I was without a phone for a week, and I wanted to get out of my AT&T account. Verizon had a great deal going on. Dalia was excellent & she's from California, like me, and the same town! It was as if we were soul sisters, just laughing about back home. She made the long process very short. She was invaluable. Make sure to ask for her! Also, this was the best part. We've used this Verizon store a few times now, and every time we walk away more frustrated than before. The customer service is honestly terrible. When we asked why the service barely works across half of Austin, they told us it's because we're on the "basic" plan and need to upgrade to something more expensive. What does that even mean? You either have coverage or you don't, and according to their own map, the area we live in (just 10 minutes from this store) should have great reception. But we barely get any signal. The staff also don't seem to care. You get added to some kind of electronic waitlist, and then they just wander around while you sit there for 30 minutes waiting to be acknowledged. The second time we came in, we had zero service on our phone. They ended up replacing the SIM card just to get it working again. We're beyond disappointed with both the service and the network quality. They even told us there are "too many users in the area" and "not enough towers", which sounds more like an excuse to push people into overpriced plans. On top of that, when you buy a phone, they try to sneak in unnecessary protection plans without fully explaining what they are. Honestly, Verizon feels more like a scam than a phone company at this point. We're switching providers -- we're done. read more

FRAUD ALERT. Horrible experience. They messed up our bill miserably. spent hours following up to have them fix their mistake (which they still haven't). the worst part? The day after our appointment where they took all of our information, coincidentally a credit card was taken out in my name with over a $1000 spent on it the very next day. That's never happened before because I protect my info. A police report was filed and they will be investigated soon. this place DOES not protect your personal information in fact they may get STEAL it. Obviously not everyone there is a sh*t bird but there is an identity theif that works at that store. I went in today to see about my upgrade promotion and was greeted by the manager, Rachael who was VERY WONDERFUL & helpful. She signed me in and introduced me to George who helped me through my upgrade process. He was very nice and informative to ALL of my questions about the possibility of the upgrades offered to me and what they entailed trading in my old phone. Kudos to both of them for being wonderful, understanding, and helpful from the start to the finish of the transaction. I would def come back to this location for help from either and the other gals working all seemed very nice and pleasant too. ****My only concern is being able to contact this store to talk to an associate that you may of had an interaction with to ask question about promotions explained in store to ask specific details. I understand times are different an evolving on a daily basis but strange how this store automatically routes you to the 800# automated system which is ULTRA informal and automatically hung up on me 3 different times for not knowing my pin but i obviously knew my account #. When trying to call other stores outside of Austin for the info ... like DFW and LA area I was able to talk to an associate immediately every time and get questions answered. SO that was a bummer for the hour or two trying to get a rep on the 1800, till giving up and calling the next day. My husband and I made the switch from AT&T to Verizon. My husband had been on Verizon and recently switched to my AT&T back in May due to a job change. The entire time since being on my plan he constantly complained about AT&T's crappy cell service. Last week was the breaking point when AT&T went down in the Austin area for many people. My husband was trying to conduct business and his cell phone had no service. Luckily we have an old-school landline and he was able to use that. Due to the many issues with AT&T, we went to the Verizon store. We received wonderful customer service from Robert. We couldn't get the info that was needed to set up the account since our AT&T phone was useless. Robert was able to provide us with a hotspot from his phone so we could get wifi service to obtain the info. Robert added our veteran discount onto the phone bill and happily answered all questions. We also discussed the new iPhone that is coming out in a few weeks and he gave us a link and helpful tips for the day of preorder. read more

My husband and I are not knowledgeable at all when it comes to our phone and that is why we were a little hesitant to go in Verizon and ask to upgrade our old phone. Our old phone was acting up and not working well so we decided to go ahead and go in anyways, luckily it was not too busy. We waited and the wait was not long, about 10 minutes. When we did get help it was from Juliett and she was awesome. She did not make us feel as if we were asking dumb questions and explained the upgrade process to us in detail so that we knew what to expect and what to do once our new phone arrived. With her help and explanation, we were able to have a new phone shipped to us and we had no problem switching to our new phone at all. I can't say I've been impressed by any Verizon store in this area but I'll review this location because it's the closest to me and the one I most recently had to visit. First of all, Verizon can't seem to retain store staff, so you rarely see the same person twice and can't build any kind of customer relationship with someone who's familiar with your account and devices. The store seems more interested in pushing new plans and gadgets on folks than helping them with problems -- I've had my wife sent elsewhere on occasion because Verizon refused to troubleshoot the tablet they sold her. And older model devices seem to confuse and perplex all the staff. Why aren't employees trained better? I've also had this store screw up my bill when I tried to pay in person, I was told by a staffer, looking up my account details, that there was a "credit" on my account so I didn't owe what my printed bill said I owed (I ordinarily pay by mail). So I said, "Credit? What credit? OK, fine," wrote a check for the lesser amount -- then a week later I start getting notices from Verizon saying I still owed them money, that my current bill had not been paid in full. I had to scramble to set up a special payment online to avoid late fees. How hard can it be to tell a customer the correct amount he owes? I also resent what seems to be a lot of "bait and switch" tactics. I go to replace a wireless device -- which naturally isn't built to last, and you can't buy replacement batteries -- and I have to pay for a much more expensive model (because they keep "upgrading" them, altho' I find the new one no more reliable or capable than the old model) because what I was told would be ordered for me as a much cheaper alternative suddenly, a week later, turns out to NOT be available after all. I wasted a week waiting for a special order that was never going to show up. Plus you get hit with a "service fee" when you are forced to buy the new device to replace the one they sold you before that has died. And it costs $10 a month or more to buy a "warranty" for it if you want one. And they are usually trying to get you to sign up for a longer contract to get any price break on anything. Verizon seems to be no worse than anyone else when it comes to cell phone service/internet service, but it ain't cheap and it is always an aggravating and frustrating experience when you need them to assist you. read more

Horrible overall communication between stores and corporate - making for a disturbing in-store experience this evening. I went to turn in a phone and cancel an account (due to a recent death in the family) and was given two different accounts on the entire "turn in" process. Most notable was the direction I was given how the phone's data could be retrieved. I was given one set of instructions by the person I spoke with over the phone earlier in the day and told in no uncertain terms that this was not the case by the store manager I spoke to when I went into the store to turn the phone in. The saddest thing was that I wasn't spoken to in a rude manner, it was just a level of indifference and condescension towards someone grieving a recent loss that struck a chord. Unfortunately this just seems to be par for the course with Verizon store experiences in recent years. Sad to see such a monopolistic attitude out of a company that I've been a loyal customer to for over 15 years. read more

Make an appointment before going to this store or you'll wait for an hour+. I bought a new phone from this location and merged two lines onto the same account. Brooks Saia helped me initially. He was very helpful during the process and quoted me numbers for my new bill. Afterward, I had several issues with the phone. At first, he was helpful in coaching me through troubleshooting steps. Then I stopped hearing from him. I went into the store to get the phone replaced. At that time, Hugo Martinez helped me. Both Brooks and Hugo gave me their numbers for future reference. Now, my bill is NOT what they said it would be. I asked Hugo about it while in the store for the replacement and he said, "oh that's normal your first month, you'll be prorated the following month for the difference." The next month rolls around, bill is still higher than quoted and there was no proration amount. I've called Brooks and Hugo and left messages to both. Neither are responsive. read more

Stunning experience last night. I've never in a retail store situation run into this level of either deception or incompetence. As we checked out for a new upgraded iPhone SE for my elderly mother, I asked the employee (a young white man, but didn't get his name) if he was changing my mother's plan (I wanted to keep her two-year, contract plan). He said 'no,' and kept telling me the phone would only cost 'taxes.' So we went for a case as well because that sounded great, 'only taxes!' He rings me up, $99. I'm about to scan my CC but stop and say, what are all the charges for? He admits it's tied to switching her to a new, no contract, device installment plan. I ask him what it would cost if we stayed with no contract plan. He says the iPhone alone would cost $99, that there's no way the two-year contract plan would be better. He was speaking so quickly I tried to slow him down, I said I was told that exact phone was 99 cents at another Verizon store (where they also did this device installment pressure tactic). He said 'no $99.' We left. Went to the Apple Store at Barton Creek Mall. How much was the phone there? Free. No pressure tactics, no changing of plans, and the insanely kind workers quickly helped set up the phone. I'm happy. My mom's happy. And God help us, none of us, hopefully, will ever walk into a Verizon store again. read more

Until two days ago, I've never left a Verizon store smiling. Case in point: May 2011, Chicago. One of my best friends had just tragically passed, and the next day while working at the National Restaurant Association conference my phone died without warning and re-booted (have you ever seen that screen? It's scarier than watching Hostel on the eve of backpacking through Eastern Europe). I lost all of my texts and photos; many were sentimental. I had backed up my contacts so no problem there, but I was extremely frustrated that my phone had a major meltdown during a time in which I was experiencing a major meltdown. The sales associate I spoke with didn't have any insight on why my un-incredible Droid Incredible phone failed me the way it did and wasn't the least bit empathetic, either. Months later, I purchased a new iPhone 4s from a Best Buy store as they actually had it in stock and because honestly, I didn't feel like dealing with Verizon customer service. End rant. Fast forward to now. A Verizon trade-in certificate had been burning a hole in my wallet and that semi-new iPhone 4s still needed a case and screen protector. I took my $46 in Verizon trade and found the nearest store, expecting the worst but was greeted by the best: Rodney. Beaming with genuine friendliness, Rodney allowed me to pick his brain on the best cases and then expertly installed my screen protector and case in record time. He even made sure to hook me up with my corporate discount of 25% on all accessories and urged me to come in as soon as my screen protector dulls so he can install a new one (I have two left). While chatting, I learned that Rodney has been in the mobile biz for almost a decade and loves using the Yelp app, too. Rodney 4 eva! BUYERS BEWARE - A service representative here named Rogelio scammed the person I tried to sell my iPhone 5s to. I sold my unlocked iPhone 5s (with Applecare and in pristine condition) to a girl on Craigslist and she decided to take it here to get it activated. The service representative named Rogelio, inconspicuously signed into the phone using an unknown Hotmail account (thereby locking it under his e-mail account), and tried convincing her that she got scammed so she can buy a brand new phone from him. Fortunately the buyer texted me about this so I immediately turned around and drove back to the store to resolve the issue. Rogelio was surprised I showed up. He didn't think the Craigslist seller would care for the buyer and would help her out. He denied logging in the phone and acted really sketchy and continued to try and sell her a new phone. In the end, I ended up giving the girl a refund and walked out of the store with a brick phone! As we walked out, Rogelio gave an obvious "sigh" and said "so you don't want a new phone?" What a douche bag! Basically, now I have an iPhone 5S that is locked under a user named "g* * * * * * @hotmail.com". I bet the manager of the store is even pushing to have their representatives perform this scam to get more phone sales. Stay away from this place unless you want to get scammed! read more

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the screen cracked in 4 days. The phone was not working properly, due to lost connection and fast draining battery life. I went to the store to ask for them to remedy the situation, but they said they cannot do anything because the screen is cracked. The sales person would not do anything except to tell me that he offered insurance when I bought the phone. He only checked the network and reset some setting, which resolved the issue for temporarily. Salespeople are uninformed, because he didn't even know when the new Samsung Galaxy SIII was coming out (this was two months before the US launch). He was also very unhelpful in the fact that the phone has connection issues documented on the web, but did not mention anything about software upgrades or acknowledgement of the issues. I shopped there once before and I had very good service, but this experience tells me it's better to shop online than go to an actual retail store. I will never go to this location again (possibly even other Verizon retail stores in the area). read more

I am in town on vacation and fly out tomorrow morning. This morning my phone was completely dead after being on OE charger all night. Went to the Verizon store at Southpark Meadows and got the 2nd worst customer service I have ever received from a cell phone dealer. My phone is only 5 months old and I paid almost $700 cash for it. The woman I spoke to looked at my phone and then offered me 2 options. One was to 'upgrade' to a new phone and the other was to have a phone mailed to me. In the meantime, I am 1500 miles from home with a dead phone. No offer to contact tech support, no other options offered after I asked a second time. My husband called Verizon from SC and they said she should have contacted Tier 2 Tech support for me to have them walk me through some possible fixes. So, I drove out of my way through pouring rain to talk to someone who shouldn't be in customer service. Needless to say, I won't be a Verizon customer much longer. read more

I understand that they are probably receiving a high call rate about the new iPhones, so he may be sick of answering the same questions about the cost of upgrading, but he was just plain rude. I only asked him a couple specific questions, and was about to wrap up the call when he exasperatedly interrupted me with, "Why don't you just come into the store?!" We were upgrading a phone as well as adding a line and just to add a twist, turning a phone in for credit. The sales person who helped us was Christine and she was just awesome! She was very up beat and personable the entire time. Even the computers going incredibly slow didn't deter from her demeanor. She was very patient with questions and thorough in her explanations. While I have been a Verizon customer for over 14 years, I generally tend to stay out of the stores because of not being much for crowds or long waits.
