We've driven by hundreds of times and finally tried Ojeda's. The decor was bright and cheery and I really liked the hanging birds by the windows. The chips were addictive and we had to make ourselves stop eating them to save room for chicken sour cream enchiladas. Service was friendly and attentive. You could tell that regulars frequent the restaurant by their conversations with the servers. It had a cute "Cheers" vibe. read more

My wife and I have been going to Ojedas for over 20 years; Dallas location 5 as well as the Garland location before it closed. So we go to the Plano location because it's closest to us. The food is amazing BUT there are 2 male servers that have the worst attitude and ruin my appetite. I stopped dining in the restaurant last year, my wife still dines in the restaurant, because I had enough of these 2 servers attitude. Context- my wife and I are attempting to have dinner and our server had the worst attitude, it was so bad I asked him if I did something wrong and if I did I'm sorry. When our food arrived, we asked for to-go boxes because we were extremely annoyed. This past week my wife and her friend visited Ojedas and she got me some food To-Go. She told me again about the poor attitude of the older male server. On the bright side the female servers have always been very nice and RESPECTFUL. Unfortunately, my wife and I have decided to no longer give our business to the Plano Ojedas location. read more

Let's start with the fact that there is a huge banner outside that says it was voted Best Tex-Mex in Plano. I respectfully disagree. Very cute interior and ambiance. Service was attentive, friendly and quick. But the food...was lacking personality and flavor. It was just bland - bland presentation and bland tasting. I didn't take photos. I was so disappointed. My friend ordered fajitas and it just came out all on one plate - nothing sizzling. It actually looked room temperature. Nothing to make it look appealing. They won best tex mex in plano? how? this was below mid so I'm questioning the city of plano's taste buds. I got the lunch specials of mona, came with one puff taco, an enchilada, rice, and beans. Came with chips and salsa. Their ground meat was mushy in the puff taco, it was like dog food quality. I took a bite and threw the rest away. The enchilada I finished but didnt care for. There was no seasoning. I was still hungry after. It was bland. Salsa wasnt that great either. Would not recommend. read more

We ate here and loved the salsa (just the right heat) and a unique flavor. Chips were thin and fresh. I had the three chalupas and they were yummy. We also had tacos which were good and cheese enchiladas which were very tasty. Ojedas has their own recipe for TexMex and it's a winner. My daughter is 58 and this has been her favorite restaurant since she was six. Always good service and a fun atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Try it I think you will like it. read more

The waiter stopped in the middle of taking our drink order to go take this other tables drink order that came in after us. Was very short with us just for asking questions about the drinks. He never even took our food order. Never even asked if I wanted anything other than water to drink. We waited 40 minutes before we just paid for the one drink and left without even getting our food order taken even though we knew what we wanted to order from the beginning. When we checked out for just one drink they didn't even wonder why we didn't eat or apologize or anything. If you don't have enough servers don't seat more guests. read more

It's been a while since we've been to this restaurant. My new husband and I dated back in the 90's and frequented Ojeda's in their old location frequently. So lots of memories. We were seated quickly and our waiter was fabulous. We ordered the queso but it didn't quite have the kick we wanted so we added some salsa and that did it! By virtue of my native Texan status,I'm always on the look for a sloppy good plate of satisfying Tex Mex. Ive been driving past this location for years and decided,today's the day. I've eaten at a couple of their other locations and the original is not far from where I grew up. I would characterize their cooking along the lines of Texas Hispanic home cooking. When my husband and I want Mexican food, Ojeda's is the first place we think of. We have never been disappointed here, and our favorite meal is the soft cheese taco. I've been coming to ojedas for about 15 years. It's not my favorite, but my wife's family likes it. It's not very good tex mex. No seasoning or spice. They do have good salsa, but that's about it. The yellow cheese they use on everything is my first real complaint. I grew up on welfare and it tastes like government cheese. It's not cheddar. It's not velveeta either. They top their salad with it, melt it on their nachos, and base the queso with it. Just bad all around. The service was fine. The decor seems old and out dated. This place had been around a while, but everything just seemed worn down and hasn't been updated for a long time if ever. Save the calories and money and go to literally anywhere else. I finally convinced my wife to see what I see. Taste what I taste. She fully agrees and hopefully I won't have to go here again. This is not tex mex. It compares to el Fenix. Haven't been to an Ojedas in many years. We were surprised to find one close to us, so we jumped at the first chance we had to go. First off, we got there a bit early, so it wasn't yet busy, though it got busier by the time we were leaving. The enchiladas were so good, and the tortillas they cc were wrapped in were very soft. Great flavor. I think I detected a hint of cinnamon, which is very traditional in Mexican cuisine. Also the puffy taco was stuffed absolutely full. Delicious! The service was quick and very much on point. The only minor negative is that I would have liked the food to be a bit hotter temperature wise. Otherwise it was a very pleasant experience. My boyfriend loves this spot in Desoto and we found one in Plano and decided to give it a try. I absolutely love the GUISO DE RES which is the Mexican style beef stew, rice and beans. Also their menu says it's gluten free if that matters to you. There was a large amount of beef in there which was soft and savory. I love it so much! Will definitely be coming back again. read more

Great, locally owned restaurant. These are undoubtedly the friendliest staff anywhere. We drove past this place for years not realizing it was even there (as it's in the corner of a predominantly Asian shopping center. Boy, do we feel like we missed out by not finding the earlier. The food is super fresh, and there is always more than enough. One thing we love is that their apps come in even numbers. So many places portion their apps in odd numbers, and that's always a juggle with the last piece. Not here! We can split everything evenly. Tex-Mex was born in Texas aftertall, and I grew up with it. When it's done right, it's delicious. And Ojedas has been doing it right for years. I've visited the original Maple Ave location many times, and since Ojeda had a Plano location nearby where I was staying, it was a natural choice. And a good one. This is Tex-Mex. Great cheese enchiladas, beans that can't be beat (so much better than most re-fried beans out there), and good rice. And the "new" added touch of some fajita meat on top of the enchiladas. Food was good and came out fast. I had a yelp offer for a free dessert but my server was confused when I showed it to her. She said a manager would come over but that never happened. Oh yeah Normally get the Caldo de Reyes and I'm a huge fan. Very filling and the stock is awesome so the Caldo is amazing. Plenty of beef and veggies. It is my go to meal. Must try this. It's understated and delivers in a big way. Today the star was beef fajitas. The beef was definitely special. Perfectly tender and seasoned Just right. I recommend you save your money and eat elsewhere. The food was underwhelming. The fish tacos, in spite of how oily they were, lacked any notable flavor or texture to excite my tastebuds. The chicken mole was better, but I wouldn't order it again. The service was a solid 2/5. Everyone was polite enough, but it was annoying to have to wait at the register for 5 minutes before anyone attended to me, despite the fact that there were only three other parties in the restaurant. Came here for lunch on a Sunday and was seated quickly. This place was pretty average in terms of Tex Mex food. The chips needed salt and the salsa was ok. It was pretty plain and tasted just like tomatoes. I got the mole chicken enchiladas and they were good, but I've had better ones at other places in dallas/Plano. read more

I was pretty sure I had reviewed Ojedas but oh well, here I go...again! This place is solid in my opinion, but not exceptional. The Service always starts out great and then by the time you want your check it seems like you have to hunt your waitperson down, which is a pet peeve of mine. The food is middle of the road and probably my favorite thing I have gotten here are the breakfast tacos. A family favorite is the Chicken Especial, which is basically a grilled chicken best smothered in a sour cream sauce. read more

Always an excellent experience. I was a long time customer of the Maple location in Dallas but moved to Addison 5 years ago. I now frequent this Plano location & the staff is equally as friendly & pleasant as the Maple location. I make sure to stop by at least once a month to now. If you're in the mood for a mango drink and are a fan of chamoy, try their mango chamoy frozen alcoholic beverage. It is so delicious and I order at least one per visit. If you're into shots I recommend the Mexican candy shot. read more
