    Two combos for $25

Love VT...the variety of options is endless and great! Prices have gone up a lot in the past few years, however they offer combos that are a better deal than purchasing solo items. Service is hit or miss, this specific location is always messy, especially around the drink area.

This is only my second visit to a Velvet Taco in several years. Over 20 years ago I jumped on the overnight success of the original and loved it . As they expanded,I eventually tried another location but was not impressed. Jump to today and circumstance placed this location in my grandson and I path around lunch. He looked across the street when I asked him what he wanted for lunch and said," I could go there,I'm eating light". Eating light? I'm using your birthday as an excuse to eat heavy. But,it's your birthday so...we headed to the Velvet Taco Casual, counter order, interesting menu, good prices. There's a lot to like about these places. Literally something for everyone from brisket and steak,to fish or vegetable options. All served up as a taco or bowl. I Ordered the special which was a poke taco on a lettuce leaf. I know,I know...not Guy H usual. He ordered two salmon tacos. We added Queso Blanco, chips and at the register,a piece of red velvet cake. Let me stop here and say,I wish I hadn't found this offering. It is so good,I could come by here daily just for the moist goodness slathered in the perfect sour cream frosting . We took a seat and our name was called for counter pick up in a short 5 minutes. Tacos were prepared and served beautifully. We were both happy with our choices and glad we ate lite. I was surprised to find I could eat " lite" here so,have added it to my convenient and reasonable " healthier" eating list.

This place is so nostalgic for me because it was the first restaurant I tried in Texas at 11:00 p.m. at night when I didn't know where to eat much less where I was. But taking bias out of the equation, the food quality and taste is amazing. I always order the Kobe Smash taco (recently changed to the Bacon Smash taco) and the Buffalo Chicken taco. My wife got the Grilled Salmon taco and loved it as well. For 4 huge tacos and a side of chips and guacamole, it was only $32. The weekly taco feature is the wow factor and always keeps the menu rotating. The service is awesome and it's always open late and clean. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting something fun, unique, affordable, and very satisfying.

We came in today for the new bowls. Have I said how much we LOVE Velvet Taco? Love. Love. Love. So the new bowls. They have a limited selection of a few of their tacos, doubled in size without the taco and turned into a bowl. Unfortunately, they do not have my favorite Nashville Tofu taco turned into a bowl so I had to go with another option. On my companion's recommendation, I went with their favorite, the Korean pork. While I prefer not to eat meat, and I come to velvet taco for their veg options, since there was not a plentiful supply of that in their bowls, yet, I was happy to try this delicious bowl. It was really good. It was just too big. I recommend that they consider a large and small portion that we can choose from. It's like do I want one taco or two tacos? I want a large bowl or a small bowl. For my belly size definitely a small bowl would have worked or splitting a large bowl with a companion. Pro tip: the patio is great. And go for the Marg. Stay for the cake.

This review is just for the unreliable drive through orders. About 50% of my drive through orders here end up with weird errors. Today I ordered a kids chicken taco add (cabbage)and a tikka shrimp taco. Got a tortilla with only cabbage and queso (wtf) and a chicken tikka taco, they refunded me after I called but the drive there, the 10 minute wait- just to get home and have no lunch for my kid was so annoying and not worth it.

I like this location a lot as my food is usually really good. This visit did not disappoint as my food was still yummy. This was my first time trying the Elotes. It was tasty, creamy and cheesy. It paired well with the blue tortilla chips. I will definitely get it again. It's like I had corn nachos. My taco is usually good. I get one on the menu, but substitute my protein. I enjoy the rotisserie chicken, avocado, corn and other components. It's always flavorful and fresh. My craving has been satisfied. They always forget my taco sauce. So I have to remind them. That's my only issue. I was happy, full and satisfied.

I've been trying to find a good taco joint to eat at for some time now and someone suggested I try Velvet Taco. I paid them a visit recently and ordered up a storm. I ordered the slow roasted angus brisket, grilled steak bacon smash burger, Mexican-cali shrimp, quesa birria duo and roasted chicken tacos. The queso looked good so I also ordered the chips and queso blanco and wanted to try the red curry queso so added that too. Overall I found the tacos were tasty, especially the slow roasted angus taco. The regular queso with chips I found to be really good. The space had a warm vibe to it and the workers were really friendly. I was grateful they had paper towels on hand otherwise I would've been swimming in the taco juice. The journey to find a great taco joint still continues. Portion size: 2/5 (you need to order a few to fill up) Flavor: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 3/5

We have been here twice in the last month, and we absolutely LOVE the fun and unique taco offerings! Will be coming back again and again! Our first time trying Velvet Taco was via takeout which was already really good, but we dined in our second time and that was even better since everything was super fresh. We have tried a variety of the tacos on their menu at this point, and I gotta say that almost all of them have been hits for me. My favorites are definitely the slow roasted angus brisket (which comes in a cheese encrusted tortilla!), beer battered cauliflower, picnic chicken, and Mexi-Cali shrimp (the shrimp is SO flavorful). The sweet chile shrimp has been the only one that was a miss -- the flavors were meh in my opinion and it just didn't hold up as well as the others. I would also call out that the chicken & waffle taco is really good but the waffle tortilla breaks very easily.

I finally found a vegan and vegetarian friendly taco shop that creates a unique blend of flavors even without adding meat or fish to the mix! The cauliflower taco was to die for, and the hot tofu one was equally as delicious!! We also paired the meal with chips and the incredible elote and white queso dip!! The elite was so amazing that it reminded me of the one I used to eat in Cuernavaca! The only dish I didn't try was the Red velvet cake but, fear not, I will be back for more very soon!

    Absolutely LOVE every taco here!

How have I NOT written a review for Velvet Taco yet?!! With all the restaurants that have opened in the area Velvet Taco is bar FAR the best one! + The food is incredible, they don't skimp on ingredient quantity or quality. + The service is top notch and quick for super fresh ingredients and custom built tacos. + The order ahead and pick up via drive thru is timely and they have great service. I've never waited long and my order has always been ready when I arrive. + The margaritas both to go and for there are tasty - highly recommend! My favorite tacos so far are the #14.5 Sweet chile shrimp, Fan Favorite#17 Mexi-Cali shrimp, #15 Grilled salmon (GF) * †, and most recently July's Weekly WTF Taco= Hawaiian Poke ahi tuna, napa slaw, buttery cilantro rice, sesame soy vinaigrette, grilled pineapple, pickled fresnos, cilantro, avocado, corn tortilla - $6.25 My hubbie's favorite is usually the weekly WTF taco, but otherwise it's the Fan Favorite#3 Spicy tikka chicken and the #11.5 Chimichurri steak. I'm sure I'll have more photos and updated reviews as time goes on, but I HIGHLY recommend Velvet Taco!

My sister-in-law picked this place out for dinner and it was a winner. This taco spot offers the typical varieties, such as chicken, pork, beef, fish, veggie, and even breakfast tacos. However, the taco/toppings themselves are very unique, packed with flavor, and absolutely delicious. I had the Kobe Smash Burger Taco, the Mexi-Cali Shrimp Taco, the Sweet Chili Shrimp Taco, Elote & Chips for a side, and their Frozen Margarita. Let me just tell you that I was a happy girl and that Margarita was strong and was straight perfection with my meal. Not only was the food great but the service was too. I highly recommend this place. I am sad there aren't any of these locations in Orlando, but next time I'm out that way in Texas. I will surely be back.

I knew from the second we walked in, based on the list of made-in-house horchatas and agua frescas, that we were going to be in for a good meal. The menu was refreshingly unique compared to your basic street taco style setup or the usual Tex-Mex mashup of inauthentic tacos topped with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Our group of 3 adults, plus my 7 year old niece, shared a bowl of guacamole, which was phenomenal and came mixed with sunflower seeds and topped with crumbled cotija, alongside house-made corn tortilla chips. We also split an elote cup, which was great. My wife got a classic horchata, which was deliciously sweet (but not overly so) with a nice slight punch of cinnamon. I went with water but will definitely try an agua fresca next time. I ordered two tacos, both on house-made flour tortillas (I like corn tortillas but prefer flour when made fresh). The Pollo Azteca, with marinated grilled chicken tenderloin, mango pico, and a drizzle of crema, was phenomenal, and had more flavor than most chicken tacos I've had before. The star of my meal, however, was the Al Pastor, with adobo marinated pork tenderloin, diced pineapple, onions, and cilantro, with a slice of lime to squeeze on top. This was hands down one of the best tacos I've ever had in my life. I was floored. I also tried my wife's Carne Asada tacos, which came topped with cilantro and onions, and a slice of lime, on their house made corn tortillas. The steak was incredibly flavorful, and the corn tortillas were tender without being chewy. We shared a side of rice and beans, which was good, but not the star of the show. The rice was your typical Mexican yellow rice, and the beans were more of a soupy whole-beans style, which reminded me of my Colombian mother-in-law's recipe. The staff makes four homemade salsas, ranging from mild to pretty spicy, and I loved all of them with the exception of the mild. My niece got the kids' cheese quesadilla, which was a simple melted Oaxaca cheese between a flour tortilla, served with rice, beans, and a little side of crema. The last thing I will rave about is the service. The staff was incredibly nice from the minute we walked in, pleasant to talk to when delivering our order and asking how everything was tasting, to the moment we bussed our tables and headed for the door. I cannot wait to come back again, and I hope they stay very busy until I'm able to do so, because I want this place to be around for a very long time!

The tables and floors are dirty with flakes of food. Just down right dirty. Ugh. Not sure when they ever wipe them down, if ever. The floors are dirty. Ugh. Crumbs all over the floor and it's sticky. I think most folks use Uber Eats. That's why they don't have a standard inside. Usually, kids, and I mean kids 16 and younger are running the counter and kitchen. The bottles are never wiped down. Caked on food on ketchup, green sauce, and red sauce bottles. Thus far I've not gotten sick. They don't speak English, but then I don't speak Spanish. So it's a wash! I'll probably go back. And pray every time I don't get sick. Thus far I've dodged the bullet! I'd like to support a small business. However, the prices are stupid crazy! Salsa and chips are $5.50. Refills are $1 each time for salsa. Pay up front too. Then they serve you. Don't expect refills either you have to pay first. ( I still leave a tip, but probably shouldn't). Food is always decent! Just know when eating in, it's not up to expectations as a consumer. Let me start with the most important thing I can tell you. If you have never eaten at Vaqueros, you are missing out. Vaqueros and Hutchins are the two best BBQ joints in Collin County. But Vaqueros has a twist. Their barbecue is competition grade, and they also happen to run one of the Top 50 taco spots in the entire state. Do not take my word for it. Ask Texas Monthly. Want to know why the tacos are that good? It is the brisket. Trey uses every last ounce of it. The trimmings end up in the sausage, the burgers, the tacos, and the consomé de res. They go into the tallow too, and if you ever order the fries, you will understand. You will want more. His suadero tacos are something special, and that is just the beginning of the menu. Speaking of burgers, do not skip his. It is outstanding, and it is made with, if you guessed brisket, you would be right. So here is my advice. If you are thinking about wandering next door to Village Burger Bar, stop. Get a burger from Trey instead. His beef is ground fresh daily, and the pickles and the mustard are made in house. It is in a different league. Now the class itself. What Trey taught me about trimming a brisket, treating it like a steak, seasoning it, and wrapping it, those are lessons any wannabe pitmaster will cherish for life. And here is the part nobody warns you about. Trey is a phenomenal storyteller. He knows everyone in the Texas barbecue world, and his stories alone are worth the price of admission. Let us talk about the food. Do you love barbecue? Vaqueros has it. Brisket, ribs, turkey, and two kinds of sausage, and every one of them is excellent. The smoked pork carnitas are pure heaven. Looking for something a little different? Get the brisket nachos. They come loaded with chopped brisket, queso, beans, pico, and all the fixings. Fifteen dollars. You can feed a family of four with one order. They have beer, margaritas, and a bourbon lemonade that is genuinely fantastic. I will say it one more time. You are missing out if you have not been. Tell him Brian sent you.

Thankfully, there was plenty of shade from umbrellas, and it was a great spot for people-watching with lots of foot traffic passing by. Now for the important part--the BBQ. My son and I split the two-meat plate with brisket, pork ribs, mac and cheese, and beans. The brisket was legit--moist, flavorful, and with a nice bark, although I would have liked it a little crispier. The pork ribs were just okay; they were a bit on the dry side. That said, their BBQ sauce was excellent. I'm usually not one to sauce good ribs, but in this case it definitely elevated them. The mac and cheese was probably the biggest surprise. It was rich and gooey, topped with feta, chives, and shredded cheddar. Not a combination I would have expected--or ordered--but somehow it really worked. The only real disappointment was the beans. They arrived cold and were a bit bland, especially by Texas BBQ standards. Overall, it was a solid 4-star experience. The brisket alone is worth trying, and I'd definitely come back to work my way through more of the menu.

The bread is toasted crispy, the meat is delicate and tender, and don't even get me started on all of the ooey gooey cheesy goodness! The consommé is spicy and flavorful for dipping and the staff is super friendly. The food is cooked with love and you can definitely taste it.
