The food and service was delightful! The tables were set far enough apart for social distancing, with plenty of hand sanitizers available for everyone. You have to put your mask on when a a server reaches your table, which I think is a good way to try and protect the people who work there. The dishes that were particularly memorable were the green beans, steak, and one of the meat pasta dishes. The green beans were charred and salted enough to give them a really great flavor without masking/losing the bean flavor. The steak was cooked to perfection, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth tender. I'm a salt fiend, especially on pieces of meat, and this did not need any help from me- it was seasoned perfectly. The bucatini was served with a type of creamy meat sauce, and mint. The mint was surprising; it really made the whole dish fresh and new, yet familiar because who hasn't had pasta before. I highly recommend, and am looking forward to going back! read more

I am awarding 3 only because i had such high expectations that I was a little let down (probably deserves at least 3.5). The steak tartare was just okay; I would strongly recommend they cut the bread much, much thinner; I don't want a huge hunk of bread with every bite; as thin as possibly for me. The veggie appetizer was nice, but not remarkable. The burrata was really good, but again with the thick bread - people like me are trying to eat less bread, not huge chunks. My son's pasta with meat sauce was good, but again, not remarkable; the flavors were decent but didn't have any "pop". The pasta with asparagus was good but the portion was pretty small - I don't need huge portions but it was just pasta and asparagus (not rare, high priced meat/seafood), and all told, it was probably about three stalks of asparagus cut into small pieces. I do like the open kitchen, and the gentleman in the kitchen were super-nice. Cute place, nice atmosphere. Overall - good, not great. read more

We came here for restaurant week and were very happy with our experience. The service was prompt and friendly, our waters were refilled throughout the night, but most important of all: these guys know how to season food the right way. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. They let us have a bite of each appetizer, and every dish had a great balance of flavors. My only reservation would be on the bread thickness, which some people in our party had a tougher time with. The beef tartare was smooth, the halibut was crisped up on one side and had this lovely pea and mint sauce with pea vines, and the salted caramel gelato with the chocolate terrine was not too sweet, but just sweet enough to be a dessert that was accompanied by a touch of salty and smoky flavors. I went here during Seattle restaurant week The restaurant was a bit small but the food was excellent. Beef tarts was my favorite. The presentation was delightful and crunchy bread. We had a reservation for a Tuesday evening at 7:45. The restaurant was still rather full with only and extra table or two open. Looks like people do late dinners here! Very nice atmosphere, it was a warm day so they had their main window open which provided good air circulation, but was not drafty. Service: Amazing, waters were always topped off, empty plates cleared quickly, share plates and silverware replaced between courses. Everyone worked together to make sure we didn't need anything. Food: Everything looked amazing, beautiful presentation on all courses. I thought the pork chop was rather dry (as with most pork chops). It was served with a little pink, which helped, but I think a brine or maybe even a different preparation would have helped. Nice sear on the outside that was coated with seasoning. The tagliatelle itself was a very dry dish as well. May have been the combination of type of cheese on the inside with the cheeses it was topped with. This was a small dish as well, only 7 pieces. Beef tartare lacked flavor, but had a great texture. Left me wanting something acidic to go with it though or even some salt and pepper. The paccheri was good, would definitely come back for that again! The lamb cheeks tasted like an oxtail, with a hint of gaminess. Very tender! House made pastas, this one may have been cooked a few seconds too long as it was more tender then I would have preferred. Hamachi had too much going on for me, masked the flavor of the fish. Toasted hazelnuts, which added a nice crunch, sweet from the grapes and drizzled with oil Snap peas was very refreshing, very heavy handed with the lemon though, but would definitely order again! If they have a seasonal menu, I would come back again to try some of their other dishes! read more

We went to Vendemmia last week to celebrate a friend's birthday and everything was so awesome! We had the chefs tasting menu and everything we tried was delicious. Our server Sophia was so informed and fun, she really made my friend feel celebrated. We were also all really excited by their fun and different spirits!! I got to try an Italian gin that is my new favorite and I ended my meal with a local amaro that was so good. I can't wait to go back! read more

Went here for husband's birthday dinner on a nice, rainy Sunday evening. I made reservations about a week before and when we arrive we got seated right away, the place was clean and had open kitchen concept which we really like. We decided to share everything. So ideas popping up and we decide to get a few things for starters: the Tombo which was Albacore tuna for the moment, and snap peas crab salad which I forgot to take pictures of since we were so excited to try everything. Tombo was really good, fish was raw in the middle. Salad was awesome too, it was fresh, sweet, and delicious. Nice way to start the evening! And then we're ready for the real deal so we got: spaghetti with tomato sauce, paccheri with wild prawns, foie Gras on a crostini, and baguette with balsamic and olive oil. Let me tell you, all dish was a winner. We had and finish everything and the only thing we regret is we don't get to try everything on the menu. Our waiter was attentive and super informative, we appreciate his work on our table. Why the 4 stars then? Well, there are a few things that we noticed that aren't consistent with the menu: Tombo: this was ordered from the Raw or Cured section. And like I mentioned, it was raw in the middle, but obviously cooked on the outside and it was grey-ish. We kind of (or maybe shouldn't?) a chirashi grade tuna, kind of dark red and fresh. They were good still. Foie gras: we expected a pate on a crostini, we got a mousse instead. It was really delicious, don't get me wrong. But I wish it was mentioned that we'll get a mousse instead of a pate. Maybe they can be more accurate on the menu description so we don't get surprised by the actual food. It was a good place nonetheless, we are thinking of coming back some time in spring! read more

Came here for the first time during restaurant week with a friend last night and this place is DELISHCIOUS. Everything was cooked so well and the presentation was nice. We had the hamachi crudo, porchetta di testa, bitter greens, and roasted delicate squash for the apps. I don't think I have ever liked a bitter salad so much! The crostini for the porchetta was crispy yet so soft. We both had the scallops for our entree and they were spectacular. The panna cotta (my second favorite dessert) was a great consistency. Most places make it too runny. The drinks were solid too! I'll definitely be back. The venue is small so reservations are recommended. read more

We came for our wedding anniversary. Leia, our server was fabulous! We did the tasting menu and the apps, pasta, and mains were excellent. The wine pairings Leia suggested were also fabulous. The dessert, however, was a disappointment. Our 13 year old turned out far more impressive desserts earlier in the day. And we were frustrated to pay $18 each for tiny and underwhelming Negronis. Hope Vendemmia can improve upon its dessert options and its value. read more

I had the most unbelievable odd occurrence this evening. I walk in with my family, order appetizers, and order a glass of wine. Eventually the manager comes by and ask if I would like another glass. I said of course, and she walked away. And then in got weird. A different server stops by my table and asks if she can get us anything (8-10 min later). Thinking that the manager forgot (or was too busy), I said I'd like another glass of wine before my entree. She told me no more wine. I originally thought that they were out of the bottle I was drinking, so I asked if I could have something else. She said that I could have ginger ale but that I could not be served wine. Stunned (I honestly thought my wife put her up to it as a trick) I asked if I had done anything wrong. No clarification given, she told me she could get me something else, but that I was cut off from being served (and told this in front of the restaurant). I asked for the check. The manager, unaware of what was going on stopped by, and I asked her if I had done something wrong. Puzzled, I told her that I was cut off. She said something about miscommunication and told me that of course I wasn't. By this time it was too far gone. The server was adamant that I couldn't be served, gave me no reason why, and essentially patronized me. My family was stunned, and I was treated as an infant (maybe justified at time, but not here :)). The server eventually came over and offered a lame apology (manager was much nicer), but the complete lack of ownership and genuineness on behalf of the server was unforgivable. Completely ruined the evening. Fortunately for me, Cantinetta in Wallingford was on the way home. We ended up with a great dinner, and now know to eat elsewhere when in Madrona (which is every day). read more

First of all, the atmosphere w/ open bar and kitchen and a very light and airy space was lovely for a calm, weeknight date. There were also a couple of families dining there, and this did not disrupt the vibe. We ordered one dish each from the four sections of the menu: beef tartare, snap peas, bolognese, and the steak. The steak was wonderful, and the potatoes and sauce the side were both surprising and yummy. We felt that the bolognese was good, but we would have enjoyed more meat in the sauce. The beef tartare and snap pea salad were INCREDIBLE...our favorite parts of the meal. If we went again we would probably skip a pasta dish an order a couple more smaller plates. The bartenders made a delicious mock-tail when I inquired about one (despite not having any on the menu)! The only reason that I'm giving four stars instead of five was because of service. Though the waiters and waitresses were very attentive at first, they became less so as the meal went on and there were several times when we needed some assistance and the staff was split between helping customers at the outdoor tables and working behind the bar. Despite this, we will definitely be back to Vendemmia for all the reasons described above! read more

Out of all the restaurants in Seattle, Vendemmia is in our top three rotation. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the service--always spot on. I am currently pregnant and even my mocktail was delightful; I've been finding mocktails to be overly sweet when I order them, but this one was just right. Our first course was the broccoli (not photoed bc we devoured it so quickly); my husband declared this was the best broccoli of his life. The crab and snap peas second course was light and fresh. The pasta course was the standout to me, perfectly al dente and so flavorful with the mushrooms. When I asked our server to bring a second glass so I could have a nip of my husband's wine, she brought me my own little pour on the house. It's the little things. We will keep coming back to this neighborhood gem. read more

Had 4 course dinner here, received more than 4 courses of food. The clam spaghetti was a little bit too salty and the salmon could be seasoned a little bit more, and the sauce didn't go as well together with the salmon as it could have. Otherwise the quality of the meat of the salmon was superb, the salmon was smooth and very orange/high quality. read more

This place is trying to be fancier than it is with both pricing and ingredients (Uni on top of butter pasta, crab in with snap pea salad, "house made" focaccia that taste no different than non-house made focaccia). My husband and I dined here on a date night and loved the food (got the tasting menu) so I decided to host a surprise milestone birthday dinner for him in the back room with 13 guests. What can I say except everything was absolutely incredible! Sylvain made sure we would be accommodated every step of the way during the planning process and the whole thing was a complete and utter surprise to my husband. The food was incredibly varied, delicious, perfectly prepared, the perfect temperature, and plentiful. Everyone was literally raving about the food. We loved that we got to sample seriously everything on the menu -- for example, not just one pasta dish but three! I honestly cannot explain to you how astounded everyone was with each and every course. Almost half of the guests flew or drove from out of town for the surprise so I wanted this to be a super memorable experience, and it was! Good place to come for for a group of 2-4 people, but not much larger than that. We recently came in for restaurant week which is what this review is for. Overall, the food was enjoyable and we had a good experience. We liked the portion sizes and thought their seafood offerings were particularly noteworthy. Possibly the best cooked and seasoned scallop I've tasted. Also the most beautifully presented and brightest bite of hamachi I've had in recent memory. Wow. No glaring flaws in the meal, only that some of their dishes were clearly better than their others which made the meal feel a bit disjointed. The pasta was a little overcooked and ate too salty and spicy. I could still taste the spice heading into dessert. Next time we also would forgo the olive oil cake as it was a little too dry and sweet, wished their were some berries to brighten it up. Overall we have a good experience and would come back, but I'll stick to Il Corvo for pasta. read more

I came here for mothers day with my family. We ordered all the pasta available in the menu: spaghetti, taglietelle, paccheri, ravioli and a steak that was supposed to feed a lot of people (I forget ehat it was, it's been a while). We also ordered the mixed greens and bread, as they are not complimentary. I don't know if you're supposed to eat pasta that way, but the noodles did not feel all the way cooked, as all the noodles to the pastas were that way my family assumed, that's the way it's supposed to be cooked but, it wasn't the way we would prefer. The food overall wasn't bad, just not mind blowing. The service though, was phenomenal. read more

We live in West Seattle and eat at Raccolto quite often. We couldn't get into Raccolto and decided to check out the sister restaurant as we have heard they are very similar. It was surprisingly not busy like Raccolto is all the time. Which was good for us! We ordered the burrata and tomatoes for an appetizer. The burrata was creamy and very delicious and paired so well with the tomatoes. I cam't remember what dishes we got for main courses but we both got pasta and they were both very delicious. I liked that pasta dish so much! I would highly recommend this restaurant! read more

This was one of the 10 best meals we have ever had and can't wait to come back. We had 6 different dishes and even though it was a lot of food for just the two of us we licked every plate clean. The pork chop and white truffle cavatelli pasta in particular were on par with dishes at Michelin starred restaurants. The aforementioned pasta came with extremely generous amounts of white truffle shavings and was well worth the $39 price tag. It was ridiculous how good the spaghetti was. I hope the chef/owner continues to cook even after this restaurant becomes impossible to get a table at! read more

I read about Vendemmia in an article in the Times. I am a sucker for expensive and delicious Italian food, and cheap delicious Italian food. Vendemmia falls into the first category, but a visit will NOT disappoint! The item I was most attracted to on their menu before visiting was the Dungeness crab salad. This dish did NOT disappoint! I felt jealous eyes on my dish from around the table, but I never offered to share (that good). For my main course, I had no choice but to go for the Bolognese and use the dish as a true benchmark for their authenticity. Authenticity grade? A+ Of course I've had less expensive bolognese that I enjoyed very much, but the ingredients of this dish were top notch. I could taste the freshness... and it was clearly not something that had been sitting in the pot all day. The atmosphere is fantastic. It is a smallish place, but given the location, I think this is way okay. The ambiance feeds your need for intimacy, without being so dark that you forget what your date looks like (try El Gaucho for that experience). Madrona is slightly out of the way for me, but I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again! Go eat some pasta, and put crabs on your salad! read more

Vendemmia is a new restaurant from an accomplished chef (he use to work in Ethan Stowell's restaurants), and while the food is excellent, the whole experience feels incomplete and unfinished. First, the food. The green beans had a good balance of salt, oil, and char, better than the version from Staple & Fancy. The paccheri pasta (thick tubes) comes with a generous topping of pork, simple, tender, with a non-tomato based sauce. The black cod entree is perfectly flaky with crispy, salty skin, on top of potatoes and a creamy bechamel sauce. It was a very French preparation, and though I don't like French versions of fish, it was done well. I'd definitely come back to try the other dishes. Now, my complaints are going to sound nit-picky, but they all add up to make the eating experience uncomfortable. The acoustics in the restaurant are terrible, making every table's conversation sound much louder than it should. The walls are painted stark white, with some parts unpainted concrete, and the ceiling is unfinished with pipes and ventilation exposed. Even with the open kitchen, the whole atmosphere was cold and felt like a warehouse or a modern art gallery. There is none of the coziness or vitality from Ethan Stowell's places. It needs candles, warmer lights, a change of paint, more wood and brass. It needs some personality. The service was all over the place. When we entered, we were greeted by the chef, who then pointed us to the hostess. Then came a rotation of waiters, a different person every time. One lady brought us the dessert menu, but another guy came by to tell us about the flavors and take the order. They're all nice and friendly, but it is confusing and inconsistent to talk to different people. And the dessert... they completely neglected dessert. The "seasonal" gelato flavor was vanilla. Is there anything else on it? Waiter didn't say. The other options aren't any better. I don't think they have a dessert person. Anyway, these are just simple things to fix and I hope they don't get in the way of excellent food. read more

I have been here twice. The first I would rate a 4 star, the second is the reason for this review. My girlfriend and I went on a weeknight without a reservation. We were able to get seats at the bar fairly quick and were seated just before a second couple was seated next to us at the bar. The bartender proceeded to take both drink and food orders for the other couple before us which led to them receiving their food a good 15-20 minutes before us and being done eating before we'd even received our food. It took a VERY long time from ordering to receiving our food and, as good as it was, it truly seemed unreasonable to have been neglected like that. It really seemed like our order was missed or forgotten until we complained to the bartender and she went to check and told us it would be up shortly. The food is good but for the prices they charge, I expect to be served in a timely fashion and to not be pushed behind people who are seated after me. Very disappointed. read more

Went there on a date night on a Friday night at 6pm. The place was not full but was getting there towards end of our meal. I had high expectations coming in because I read up about the chef and saw that the menu was pretty pricey for Madrona neighborhood. It was good but it didn't knock my socks off for the price I paid. Food: -Well cooked but nothing that was memorable or food that I will go back for. -Very simple straight to the point menu. I like that! Everything is seasonal and fresh. - I ordered the spicy spaghetti for (around) $14. I was underwhelmed. It wasn't spicy enough for my taste and the spaghetti was not al dente as I liked it. I read from yelpers that some thought it was the best spaghetti they'd ever had. I guess it's hard to make something simple so GOOD! -Beet salad: was nice and clean. Very light and delicious. -Beef Taretare: ok I might go back for that. But that's about it. -Scallops: $24 for 3 scallops and some veggies. But the scallops were fresh. That's about it. -Pork dish: Taste good but nothing I haven't had anywhere else. Ambiance: -Dark, quiet, and nothing special. Usually those places you let the food do the talking. but that didn't happen either! Service: -Very attentive. Maybe too attentive. We had the host come back to us maybe 8x during our meal to refill our half full water glasses. It was nice, but it was a little bit excessive because it interrupts our conversation. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood. We had five of the veggie/raw plates and two pastas. That was a little more than we wanted but much of the food was so good we didn't mind. The stars of the evening were the green beans (simple but miraculous) and the snap peas (which any other restaurant would list as "crab and snap pea salad"). The beet salad was excellent, the carrots a little bland and the hamachi very generous. The ravioli was colorful and perhaps a tad undercooked and the spaghetti simple with a kick. Since the kitchen is clearly about seasonal ingredients, the menu should be constantly changing and it will be fun to follow those changes throughout the year. read more
