This was the WORST cake I have ever had in my LIFE. It was so HARD. I ordered it via drive thru. When I got home and opened it I was very disappointed. It was ROCK HARD. If I lived closer to the location I would have driven back for a refund. It was not moist at all. It was like week old cake. I really wanted to try the cake from reading good reviews. The quality of the food is very good, and I do enjoy eating here! My only hang up is really more around the business strategy of not putting prices on the menu. You go in blind, and I have found that most tacos range from $5.50-$7.00 each. The food is woth it, but I would just like to know prices upfront. I also am not a huge fan of restaurants asking for a 20%-22%-25% tip just for taking your order at the counter with no severs or wait staff. We were trying to order through their website and it wasn't allowing us so we called; the lady on the phone seemed irritated already since it was close to closing but my gfs brother had ordered a normal cheese quesadilla and got a chicken quesadilla (he's vegetarian...) We also ordered an elote dip and it came cold. As someone who grew up in Mexico eating real tacos, I see this place as more of an American-style taco spot -- so I don't compare it to traditional Mexican tacos. But on the American Taco Sami Scale (where a 10 is basically mythical), I'd give Velvet Taco a solid 8.2 I love this place -- they have so many great taco options for us non-meat eaters (vegetarian/pescatarian), and their drinks are phenomenal. I have placed an order through their app--3 hours before pickup. Five minutes before picking up someone, with an attitude, told me that the order was canceled. They were out of chickens! Wow! Probably my second time visiting Velvet Taco. This location is horrific. First, I was the only one in the restaurant at that moment, The guy taking my order was slouching while taking my order completely prepared that he had to be at work I'm assuming. I waited a few minutes and then decided to use the restroom. Went to the restroom. Waited for somebody else to finish then proceeded to use the restroom to come out, and my two taco order was still not ready. When I asked about my order, he went to the printer, grab the order and just began to start it. Then a slew of other people came in. And as I was waiting there for an additional time, other people received their orders prior to me getting my to taco order. When I asked about it again, both workers were annoyed and kind of threw me my order. Not sure what kind of service that is, but it won't be one that I will be returning to. From Indian flavoured tacos to Korean mix, the variety is just amazing. I love their cauliflower taco, paneer taco, spicy tikka chicken, and used to love their falafel taco ( sadly that's discontinued ). I love the vibes of the place, gives a pleasant happy hour ish feel throughout the day (which is great) . When my parents were visiting Dallas from India, they loveeeed the food here. We ordered three different tacos: grilled salmon, Mexi-Cali shrimp, and Nashville chicken waffle taco. I loved the big piece of salmon with a generous amount of other toppings, which gave it a nice sweet and citrusy flavor. My wife got the shrimp taco and said it was delicious, so I'll take her words for it. (She's always right!) The two tacos were delicious, but the only complaint I have is that the taco shells were a bit too thin. They broke after my first bite, which was probably due to the large amount of ingredients and dressings they were holding. Other than that, we loved them. We also liked the Nashville chicken taco. The crispy chicken tenders were good, and the waffle shell added a unique and delicious sweetness to the mix. There are many other things on the menu, including Cuban pig, Korean fried rice, Kobe bacon burgers, fish and chips, red curry coconut queso, and more. If you want to have an adult drink to go with your food, they also have frozen margaritas. Overall, we had a great experience at Velvet Taco. This is one of our favorite taco spots! So, of course, we decided to stop in on our anniversary for lunch. I know that probably sounds strange to celebrate your wedding anniversary at a fast casual taco joint, but if you've ever tried their red velvet cake, then maybe you understand. We had a red velvet wedding cake. So, it is a bit nostalgic for us to grab some tacos and then indulge in the best red velvet cake on the planet for our anniversary! Their cake is moist and delicious and so much better than I remember our wedding cake being. The cream cheese icing is thick, rich, and creamy, and then they serve caramel sauce with the cake, which just makes it a ridiculous indulgence and takes it over the top! I only ordered one item here: the spicy tikka chicken masala taco and I thought it was very delicious. I don't really like tacos in general, but I love Indian food so I wanted to try it! I usually don't like tortillas but I thought the flour tortilla they had was very soft and chewy which I liked. I liked the rice flavor and the chicken was not dry at all. It did indeed have a kick to it and the tikka masala flavor was incredibly savory and tasty. I tried a bite of my friend's guacamole and I also thought that was delicious. The Velvet Taco menu draws you in immediately with the unique and bold flavor combinations. Tacos that you never imagined are right there, and the hardest part is deciding which to try. Ordering was easy, and although there was a bit of a hiccup as the rest of my party's orders got filled while mine was overlooked, it didn't sour the experience. They were able to get my order taken care of quickly once the issue was realized. The vibe in the place was laid back, orders were moving quickly, and the mix of outdoor and indoor seating was nice. I had the chicken and waffle, the Korean fried rice, and the spicy chicken tikka tacos and was thoroughly impressed! The different flavors came through as I'd hoped.
