The overall food hall is a cool vibe. The Velvet taco has a great corner area and great seating. The walk up counter to order was clean and they have a very quick service. Loved the food. A good heat level and very flavorful and fresh. Drawback has nothing to do with the food, but the bathrooms were all the way across the food hall. It would have been helpful to have one closer or at least a handwashing station nearby. So I'd give it a 4.5, but not an option. Food was great! Maybe invest in sturdier flat ware as well. Sporks aren't for everything and they don't cut the meats in the bowls- no knives. read more

Tried the Nashville Hot Tofu and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very crispy Tofu, great crunch from the slaw and the pickles were just the right amount of sour. The crema tied it together. I like that you can just order through the link then get a message when the food is ready for pickup. Definitely will go back. read more

Velvet Taco satisfied my need for tacos! I appreciate how they have vegetarian options that are creative and delicious - if I have to eat one more mushroom or grilled veggie taco I will scream. The Nashville Hot, Fried Cauliflower, and Paneer tacos are all delicious - my favorite was the cauliflower. The nachos (sans brisket) are also tasty and I highly recommend adding guac - their guac is very good. For 5 tacos, nachos, and elotes we spent less than $50 for a full dinner for 2. Good and here's a "hack" for a better dining experience. I had a couple of tacos and they were fine. I would have them again with no argument. However, I doubt I'll ever come back. My recommendation is that you avoid the food court altogether. We only went there because it was featured in Somebody Feed Phil, and we're learning that his "recommendations" rarely, if ever, pan out. Instead, walk a few blocks over to Martin's Bar-B-Queue joint for some of the best BBQ that I've ever had. (Sorry, I'll get more into that in another review.) First off the food/entertainment hall is the vibe! It gives Broadway a newness touch! I walked through the food area trying to decide and once I saw Velvet Tacos, I couldn't go no other way! The customer service was great. The employee explained the tacos (ingredients) and gave me pointers on their best sellers. I tried the hot chicken, salmon, and pork tacos! Everything was fresh, hot, and Delicious. The wait for good timing maybe 10/15 mins. The big plus was their house made frozen margarita! It was better than some restaurants I've been to. Had the Taco of the Week which was the steak chimichurri and the Baja shrimp. The chimichurri taco had big chunks of steak. They were a refreshing break from all the fried chicken and heavily buttered or cheesy carbs I'd eaten for my previous few meals. They were decently sized tacos, not the itty bitty street taco size, more like Taco Bell size but filled with fresh ingredients. Two were perfect for me. I wasn't overly stuffed and left happy and satisfied. It was peak lunch time when I went and there were maybe 8 people ahead of me. I was in line for maybe 10 min and took another ~10 min to get my food, so I guess it wasn't that quick, but it was worth it. Perfect location for an afternoon snack when you've been partying on Broadway! I wish the meat had been ground beef instead of strips, I think it's easier to bite into when it's ground beef. The food was piping hot, which I loved. You order at a counter and the cashier was very nice and helpful, since this was my first time eating here. This location is located in the food hall downtown which has a ton of different food options and plenty of seating. The menu features specialty tacos and it was hard to choose which ones to order. I decided to get a Rotisserie Chicken taco and a Beer Battered Cauliflower taco. I placed my order and waited about 15 minutes for it to be ready. I absolutely loved the Beer Battered Cauliflower taco. The cauliflower and tortilla were both crispy and I loved all the toppings. I was not as excited about the rotisserie chicken taco. Who doesn't love tacos? We came here before a show at the Ryman last month and we've been trying a new restaurant in the Assembly Food Hall each time we visit. This time we stopped in at Velvet Taco and we really enjoyed our meal. They have a ridiculous variety of tacos, some traditional, some a little wacky, and they have a special one of the day as well. We tried 4 different tacos and the best ended up being the green chile pork or the angus brisket. We also tried the spicy tikka one, but that was unnecessarily sweet with no heat, as well as the hot chicken taco (special for the day), which needed to be much hotter as well. The queso blanco with blue corn chips was honestly the best thing we had and we would go back just for that; it was that delicious. It's definitely worth a stop in to try this place! read more
