DETAIL: Velofix in Pacific Palisades 90272 (2018-2021): Comms, promptness, reliability, service quality were all excellent. Velofix in Newport Coast 92657 (2022-2025): Decent/Mixed; see below. Service by RST in Newport Coast: Excellent, but probably over-subscribed (busy). Comms (tech to customer): Good while onsite, but unreliable or non-existent via SMS. Comms (company to customer): Not good; see below: COMMS/SCHEDULING: With little (or no) notice to me, Velofix has rescheduled service appointments for 2-3 weeks off. In 2025, Velofix has cost me time+revenue, as I'd made arrangements to leave work to host this tech. After speaking w/ a Velofix operator about this last week, Velofix again no-showed (3x now), with diff excuses each time. Giving the local bike Tech the benefit of the doubt (as I'm confident he's busy), this feels like a comms/dispatch problem, especially as I continue receiving (automated) bills for a full service/tuneup that has not yet been executed. IMPRESSION: Seems that Velofix is dispatching tech(s) as widely/quickly as possible, but Velofix has not yet invested in training the dispatchers/schedulers to ensure the customer experience is excellent (or even passable). DECISION: I can no longer rely on Velofix to meet their committed/scheduled service appts, and have switched to BarceloBicycles.com which provides excellent (and prompt) service. read more

If you like being hung out to dry after a week waiting for your appt you should use these guys. My appt was at 1PM, 1:45PM nobody called got the "truck issues" excuse and rescheduled for 01/16 cause that's all they had left. I'd give them zero stars if I could, communication is the first step to good business practices, my trust in their competence is lost.... picking up a phone is a hell of a lot easier than fixing a $3K ebike! I rescheduled my day for this, rode 20 miles to work specifically to have it worked on in time for this weekend, but why would they care? Funny thing is, they have all over their site about trip fees if they have to come out more than once, hilarious for a company that ghosts their customers! You'll be better off with Matt or Joey, local guys who won't screw you over like these clowns. I only used them cause my daughter got me a gift card for Xmas. I'll be regifting that to an enemy. Called a local guy, fit me in tomorrow night because he understood my situation and wanted to help, now that's good business! read more

This was my second time using their service because they did an awesome job the first time. The person that came this time was different. I wanted my bikes looked at and the brakes put into working condition. The person said the brakes were missing washers and that they do not carry spares. That totally did not make sense to me. 2 bikes paid over $200 for someone to come take a look and tell me that I can't use the bikes and I need to get spare parts. $200+ to look at my bike and nothing done. Had to wait 3 weeks for appt. They Canceled one appt without any reason as to why. Rescheduled and never showed up, did not call, did not reschedule. Have been chasing customer service for days now to get someone out same week and was told there was an appt next day 8am. Email confirmation says a week from now 8am. WTF? (This is for the OC service). wanted to like this service, the bike tech was friendly enough and it was really convenient. Riding a couple hours after the service my bike flatted after about a mile. Tried changing but long story short it kept flatting so tried texting the tech back if he could take a look. Sadly the communication is really poor, I sent texts to tech and two emails to inquiries@velofix.com . Tech texted back saying he was going to come back next day, texted back to confirm, and he ghosted after that and never heard from again. Now I'm out $250 with an unridable bike for two weeks, had to take it to a different shop to get it fixed, and the new shop said there was piece of metal left in the rim well. I'm going to have to say avoid sadly. read more

So, wasn't finding the time to get my bikes tuned up for summer and the hydraulic brake on the front of one was failing . Booked an appointment and next day he was here with a very well equipped shop in a huge van and as professional as can be. The number of things he did was amazing for the price. I loved their service. It was fast and addressed the issues I had with bicycles. It's a great choice for people who can't fit their bicycles on their cars. I totally recommend it!! There were just a few things I thought needed improvement: a reminder over the sms or email of your appointment date; I wanted to ask where my technician was on a Saturday and their phones don't work on Saturdays; I know bicycle parts are hard to find during covid, but I didn't get a chance to discuss with my technician if he had the parts or I would have to buy somewhere else (even though I wrote I needed 2 new tires, they didn't contact me to ask models, prices, etc.). I felt I was out on a take it or leave situation, and they only had 1 tire. If they read my comments/needs for this service, they would know I needed more than 1 tire. So I felt they got a bit lost there. But besides that, I would totally hire them again. But maybe look for parts elsewhere and just ask for installation. They took care of our 2 Cannondales. I had ordered an Electra Loft 3i and needed it to be assembled. Normally, I would have asked my brother to do this, but this model has internal gears and I wanted to make sure the bike was properly built. I scheduled an appointment with Velofix online and was riding my new bike in no time. I appreciated the ease of scheduling an appointment and having the service done so quickly. The price is comparable to going to a bike shop. Though, the turnaround time at a bike shop is a little more unpredictable. Looking forward to getting future tune-up's with Velofix. read more

I run a vacation rental house in Newport Beach that supplies bikes. And they get pretty beat up with renters use and the elements of being by the beach. A few years ago, I found a guy who would do routine maintenance on the bikes (on site, which is essential bc I can't move 6 bikes every other month for repairs). I asked him to come monthly...ran me about $200 per month to check tires, pedals, and chains. Fix if needed. Worked great for the first few months. Then he stopped coming. That's fine, I understand it's not the ideal setup. But then I call again 2 years later in dire need of assistance. Its over the Thanskgiving week and the day of, they cancel the appt bc a part did not come in. Thanks for the heads up...we postpone to after Thanksgiving. No followup from them. I try to call but it won't connect. I receive a survey from Velifix (corporate?) to complete 3 weeks later and I state to velofix that I never received my service...immediately get help! Thank you. Customer service finally. Their tech comes out and it happens to be the same guy that serviced my bikes years ago that faded off. I'm so happy it's the same guy since I know him, but it turns out he also couldn't complete the job because he needed a pedal (although, I had specified my need for 2 pedals in my order so not positive why this ocurred). He asks me to pay for the pedal with my current repair order and promises to come back and repair later....he is familiar with my property afterall, so I agree... still TBD on his arrival to conduct that repair. I've contacted him twice to remind him. Poor service in the Newport/Costa Mesa area for Velofix. Love the van and the phone customer service. Don't believe in the follow through of the local service tech. Sorry. Can't give you guys any more chances:-( read more

Had my first experience with Velofix - Orange County and it was terrific. Jon was on time and extremely knowledgable I have 7 bikes in the garage but the immediate need was a fix to my mtb. Ya know, at first we thought the Velofix Van was just for the "Rich and Famous" but we were wrong. Labor prices are pretty much the same as a Shop but the big difference is our bikes are fixed within a few hours, not the usual 5-7 days when we drop them off at the shop. We ride regularly 4 times a week and don't like to be without our babies for too long. Jon is a great guy, tons of experience, and my family and friends have adopted him and made him our chief mechanic. Another benefit of Jon coming to our house is we get to chat with him while he works on our bikes. He's spent so much time troubleshooting issues and has always been "spot-on" with his diagnosis. We've learned quite a bit, and knowing we have a good mechanic who will bring his bikeshop right to our front door is PRICELESS.
