After my visit to the Fort Worth location I had to try The Velvet Taco closer to the house. I know it was less than a week from the last visit but you know when you stare at a menu and you liked what you got but you are suffering from serious FOMO. I needed the kobe beef taco and it was everything I dreamed it would be. On our first visit to the grapevine location we noticed it's a little bigger but still has the cool vibe of the Fort Worth location. There is inside and patio seating. We chose the patio since it was a perfect February day in Texas. My husband went back for the chicken and waffle taco but he left off the veggies. It's still crispy chicken, peppered bacon, spicy gravy and maple syrup. It is everything you could want in a hand held food delivery apparatus. I had that just amazing Kobe burger taco with out cheese I am a none cheese eater but there was some sauce on there that will make you want to lick your hands and the paper it's wrapped in. Don't be embarrassed just lick it. I am planning another trip tomorrow there is a shrimp taco that I need to meet. One caution there is one bathroom so it can be occupied the entire time you are there that is the only negative I have found. read more

The tacos are creative and they have a different time limited taco every week called WTF (weekly taco feature). The Red Curry Coconut queso is massively addicting. It's worth going just for the queso. Some of my faves are the Buffalo Chicken, Spicy Tikka Chicken, Korean fried rice and the Cuban pig. Love, love, love velvet taco. I crave them. So much flavor and variety. Just wish one was closer. As it is we have to make a special effort and go all the way into downtown Nashville, find parking and deal with all of the obnoxious drunk tourists in order to eat at Velvet Taco. But it's worth it. We have come to this location several times and the food never disappoints. Had a strange interaction with the staff at the last visit. My friend and I wanted to split the last taco so we started searching for a knife, no plastic knives in the restaurant. The we approached the counter and asked the lead to team lead to cut the last taco in half. Seems like a reasonable request... They absolutely refused to cut any tacos in half. I was staring at a knife used on the food prep line line less than 5 ft from me and even asked the manager refused to cut it, no luck. No cutting the taco masterpieces they assemble per company policy. So... we were forced to rip the taco in half on our own and spill most the contents on the counter (they do not give plates, only wax paper. Still boggles my mind why they would not cut tacos... perhaps to dive up sales and avoid portion splitting? This would seem logical from a business standpoint, but not for any reasonable customer who already paid for the food. So in conclusion, if you plan to split the last taco BYOK to the restaurant to avoid an embarrassing scene at the taco pick up counter. read more

I've been to the one in Fort Worth and enjoyed some delicious tacos. This installation is not the same. I get it. It's new opening. Food quality was subpar. Our tacos were cold. With high expectation because of rave reviews from my friends, I was disappointed with chicken tikka, paneer tikka, fish & chip along with the Cuban . After waiting 20 mins for the food on a busy Sunday evening at the restaurant , the food came out cold. Chicken was over cooked. Tortillas was harden. Moreover My To go didn't come with any salsa. First visit to Velvet Taco yesterday afternoon. The atmosphere is really nice, good covered patio and a wide range of menu items. I had the sweet chile shrimp and my wife had the grilled steak. We ordered a side of Elote and Chips to go. The tacos were actually quite good, but nothing like the overflowing photos from their website. My shrimp tacos had 3 quarter size shrimp and maybe a spoonful of slaw. About 4 bites and you're done. My wife's grilled steak came cut in small pieces with maybe a tablespoon of steak. The Elote was good with plenty of blue corn chips to dip. Overall for $20 + 18% tip the meal was way overpriced for what you get. read more

So I've been scoping out this place for a while and finally had an opportunity where I was hungry and I said you know what I'm a try this. They had a drive-through and apparently it is better if you order before and then pull through the driveway because it could be a long wait. However, when I arrived around 2:15 PM it wasn't busy so I was able to order in the window and wait for it. It was ready in about five minutes. It was package great and was still hot once I got home. I ordered the tikka masala taco and the rotisserie and brisket taco. I thought the tikka masala taco was the best of all the ones I tried. It had excellent flavor, and really just was very filling. The rice was great. The seasoning great. I would definitely order the tikka masala taco again. The rotisserie chicken one was just a regular taco. It wasn't bad, but I'd probably branch out and try a few more flavors to see if they are as amazing as the tikka masala taco. The brisket taco was the same thing as a rotisserie one wasn't bad was actually really good but the tikka masala one was just so amazing that it was hard to overcome that flavor in that particular taco. I was also full after eating the tikka masala taco, and therefore had to save the other two for later. I really don't know how people order multiple tacos at these type places and are able to eat them. I was absolutely full from one taco and some chips and queso. I ordered the white queso and I found that to be very good as well with the purple chips. I also am a sucker for some red velvet cake. I found this real velvet cake to be not so fresh. It seem like one side was really tasty and the other was like the fridge raider got to it or something so I may have to try the that again. The flavor on the good side was pretty good but that flavor on the bad side just kind of turned me off. I would love to see how it tastes when fresh. However, since I'm really supposed to be on a diet, I'm not going to ding them one star for this cake. I will definitely return to this business to try more of the tacos to isolate my favorites so that I can stop by and just get those when I have a craving for unique fresh tacos. read more

So i had been to the atl location of Velvet taco and i had no idea it was in other states... Since i'm in Dallas now and my friends and i wanted some good food and drinks we decided to come here. The inside is a little small but they have a spacious patio that's super cute (& has fans bc why is it 111 degrees here ...) The guy who took our order was super nice and asked if we wanted an extra shot in our drinks and of course we said yes (it was only like an extra dollar) and yea you could definitely taste the alcohol... great decision if you're tryna start pregaming early lol I was also shocked at how many vegetarian options they had bc usually if i go anywhere there's just one veggie taco option. The beer battered cauliflower taco was a 12/10. Loved. The mediterranean one was good also but maybe a little too much dill flavoring for my liking. Every taco drowning in overly sweet or salty sauces the fillings are meant to be a compliment and not a gravy drowning out the other flavors. Very different than the Dallas location. Not for me, I think. Just rename it to Dip Taco. The corn is now a queso and not just a lovely side. The elote corn, is now a queso ?? It was watery and not great. Ordered to go last night. The line was out the door but the wait wasn't too long. I ordered the Nashville hot tofu and it was AMAZING - so much so I'm thinking of going for lunch today. My husband ordered the 3 & 3.5 and I guess it was good (didn't ask and don't care) bc this a going to be our new taco place.
