So I've been scoping out this place for a while and finally had an opportunity where I was hungry and I said you know what I'm a try this. They had a drive-through and apparently it is better if you order before and then pull through the driveway because it could be a long wait. However, when I arrived around 2:15 PM it wasn't busy so I was able to order in the window and wait for it. It was ready in about five minutes. It was package great and was still hot once I got home. I ordered the tikka masala taco and the rotisserie and brisket taco. I thought the tikka masala taco was the best of all the ones I tried. It had excellent flavor, and really just was very filling. The rice was great. The seasoning great. I would definitely order the tikka masala taco again. The rotisserie chicken one was just a regular taco. It wasn't bad, but I'd probably branch out and try a few more flavors to see if they are as amazing as the tikka masala taco. The brisket taco was the same thing as a rotisserie one wasn't bad was actually really good but the tikka masala one was just so amazing that it was hard to overcome that flavor in that particular taco. I was also full after eating the tikka masala taco, and therefore had to save the other two for later. I really don't know how people order multiple tacos at these type places and are able to eat them. I was absolutely full from one taco and some chips and queso. I ordered the white queso and I found that to be very good as well with the purple chips. I also am a sucker for some red velvet cake. I found this real velvet cake to be not so fresh. It seem like one side was really tasty and the other was like the fridge raider got to it or something so I may have to try the that again. The flavor on the good side was pretty good but that flavor on the bad side just kind of turned me off. I would love to see how it tastes when fresh. However, since I'm really supposed to be on a diet, I'm not going to ding them one star for this cake. I will definitely return to this business to try more of the tacos to isolate my favorites so that I can stop by and just get those when I have a craving for unique fresh tacos. read more

So i had been to the atl location of Velvet taco and i had no idea it was in other states... Since i'm in Dallas now and my friends and i wanted some good food and drinks we decided to come here. The inside is a little small but they have a spacious patio that's super cute (& has fans bc why is it 111 degrees here ...) The guy who took our order was super nice and asked if we wanted an extra shot in our drinks and of course we said yes (it was only like an extra dollar) and yea you could definitely taste the alcohol... great decision if you're tryna start pregaming early lol I was also shocked at how many vegetarian options they had bc usually if i go anywhere there's just one veggie taco option. The beer battered cauliflower taco was a 12/10. Loved. The mediterranean one was good also but maybe a little too much dill flavoring for my liking. While the food is good they don't really give two shits about customers And I ask doesn't take more than good food to get you pay $8+ to eat taco..... ID ing a 60+ is harassment. I can buy adult drinks from restaurant, liquor store and grocery stores and never getting ID'ed. I find it to be bad judgment to harass people. Every taco drowning in overly sweet or salty sauces the fillings are meant to be a compliment and not a gravy drowning out the other flavors. Very different than the Dallas location. Not for me, I think. Just rename it to Dip Taco. The corn is now a queso and not just a lovely side. The elote corn, is now a queso ?? It was watery and not great. I guess because it's not meant to be a dip? Or is it. Place seems overrated to me. Anyway, I have a feeling that they train people better at the Dallas location. read more

Ordered to go last night. The line was out the door but the wait wasn't too long. I ordered the Nashville hot tofu and it was AMAZING - so much so I'm thinking of going for lunch today. My husband ordered the 3 & 3.5 and I guess it was good (didn't ask and don't care) bc this a going to be our new taco place. First had a chance to try Velvet Taco in Austin at the Domain. The only thing we didn't love about it was the line, and the Grapevine location - at least during the week - was much easier to get into and find a place to sit. Not a place to grab cheap tacos, as you'll spend about $5 per taco here, but the experience is a lot of fun and if you don't mind the price you won't find a better or more unique taco experience in the area! read more

My first meal ever in the Dallas area, outside a layover in DFW airport. Delicious! The #12 brisket taco was delicious! Others with me enjoyed their tacos: #16 fish & chips, #3.5 chicken, #2 rotisserie chicken...and others; all very good. And the twisted sangrita was also delicious; definitely sneaks up on you. Drive through is tight, the have an interesting selection of tacos. We chose a fish and chips, Angus brisket and Mexican spicy and lastly, to finish up the shrimp and grits. First impression is it's expensive second impression don't get much for your money third impression all of my tacos were dry. Really enjoying this new place in Grapevine. The brisket nachos are excellent and we've tried the angus steak tacos and flank steak tacos. Lots of flavor but a little spicy. My daughter doesn't like spicy but we've already been here a few times. You should order ahead and can then pick up in the drivethru. If you order in the drivethru lane, you'll be asked to park in the curbside pickup area and they'll bring it out to you. Love love love velvet taco and love that they're expanding! Got my normal, the picnic chicken and it was delish, fresh, and pretty. Service is pretty friendly and keeps everything clean. It is small but that's part of velvet tacos charm! I'd like to highlight one of the Managers, Gilbert. Both managers were working hard but I asked about a to-go order I ordered at the end of my meal and it wasn't ready so I went and sat down. Gilbert continued checking the line for it and when it was coming too slow he went back there and made my tacos himself and I thought that was really nice and great management. Great experience! I was so excited to try this place & unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The service was great, so no problem there. I had a shrimp taco & a salmon taco. The fillings were great--very creative & tasty, but they were both cold. This was very disappointing. My husband had a brisket taco which he said was pretty good & he had an angus taco which he didn't care for at all due to it being full of gristle & again, it was cold. Too bad..we really wanted to like this place. They had quite a crowd, so I guess a lot of people don't mind cold tacos. We did mind, so we probably won't return. read more
