Today Ricky ... the representative here redeemed Verizon. About 9 days ago I went to the other Verizon store on Burbank across from Ralph's in my neighborhood, here in Sherman Oaks. I was mistreated by the so called "Manager" there ,Trevor, who was prejudiced towards me. Closet racist, perhaps. I guess it was also because I wasn't in a suit and looked like a "thug" to him. Judging a book by its cover, .... so wrong. Today, I had to pay my bill again and so I went to "Trevor's Exclusive Verizon" store on Burbank. I knew intuitively that he would be the only one inside the store when I got there. My intuition seldom fails me ... and yes it was just Trevor and I. The second "date" or "battle" ? I went in there in the spirit of peace and love but with the strength of the lion activated just in case" Trevor the street fighter " came out and decided to fight me on the job again. I told him the same thing I said 9 days ago, "I'm here to pay a bill"....then offered my drivers license for identification. He looked at me calmly but calculated and stubbornly after he realized it was me and asked again, "is it prepaid" ...rather than looking my account up .... yes, today Trevor failed again. Now, today... the great difference and redemption was humbly offered and served to me by Ricky at this store. I went there after " Trevor" refused to serve me and said they told him not to help me.... ok so Trevor got on his phone to make a call as if I had come there to cause trouble. Black dude with "issues" right... ...So back to Ricky the bright light at this amazing store, I offered my ID and he pulled up my account and asked for a few security questions, then took my payment and he was so pleasant and genuine providing assistance. Ricky is the kind of person that makes people feel RICH and he's the best example of an employee who is an asset to an organization . Ricky was my Rock ! Trevor please come for management training here. Maybe Verizon should read this review and set up a universal standard for their customer service even for the retailer stores because the tale and tail of Trevor really sucks. Very similar experience to the one Jan described. Bought a new car charger and fresh out of the package, it's broken. So, I bring it in. No, they won't credit my charge card back and no, they won't exchange it for the same thing. They've referred me to the manufacturers warranty. The sales guy had to call the manager -- a real brain surgeon named Helen who's about as un-customer friendly as any manager could ever be -- and she told him to basically not help me at all...and that she didn't want to be bothered again for the rest of the night. So, it's now officially MY problem and I'm going to call the manufacturer tomorrow when they open and delve into this. But, here's the kicker...I don't have a receipt. You see, when I bought the thing on Sunday, their printer wasn't working. So, I couldn't get a receipt. No big deal, I thought. But, I have this sneaking suspicion that tomorrow when I call the manufacturer that the first thing they'll tell me to mail in is the receipt and the bad equipment. Again, this is all irritating -- why do I have to do all this? If this fails, I'll dispute the charge on my credit card and we'll go from there. Anyway, go ANYWHERE ELSE to buy your phones or your phone supplies. This is not a helpful store. They're not in business to help people who come in off the street. The people working in the store were nice enough but clearly they are terrorized by this Helen woman who demanded to be left alone. IF YOU HAVE AN IPHONE 5 OR 6 DO NOT COME HERE. This place ONLY sells third party accessories for Verizon phones. They are not an official retailer. iPhone 5 and up models require a lightning cable that has a chip specially embedded inside. The cables sold at this store are NOT OFFICIALLY LICENSED by apple or Verizon so they will stop working after a while. Also these crooks tried to charge me $30 for a knockoff fake lightning cable when you can get the official one from Verizon for the same price and with warranty. Go to an official Verizon store, avoid this one. read more

You won't find a more courteous, knowledgeable and helpful staff anywhere - especially in the cell phone category (which certainly has more than its fair share of grumpy customers AND employees). I have been coming here for several years as our family has grown, and the helpful team always recommends the most cost-efficient plan, and doesn't try to over-sell you on devices. A++ all around. I've been to this store many times. I know lots of people who have had a similar experiences. And I have now had enough. Taylor, who is apparently the manager, has a foul attitude - literally rolling her eyes and sighing when asked to explain something. She is completely unable to answer questions in a logical manner, consistently providing fragmented information. I left the store with an agreement that did not reflect charges that were added to my account. I spent an hour at this store asking different questions, none of which were answered accurately. The next day, I got on the phone with a Verizon rep who explained everything to me in about 10 minutes and took off the unauthorized additions to my plan. Steer clear of this store. They convolute the process far passed the average headache. Taylor, an incompetent manager with an attitude, has no talent in or understanding of customer service. read more

The sales people try hard to work with you and that I appreciate, but if you have a problem with the products they sell. Your out of luck!! I read through some of these negative reviews and I understand people are more likely to write a review if they've had a very negative or positive experience, but I think you have to take these with a grain of salt. I personally had a great experience. Tayler was the associate who helped me with replacing a broken phone and overall she really came through for me and provided me with exceptional service. It was refreshing to not be given the run around and she was very accommodating with my price range requests and was able to help me out. When the replacement phone ended up dying on me she had me set up with an alternative relatively quickly in and out in like 15 minutes. I was astounded I'm usually in Verizon stores for at least an hour dealing with the employee walking back and forth between manager and me so I was happy they were able to help me out quickly. Honestly form opinions for yourself. Take the time to treat people with respect when you have an issue and you'll be surprised how far people will go to help you out and make sure you leave satisfied. read more

You go to a Sprint store in Encino to talk about getting new phones and possibly knocking your Sprint bill down a little with a different plan. The store is virtually empty, but you're told to put your name on a list, sit down, and wait your turn. (Seriously, it was "sit down" -- not "why don't you have a look around in the meantime" or "feel free to play with the phones on display.") Employees who look like models are all bustling around doing things that don't involve helping customers. People who walk in after you get help -- rich Valley housewives; fat guys driving 'round in jeeps through the city wearing big diamond rings and silk suits. Okay not really the silk suits part. But everything else. After a while of this, you walk out, drive about three miles, and see if you can get anyone from Verizon to care. In contrast to Sprint, you meet three people who are actually happy to help you. Prior to our visit we'd spoken to customer service reps from the major cell carriers and knew that Verizon would be a bit pricier than what we were paying before. However, the employees helped us pick a plan that was ultimately more or less the same, if not $5-10 less, and included two new phones. I've been phone/plan shopping on and off for two months, and I have to say, I wasn't totally prepared to buy. However, being the only people in the store, getting three employees' attention, and generally feeling like it was really important to them that we be happy with our plan put me in a buying mood. It was also kinda cute how proud they were of Verizon's coverage in our area. Being noobs, we had a lot of questions. So. Many. Questions. All three of the people working knew their stuff. If anything, things were overexplained (the $35 restocking fee if we changed our mind about the phones was pointed out no less than five times). They suggested a tempered glass screen for the phones -- a good idea, since between my husband and I we've broken three screens -- but we were inclined to pass and buy them cheaper online. But they gave us a good deal and then Ernesto installed them for us, painstakingly. He even set up our work email accounts on both phones, which saved me so much aggravation. One thing I noticed about the other reviews: they act outraged that a business needs to make money. A business is not a charity. It is not their fault that a part you bought had a manufacturing flaw, so it's not required that they take a loss on it. Is it nice when a retailer deals with that for you? Absolutely. And they should. But not all retailers are empowered to do that by the manufacturers. Store-level management are even less empowered. read more

Probably the best experience I've ever had at a Verizon Store hands down. First off, that man Menooa needs a raise. He helped me out with everything and then some. I knew my experience was going to be great because as soon as I walked in he was already helping a customer, but when he saw me come through the door he made eye contact with me and told me he'd be "right with me." I've been to a lot of places and half the time I'm not acknowledged and I'm stuck there waiting without knowing when I'm going to be helped. He proceeded to help the customer and then warmly greeted me by introducing himself. After, I had questions about an upgrade to which he answered easily and thoroughly, we proceeded to get me a phone that I didn't expect to get. I feel like I'm rambling at this point but I never write Yelp reviews because I don't want to take time out of the day to write something about a stranger. But this man deserves all the praise he can get because even while I was there people kept coming in and he treated them with the same respect he did me. Also, he was there by himself and handled everything like a true professional. So in short. Menooa deserves a raise or some sort of recognition for his flawless work ethic and professionalism.
