Best pizza in the Michiana area. The fougasse is amazing--beyond breadsticks, it is heavenly. Pizza is outstanding! Truly beyond superb. Wish you could choose your own toppings, but oh well. Imagine your in Naples enjoying the ambiance of the city and a store clerk recommends a pizza restaurant Venturi nearby. So you give it a try. Upon your arrival you are somewhat skeptical but comforted by a patron who is walking out with a stake of 10 pizzas in boxes - she says the pizza is the absolute best ever. It's a comfortable warm summer evening so you dine alfresco. You order a beer, a seasonal salad and a pizza with a name you can't pronounce- but your server Lea says it's her favorite. Lea promptly brings your Peroni beer with a chilled Peroni stein. When the salad arrives you are blown away by its beauty - all the colors of Italy- the magnificent locally grown deep red heirloom tomatoes, the fresh house made mozzarella and the very fresh arugula. It's lightly dressed with a basaltic dressing and pignolia nuts scattered about the topped with several slices of the best granna parmigiana cheese. A sensation for the eyes and palate! Then your are served a pizza like none you've had before. Under thin veils of prosciutto you see fresh artichoke hearts, olives fresh mozzarella and other flavorful delights! The wood fired crust is sublime. You devour every morsel and are feeling that this is a memory you will always treasure. But if the salad and pizza were this good- then the desserts must be equally as good. After perusing the dessert menu, you decide on an Italian favorite - panna cotta top with Armeni cherries. And when it arrives you re convinced you made the right choice - light and creamy with sweet delicious dark red cherries in a sauce. YUM! Very good, not mind-blowing. My family and I ordered the bruschetta of the day (asparagus, arugula, and I believe pancetta or some other italian cured meat), as well as 3 pizzas: Marinara DOC, Fig, and the Amatriciana. We got there at 5:50pm on a Saturday and waited ~20 minutes to be seated after being told a 25 minute wait. Cool. Service was expedient and kind, and the pizzas came out quickly. Overall experience A-. The bruschetta was probably the highlight of the meal for me, as I really enjoyed the EVOO-soaked, high quality bread that it was served with. I thought the pizzas, though taste-wise very good, were what I consider to be a bit light with the toppings. The Marinara DOC had only a small handful of basil leaves on it; basil is cheap guys - I thought the pizza would have been tastier if there was basil in every bite. The Fig pizza, delicious when you got a bite with a bit of everything in it, however not that amazing when you didn't. Could have used more prosciutto di parma, especially at that $20 price point. The Amatriciana, also quite delicious, but only when you got a bit of everything. The toppings, once again, were a little sparse for my taste. The menu specifies the pizzas are 10"-12" in size; and the amount of available crust is a bit overly generous... it's delicious, but the toppings probably only cover 8"-9" of the pizza. I didn't have my protractor & compass with me, but I'd imagine 2/3 of the pizza has toppings, and 1/3 is crust. I'd like to see the toppings extend further out, or be a little more densely packed in their current arrangement. Another idea would be to offer dipping sauces for the crust; something to put it to use, because there is so much of it. Perhaps my time in Chicago has spoiled me to expect high toppings-per-square-inch, and my suggestions more align with my personal taste than staying stylistically true to the pizza Venturi is offering. To take them would likely take a toll on profitability per pizza, and with the popularity of this place, will most likely not be heeded; however it's what I would require to make the 40 minute trip to return. Definitely worth the visit though. read more

We ate there for the first time a few days ago after someone recommended this place to us. We ordered two medium pizza and took them home. My wife absolutely didn't like the pizza because she said they were burnt. I thought the pizza was good but way overpriced (especially for pizza). Two medium pizzas (not very big) cost us about $55 with tip (and I only tipped 10% because it was takeout). We tried this place but won't be returning. If you like the "unique toppings" style then you'll love this place. It's truly authentic and nothing like your usual "Americanized" pizza place. The meats available are Pepperoni, Sopressata, Prosciutto di Parma, Pancetta, and 'Nduja (don't even ask about this one). Other toppings include a few regular veges and stuff like artichoke hearts, fig, and truffle oil. Having said all that they do have a ground Italian sausage available on request. We got the closest thing to regular pizza; onions, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. The crust had the required wood fired scorch marks and was amazing. The sauce was delicious and the toppings were fresh. It was a marvelous pizza! So, if you like unique toppings this is a must try! If you're looking for a standard handmade pizza shop then you should probably pass. read more

Are there words for how much we love Venturi? We've eaten pizza all over, from artsy San Francisco pizza to Chicago deep dish and New York thin crust but for my money the best pizza in America is in Goshen IN at Venturi. The white pizza with pesto has house made cheese that is unbelievably creamy. The fig pizza balances sweet and earthy balsamic reduction drizzle with peppery arugula and sweet figs. The Amatriciana is our favorite of the red pizzas with a nice balance of slickness offset by prosciutto and thin sliced shallots. Save room for a Nutella dessert pizza because it's so perfect it brings tears to my eyes to remember the marriage of pillowy pizza dough, silky sweet Nutella and mascarpone cheese. Perfection. The pizza was amazing and true to form I was inspired to travel after eating here. The salad was a nice change from the norm pears and blue cheese you can't go wrong with that.
