My Caffe Ollo was like Sugar with a hint of coffee. Disappointed in it. The menudo was decent, didn't taste dirty which is a good thing. The wait time is horrible. Got there at 8 am there was only one other table and us , a party of 2 . I got chilaquiles and my spouse the special. We waited 40 minutes and I still had to call the waitress to mention that it's been a long wait . Then when it came it was cold and greasy. I also added carne asada on the chilaquiles and it was probably less and a two tablespoons. So disappointed with this place . It is definitely just a hype not worth it at all. read more

Great food for a very good price! We never walk away spending more than $20-$25 for the 2 of us. Service can be hit or miss at times, but the servers are very nice and usually pretty quick to get you anything they forgot. Besides serving your standard Mexican food, they do have a few veggie options, including cheese quesadillas, cheese enchiladas and chiles rellenos. We've brought different friends here several times and they always leave satisfied (and have continued coming back). We've been here plenty of times for their breakfast and dinner. La Rueda is BYOB so bring a bottle of champagne and turn your breakfast into a brunch or bring your favorite beer for dinner! Definitely recommend this place. read more

They make their own corn tortilla from scratch!! How many mom and pop shops do that in fort worth?! Few and far between. I love their breakfast!! Beef. Fajita. Burrito. Those are three glorious words. Here's a few more.... Fresh made salsa, fresh made guacamole and all coming from a little house down Oakland in East Fort Worth. One of the guys at work had been here and liked it so that was good enough to try it out. All there is is a neon "Open' sign and a green house. It does not say La Rueda outside the building, if you pass it, you end up on Lancaster, and at night, that's not a fun place to be. So don't pass it. Now for this beef fajita burrito($5.50). Stuffed with rice, beans, onions, cheese and of course lots of tasty, tasty meat. I topped it with the guac, salsa and even got fresh chopped jalapenos to cover it with. You have choices of chicken, brisket, taco beef or fajita beef. The salsa is fresh and has a great snap to it. If you don't like spicy you may be afraid, but I loved it. The guacamole was creamy and had a little bit of chunk to it. Some of the other menu items include flautas, enchiladas and biztek, There are also American options like brisket and fried chicken. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and are open all seven days of the week. Most all options are under $10.00 and it looks like a place I will return to. Previously I had stopped in for lunch. I had been wanting to try breakfast and this morning was a perfect time. My wife had some early morning errands to take care and we had not eaten breakfast. My wife loves breakfast burriots. She ordered one of La Rueda's, took a bite and a big smile came across her face. The burrito was also huge. It looked like it had at least two eggs scrambled. I opted for the regular breakfast plate. It was delicious. I am so happy we had this great restaruant on the east side of Fort Worth. read more

We eat at "the wheel" quite often. The food always comes out fast and the portions are huge. I almost always leave with enough leftovers to form another meal. Even when the whole building is full and we were seated upstairs, we had our order within 10 minutes of placement. On my last visit I got a beef burrito that was gigantic and under $6. I didn't think it was going to be this big. My wife usually orders the La Rueda platter, which comes with a taco, chalupa, enchilada, rice and beans. They'll give you a free to-go fountain drink or iced tea if you ordered one with your meal. The FWPD sure likes La Rueda. There's usually a couple of officers in there grubbing down. Lots of city employees, firefighters, and dog catchers frequent the restaurant. If you're a chips and salsa aficionado - you'll enjoy a visit. The cold salsa is delicious and full of flavor, and the chips are thin, warm, with the perfect amount of salt. I've eaten enough chips to wish I made a smaller meal order before. Wednesday (beef) and Friday (chicken) are lunch fajita specials for 5.99, which is a spectacular deal. The brisket sandwich is excellent and the same price daily. read more

Hubby and I went for lunch today, around 1pm - they continued to do a steady business the whole time we lunched. They have expanded the dining area so it's much more spacious and roomy-feeling! Big improvement! Started with chips and salsa - yum! Salsa was cold, mild and a little chunky. Really hit the spot. We asked if they had queso and they have 'nacho cheese' so we decided to try it. Yup, that's right, a bowl of bright orange-yellow nacho cheese sauce arrived....it was hot and when you dipped in there, then into the salsa, it made a nice little appetizer! Monday's special was either a quesadilla or a cheeseburger for $6.50, so I opted for the chicken quesadilla, adding pico to it when it was cooked. Our waitress, Betty, only charged me $0.50 for the pico, instead of $1.00 for a full side order - nice. All I can say is OMG this was probably one of THE best chicken quesadillas I've ever had! The shredded chicken was super juicy and there was plenty of it. They added the pico, plus it had cheese inside, so it was very delish - very flavorful, which is hard to do with a flour tortilla and chicken, but they nailed it! It was dusted with some white cheese and chopped cilantro and I could only eat 1/2! Score! Hubby ordered the ground beef chile relleno and proclaimed it 'delicious', and proceeded to devour the whole thing. The rice was good, with little peas and carrots in it, I think. He didn't touch his beans, but if you're a bean person, they looked good. Two iced teas rounded out our meal and it was about $25 before gratuity. This place is a local gem - it's BYOB, and you can order breakfast all day long! Their menu is very diverse, from breakfast (tacos, regular ole eggs ad chicken fried steak, etc.) to burgers and sandwiches to typical Tex-Mex of fajitas, enchiladas and the like. Been several years since I've been here. Was craving a cheap no frills steak and baked potato, and now that I'm back in this area more frequently this came to mind. Looks a little bigger inside, and done a little updating since last visit. Sit anywhere, grabbed the $13, 12oz ribeye, opted for the baked potato and mac n cheese. Salsa and chips are still really good. The steak was pretty great for the quality, honestly it was better than some steaks I've had at higher prices. In spite of the fake butter the baked potato was great. The mac n cheese was good, but never got around to it. Left stuffed, with tea it was $17 plus tip. A better deal I don't know of. I meet here with others nearly every week for breakfast. Everything comes out as it's plated, piping hot. The gals don't mix it up as much as the guys. I gotta say, fried pork chops or chicken fried steak with eggs are a big hit with them. I have dietary restrictions and so does another guest, they are always happy to accommodate. Just noticed my first review is missing. Great restaurant is my local to go for Tex mex. it's all about the salsa for me. They also prepare take out orders if you call in or walk in. We usually call it in and pick it up. The only thing I can critique is continue to improve customer service. It's not bad but there is room for improvement. Also I personally think there is so much potential for a really cool patio space out front for fair weather. The curb appeal could be easily improved and needn't require much investment to help set the mood for the type of establishment ie landscape. Definitely a jewel in the neighborhood though. Called in a to go order for breakfast today, 1 La Rueda Special and 1 order of the chicken fried steak breakfast. Hands down the best chicken fried steak I've had in a while. My eggs were perfect over medium, with breakfast potatoes and comes with biscuit/gravy. And comes with 1 pancake. Was about $17 for it all but was seriously a lot of food and was worth every penny!! This place is a diamond in the rough! I often drove by it just thinking it was your typical Tex-mex Restaurant. Come to find out the food is outstanding! It is a restaurant set up inside a two story house, so you have the option to eat downstairs or upstairs. La Rueda has flat screens and everything, so for all you sports enthusiasts! The first time I went with my mother, and I tried the Mexican Bistec (steak) dish. The steak had the best taste and it was cooked just right. I had it with a side of beans and rice, and both of those were really good as well. I tend to judge Mexican restaurants a lot when it comes to their beans and rice, and I LOVED these. Also the chips & salsa that you get as a free appetizer, are really yummy. I often end up pouring the salsa all over my main dish. I used to love this place but was disappointed in my most recent visit after a long time away. The nachos---always plentiful and tasty-- were a bit soupy this time, and the lettuce wasn't appetizing. I think you can request the nachos with real melted cheese instead of ballpark cheese. The paradilla has never disappointed, though. I always enjoy finding a delicious new restaurant on the east side. I'd been thinking about Mexican food all day so we tried La Rueda. Went early, around 5:30, and the place was almost full by time we finished our meal. The young girl waiting on us was friendly as she brought homemade chips (needed salt) with two kinds of salsa and suggested chicken tamales. They were light and fluffy and almost perfect with the side of homemade verde sauce. Refried beans were fresh and plentiful, and the rice had lots of little nommies like peas, carrots and green beans. My husband's beef enchiladas were delish as well. He said he should have stopped at two but had to eat the third. Our waitress was working the whole restaurant and cashiering and handled everything beautifully.
