My old cell broke and was frozen. I went to Malden and purchased a new phone. I was at that store from 2:30-5:30 and Malden was not able to get new phone activated. Malden swore the order would get 'pushed thru' by 7 AM. It did NOT. Malden is not a full fledge verizon store. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID The guy who 'helped' me was freakin clueless and wasted my entire afternoon, evening, and then next morning when I had to chase down help at another store. I had painters, contractors, cleaners, stagers working on a listing for me and I could not communicate. I had no one's number to even try and call from my office land line. I also had my sister flying in the following afternoon. When my cell was NOT activated and I'd wasted a valuable 24 hours (when I would have been cleaning and grocery shopping for her visit), I went directly to Saugus Verizon. Even tho these folks had not even sold me the phone, they were willing to help me. After a couple of phone calls, they got my new cell activated. They sold me about another $300 in accessories which I felt I had to suck up since they saved my ass after Malden totally screwed me. What losers at that store. If you value not being tortured, for zero progress, I advise never going to Malden, and going directly to a true Verizon store, in Saugus. If your phone is damaged and your content cannot be transferred, go to Pro Repair in Medford Square and ask for Alex. He's the literal tech genie in a bottle! He transferred 20 years of contacts and content from my locked phone to my new cell. Apps, passwords, contacts, everything! Verizon just doesn't care if you lose your whole life stored on your phone, which is poor support for their customers. This is vital content you need to recover!!!! This was not the best experience getting phone upgrades with trade ins, buying phone accessories over $400 and trying to keep on budget. One employee gave more sales pitches than was required but seemed like a good tech and another employee said about the second phone, there "wasn't enough time to get it completed" and to bring it home to do it. Then we got hounded about returning the trade in phone they sent us home with. There was another employee who made an appearance of someone "in charge" but was not helpful at all. I didn't have a billing or plan issue before going here, but had to contact Verizon by phone because of billing and plan issues. I won't be going to this store again. read more

This review is just for this store location, and not the Verizon Wireless phone service. Went in to see about getting my sister a new phone, was a Saturday afternoon. The store was 'busy", but there seemed to be a disproportionate number of Verizon employees just standing there in the middle of the store. I asked one why my sister was waiting for a "salesperson" when there were 5 employees standing there. I was informed they were "not in sales" and were waiting for other customers with tech issues to arrive. Really? 5 employees standing doing nothing and a line of sales customers? Unacceptable! I asked to speak with the manager, who agreed with me....condesendingly, and then said he would "correct the problem". It didn't solve the sales line. Pathetic. Ok I recently switched my service provider from Directv/AT&T to Verizon basically due to the continued terrible customer service and the years of inept Service. I had direct tv for over 20 yrs and at&t for mobile service for at least 15 well I put up with it because I had the NFL package and liked to watch whatever game I wanted so I was a prisoner of my own doing. Well they came out with the red zone and other providers also started carrying it also still I stayed I still wanted the option of watching game I wanted but I noticed last couple of years I found myself watching red zone more often. Last straw was bought new phones wouldn't let me pay in full I was like ok. Paid most off then went to Verizon we switched TV service to FIOS it's huge savings I have the sports and movie packages I want and I can add or subtract at any time plus I don't lose the signal every time it's heavy winds or rain like the fish. Now for the phone we have our house ( it was actually cheaper to keep the landline) 2 mobile phones and our internet through Verizon. Now we paid off balance of phones to AT&T they unlocked now we have 2 phones unlimited talk text and data and when they say unlimited it means unlimited we had unlimited with AT&T and I'd get a text saying you've used 80% of ur data. Oh they also have a special by 1 iPhone 8 Plus get another free but since we had just got them they gave us 2 $150 gift cards. Also there's absolutely no contract whatsoever. We weren't hovered over when we went in we had already done the TV switch but had to go here for phones. I just wish u could go or call 1 place for all but just so glad to be done with AT&T. I knew what I wanted, what plan I wanted, and we were moving over from T-Mobile. needless to say, when I was told that nobody could help me, and the wait was at least 30 minutes, and got lots of attitude in the process, I simply walked around the corner to Sprint, got the deal done in less than 20 minutes, and was thrilled with the CS at the Sprint store. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Let me start by saying the salesman Mike was great. It was the manager Kathleen who was completely rude and unprofessional. It started when my niece went to look at a phone and attempted to pick it up like she had with other phones and the alarm went off. Kathleen came over and huffed and puffed about having to shut the alarm off. A little while later after looking at other phones my nephew touched the same phone and the alarm went off. Now mind you he had only touched the phone to get it to wake up so he could decide if he liked it. Kathleen was at the desk across the room and said loudly and with a major attitude that she had JUST told her not to touch the phone. First off - it was my nephew not my niece - he had no idea what had happened with his sister Secondly - how do you have phones on display that you can't touch? She sent someone else over to shut the alarm off and he was very nice. He explained this alarm was very sensitive and it had been going off all day. We were at the store to upgrade 3 lines, switch 2 lines to my plan and add a new line. We were purchasing outright 6 new smartphones - we were dropping some serious cash - around 5k. Again, Mike was great. He was patient and helped pick phones. When it came time to complete the sale we were told there would be an upgrade fee (WHAT?! $30 per phone to upgrade?! ). I had talked to someone at Verizon on the phone the previous day that told me they'd waive the fees because this was a large purchase and it wouldn't be a problem. Well with Kathleen EVERYTHING is a problem. When I told Mike that we were not going to pay the upgrade fee - he said he would go talk to Kathleen. He disappeared for a good 5 minutes and then came out and said she'd take 80 off and that's all she would do. Kathleen wouldn't even come out to talk with us. We insisted that she come out to talk to us. Mike went back to get her and she finally came out and said what's the problem. I explained that we were dropping a lot of money and told her what Charlie the phone rep I spoke to the other day said about waiving the upgrade fee. Kathleen's response? Then why are you here in the store? Why didn't you just do this all over the phone. Huh?! Seriously?! I said we wanted to see the phones to make a proper decision and if it's s problem then we will just walk out the door now and forget it all, forget the 5k purchase, Mike loses out on the commission and your store will lose out on the sales. And I would write a bad Yelp review (here I am!) I said I've been a loyal Verizon customer for over 20 years. She rolled her eyes and said fine - I'll credit your account for the fees. We thanked her for that. She then tried to upsell accessories - screen protectors,etc. I said no thank you I'll order them off Amazon for 1/10th what they charge in here. She said our screen protectors are guaranteed for life. I said I've bought them before and they have not been worth the money and I don't have time to come back to replace it. Her response - oh you don't have time to go to the North Shore Mall to the kiosk where it literally will take 5 minutes to replace it, but ok you can have your $1000 broken phone. I said actually we bought insurance so we wouldn't have a broken phone. She walked away and immediately went to another associate and started talking about us before she huffed her way to hide out in the back room. It was completely unprofessional and uncalled for. During this visit we had also witnessed her getting in to an argument with another customer. Mike explained she was having an off day, she was the only manager there and was usually very nice. I know everyone has bad days - but you put on your big girl panties and you do the job you signed up for - customer service. To note - this was not the first time I have had issues with rudeness at this store. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I've had verizon for over 10 years and this (on two occassions) was by far the worst experience I've had with them. I went in a few weeks ago for a new phone which went well because the kid who helped me (Brady) was great. He got me a deal and new phone for a good price even though I wasn't eligible for an upgrade. The issues: the guy helping my girlfriend and her mom was a straight up lazy jerk who wanted to argue with me about not being able to put iTunes music on an android (there's an app for that). Instead of kindly asking me how it works, he insisted it wasn't possible and was rude. When I got my new phone home, I noticed the glass screen protector had a crack across it, but I hadn't so much as put it in my pocket. When I returned to verizon the following week to turn in my trade in phone, my experience was awful. The kid who helped me was not compitent and initially refused to take my trade in because my name had disappeared from my account. He finally let me speak to a manager who replaced my screen. What a hassle overall...I'll definitely take the time to travel to a different verizon store to avoid this one. read more

Tonight's manager Heather, older woman, was so indifferent it made me want to scream. 3 of us had to watch over 20 minutes because there were not 2 people on the floor and low and behold she was not the back the whole time and only came out because 3 more people walked in. They offer bundles but don't have everything in stock. And they won't let you buy 2 of 3 and have the 1 shipped.. They did have a combo product in stock that would have resolved the problem but would not honor my request to substitute two of the products for the one combo package... If I wanted the combo I'd have to pay more. So now walking out of the store with no case until Friday because they refused to honor the bundle price with the in store purchase of case and home charger with car charger being shipped. Verizon exerts their mafia over its somers through their inflexible systems and cheapassedness. read more

My phone would say "Preparing SD card" and it would not get out of the lock screen. I did some research that said either it was a fatal flaw with the phone and they would exchange it or they (or I) could try to restore the phone to factory settings to see if that would fix it. I decided it was better left to the professionals to see if I would need to wipe the phone clean. In the store, I explained my problem, the "tech" guy Michael tried fixing it. He couldn't get past the lock screen either. He decided my screen was the problem because the Droid logo "looked funny" and that when I traced out my password, it wouldn't respond (this is why I BROUGHT MY PHONE TO YOU). He said I would need to re-set my phone and all it would wipe out was my contact list, and as long as I had my email info, I could get all that back. Skeptically, I said fine, he started the re-set. Halfway through, he started tapping the screen. He said "see, your screen isn't responding" because he was trying to get to a menu. I said I think you have to hold down the "Volume Up" and "Camera" buttons together to get to that screen because I had read it online 2 hours before. How can I know more than this guy if he said that was the only way to fix it?? After re-setting my phone, the phone froze right away (shocker) and the little Droid guy turned white when Michael touched it. Now he was positive my screen was screwed. He told me my phone was beyond repair and sent me over to Sales. At Sales, some girl with a crap attitude said I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until October. That was it. No "let me check if you have insurance" (I do), no "let me check if we can exchange your phone", nothing. These idiots let me (a CUSTOMER) walk out of their store with a phone that didn't work. In the parking lot, I was pretty sure the SD card was bad, so I popped it out, the phone worked fine. Except now the expert Michael had now wiped out all my apps and pictures because my "screen" was apparently the problem. When the hell did it become OK for adults in trusted positions to be so stupid???? If it was up to the Verizon people, I would've either A) paid $651 to get a phone before my upgrade or B) not make phone calls for 70+ days. My husband and I went to this store because I was having trouble upgrading my phone online and wanted to see if they could process it in the store. There wasn't a lot of people waiting but it took an extremely long time to be seen by an associate and the only thing he did was go through the Verizon wireless site on my phone to try to purchase the phone. During the process he repeatedly tried to talk us into giving up our unlimited data plan that we were grandfathered into even though we explicitly stated that we wanted to keep it and had already weighed the costs. When the sale failed to process on my phone he gave up and said it was because of our data plan but I had done my research and it shouldn't be a problem from November when they raised the price for the data plan. After speaking to his manager, he said that they "might" be able to do it on their system but we could lose our plan. At this point we just walked away, since he was trying too hard to get us off unlimited data and it was obvious that he must get a kick back or something if he had made the sale. We call customer service when we got home and lo and behold, they were able to process the sale no problem without changing my account! The agent was also shocked that I was lied to at the store about not being able to do upgrades on phones with unlimited data. I will never go back here again and this was the worst buying experience I have ever had. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS VERIZON LOCATION. TERRIBLE SERVICE, LONG STORY....but totally worth the read...TO PROVE IT My mother and I (loyal verizon customers since '02) got texts to our phones saying to come on in and trade our currents phones for an early 18 month upgrade. So like loyal and faithful customers, we did just that. (My girlfriend also came to get an upgrade, I promise this piece of seemingly useless information is helpful for this review) WELL. We walk in and are immediately greeted by one of those staff members walking around with the ipads (I mean tablets , sorry that wasn't an apple plug...or was it?), took our names and within 5 minutes we were being helped. Off to a good start right? Read on my friend, read on. Our biggest concern, going from apple to droid, was if there was any way we could transfer all our data from old phones to new. (I.e. pictures, contacts, music, texts etc) He immediately shot us down saying there was no way. And basically made us feel stupid for even asking and believing what they say in disney is true about all your dreams coming true if you just believe. My girlfriend then kindly mentions to him there is in fact an app you can use to transfer your iTunes music to your driod phone. He was surprised that someone knew more than the little information he knew about verizon and how the software they promote functioned. Now, with this new threat of a customer being more helpful then him, he seemed to change is attitude about helping us (and I mean the slightest bit. Comparable to feeling the earth move beneath your feet) and decided he would try to upload our data to verizon cloud. Which didn't work. And instead of brainstorming to figure out a better solution he just said, "Sorry. I tried." My mom and I decide to suck it up and just start a new life with the new phones. You should probably grab some snacks, I'm not done with my story. He pulls up our account, attempts the upgrade and for some reason can't. He goes to the manager (which is in the magical land of Narnia in the back room whom you never ever see. I question if he or she is real) gets some "manager" codes, and still our upgrade won't go through. He hits us with another, "sorry. I tried." And expects us to just leave. We are incredibly confused why we were told to come in for trade ins, and then not get them. He said the system physically won't process our upgrades. Meanwhile, my girlfriend is checking out at the counter across the way. With a bag full of fun items like a brand new phone, some chargers and cases. Note: she wasn't even eligible for an upgrade OR trade in but the Narnia manager approved hers, and with the help of the best salesman in the world (I forget his name but conveniently he wasn't a permanent employee, just visiting from another store. So if you locate him please let me know) she was checked out and on her way in no time. We salute you, you glorious employee who is never to return to this location and deem this verizon location forever incompetent. Back to my mother and I. Turns out they just updated the verizon database software and some accounts we're affected and could not be bothered with trying to upgrade or do trade ins . We asked of we should try another store, come back later, like...what goes on, give us our options. They said they didn't know what the best option was, possibly to call the verizon headquarters and talk to those narnia people. They ended this more than unsatisfactoy trip to the verizon store with one last ,"Sorry. We tried." At this point we were livid. We were ready to cancel our verizon account and switch to a new provider. But that's just crazy talk because verizon is the superior service to all other phone companies. Curses. So long story long, do NOT go to this verizon location for even the most basic needs. I think it's required that you do not give once ounce of care for your customers to work there. I swear its a written in clause of their application for employment. This is a multiple incident conclusion, people. I was stupid enough to return to this location two weeks later with my girlfriend to drop off her trade in phone. They wouldn't take it because she wasn't on the account (which is lies, how did she get a new phone two weeks ago if she's not a registered customer). The salesman that helped us was not eager to help us and was ready to leave us with a "Sorry, I didn't try at all, I just said no because it's easier." Never again will I return to this location. First of all, he was so incredibly rude, making comments about my phone and data usage -as if it's any of his business- and about former spouses that used to be on our account, OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I am appalled by how unprofessional he was. Also when I asked the difference between one phone and another he said "nothing". I find it hard to believe that there is no difference. I dread going here. Wait times are extremely long, even for the simplest of things. Every day is like the line at the deli on the day of the Superbowl at Verizon in Saugus - doesn't matter what time or day you show up. I needed two sim cards. I was told 45 minute wait. I asked if they could just give me the cards and I'd activate them online, but they said they can't do that. They have to insert them and activate them themselves. This is a review of the (lack of) customer service of the physical store. I would describe the customer service as callous and incompetent. A few months ago, my phone was having problems where the SIM card would randomly lock me out (PUK Code is Locked error) for no rational reason. It took their tech support person well over an hour to figure it out, and he needed a phone call to do that. On the plus side, he was at least polite and helpful. Fast forward to yesterday, after I got the horrifically ugly Kit Kat upgrade. New mail, messaging, and calendar are awful, half my ring tones missing, hideous unreadable narrow font, bunch of new crapware I never asked for, and various other problems. Told very rudely by a rainbow-haired idiot that I cannot go back an OS version (which is bull, SU access could flash it), and only got suggestion to contact HTC or download apps. No suggestion of WHICH apps might actually do the things I wanted from her, either. So far I've managed to find a decent... calendar. So basically now I'm paying them however much a month for a crappy phone with a UI that I hate, that I never would have bought if it was like this when I got it. "Some people won't like an update" -- well YEAH, so maybe your fat butt could maybe offer some HELP, instead of bouncing me to HTC (who also did nothing) and Google (who don't even offer a forum to complain in). I don't know what I'll be using in the future but I am pretty close to being DONE with Verizon and Droid after this experience, unless maybe I find someone who can help me root the phone and undo the damage this alleged "update" did. read more

I just went here last night. My phone did an upgrade and it killed it. I tried a few on line fixed to no avail. Figured I would bring to the specialist. They were very friendly and polite. Tried all they could but pronounced my phone.....dead on arrival. This was about minutes before they closed. They did not make me feel rushed or unwelcome. Ya see I already ordered mine in the square one mall store last week, it was relatively painless and easy. I got into this store about 7:35 I was exactly 3rd in line... There was a handful of people in the store and 2 of them from what I can see being helped... The greeter which they have which I think is a giant waste of an employee just stood there after signing people in, and me and two others waited and waited and waited.... They never finished with the people in front of me and after 25 minutes and the store actually being locked (they close at 8:00) I just asked if they could unlock the door and let me out... I guess having a giant stand alone store really bright and spacious is way more important than anything else... you know like having employees that can actually help customers. I wasted my precious time going to this store to ask for Verizon technical assistance for transferring data on my existing iPhone 5 to a new iPhone 6 and then wanted to transfer my iPhone 5 to another family member who wanted to keep their existing Verizon phone number. A female rep at this Saugus Verizon said she would not assist me. She also stated that once I transferred my data from my iPhone 5 to iPhone 6, my iPhone 5 would no longer be available for use, and therefore, could not be passed on to the other family member. When I ordered my iPhone 6 online with a Verizon rep, I had explained what I wanted to do otherwise I would have just kept my iPhone 5. In any case, I was able to execute my actions online with a Verizon rep. So the question is if I can do everything I need to do online, why do Verizon stores exist? Thursday evening walked into the store to make a purchase of a new phone. As I walked in, I wasnt greeted by anyone. looking around the store, I noticed one man at register being helped and one family of 4 looking at phones. I walked around back to the make myself noticed when I saw 3 employees and a LG brand rep playing with 3D goggles. I stood watching in hopes I would get noticed. 10 minutes has now past and not one person has offered to place my name in the computer. I replied "no im just here to watch you guys play with your fucking gadgets, of course I need help" at that point they put my name in the ipad and said it would be about 15 more minutes and they were really busy because the new phone comes out tomorrow. I looked around the store and it had dwindled down to about 3 customers and me. The LG guy then turned to me and said, "well since your here why dont you take a look at these new glasses" so I put them on and took a "virtual reality tour" after talking with the LG guy for a while who introduced me to the New LG phone he said that he would get a rep to help me since I was ready to make a purchase. He packed his back of gadgets and made his way to the front of the store where he spoke with an employee. I decided to check out some phones. Well over a half hour has past at this point and I look up to see all employees watching a clip on one of the employees phones. Out loud I made a remark and said this is rediculous. One individual shopping came up to me and said "wow stores empty you would think they would help us." An employee finally came over and said, " Eddie? " as he looked down at his ipad. I then stated "No" he goes, "ok your the next to be helped, should be 10/15 minutes" at that point I said this is absolutely a joke and walked out of the store. Went in to see the new Samsung Note 8. Was in 3 days before and got to hold it but very busy so I left. I'm a Note 5 user for 2 yrs. Wanted to justify buying the Note 8 because I saw some nice features. Walked in & went to look at the phone and try it out. The Stylus pen was missing in both new phones so I couldn't try the stylus features. A clueless tech approached me who barely knew the phone was on display never mind answer any questions. Said the stylus pens were probably stolen. Great buddy...you're really gonna sell tons of these things when customers can't weigh the new features, etc. There was a big guy named Tony there who convinced me to purchase the Note 5 when it first came out. Really knew his stuff but don't see him there anymore...Too bad...I went home and watched some great videos about the new Note 8 on YouTube and purchase with VZ online. Much better service! This store is notorious for long waits as well...Will look for another store in my area as I'm done with the Saugus store... read more

Not sure about the hate this place is receiving but I bought my phone from here and had no issues with wait time or rude employees etc. Came back here nearly a year later and same experience. Guy by the name of Steven was there and was really nice and helpful. It's great to know they don't fly through employees (I saw a few of the same employees there both times); it gives the place a small business feel. read more

Best to avoid this location. I was eager to take advantage of an upgrade opportunity and knew exactly what phone I wanted. So, when I arrived at the store I was in a fairly good mood. My mood heightened as soon as I saw that the store was not very busy. It's all down hill from here. First off, I was completely ignored by the slovenly staff members who were dressed as though they had just raided the Goodwill box in the parking lot. And these were the girls. (I can't even use the word "women" here.) No problem. I knew exactly what I was looking for and just wanted to check availability and get it all processed. The problem was that as soon as I was ready to make the purchase these arrogant, entitled 20-somethings vanished from the floor as though someone had called in a bomb scare. When I finally was able to catch the eye of the one salesperson behind the counter she shot me an annoyed and dismissive look and went on assist some kid who had to add minutes to his pay-as-you-go phone. My first inclination was to get on the phone to Verizon Wireless Customer Service and cancel my business and personal accounts. But that would have been counterproductive. Instead I called 611 and was directed to the Verizon store about 4 miles away in Everett. In Everett I was greeted at the door, given a bit more info on the phone I wanted to buy, and got the entire process wrapped up in a most expedient, courteous, and professional manner. I was very pleased. Back to Saugus for one last comment. With millions of people looking for jobs I cannot for one minute understand how these clowns actually are able to hold job. Final suggestion. If you really, really have to go to this location perhaps you should not wear a suit or a tie. It confuses them. Instead, stop by the Goodwill box. You also might want to stop next door and pick up a sandwich as you will likely be stuck for a very long time. read more

The staff that checks you in is extremely incompetent and no one can help you with ANY of your technical issues. They told me that I needed to wait in line (a 45 min wait) to get a battery replacement for my phone, only to find out that THEY DON'T SELL BATTERIES THERE! I had to go to a different store for that. These people are robots, can't think efficiently, strategically, or outside of the box, and worst of all they do not know the store's offerings/services. I receive useless service every time and will now avoid going to ANY Verizon store at all costs. read more
