I don't think I can emphasize this enough, DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE. They will charm your pants off, don't get me wrong. They will make you believe you are a valued customer. However, what they will not do is be honest with you and if you're occasionally gullible like me, they will take advantage of you. I came to this store to get a new phone, my iPhone was a piece of well, you know what, and I decided to venture to the Droid side (ever so thankful I did) so I popped on down Union Square and found myself at this Verizon Store...all this back in November 2014. I write this almost a year to the day because I discovered what I thought was an error on my Verizon bill. First, let's back up to November 2014. I came to the store and was in the process of purchasing a new Samsung S5 and while they were getting the phone in the back they came out and asked me if I was interested in a tablet. I said, no I'll just take the phone. I was told that actually it's a free gift to me. Why? I have been a loyal customer for over seven years and they just wanted to thank me. I asked about charges and all, because while I appreciate a nice thanks, I also realize there's no such thing as a free lunch. I was told that there would be a monthly charge for the data, $10 a month, but they'll discount it to $5 a month as a thank you. I checked several times during the process to see if this was going to be the actual charges and I was told yes, repeatedly. So I left, feeling like an appreciated customer, like I mattered to them as a person and not just a sales figure. I came home, eager to try out my Samsung tablet...having not had one before I found it to be novel, useful for traveling or reading the news but not a necessity. It was okay because I figured it was free and I had nothing to lose...after all, I had no intention of buying a tablet. Now, here we are in November 2015. I've spent the year enjoying my tablet and still have the same feelings about it as I mentioned earlier. I am struggling with my finances and reviewing my bill to see where I can save money. It's a 3-line family plan, my brother and I split it and pay for our mom's phone. I'm reviewing the bill online and see that there is a $25.87 charge on the tablet line and I didn't know what it was for, I just thought that this was the bill being divided by the phone lines and since the table is cellular, it has it's own line. I didn't think anymore about it. I thought the bill went up because I increased the data allotment. So this is the part that I'm embarrassed about, feel gullible about. I look further in and find that this $25.87 is basically the monthly payment for the tablet that was supposed to be for free. I have basically spent over $300 this year on this tablet and I still have more to pay off. I chatted with Verizon's customer service and they are sorry for the miscommunication. Uh, this is more than miscommunication, this is deception. For my inconvenience, they are going to give me $10 off my bill for my phone and then my brother's contract is up this month so they'll give him $15 off his bill so I'm saving $25 a month and that will make me flush with the tablet...this is what customer service said. However, if you read closely, my brother is getting money off HIS bill, I'm getting $10 off MY bill but I would actually be paying less if I didn't have the tablet to begin with and my brother would STILL get the discount because it's what's given to people who are no longer in contract. This doesn't include the amount I've ALREADY paid this past year. So I'm not really getting a deal, they're not really trying to "help" me because they feel bad about "miscommunication" what they're trying to do is make is seem like they are because they know what they did was wrong. Now I know Verizon customer service can't see what's going on at the store level, however I would hope Verizon corporate headquarters would. The employee who made the sale to me lied to me about the tablet, lied to me about the charges...complete deception. If they do this to me...I'm sure they're doing it to others and if you shop here, they'll do it to you too. I recommend you stay away from this store and approach other Verizon Stores with caution. This store may have cost Verizon an 8+ year customer. read more

Customer service leaves much to be desired. I had a feeling that the store is operated by kids who have very little idea of what's going on: it looks like there are employees on the floor, but none is willing to assist you. We had to wait around 15 minutes to be helped. Melissa took care of us and by the end we were very disappointed with her service. Honestly, the whole idea of writing down the plans and prices on a sticky note and later on a piece of paper is quite ridiculous. The writing is upside down to me, so how am I supposed to get it? Also, it looked like she had a problem with calculating all the prices, we saw her struggle and we asked for a printed chart or a link so we can look it up online. She said: that's ok, I can write it down. Well, the client prefers the printed version, I guess it says a lot. Then she tried to sell us all those Bluetooth - screen protector - extra charger package, which we politely refused to get. We said no 2 times, and she kept on trying to sell it to us. Finally, when she brought the phone out, she swiped he card, gave us a box and disappeared. Wasn't she supposed to help us to turn it on, or at least ask if we need assistance? We had to figure everything out ourselves and asked other Verison representatives for assistance. But when you spend that much money on a new phone, you want a full service, right? read more

Well they lied. Jeff, said they had the phone in stock before I stood in line to get sold.They didn't have them so they would order them. They Assured the phones would be here on a Tuesday. Well I got no tracking number, no verification that they had shipped. Had the service on my old provider set to cancel at midnight, now i have to unwind that. Danny (manager), said no worries, they'll be there. Well 3 phone calls later I found out that they won't be here. Jeff and Danny, this is total amateur hour. Get it together guys this isn't 2003 and you don't have to hustle your way through the sale. Just deliver on what you are selling and don't make me have to clean up your sloppiness. So, my wireless service has been balky/spotty for months, and the theory now is that my device is bad. I visited this store to discuss their modems/hotspots, and instead got pitched for two giant packages I didn't need. First the salesman wanted me to bring my family's three devices from another carrier and quoted exactly the same price it already costs. No thank you. Then, I got a spiel about Comcast (which we cannot stand and will never use) and bundling it with our home phone service. Hi, I came in here for a data device, which is not working and your network slowdowns are annoying me. So, since the last (good) review was all about the people, this bad one has to join in. Listen to your customer and discuss what he/she wants first, then make your pitch to get the big commission that will allow you to retire and move to Jamaica. HORRIBLE service at my new house, which is why I even went with Verizon (said it had full coverage here)! In fact no service what-so-ever! I was talked into a piece of crap cheap phone, that I used for like 3 days, and put back in the box, where it has lived since. I am disabled, live on a limited fixed income.......... they will not refund me for the month of FEB where I had ZERO service and had to drive 13 miles to even make a call, then because I am disabled and live in a very small town, had to get another phone and different service......... so that I could have phone at the house. They finally canceled my contract but are trying to bill me for a phone that was supposedly FREE (that I got talked into), yet will not refund me for the month I had no service at my house, had to get a burner phone so I could have service. Was having trouble with my phone not powering on and also missing pics on it. Other Verizon reps in the past (at the Van Ness location) had tried to just upgrade my phone for "only another $20/mo." (as if I don't pay Verizon an arm and a leg already!), and didn't help me at all w/ the pics. Vivian was awesome today. Not only did she help me find my pics in the Verizon cloud which I thought had been permanently lost, but she ordered me a replacement phone based on my insurance instead of trying to sell me a new phone...AND, she was able to save me $15 per month on my bill! I wanted to give big props to an employee at this store, David, for the help he gave us Friday. I have a friend who is homeless, a former student of mine who is now 25 and in a bad way. We were shopping downtown to get him ready for a job interview. At the Old Navy we were at previously, people gave him odd looks. Understandable, because his clothes were disheveled, he smelled, and his hair was askance. But still, it sucked. It was tough for him to be stared at while shopping to change himself. But at this Verizon store, David helped us out with a smile, made easygoing conversation, and treated my former student with respect and kindness. He didn't go overboard. Just totally chill. I am reviewing this company not the store itself. Verizon's right hand doesn't know what's it's left hand is doing. When it comes to billing and contract, they are a mess. I never had a problem with their phones, but as soon as I did an upgrade all hell broke loose. I must have call them 8 times in the last 2 months trying to fix my bill - only to have different people telling me I owe money--duh!!! Everytime I have to retell my story and everytime I was rest assured that everything is fixed. Then my next bill came, and the last straw was the account suspensions. So, I give up. read more

I have been a customer of Verizon Wireless since high school and I've never used another service other than for when I had a blackberry or another PDA device through work (namely AT&T) and pay-as-you-goes set up for my dad through T-Mobile. Of course, the quality of calls and straightforwardness of service availability is pretty much best provided by Verizon, but good business kind of stops there. The last three years of my relationship with Verizon has been plagued with lies, fraud, horrible customer service, and everything short of me going Britney-with-umbrella on employees there and I think I have been sorely duped into spending thousands of dollars on bad equipment and many hours trying to talk through the issues with incompetent, unsympathetic and otherwise unconcerned individuals that represent the company. In the last three years I have been crammed/slammed three times and each time no one takes any responsibility and especially at this branch I have literally accomplished NOTHING that I've ever set out to do. No one can ever fix any problem my phone's having or give me the same, consistent explanation TWICE about ANYTHING. Let me really get into the reason why I feel compelled to write this review. In the past, in the last 9 years, I have lived A LOT of life. I have switched banks, switched health insurance, jobs, schools, boyfriends, careers, and made a major move across the country (at least the mountains). In a decade the only thing that's remained constant in my life is my VERIZON cellular service. Unfortunately they don't give a shit. Some incidents I'd like to share with you today: 1) in 2008 I had the LG 9400 (i think) which was the IRONMAN phone. It flipped out into a T. This was before the wave of smartphones hit the market. It was a nifty, compact phone with great mp3 and internet functions. I bought about $600 worth of MP3s through Verizon, along with about $80 worth of games. Let me tell you that was the dumbest fucking thing I've ever done in my life. The only reason I did that was because even though that phone comes with computer-phone accessories for your music, you can't do much with it since the music you download on your phone, even if stored on your memory card, is ONLY GOOD TO BE PLAYED ON THAT SPECIFIC PHONE from which it was purchased. I was never explained this until I had to replace my phone due to an unfortunate drowning incident which almost cost my life. Of course, Verizon didn't give a fuck that I almost died. So I ended up having to buy a new phone. Luckily phones were much less expensive in these days, and they let me "early renew" my contract for a cost of $20. At that time I was, against my better judgement and insisting to the sales rep that I believed the LG Chocolates were crappy phones (and that, they are, for sure), the sales rep straight up conned me into buying a Chocolate 2, saying that it's a "totally different, new, better" phone. Please. 2) in 2009 after six months of having the LG Chocolate 2 the phone unexpectedly quit on me. It'd freeze, then it'd black out, then the charger port thing went loose, and eventually the phone stopped charging. To boot, when a new battery was placed into the phone, it still wouldn't work. Basically the phone I was sold had a 6 month life span. I went to Verizon, and after haggling with one associate who wouldn't throw me a bone, I gave up. I came back a few days later since at this time I worked across the street, and this time a manager who seemed shaken up from another angry customer didn't have it in her to fight with me too so she let me take a refurbished phone home at no cost. Of course, it took over 30 minutes (activating a refurb should take maybe 10 minutes total), and I was still pissed that I lost all my games and some music which Verizon refused to refund me for even though I had to replace my phone because of equipment failure that had nothing to do with my fault. This model's been reported to have the same issues as I was having and of course the company would take zero responsibility. A corporation the size of Verizon only get rich by screwing people over. 3) 5 Months after the refurb was issued to me the phone quit again. Same exact issues. Did I not see it coming? I should have switched to AT&T for the iPhone when I was offered it a few months back. By this time (March 2009) I am not only regretting my decision to sign any contracts with Verizon but extremely upset that the same thing keeps happening. I go back in. This time they try to charge me. I calmly explain to the the history of my phone purchases over the last year. The rep, new on the job, gets the manager. Overwhelmed by Friday night traffic, he gives in but has to tell me about how he's doing this out of the kindness of his heart. Verizon are absolute liars about their iPhone 5! They claim that their phone is unlocked & will fully function on other networks but it DOES NOT!!! You can verify this information at the Apple Store. One big difference is that you will not be able to get AT&T's LTE speed with a Verizon phone. Buyer beware!!!! Their customer service is awful, their phones don't have great reception when you travel & their international data is super expensive which is one of reasons why AT&T is a better network for travelers. With a new iphone loaded with extras, I was happy with the great service. I got a new speaker, head phones, cases, car charger, workout strap, and my first bill is lower. If I didn't know better, I'd think that Verizon just pulls random people off the street to work there without training them. Picture it: Fall of 2000. I'm living in NJ at this point. I don't want a cell phone, as it annoys me the way people go everywhere yammering on them. I come home one day, there is a cell phone on my dresser, in it's charger. My brother had gotten one and in those days, they gave you two other phones for family members. Our contract was with Verizon. (my brother was smart. In the month after I got the phone, I got two flat tires and used it to call AAA). Okay, fast forward to 2015. We (my brother (RIP), mother, myself and grandmother) have had a family plan with Verizon for the LAST 15 YEARS. One might think that years of loyalty (and thousands of dollars spent on phones, tablets, etc.) might make a difference to the level of customer service. One would be wrong. The customer service at the Verizon store on Market Street, as well as the one on Sanchez St. is about as useful at tits on a bull. I don't even know where to begin. Let's start with last night. Earlier in the day my phone fell out my pocket and I stepped on it. No, I don't know how I managed that. The screen was cracked not surprisingly. I thought it might be okay, but as the day progressed, the cracks grew worse and worse as I used it. Also, shards of glass in my fingers. I realized it needed to be fixed, or I needed a new phone. So I go to the Market Street store and explain the situation. I tell the fellow I probably need another phone. He looks and me and says they can't help me today, they have too many other people getting their phones set up. This bothers me. I ask him if he knows any place where I could get the screen fixed. (A while back I had the same problem with my previous phone. I went to the Sanchez St. Verizon store and they gave me the numbers of phone repair places. One problem--THOSE PLACES ONLY REPAIR IPHONES!!! Seriously, I go into the Verizon store, show the guy my ANDROID phone with a cracked screen and he give me the names and number of phone repair places. I call/go to the places to find they only fix iphones. Like I said, tits on a bull.) Anyway, I explain this previous experience to the fellow in the Market St. store and he says, I swear to God: "Did you try Google?" I just stared at him for a minute. No, I'm an idiot and that never occurred to me--of course I tried Google to find a place to get my phone fixed. (frown) I was just *done* at this point, so I told the guy to have a good evening and left. I remembered a place I had seen that offered repairs, and it was right nearby. I thought they might only repair iphones, but I figured I'd take a chance. I went to WIRELESS GADGETS, on Geary St. between Grant and Kearny. Would you believe that they fix phones that are not iphones? Yes, they do. And they fixed my phone in about an hour. For $45. Suck that, Verizon. read more

Choose a different Verizon store! I had my first and only experience of truly dishonest customer service with verizon here. I received misinformation about 2 products, bought both of them, and regretted both (one was deception about how a plan worked, one was deception about the phone specs (telling me I needed an accessory when I did not)). In reality, you should go to a Verizon 'direct' store, or just buy your new phone on line. That way you avoid dealing with a franchise because there is no way for Verizon to do anything about it if the franchise screws you over. I did attempt to try and get this franchise to fix the issue, they declined to do so. So here I am, warning others not to fall for it! read more

I wish i could give no stars. But I am making a yelp account ONLY so that I can warn people about Verizon, because we have had the worst experience as costumers in our lives with this company. Since we first got involved with Verizon last year, it has been nothing but headache, and it has COST US A LOT OF MONEY!!! First it took them nearly two weeks to even come and set up the internet, I had to call and angrily demand that they do it before it finally was done. They told us on the phone that it would be $50 a month, no hidden fees. The first bill was on $160. Due to starter up services and fees, they told us. We were displeased, but accepted. The second bill was $80. We complained, but got nowhere. The third one was $80. Again we complained. They told us not to pay the last bill, as they would try to make us a valued customer, so the latest bill would be adjusted. We waited. Nothing. Until they turned off our internet and demanded for us to pay extra money to open it again. We were baffled. This is our general experience with Verizon: we have never had a bill that has not surprised us, and that we have not complained about. They overcharge, but talk around your head regarding what they charge for, so you never win. Then the last bill came: $200. TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS!! AGAIN, we call in to inquire and complain, but we get nowhere and end up quitting our contract with Verizon. They tell us that we have to return the router in order to receive our deposit back, and that a final bill of $40 would come too. I got upset by the last part, but the customer service person reassured me that it would NOT exceed $40, so we just agreed that it was fine, whatever, we had given up. Never have we received any sort of help or understanding from the company, only misleading information and attitude, so we just wanted to be done. Today I called them to find out where my deposit was. They said there is no deposit, and I have to pay them $89. I actually broke down and started crying. We feel completely scammed, and like we have nothing to say or do against them and they do exactly what they want. Eventually I was transferred to a manager, who said that I would receive my deposit, but they would keep the $89. We dont know what this money is supposed to be for, as we have payed our final bill. When I got frustrated and upset and said tat this was unacceptable, what kind of company is this?! The manager hung up the phone.. Yeah. He hung up the phone. One month ago we changed to Warner Cable. The bill is always $32, we have never had any surprises. The internet works fine and we are finally very happy. We did some calculations, and it proves that if we had had Warner Cable the whole time, the excess money we payed for Verizon, would have covered us until 2018. Just saying.. - Overpriced (SO overpriced) - Heaps of hidden fees - Forever to even install the internet - Useless customer service - Misleading information - No respect for us as customers, to the point where the manager hangs up the phone. We are mildly said completely baffled here. Never in my life have I had such a bad experience with a company. Outrageous. We have spent HOURS and HOURS on the phone trying to complain about the bills and come to some sort of agreement, or at least get the right and proper information about how next months bill is going to be. Not ONCE have we won, and now they took it to the next step and hung up the phone. read more

My rating is just based on my one experience here. I give them a positive rating based on how promptly they helped me. My iPhone 6 had received a notice saying "invalid SIM" so I was not able to send/receive calls or texts. I had done everything fix it on my own, but still wasn't working. I brought in my phone sometime before lunch and the associate (I didn't get her name) was very polite and proceeded to replace my SIM card and just like that my phone was functioning regularly again. He explained my options and did not hesitate when I asked him to set up my account and get everything ready for a pick-up in 15 minutes. I was "this" close ... Not really ... He was gone like shot. In any case, chastened, I walked right to the Verizon store on Market Street for help and help I got with the lovely and patient Le. I was put in her capable hands by her manager, Jenny Chu. Good call, Jenny! Le did a great job explaining all my options being so far from an upgrade ... Do not waste your time here it with Verizon in general. This review is for the store as well as Verizon customer service (or should I say lack thereof). My experience was similar to others with poor reviews who were long time Verizon customers. They did their little phony charm act on me and made me think I was getting the deal of the century with all the "free" crap they were giving me. All the while calling me "hon" and chastising me for not having backed up my whole phone. Well they couldn't close the deal. My husband had switched over to the new Google phone service, and somehow this locked up our account that made everyone I spoke with to be completely powerless. I tried to get this sorted out with VZ customer service over the phone, but all they could do was be sarcastic (one woman actually said "ok I'll call the FCC for you" when I asked her to fix the ridiculous hold that had a death grip on our account). So then I follow up with girlfriend in the Verizon store a few days later to see if things have changed. She says yes, I can now process your order. I went downtown with hopes high. My little friend is very excited to suck my money out of my wallet. And then. . .wonder of wonders the issue of last week persists. She then makes the offer to have everything shipped to me once the Vulcan death grip is released from my account. I almost took her up on it then came to my senses that I should not be paying $180 on top of a pricey monthly bill. And I was never given a reason as to why I couldn't trade my phone in for cash or credit to my account. I asked her to waive the nonsensical fee or I walk. Without hesitation she tells me she has nothing else to offer me. I informed her she just lost a 10 year customer. Congratulations. A long time customer of Verizon's I will never give any of my business to this store. I was misled to believe I had to purchase a wireless earphone in a faraway store. With my new iPhone in back order I couldn't find out until a month later. Verizon customer service told me I can return it in a Verizon store but the chance is up to the store manager. I explained the situation to Tim the store manager of this this location . I even got a version rep on the phone with him, but all Tim wants is for me to buy something of higher value and I declined it . I will continue doing my dispute and totally disgusted by the greed of Verizon 's sales representative. read more

Wasn't bad service. Bad thing is I felt it was TOOO much service. Honestly, I went in for a charger and had 3 people help me, one asked about an appointment. I just found it odd. It wasn't bad, but when they wanted account information from me and how I could improve my experience just to pick up a small thing I felt odd. I guess I should rate them up for this, but I felt silly so while it was a good experience in I got what I needed and felt not a bad price, I just couldn't give them an awesome rating. read more
