Venice Honda scam alert - Read your contract carefully. They throw a lot of paper work at you with all kinds of different prices. I was charged $499.65 for something called "Total other charge and amount to others paid on you behalf". They basically snuck in a $500 charge for nothing. This is the reason everyone hates car sales men. Granted, it was my fault for not catching it, but I had no idea how dishonest this dealership was. I will never, ever shop their again. read more

Manipulative and dishonest. They ran a promotion in the mail with deals on new cars where you scratch off sections to determine whether you win a prize. I scratched off winning numbers for the "$2,500 cash prize". Everything is a scam nowadays, so I wasn't shocked when they handed me a $5 Walmart gift card instead. But it still really rubbed me the wrong way. I guess I'm getting my Honda serviced elsewhere now. I understand wanting to bring people in to look at your inventory, but my advice for next time would be to just say "you could win a mystery gift card". I was looking online one day at cars since my car wasn't going to last much longer. I saw a 2016 accord for $16,000 and decided to see if it was still available. I made an appointment to go in look at it. I decided to get it. The next day when I was looking at the paper work the car was actually $22,000. I was taken advantage of, this was the first time I ever got a car from a dealership since I'm only 19 years old. I was also charged a $1000 delivery fee and the 100,000 mile warranty that they said was for free turned out to be $2000. They were very pushy and mean when I said that I had to think about purchasing and almost walked out on me. I will never go back to Venice Honda. I suggest others do the same. read more

Brought my car here for a recall on my fuel injection pump. Made an appointment and when I came in to the service department they said the didn't have the part available. So I made another appointment for 4 or 5 days later. I brought my car in and it was like the service department was scared to do the work on it.... Todd my service department go to guy let me know it was a hard recall. I took a shuttle home and in 3 or 4 hours I came back to pick it up. My car smelled like pure gasoline . I couldn't breath while driving . It was intense. I drove around the area and went to the beach to hangout and sunset. Then home after that . In the morning I had multiple warning signs on my dash from my car computer. Somehow my gas tank was leaking air. I had plans to go to the laundromat and a job fair but had to immediately take my care back into honda. Ridiculous ... This time they gave me a rental and kept my car overnight. I was able to pick up my car the next day and there are no more computer messages but I've been totally inconvenienced and my car still reeks of gasoline. You would think they'd offer me a free car wash or something for my inconvenience, their errors and all my trouble. Oh well the next recall I'm going to ignore most likely. Update had to get my windshield replaced. The glass company was going to have venice honda do the re calibration. I showed up for my 8 am appointment. Todd my previous service writer came to greet me. This first thing out of his mouth was that" I cost his technicians 500$... then he said the dealership lost money because of my survey... I wanted to sell my car. I was contacted by Courtney. I told her I was offered $21.4k by carmax and she said what if I were to offer you $22k. I said it would be worth my time to drive 1-1/4 hours north for that. When I got there, they admitted my car was in excellent condition, but were only willing to offer me $21.5. So, I spent 2-1/2 hours driving roundtrip and they would not honor their offer? Not a good way to conduct business. This dealership is poorly run and practices traditional bait n switch techniques. Lack of management and training. They lie about vehicles on premises to get you there then try upselling other cars. I voiced my anger over this after driving the half hour to get a particular auto. At no point was management brought in. I was simply told sorry and allowed to walk out the door. I drove from California to visit my parents and when I arrived in Florida, a light came on in my 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid. On my trip, I had run over something on the interstate several thousand miles back, but didn't think anything of it since my car was working fine. Apparently, I did $2500 worth of damage to the underbody hybrid parts. Joe communicated with me and my insurance. The service department was very tolerant of my impatience to get back on the road and did excellent work. Once again, Venice Honda sales staff proves themselves to be condescending and absent of the simple ability to listen. 1 year ago I considered taking them up on an offer posted outside of their service area regarding trading my lease in early. The salesperson, Michael Rodriguez, worked up the numbers, I liked them, but he didn't have any of that particular make and model on the lot but would call me when he got one. Did he call me? No. Did I have to follow up? Yes. And when I did, they had the vehicles but the numbers were totally off from what he originally quoted then tried to tell me I was the one who was mistaken. Don't think so. Fast forward to this weekend, he calls to double check I still plan on turning in my lease and not renewing. I say that is correct to which he replies, "well, that's ok, you certainly have the right to make that choice." Are you kidding me? It's 100% my right and responsibility to make that choice!! I told him I didn't appreciate his tone or condescension - instead of apologizing and hanging up, he argued with me! How is this "sales" or at the very least "customer service?" I purchased a car from a salesman Frank, I put too much faith in them. When it was all said and done they screwed me. I thought they were honest with me but they got me. By the time I realized it they had shorted me $1500 on my trade and the spare tire and the jack were missing when I looked later. He and the finance manager were laughing. While I am giving Venice Honda great reviews and I have been very happy with them I would say to stay away from their sister store across the street as in my experience the employees are just nowhere near as good near as good. But this Honda dealership and service department are run very very well. Austin is a GREAT salesperson who knows his vehicles. Everyone in service is GREAT - Not many other dealerships can boast that. The management team all seems quite smart and responsive, and I have never met anyone here who is smarmy or a shyster. Called on a Thursday to verify where a vehicle was that I found on the website. Was told it was at a sister store by manager Kara, but they would be happy to have it brought down so we could look at the vehicle and not need to drive to Lakeland. Made the appointment time with Kara for Saturday first thing, arrive at our apartment time, for no one to know what's going on. No truck there, we have to AGREE on a PRICE! Excuse me, I will not be agreeing on a price for something that isn't there when I specifically said I wanted to know where the truck was so I could see it. They wasted our time and a babysitter two hour driving and an hour of two sales guys and the GM. Terrible service. Don't recommend at all. They did not put in the correct license plate number on our registration, which ended up being an entire mess. Once we were pulled over and had realized what happened, our car got towed, we were left in the middle of nowhere late at night (that's North Port Police for ya) had to get a traffic lawyer to fight the case and pay out of pocket, which wasn't even our wrongdoing, and had to wait months to finally get a check from Venice Honda. Not to mention, we took our car to get a maintenance check not too long ago, and the woman proceeded to TEXT and FLIRT with my husband in person. They also LIED about our brakes... this same woman said "she had never seen anything like it," and wanted to charge us thousands of dollars for brakes.. lmao...while we had 2 other professional mechanics that said there was still over 50% of life left on them.... Venice Honda went out of their way to make us happy with our purchase. First used car had a problem that was thought to be fixed. We had wanted that vehicle but they were upfront with us telling us it could take a very long time to first get a back ordered part then hope that fixed it. Instead, they sold us a brand new vehicle at near the same price! Amazing! we were shocked and extremely pleased with the deal and how they made it possible for us to get the vehicle of our dreams. Made a deal online with the internet salesman for a new CRV. We talked on the phone and confirmed the price. I had several emails confirming the price stating the price included everything. I even said this is the "drive out" price with no hidden fees and he said yes just the license tags not included. Ok, made the appointment and drove 1.5 hrs. When I arrived the price went up 3,000.!!! The 'ol bait and switch! They came up with all sorts of excuses (lies) even when I showed them the emails. I bought my preowned car at Venice Honda three years ago. They twisted my arm to buy a $3000 service contract for it since it was out of warranty. I've used them now for three years always with high bills even though nothing has been wrong with the car. So I've never been sure what I got for my $3000. Now I know! Six weeks ago I went in to have a faulty seatbelt replaced. I came out with a $600 bill for routine maintenance handled by a guy named Joe. Joe never called to say the seatbelt was in so I called them. It had been there for a month. Today I went in to have it replaced. After replacing it Joe told me I also needed a $200 radiator flush so I had that done. Then Joe called me again before picking up my car and said "your tires are in very bad shape and need to be replaced very soon as they had very little life left in them." He made me a deal for $800 but said "I'll give you a $50 discount!" I told him I'd have to wait awhile before I could afford that. I then went directly to Tire King in Nokomis to see what they would charge for four tires. They looked at my tires and said "your Michelin tires have a lot of life left in them. You do NOT need new tires!" Needless to say I will no longer use Venice Honda, nor will I ever buy another car from them! read more

Purchased a CRV. It's an excellent vehicle and lives up to its reputation. But that's where it ends. Jason Berlin quoted me a price in the 24k area. When I got home and filed my papers away a few days later, I noticed the price was in the 26k area. This is before all the fees and taxes were applied. I have called a bunch of times to inquire about the issue only to be put on hold and forgotten about or sent to a voicemail box. When I've asked to speak to Jason, he's always with another customer and NEVER returns my call. I guess it would be my fault for not looking closely at the papers, but I trusted Jason. Now I'm stuck paying 2500 more for my vehicle and they won't even return my calls. Horrible business ethics. Will NEVER do business there again. read more

Venice Honda Service Department rips people off. Be careful. I went for an oil change and was told I needed CV axel on passenger side. I agreed. Two hours later I got a phone call that I now needed CV axel on driver side too. The price kept going up. Two days later my crv was done. I noticed a loud clanking sound. I took my CRV to Pitstop after crawling underneath, taking pictures of the two axels Only one had been replaced and the new one was not installed properly by Venice Honda. I have written proof and photos. I eventually would have a new axel literally fall apart. I returned to Honda and the manager admitted he charged me for two axels and only installed one. I demanded a full refund. This company is ripping off people. read more

There's a reason why they have almost 80 reviews here and are only netting a 2-star rating. Do not trust this dealership! Do not trust Kara the sales manager! Do not trust Kyle the general manager! They use the bait and switch tactic. I understand why dealerships would do this but they knew I was driving an hour and a half to the dealership for this trade for this specific vehicle. When I get there it just mysteriously disappeared. Kara gave me all the numbers. I was happy. She told me the car would be waiting for me when I got there. When I get there it's gone. And they have another option where I can spend $6000 more. Classic bait and switch! I wouldn't be so upset if I lived locally but I drove an hour and a half to them. They knowingly did this. They claim it was a mistake. To get the vehicle ready while I drove there, they had an hour and a half to locate this vehicle. They could have called me and said Hey turn back we don't have it here. This dealership is unethical and dishonest! If you had a bad experience there- call Honda's Corporate Office and file a complaint like I did. Honda Corporate was very interested in what I had to say and I was told that my complaint would be filed against this dealership. We went to Venice Honda to buy a new CRV Hybrid. When we arrived we were told that they did not have one on the lot, and we would have to order one. We actually did not need the car right away and we were fine with this, but decided that while we were there we would look at other models they had. We checked out a HRV and decided it was too small. As we were getting out of the HRV, our salesman announced that it was our lucky day, because the exact CRV we wanted was just returned to the lot, because someone did not get financing. We were excited, I test drove the car and yes, we wanted to buy it. We met with the salesman to nail down the price and we noticed that approximately $3600 was added for the owner, and other non essential costs. We understood supply and demand and that many dealers are jacking up costs because there are just not enough cars to go around, so we told the salesman that if he can get the supply and demand charge down by $1000 the car was ours. I signed the agreed upon price and the salesman took the sheet to his manager for approval. Five minutes later the salesperson came back and said that the car was sold for $9,000 more than the asking price. We were enraged- how can a car that you are buying be on the lot for sale? At that point the manager came over and told us the same car but with Ivory interior was coming in on May 30th and we could have that car. We could not trust this sham of a dealership to fulfill this promise. How would we know that they wouldn't sell that car to a higher bidder also. Honda Cooperate was very responsive. They told me that this should NEVER have happened, if someone is buying a car, that car is considered off the lot. They also told me that each dealership is privately owned and managed, but complaints and in our case a loss of a sale for Honda would be investigated. We previously owned six brand new Honda automobiles and thanks to our experience at Venice Honda - we might not ever own another! read more

Do not purchase a vehicle from Venice Honda go to Wilde Honda Sarasota, Florida. I purchased a CRV 2016 from Venice Honda. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Do not go there while Honda of Sarasota Florida usually give their certified cars 100,000 miles warranty and Venice doesn't even give you 24 hours. It has not been a year yet and I do not drive it everyday! So Maybe about 24 hours after I purchased a vehicle the light came on for the tire, So I contact them and let them know after arguing with them they decided to give me one new tire. So the light came back on I was having problems with getting it off and they told me it was because I needed another new tire because the tread on that one was different from that one but since it was certified they didn't want to give me an additional tire to fix the problem they told me I would have to buy the second tire. Well I didn't buy the second tire so the light kept coming on even after I would turn it off but the whole time I'm just assuming it was because what they told me the tread on the tires that they gave me was brand new was the problem but no big deal. I do not drive the CRV all the time maybe on the weekends. So so the light thingy came on seeing and I needed a oil change which is kind of weird because I don't even drive the car if even four days a month. So I finally took the car to Weil Honda of Sarasota because I was in the area. So they told me that I needed a new battery and I was trying to figure out why if I haven't had a car for a year so I assumed that it was already bad. So I reached out to Honda Venice who knows that I only had the car not even a year yet and they said unfortunately they can't do anything I'll have to buy a battery which I've already known. So then after that I went to pay for my oil change and the guy let me know of all the stuff that needs to be done with the car any let me know I need three new tires. Should have read the ratings before driving all the way to Venice Honda! Was told on several emails I could buy a new CRV for window sticker, MSRP price and they would match another Honda dealer's value for my trade-in. This was mostly run by Kyle, but several other managers also emailed. When I met with my rep, Joey Dee, they took a cursory look at the trade-in and sent him to me with a proposal that included FIVE GRAND in add-ons and extra charges, and discounting my trade-in by one thousand dollars. Telling Joey Dee that he needed to check the emails I had with Kyle, the supposed manager, he disregarded that, and said that's how they sell all their new cars. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because I was out of there in pretty short order and on my way. I was definitely mislead on their pricing of new vehicles and am happy to share that info. I had my CRV serviced last Saturday August 11. Took it in for an oil change but they told me that they would do a general check that included checking the tire pressure. My wife drove this car to Miami Sunday and one of the tires blew out. Needless to say this could have resulted in a bad accident at highway speeds. She had to pay $100 to get the car towed and now she will have to buy a new tire and possibly a new rim. The pressure sensor did not warn of low pressure and when she got to Miami all tires registered pressures 10 psi below the recommended tire pressure. I call the service department to complain and have yet to receive a phone call from the service manager. I will not be servicing my two cars there anymore. We recently were looking to purchase a 2020 Honda CR-V Touring. We had a 2014 Honda CR-V that we had purchased from Venice Honda. We went to Venice Honda looking for the new vehicle. They didn't have exactly what we wanted, so we left to check other dealers. We went to another dealer about 10 miles away. They were very pleasant and gave us a quote for exactly what we wanted. We went back to Venice Honda because we had purchased our last vehicle there and it is closer to where we live. I told the sales person exactly what I was looking for and what I was quoted for the vehicle. He said that what we were quoted was very low and he didn't think he could match it but would check with the "manager". He came back with the manager and the manager said they could match the price with a different model. I told them that I was very specific on what we wanted. He told me I wouldn't be able to find the color we wanted and that either the other dealer or I was lying!!!! I told them that if they couldn't be competitive that's ok and I'll go elsewhere. The "manager" again tried to push a different vehicle. I said no thanks and left. The next day we went to the other dealer and purchased the exact vehicle we wanted for the price quoted. From the moment I spoke with Jim Timpson on the phone until we shook hands goodbye he was a NO pressure "how can I help you" gentleman. The whole Honda team- Michael the sales manager, Jim and Mr. Brunette, business manager were great dealing with us. They made sure we were comfortable and showed to us they appreciated our business. After the sale- deal is done- Jim spent almost an hour of his time not chasing other sales but explaining the operation and use of the technology in my wife's new CRV. Do not buy a used car from here. I chose Venice Honda after reaching out to multiple dealerships because of the ratings. I spent a week building rapport with Jennifer and telling her my needs. I wasn't in the best situation and stuck with a dump of a car and needed more reliable transportation since I am expecting. I was told I would be taken care of. I traveled from Sarasota to Venice after scheduling a time with her to purchase a car. When I arrived to the dealership she was not available and I was given over to Omar. Omar was great, we went on a test drive and he told me if there were any issues to bring the car back because "we're not that kind of dealership". I noticed a few quirks and immediately texted him my concerns, which he handed off to Jennifer - who texted me to bring my car in and have service dept look at it. Again, I scheduled a time to be there and she was not available again and didn't bother to inform anyone else the reason I was there so I received the runaround and ultimately left. Without my car getting looked at. They sold me a car with 300 miles to the next oil change, low fluids, and desperate need of a tuneup. I was interested in a vehicle here, I found it on the marketplace on Facebook. I asked them if it was available and they said yes. They asked for my phone number and I talked to a manager and he said that we would most likely get approved. They called me everyday, multiple times a day asking when I would be coming to look at the vehicle. I already set an appointment up, but they kept bothering me every day.
