The moment you walk in there is that smell of fresh bread and simmering sauce, and the room has this cozy trattoria feel with old school Italian crooners playing low in the background. It felt calm and personal, which is rare around here. The garlic bread rolls came out first and I could have made a meal out of just those, no shame. For dinner I got the Chicken Murphy, which is their signature, chicken with mushrooms and onions in a creamy pink sauce, and it was every bit as good as people say. My wife went with the lasagna and it was rich and layered and clearly made by hand. We split a tiramisu to finish and it was the right call. This place is a cute little hidden gem off of 380 in McKinney! The lobster ravioli is my favorite! The taste of Italy is also a nice option if you can't decide on just one entree, you get a little taste of 3 different things. The rolls are soft and delicious too! Very nice romantic restaurant in McKinney. Everything is so fresh and tasty. I've had the eggplant Parmesan, chicken Marsala, and chicken Parmesan. They have all been well prepared with fresh ingredients, all of the sauces taste like they're made by mom. Today I treated myself to the cheese pizza and was pleasantly surprised. It was perfect! I like the decor in this restaurant, it's not over done and commercial. It reminds me of how dining was before every place was part of a chain or part of some venture capital group. We had been meaning to try this place ever since it opened, and it was a bit of a letdown. The decor is nice, but the dining area seemed a bit small. They took up a significant portion of the dining room with a bar. Our server was uber-friendly! As for the food.....meh. The pizzas were greasy.. you couldn't pick up slices because the crust was soggy. The sampler appetizer was decent, but not generous on their portions for a "shareable". My daughter had the Philly cheesesteak, but said it wasn't as good as our usual cheesesteak place. I was pleased that they offered veal parmigiana, but again....small portion and the veal was fatty/chewy. Seasoning and sauce were ok. Not great. I don't think we will return. read more

We stopped by A Roma for lunch and had a really great experience. The service was just as good as the first time, attentive from the moment we walked in. We appreciated that there was open seating as that made everything feel relaxed and easy. The ambiance was just what we needed, calm and peaceful, which I personally loved. It's a nice spot if you want to enjoy your meal without all the noise and chaos you sometimes get during lunch hours. I decided to take a chance on the dish and it was delicious! I'm writing this as I'm leaving the restaurant on Valentines Day. I ordered the lobster again and it was just as good as the first time! The food was so good, the atmosphere was giving home style comfort, but that is not the reason for the 5 star review! The great review comes when I called and let them know that there was not chicken in one of my courses that I ordered. They gave me an option of either a refund or to remake the food. When I let them know I could come by and pick up the food that they were remaking they told me that they would be delivering it to me to make up for the mistake! I came in for my birthday, because I had a dish that was to die for before. I wanted it to celebrate. This time my salmon was overcooked and there was less pasta, less veggies, and barely any sauce like the first time I had it. It would be nice if they said they were bringing complimentary rolls because we weren't sure whether we should order the appetizer to get them. The salad was large and very good.
