We go to this location often, and have only had great experiences. The food is consist and service is always fast. The Buffalo chicken is by far my favorite. My husband loves the breakfast tacos. We've made it a mission to try them all! They also have Coke Zero, which is a huge plus for me. Also a great place to go when counting calories, because they have all of the calories listed. We always feel like we got a great deal too, with each taco being about $5. We can get out for a pretty good price for great food. The queso blanco is also a must for us when we go. I love velvet tacos. I was so excited to take my family and share with them the yumminess of this place. The staff was really nice asking if we had been there before and making recommendations. When my mom felt like her corn tortillas were not heated properly they remade her tacos quickly. There was plenty of sitting and clean bathrooms. I had the Buffalo chicken tacos which were delicious. I came to this location a couple hours ago before they closed, the young lady in the front started screaming at what I'm assuming was a kitchen worker? It was very rude and unprofessional. I could not believe someone could talk like that to another coworker, saying they didn't "need him". We were visiting the area and looked for a great taco restaurant. We hit the jackpot! This place was quite a find. Definitely a home run! Tacos are a La carte but are huge! Menu selections are wonderfully thought out and creative. We tried the Tikka Chicken, Quesa Birria Duo and beer battered cauliflower. The chicken tikka had to weigh about a pound! All delicious! The tacos are so good!! They have several eclectic tacos. The rotisserie chicken taco with queso is one of my favorites. A bit pricey but it's a happening place. We always stop here when we're in the area. Was bummed they got rid of the breakfast tacos, but I understand the demand wasn't there. It's been...years I think since I ate at the one on 7th across from Montgomery Plaza. When that location first opened I ate there several times over the span of a year or so, even tho it's a location from hell, super small parking lot, and a feat of genius getting in and out of the place. In other words, the lot it's on sucks because of traffic and the amount of business they do. I guess at some point I finally gave up with the amount of trouble it was just to visit. Was happy to see this one opening up. It's actually closer to me and I'm up in this area for business from time to time so when it opened recently I went back to see if I was missing anything. I got what I remembered to be the old go to, a Cuban Pig taco, and the elotes corn, which I seemed to remember were pretty good. Well, I'm so glad I came back because now I know how good this stuff is. The Cuban Pig is probably the best fancy taco I know of, and the elotes corn are the best I've gotten anywhere. Seriously great stuff if you like the fancy taco places, and Velvet Taco tears up Torchy's any day. The Cuban Pig has pulled pork, ham and bacon, with a few veggies and some good pickles. I put a little of the heat sauce (which didn't seem as hot, cause it used to be searing hot) and some Valentina sauce. I think it's one of the best taco's on their menu. I see where they now give you chips with the elotes corn and I guess some of you may think this is nice, but I think it's a waste of chips. Get over it, get your spoon and dig in. Also, put some of the heat sauce in them, stir it up and get to wolfing. Some serious good elotes eats. Anyway, look forward to more often visits. This location isn't much bigger than the one on 7th. Has a bigger patio, tho. There is more parking, but it's pretty tight. Looks like you'll be able to share more spaces with whatever they're building next door. When I went mid afternoon there were a lot of cars in the lot. But when I got inside there was obviously more employees than customers. So, once they get past the shakedown point, probably free up a few spaces. They have a couple different margaritas they offer. Frozen and rocks. Look interesting but can't believe they got much bang for the buck, but you never know. I'm still going with a five star, even tho the beer selection is all can and all garbage. If not mistaken, there were three kinds of light beer for sale, and Dos Equis. Boring as hell. read more

Oh terrible Velvet Taco! We made a mistake of going to one our favorite places right before it closed and ordered chicken tikka tacos. What we ate was crispy chicken batter in a tortilla with minimal sauce. It was actually gross. Soooo dissapointing! Never had a bad experience ever at Velvet Taco. On top of bad food...The lady cleaning the dining area was actually rude to a customer throwing away trash because she had removed the trash can and he didn't know. Completely her mistake! 4 stars for the food but less than 5 because all of the locations we have been to have literally zero standing room while you wait for your food. This location has a drive thru which is super cool. It's a great spot for group socials but it's kinda loud. It's a relaxed environment ladies so jeans are cool and it's a great spot to hit after a night out. During the summer nights, the outdoor seating area is cute for a casual date night with bae, "tacos under the stars" would be a cute insta caption Please figure out the standing room issue. By design, you have to either stand in front of the side door, drink station or breathe on people as they sit and eat. The most obvious option is to have a seat but then those dining in have to stand to eat like elephants. read more
