I came in to upgrade my phone and was offered a different upgrade deal that was supposedly better. After talking to the salesman for about 20 minutes I realized he was learning about the new offer as he was explaining it to me and he didn't understand everything about it himself. I then backed out and just decided to get the original deal that I came in for. He then tried to convince me that I wasn't making a good decision and that he was trying to help me, but I'm not taking a deal from someone who doesn't understand the deal himself and is repeatedly mixing up what the deal actually is as he explains it to me in real time. When I made it clear I didn't want to do the deal and wanted to do the original one I came in for, he then passed me to his associate and shook my hand saying that he was a District supervisor or something like that, which felt like he wanted to let me know that he's established and not a con-man or something so I'm really making a mistake, but I didn't care. The associate then also briefly tried to convince me to do the deal but I said no thank you because his higher up messed it up. I was in the store a total of 50 minutes with only 1 other person there before me, just to do a phone upgrade that I had already looked into before coming into the store. read more

Wow! We came to the Verizon store in Berkeley today to get new family phones: the service was incredible! Josh, the assistant manager/salesperson who helped us, was so effective, patient, polite - I don't think I've ever received better in-store service from anywhere. I'm not writing this lightly - Josh helped us for hours, including, when I finished a meeting and came back to pick up my FREE IPad (because we got 3 phones), setting everything up for me beyond office hours. I had a very disappointing experience with this store's customer service. When you arrive, it's difficult to find anyone available to assist because every representative says, "We're short-staffed, we'll be right with you." When I finally received help, the manager--a tall Caucasian man--responded to my question in a dismissive and condescending manner. Instead of offering any real assistance, he simply told me to call customer service. I understand staffing challenges happen, but that does not excuse poor attitude or unprofessional behavior. I had a question on my phone plan and decided to go in although I did not have an appointment here at the Emeryville store. I was immediately greeted and directed to someone who could help me. There were a few other customers in the store but it was adequately staffed so I had absolutely no wait time! I was helped right away which was very nice. He researched my problem and was able to give me all the information I needed and explained them in simple every day terms so that I walked out of the store understanding everything I needed to understand. I went here 2 pick up an order. 2 Gizmo watches that i was able to order because they had the inventory. I was given one incorrect model and noticed while i was walking to the car so i went right back. This was when they were about to close so i am sure that's what caused the issue and they didnt want to stay late. They refunded the incorrect model and stated that they had someone that had a pending order and apparently out of stock and that i would get a call the next day to pick up that watch. I waited all day the next day and nothing. I placed an order for home internet online and chose to pick up in store. When I did, I was carelessly only given half of what I ordered and needed to set up the internet. After over a week of calling and running around town to clean up their mistake, nothing has been resolved and I don't have service. There's I've asked to file a complaint and also nothing. It's worth noting that I only decided to switch because of a Black Friday deal and I am also yet to receive that. 0/5 stars for Verizon as a company. Customer service on point! Just got back from this store and I couldn't be more satisfied with my visit. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by the security guard on duty who was friendly and informed me of the store's layout as I was looking for the new Samsung phones. There were 2 associates on the floor helping a customer each so I decided to take a look at the display and decided which phone I wanted. After waiting for a few minutes (probably 2mins to be exact) a 3rd floor associate appeared and helped me out. Sam was the business. He was cordial, informative, and most importantly, had a very relaxed demeanor about him. I asked him if he had the phone I wanted in stock which he did. I asked him about any discounts that I possibly qualified for, which I did. He grabbed the phone I wanted from the back. Pulled up my info on his tablet. During the setup and purchase transaction about 6 more customers walked in. Sam was still relaxed. He got me set up and on my way out of the store. I was in there for a total of 22mins! Sam is a fantastic Verizon associate whom I am glad to have interacted with which made this phone purchase absolutely painless and pleasant. I highly recommend this store. These guys did a great job helping me get my new iPhone X. I found the staff to be knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. That's not always the case in these type of stores. When I was with AT&T and went into their stores I thought they were only nice about half the time. They did a good job of explaining the contract options and the discounted accessory packages available. I can recommend them without hesitation. I just wish it all didn't cost so much. This review is about Verizon's customer service on the 1-800 line. I recently terminated my account with them and switched to a new cell phone service provider. I phoned them to request the credit owed to me as I had paid the bill in advance. I could not get the final bill/invoice without paying a $5.00 fee. Consumer, beware!!! You cannot get an electronic version of the last invoice if you terminate business with them (even if this is the typical manner in which you receive your invoices). Additionally, there is a $5 fee to get a copy mailed to you. I was assured that the fee would be waived by the rep I spoke with over the phone. This DID NOT HAPPEN!!! I phoned Verizon again to let them know that the customer rep assured me that she would waive the fee. After more than 10 years of doing business with them, never once paying them late, the fee was not waived. This is the poor and unsatisfactory level of customer service that I received. Their prices are over-priced!!! The good news is that I have the same text, calling, and data capabilities for 2 lines for far less than half of what I paid when I used to have just one line with Verizon. My son's Blackberry (he's second) died. Thad, a sales associate, checked the phone, decided yes, it was dead, and ordered a replacement phone on the spot! I was told it would be shipped that day and I should receive it via FedEx within 24 hours!?! No charge. I've got only five stars for Verizon! I've gone to other Verizon stores, but will always go out of my way to go to this one. Their staff is certainly among the best --- very warm greeting, very helpful, very conversational. This time around, Melvin Woods helped us as we traded in an iphone4 for a 5. He managed to find discounts that were available that I didn't know about. Generally, I donate the old phones, but Melvin told me that the iphone4 had a trade in value. Happy to know! Although we had to wait a while to get the data transferred from one to the other, we were fully engaged in conversation with Melvin who couldn't be any nicer and helpful. 5 stars for Melvin! I'd give this store 5 stars...but I found it strange that there weren't any benches or chairs -- a la Apple Store --- for people to sit on while they're waiting. Standing for a long time could be very taxing. Melvin to the rescue when he found a chair for me. I came here for help with an Asurion (the insurance provider for your Verizon equipment) claim for my daughter's broken phone. I had tried to do a claim online, which they said could not be processed and I should call them, so I called them and the recording kept telling me to entire my claim online, so I gave up and came here. The sales clerk was friendly and helpful, and called Asurion from their landline phone, and mostly stuck around to help answer questions. Dealing with Asurion SUCKED - but the whole frustrating 45 minutes I was on the phone (not on hold) with Asurion and becoming increasingly irate in the middle of the store, the sales clerk remained friendly and helpful. There was a problem with making calls after upgrading. It was actually the Costco dealer's fault. I had switched to a cheaper plan, and the wrong date was entered, which caused my order/contract to be stuck under "pending" status. What contributed to the difficulty in finding a solution was that Costco and Verizon used different systems. Data works fine. Thank goodness. The customer service rep really tried her darndest to help, speaking to support over the phone and trying different things to get it to work. She was determined to resolve the problem before I left the store, a lot of empathy for the trouble I was experiencing. I really appreciate that. The problem wasn't resolved. This place won't answer their phone. Instead you get national people so I drove all the way over there, 40 miles. The manager named Delano wanted $40 to activate a SIM card which Verizon had promised to do for free on the phone. Janelle laughed at me when I said I was taking my business to another carrier after the way they treated me. Delano said if I gave them $40 they would give me a working SIM card for my new iPad. He knew I would have to wait ill Monday if I said no so he appears to have tacked on an additional $10 to the price that I was promised would be free. I said I was told by their representative on the phone that since they were a corporate store they would waive any fees since they had already breached my contract made just the day before with Jesse. The national people promised that since this was a corporate store that they would be able to make good on a promise by Jesse that they would not charge me for SIM card or activation and that they would not ship my SIM card by a fly by night delivery company. Well he was wrong despite his adamant insistence they would never send a SIM card that way. They sent it to me by Fed EX, not Fed EX Express. Fed Ex is Fed Ex Ground. Fed Ex ground does not deliver packages. They hire fly by night third party companies that wear Fed Ex uniforms and lie and say they work for Fed Ex. They do not. They don't even drive Fed Ex trucks. Instead my package is supposed to be delivered by "a third party". In my case that means a company called SAC Trucking which has no working phone listed oniine and only has two employees and only does $100K in business per year. They deliver in a Budget rental truck if you wait an extra week and threaten to sue or call police sine they have your property and lie about actually making delivery attempts. When I refused to pay $40 for an activation fee the manager said he would not do it. He acted like he had no idea who Jesse was despite having his name in my file. Justin at Verizon's Facebook page says Verizon will not stand by any verbal promises made by Verizon employees. I told him I responded immediately in writing to the order confirmation to despite it because it said I would be charged $30 for activation, not free. he did not respond to that. Verizon is a greedy, morally bankrupt company that give employees incentives to lie and price gouge the customers on the phone and at their corporate stores. read more

I've been a Verizon customer for quite a few years-- enough that my second two-year contract has been up for several months, and Verizon is offer cut-rates on a new phone for another 2 year contract. Sure, sounds great, my current phone doesn't do anything interesting, and is loosing the ability to keep a charge anyway. I've been mostly content with Verizon's coverage, so that seems like the obvious choice. So after a long, hard Sunday of unrelated and unsuccessful shower-curtain shopping, Drue and I stopped in the Verizon store, hoping to facilitate our incognito communications and co-ordinate our secret rendezvouses. After waiting for a few minutes for a customer representative and being offered a free cellphone modem for a laptop I don't own, I get to talk to someone who's interested in taking my money. Now my current account has two lines, and the one I use is the secondary line in a Family Plan. Mr. Customer Rep says that if I want to get a new phone for the first line, I could get a better deal. Well, spiffy-diffy, but I want a new phone for the line I'm actually using. Fine, so I tell Mr Customer Rep which phone I want, and he rattles off the price and tries to upsell me on accessories. No, I don't want accessories, I just want the phone, and what the hell-- the price you're offering is more than the online price for my upgrade. Oh, and by-the-by, Mr Customer Rep admited that Verizon has a new "policy" which says there's an extra $20 fee for renewing a secondary line. At this point, frustration showing, I asked him to price a new battery for my old phone. I don't need this treatment as a customer. Mr. Customer Rep sheepishly admitted that it's better for customers to get their phones and contracts online, and that a multitude of customers have got pissed at him because of the company's in-store policies. Why should I pay extra to Verizon in order to agree to give them my money for two years? I came into the store wanting to sign another two year contract. By the end of the night, I did a little more research online, and I'm very likely to buy a more expensive phone and contract with another company. As a customer, I want to try out a phone in hand, in person, before purchasing it. Otherwise, I'd just shop online. But by making the brick & mortar experience so terrible, Verizon is shooting themselves in the foot. read more

The basics: most staff folks are very nice, not knowledgable, and give out incorrect information. Theo is a definite exception - he seemed great. Dont want to take the time to type out a long story - but I would look up any information they give you before assuming it is correct. To get my new phone took 3 visits to the store, and to be honest, I'm not happy with it. I had called out a mental health day because yesterday was the 17 hour day from hell that ended with my phone (an iPhone 4- 4 years old and worth not a penny) getting stolen from the bathroom stall at my school. To be honest? I wasn't surprised. After going on line and trying to locate it with Find My iPhone and troving around asking every class in session if anyone had found it in the meantime, the ratchet thief turned it off, and thus I had to accept defeat. I contemplated buying a new phone beforehand, as I dropped my 4 in the tub recently and it was acting up, but was weary about spending $300 on a new phone when (*I thought) I could just spend $50 on a phone through the insurance... I mean, I pay for it, why not utilize it? Turns out, even with an old iPhone 4, Asurion charges you $199 regardless of the model and they would probably send me a newer phone but its a 50/50 chance it's refurbished- so I justified just buying a new one. I tried online but didn't want to wait for it in the mail, so I decided to take a half day and go to the store to get one. I was weary and skeptical 1. because I used to work for Nextel and phone sales and service is cut throat and 2. I just didn't want to be hassled with bullshit. I read some reviews and thought I'd hit the Berkeley store since it's closer to my job and I had to at least go sign in my students first and then take the rest of the day off. Who wants to park in Downtown Berkeley at ANY time to go to the Berkeley location (they effin SWEAR they're the city yo...)? Not this chick, so I just said eff it, I'll go to Emeryville and get my ghetto on. I walked in and was checked in immediately. I walked around for about 5 minutes, checking out my options (the 5c looked like a toy phone... not classy or sleek, peace of crap if you ask me) and they were playin the jamz (Have You Ever-Brandy; Diggin on You-TLC; Hate that I Love You- Rihanna and NeYo... you get the gist) so I started singing along, picking out an Otter case because I'm a klutz and I need something sturdy to protect the new investment I was making. I was approached by Nalisha, who grabbed me my device and explained everything. I mean EVERYTHING. Normally I'm a little shy to ask reps for all the details but forced myself to, seeing as I was purchasing a brand new, top of the line device and wanted to see if I could do payments. WORD TO THE WISE- my questions paid off. The Edge payment plan? DON'T DO IT. Basically, you are paying FULL PRICE for the device in order to get the perks of paying monthly for it, just to be able to trade in the device for a newer one every six months. If that's your thing? By all means, but you will basically be paying for the next phone, and the next and the next for the rest of your life with this deal if you are paying full price for the device. Luckily, she explained it word for word and I caught on right before she hit send, and ended up redoing it, giving me a good plan, and adding a partial payment of my phone and the rest on my bill, leaving me walking away with a brand new phone with my current bill paid and enough time for me to earn the funds to pay off the rest of it. While I was in the store, a guy came in and Nalisha asked him how his grandfather was, and the guest said he would never go to another store, that this store is the best because of the comradery you feel with the people that work there. I would have to agree with him. All the people that complained about the people at this location are probably either 1. Hatin the playa's and not the game, 2. Don't comprehend ghetto fab talk or 3. took a rep having a busy day personally or they expected to be treated like royalty. This is a down to earth store. You treat them with respect, they will take care of you, and even talk trash with you. Nalisha even showed me my bill online and the plan she gave me, and broke down how much I would be responsible for once my March bill came so I wouldn't be shocked. Go here, and ignore the naysayers. Go in and expect nothing, because in any situation where you are dealing with customer service, there are ups and downs- just rest assured that if you expect nothing, you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

I have had the best customer service at this particular location on a number of separate visits. While sometimes it may take a while to get through the queue... that's to be expected. People have loads of questions for these folks, so each interaction seems to take a while. But, when it's finally your turn, you get to ask loads of your own questions! Today Mike and I went in with two separate problems. His phone just straight up died, after about 1 year of trusty service. My phone, which I purchased a little over a month ago just was sorta "ehhh" and I was hoping to upgrade it or trade it. Problem was my 30 days was past by 7 days. ooops! Well, our customer service gal, Nalisha, was a saint. She hooked us both up with new phones, was super sweet the whole time and we walked out happy and without spending an extra dime. YAY VERIZON. Now... I've been with At&t, sprint, T-Mobile & Metro PCS in the past. And I've had huge problems with all of them. (THANK YOU SPRINT for FUCKING UP MY CREDIT, you heartless bastards) But I've been with Verizon for over 3 years now and am as happy as one can be with a mobile provider. I've been a Verizon customer for probably about 8-9 years now. All the customer service experiences I can remember are mostly good, and the first two times I went to this particular Verizon store, I was helped out by two great guys. Today, I went to return something; there's a 30-day return policy, and what with being so busy with work this month, I only finally had time to get over there today, the 30th day. I was unlucky enough to get there a few minutes after closing (6pm on Sunday), so the doors were already locked, but there were a lot of reps inside, and several customers still being served, so I was hoping they would take 2 minutes to just process my return since my time is up. A girl by the name of Tiffany finally came to the door and said that they were closed and to come back tomorrow. I explained to her that my 30 days for return were up and if I could just return my item. She said that she can't open the doors and that the computer system is already shut down; I may be requesting something outside of their call of duty, but DON'T INSULT ME, there are customers who are inside and have to exit eventually, and obviously the reps are using the computers to serve them. She said that they would honor the return if it's only one day after the 30 days; I asked her if she could write that down or something to guarantee it, and she said she can't guarantee it, so then I asked her for her name so that when I come back tomorrow, I could tell whoever is helping me that she said that they would honor the return. During this whole encounter, she was ridiculously rude and unprofessional; her tone, facial expression, and body language were ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE for someone who works in customer service. I was extremely upset with her severe lack of customer service skills; there was no excuse for the condescending manner with which she spoke with me. Another representative had come to the door during the conversation to listen in, and when she finally walked away, I said to him how rude she was, and he nodded. Even her own coworker thinks so. This was the absolute worst customer service I have ever received from Verizon in my whole 8-9 years of patronization. When I go back tomorrow, I better be able to return my item; regardless of whether or not I can, I will be asking to speak with a manager or supervisor about Tiffany's attitude. Barring the fact that I got there after store hours on the last possible day I could return something, there is a courteous, professional way to turn someone down; I could have walked away from the store today feeling just fine if she had politely and apologetically declined my request. She obviously is incapable of any sort of empathy with customers, something you need to be a good customer service rep. If you need to go to this Verizon store for anything, make sure you don't get her. The only reason this store doesn't get 1-star is because the first two guys who helped me the previous times I went in were very helpful and courteous to me. read more

It was crowded but the Service manager Dickey gave us a great family plan for me, my wife and her son. We ordered 3 Samsung 6 S phones and we were pleased with the plan offered.
