasted Brussels Sprouts looks good but my other fear that it will arrive and be cold. Like they've done so often in the last year. Especially for what they are charging now for their food. Veggie Grill packs a great amount of flavor and oomph into a very healthy dish. I recommend the Thai Chickin', which comforts with chickin' (soy/wheat/pea combo) and pops with citrus. (Also, the wontons aren't overpowering in crunch or carbs). Definitely eager to try a burger or sandwich next time. read more

I love Veggie Grill! I love that it's all vegan and they have a seasonal menu! I highly recommend the nachos! The cooks/people that bring out the food are always super nice. The drinks are unique. Got home... bag missing a full entrée!! Called... turns out they were out of this entrée the whole day, and didn't tell my husband when he picked up the food. Manager offered to reimburse me for the meal that they forgot. No further compensation for the inconvenience... I asked multiple times...Past 9 PM on a weekday now... Nobody else is open. I had a crab-style sandwich. Excellent flavor and very fresh veggies. The bun tended to fall apart, but that has good flavor, too. The (quinoa) macaroni and (non-dairy) cheese had good texture and a mild, but satisfying taste. It's a rare occasion I find a non-wheat pasta that I would be willing to eat again. None of the flavors were overpowering, and I appreciated that. I've had some vegetarian food that can go overboard on the spices. My wife had the grilled portobello sandwich, which I would also give high marks. Prices were fair, lots of appealing choices. Clean and bright decor, and hospitable staff. I will return. read more

It's nice to be able to get a quick and health vegan meal. I go here occasionally for the veggie meats. They're not the best in Seattle, but they're good and convenient. I usually get the chicken plate, with fries chicken (good but not amazing), mashed potatoes and cauliflower (good, but I like just potatoes better), and kale (good, but I eat it at home all the time). It is topped with a yummy gravy. But mostly they have sandwiches, bowls, and salads. Today I got the bahn mi salad, which was tasty with shredded kale and cabbage, quinoa, carrots, mushrooms, lots of basil, and especially good breaded steak. The salad was really overdressed and the basil wilted, but the dressing was flavorful. The chicken fingers are overpriced at $8 for five fingers when I would get gardein and make it myself. The highlight was the tempura green beans, perfectly crisp. I'll keep coming here, but I don't come all the time, mostly because the food is so much like what I eat at home. I stumbled across this place and was intrigued as my dad is a vegan, which can make it very hard to find places to go out to eat at. I went inside and the woman at the front counter was very friendly. She explained that the "chickin' " does not contain meat and even gave me a brochure/menu to take home to my dad. Today we finally tried it out. While this wasn't a steal, it also wasn't as expensive as U Village tends to be. Most entrees were about $8.95 or $9.95. Not bad, especially considering there's a lot of produce in it. I ordered the Thai Chickin' Salad. The other people I was with got the Urban Plate and the All-American Stack (on a bed of kale, instead of a bun). I had a bite of the tempeh from the Urban Plate and it was pretty good, as was the grilled veggie steak of the All-American Stack. As for my Thai Chickin' Salad, it was good but not excellent. I ate it quite slowly because I really only liked about half of the ingredients in it. The dressing was good, though, and just spicy enough to give it a kick without knocking me down. (Thank God.) We also got a side of the cauli-mashed potatoes, which were AMAZING. But they were the only thing that really got me excited. Overall, I think the concept of Veggie Grill is great. It's nice to have restaurants that I can take my gluten-free, vegan, or even just vegetarian, friends, knowing that they will be able to choose from more than 3 items. (Veggie Grill does not have meat at all, in anything!) However, too often it seems that places of this sort end up with a lot of spicy, Asian-inspired dishes and I would really like to be able to find vegan, veggie-heavy food with a different influence to change it up more. When it comes down to it, though, I don't think Veggie Grill was necessarily a bad place. I really just think it's not for ME, specifically. You know? It's just not my taste, but they do an alright job at what they do. So unless I get a craving for the delicious Cauli-Mashed Potatoes and happen to be in the area, I won't be back. read more

My friend and I stopped in here on a busy Saturday and we're glad we did. We browsed the menu, then proceeded to the cashier. I ordered the Buffalo Bomber sandwich and upgraded to the sweetheart fries as my side. My friend ordered the Santa Fe Chik'in sandwich. Prices are a little high, but you get a huge sandwich and a ton of fries, I couldn't finish mine, so I had to get a box. Also, their peach organic black tea is amaaaaaazing!
