Dropped in recently to check out their spec selections since I lived nearby and they are very highly rated on Yelp. I was the only customer there when I walked in and a young Korean man started helping me with selecting frames that worked well for my face. We both chose something that worked nicely after many attempts, but I just wanted to check out another place one more time before I decide. The lady and young man understood and would hold the frame for me temporarily. I left, only to realize the other place closed super early on Mondays. Just their luck. I came back and bought the pair of glasses I really liked on the spot. I got an awesome 20% discount off my frames and my insurance paid for most most of it. They make the lenses sometimes in house, so my glasses were ready literally the next day. Yahoo!! I loved my glasses once I put them on. They fit and framed my face perfectly. The guy did an amazing job with the lens :). He made them really thin, even though I have probably the worst eyesight possible. Usually it's still a thicker lens, even when I purchase the thinnest lens available. I was so impressed!!! Great job :) I was able to get a beautiful case for my glasses, that already came with a lens wipe and cloth bag for storage and two extra lens wipes that are very well made with their business names on it. I was recommended to this place about four years ago by a gentleman from the rodium Swapmeet. The first time I came here I thought to myself wow this place is kind of far from where I live but after dealing with Jane who is the owner it was well worth the drive. Jane is such a sweetheart. When i picked them up. The guy in the back made several adjustments to get the perfect fit on me. This small shop is really really good! I am really a pain in the rear when it comes to glasses: it's gotta be perfect and no "you will get used to it later". When I finally made an appointment and went in, I was so pleasantly surprised to see Jane! I had no idea she moved from her other place in Torrance! On my arrival at Venice Optical for my first time visit, I was immediately impressed with in-house selection of frames. Their prices were far less than every other optical retailer that I had checked our in my optical quest. Secondly, I was attended to right away with a friendly, professional service. I noticed that all the customers were handled as well, as well. (I meant to do that.) Of course, if you cannot find the frame that would meet your desires, you can order from the available catalogs. Finally, I received my glasses in less than one week. I used to have to wait ten business days at the optical I used to go to, yet never again. Best optical place I have been to! Took my VSP insurance. Was in and out in 40 minutes. The eye exam took 10 minutes no wait!! The staff was the most friendly I have ever experienced at an optics place. They were attentive and very nice made conversation the moment I stepped in. This place was such a score to find! I've always gotten my glasses at costco but when I decided I wanted to go for red ones this time I had to expand my search. After trying multiple chain stores with no luck at all I tried Venice Optical based on the yelp reviews. Not only were the staff extremely friendly and helpful but the selection was fantastic! They had more than 20 red pairs in all shapes and sizes that they helped me try, giving their feedback on them too (sometimes you need someone honest enough to tell you they just don't work for you.) I found exactly what I was hoping for, at a price I was thrilled by especially being designer frames, and they even took another 20% "just because." To top it off, I didn't have to wait a week for the lenses like at costco, they were ready within the hour! I will be returning, and highly recommend you try them as well. read more

Husband and I went in today and were immediately helped . We took our eye exam and the lady was so nice. She actually noticed my last eye doctor had given me the wrong prescription. In total my husband's and I took 30 minutes to take the exam and pick glasses. They have so many choices to pick from. I bought some cute eyeglasss and my husband bought some nice oakleys. I needed a pair of sunglasses made to my prescription, which I want to wear when driving and playing golf under from bright to low light conditions of sunset or cloudy days. ( Sunglasses at stores are usually very dark ) I also wanted to make it bifocal so that I can read score card. Jane recommended using G-15 colored lenses with 50% of darkness. Now I got the glasses and 100% satisfied. It has a light tint and does not change the color of objects ( good for golf and driving, can read smart phone clearly ) but very effective to make objects less bright. For the last few years, I ordered from Jane my progressive glasses and my daughter's prescription sunglasses, and I know from experience their quality of work is spot on and customer service is superb. read more

Jane knows her stuff. She took one look at the prescription that my insurance-assigned optometrist wrote for me and knew it would not work. The glasses my other optometrist made turned out the way she predicted. I cannot see my computer screen. The ones she said would work, and made for me, turned out perfectly. I've been here 3 times with family members. I've always been able to get an appointment either same day or next day. Venice optical is connected with 20/20 optometry. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to see the doctor. That I love. Good exam and then you go to pick a frame & lenses. There are tons to choose from. Once we were able to replace lenses in the same frames and it only took about an hour. Everyone is so nice and very helpful. There is no pressure to buy at that second. Great experiences! read more
