Amazing service and delicious food made our dinner experience one to remember. Our waitress Erica was exceptional and walked us through the menu throughout the evening, guiding us to delicious bites and drinks. Our favorites include the raw bar options, ricotta cavatelli, crispy octopus, and chocolate sorbet. I look forward to my next visit!

I would not come back. And I don't recommend this place. The hosts were absolute snobs and when you're paying NYC prices in Philadelphia, it better be for both food AND service. They said we have to sit at the bar without a reservation in advance but does not show us to the bar area? A decent host should help the guests that they allowed in to the seating area or at least help the guests navigate the seating. Instead we were just left to wander in the bar area without knowing what to do. Clearly the serve staff also expected the hosts to do better as well. When you're paying $23 for a cocktail in Philadelphia, you deserve to be shown to your seats by the hosts, am I crazy? The food is good but not life changing. I want to disclaim that the bar service was much better, and our bartender Amanda was really nice to us. This experience is just a shame because I fully enjoyed Vernick food & drink. do not come here, you money is worth better service elsewhere.

My family and I absolutely love this place. Food, service, ambiance, menu choices - top notch!

I wanted to set up a surprise dinner for my girlfriend's birthday. The service definitely exceeded my expectations, communication was smooth, and the staff were very accommodating. The restaurant itself is beautiful and in a prime location. The food, however, felt like it could have been better. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 3/5 Parking - Valet/Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant has stunning decor with a very modern design. Everything felt immaculate and well put together. Service - This is where the restaurant truly stood out. Even before our visit, as soon as I made the reservation, I reached out to ask about accommodations for my girlfriend's birthday to make sure she had the experience she deserved. I also wanted to bring a large bouquet to be placed on our table. The staff maintained consistent communication, made everything easy to coordinate, and were more than willing to help. Once we arrived, at least five staff members wished my girlfriend a happy birthday, and she was genuinely happy with the level of attention and thoughtfulness. What We Ordered - -Yellowfin Tuna Tartare (The fish itself was fresh, rich, and buttery, but the dish was overpowered by an overly salty flavor. It would have been much better if the natural sweetness of the tuna was allowed to shine) -Swordfish Milanese (This dish was excellent. From presentation to bold flavors, everything came together really well and we both loved it) -Jerk Roasted Cod (This dish felt a bit flat, lacking flavor and depth) Final Thoughts - While a couple of the dishes didn't quite meet our expectations, I would still come back because of the exceptional service. It left a lasting impression, and I'd be interested in trying other items on the menu. PS my girlfriend loved the surprise dessert the restaurant provided, and it was delicious as well.

My husband and I had dinner at Vernick Fish a few weeks ago when we were in Philly for a day. We were a little bit early for our reservation so were sat at the bar for a drink (I had a glass of wine, while my husband had a gorgeous cocktail). We were seated on time and at a beautiful table - the restaurant has a lot of glass and the reflections on them in winter created a great ambiance - very elegant. The service was great throughout - and that's why it's a solid four star review from me. I didn't find the food all that memorable, but the service really put it over the top. Every member the staff who interacted with us was incredibly friendly and helpful and welcoming. Perfect service. We shared several dishes: some oysters from the raw bar menu; the King Salmon tartare (spicy mayo and shiso, served with potato chips); crispy octopus (with mojo verde, shishito peppers, scallion); sea scallops a la plancha (with muhammara, roasted oyster mushroom, sumac); broccolini (with white bean, giardiniera, sourdough crouton - a side dish); and warm apple cake (with granny smith apples, cinnamon, honey oat crumb). I enjoyed most of the dishes quite a bit (the side of broccolini was the only one we regretted ordering). The cook on the scallops - perfect. But the dishes that stood out to me the most were the octopus (that mojo verde!!!!), the tartare, and the cake! I would be remiss not to mention that they brought us bread and butter to start the meal. I normally avoid bread service - not because I don't eat gluten, but because I tend to want to avoid filling up on something I almost always find unremarkable in favor of saving room for what I ordered. But this sourdough and flavored butter? I was scraping the plate for every last bit of that butter. It was a treat. Vernick Fish is beautiful, the service is incredible. For a seafood restaurant, the cook on the seafood has to really hit the mark - and at Vernick, it does. They're getting it right. Fresh King Salmon? Leave it alone. Beautiful sea scallops - sear but don't cook them too much (they didn't). Octopus must be one of the hardest proteins to get right, because I've had more bad versions that good - octopus that really gives your molars a chance to prove their worth. But at Vernick? Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Just what you want. Overall, a very good meal!

The warm lighting, holiday decorations, and strategically placed plants made the restaurant feel inviting and we received a warm greeting upon arrival and were seated promptly. Both our alcohol free and regular cocktails were tasty and bar looked to be fully stocked to accommodate any taste. While the seafood was cooked perfectly, each of our dishes would have been better with some restraint in the amount of salt used. Our server was okay- not sure what other word to use. But as an example, she asked if everything came out ok while staring at the plates on the table rather than looking at us. Other staff seemed fine and helpful. At Vernick's price point we will probably favor trying restaurants that we haven't been to before rather than returning soon.

Assorted oysters. Super fresh and delicious

Was visiting Philly for a few days and my bf made a reservation for this restaurant after seeing great reviews about it. We were early but they were able to seat us right away. The ambiance was really nice and fancy, they had a ton of open space so plenty of seating. The kitchen is an open kitchen against the wall so you can see the chefs at work. The waiters were attentive and friendly. Started off with assorted oysters from their daily oyster selection. Got 3pcs of four kinds of oysters and they were all so fresh. I can prob sit there and eat oysters all night, but I had to save my stomach for the rest of the food. Next was the crispy octopus and it was perfectly cooked, I would order that again. For large plates, we got swordfish milanese which was dense and tasted almost like chicken to me, and the roasted cod which was good, but wasn't as flaky and tender and I would have liked. The fish didn't wow me unfortunately. For the price point, I expected better. Lastly for dessert, we ordered a scoop of the banana ice cream and the chocolate one. They were both delicious. It was our anniversary so the waiter also came with a complimentary white dessert, but she accidentally thought it was someone's bday instead so there was a "Happy Birthday" chocolate sign with a candle in the dessert. She apologized and later came back with complimentary cookies with the right "Happy Anniversary" sign. Unfortunately, the white dessert was not good at all. Cookies were crispy and well made though!

I wish I remembered my server's name here because he was a star and so helpful. Either way - this was the best pre-show meal and I loved everything I tasted. I asked for one of the mocktails to be cockified and it was so delightful. We tasted some things from the raw bar and I would go back and sit at the bar for crudo snacks and cocktails anytime. This is a great spot for date night and has a "see and be seen" kind of vibe but not in a pretentious way. Would be a great spot for groups since they have some larger tables, and they have the level of hospitality that will accomodate. I will be back!

Ambiance- nicely located in Four Seasons hotel and bar in front of you just want to get drinks but definitely need to make a reservation and it's top rated on Open Table. Service-great attentive waiters especially for busy Thursday evening Food-gourmet in size so don't expect much more tapa experience for us from oysters were fresh with condiments like horseradish and a home style hot sauce. Yellow tail crudo was amazing flavor but bite sizes. Octopus was worth it with the sauce on plate was so tasty. Also scallops in pasta were tiny as well. I was expecting larger scallops for this type of restaurant and they were tiny.

These apps, Octopus and Sardine Toast were incredible.

Hands down one of the best meals I've had in Philly. The service, the ambience and the food were mind blowing. The red snapper and swordfish were the highlights but nothing was bad. They should def get a Michelin. We had an excellent experience and cant wait to return. We liked it better that the original Vernick.

Located in the Four Seasons hotel it has a very nice and open ambiance. Staff were generally nice, food service was quick, and the dishes were good. The crispy octopus was a good light starter. The broiled oysters were good, just too many breadcrumbs for me. The whole branzino is enough to share. It has a slight hint of sweetness, grilled, and good.

    Is this place kid friendly?

I did not see any children when we went for a 730pm seating on a Thursday evening.

I know that the seafood is great but has anyone tried the rib-eye and is it any good?

The Deluxe cookies were a treat w/ the peanut butter varieties a fav, but ALL the cookies, including the ones I didn't pick, were delicious. A little annoying the upcharges for deluxe varieties when I thought that was the point of picking an option that includes them, but the additional free cookies helped soften that. I swing by Insomnia Cookies on random days too because sometimes you just need a warm cookie to reset your mood. They always come out soft, gooey, and fresh from the oven. The store itself is clean and kind of cool to look at. There's a whole wall covered in giant industrial-style on and off switches. I still wish I could have pulled one just to see what would happen. Staff was chill and genuinely helpful. They were patient while we tried to figure out which cookie was which during the ranking, and they kept the energy light and fun. Same when they handed out the free boxes. Whoever runs the HQ location clearly knows how to make the experience feel special.

Even the grilled bread used for the bruschetta tasted fresh. Arancini with pork and veal ragu peas was great; the peas added a new texture to the traditional arancini. We also got fried artichokes as an appetizer. It was crispy and salty -- I could munch on that alone. For the entree, I got the veal braciole with tagliatelle and tomato sugo. The whole dish tasted homey, like what you would get at an Italian family's house. The veal braciocle was small, and I wished there was more protein and less pasta to be more balanced. For dessert, everyone raved about their gelato. Their pistachio flavor was clearly a favorite, as it had intense fresh pistachio flavor. It was also tan in color, as you would expect a pistachio nut to be, not the artificial green color added to other pistachio gelatos. I had the amaretto cherry flavor. It was good too, although I wished it had more cherries. A few people got their espresso, and really enjoyed it. They roast their own coffee on-site, so I am not surprised again how fresh it tasted. Tip: Pour a little of their fantastic coffee over your gelato to make your own fresh affogato. I came here with a large group and despite the tight space, we felt cozy. Service was spectacular. We had multiple food allergies in the group, and the waitstaff took each one very seriously, asking down to the detail if the allergy was by consumption or cross-contamination. Thank you to the staff for being so conscientious!

They definitely seem consistent, which I really appreciate. I came with a couple of friends on a Saturday afternoon, and wow... this place was packed. Even with the crowd, the staff stayed friendly and worked quickly, so we didn't have to wait too long for our drinks. One thing I still love is the seating. They have giant plushies sitting in the booths, so if you're by yourself, you're not just awkwardly staring at an empty seat across from you. Maybe I'm the only one who appreciates that, but I think it's a cute touch. The matcha here is the real deal. It's bright green, fragrant, and has that rich, earthy flavor with just enough natural bitterness that you know they're using quality matcha. A lot of places advertise matcha, but this one actually delivers. I ordered one of their matcha desserts with ice cream, and it was creamy, refreshing, and let the matcha flavor shine instead of burying it under sugar. My only complaint is that it was pretty warm inside. It was a hot summer day, and I honestly couldn't tell if the air conditioning was running or if it was just fans. Either way, it wasn't very cool inside. Thankfully I had ice cream, so it didn't bother me too much, but it's something to keep in mind if you're stopping by on a really hot day. Overall, another great visit. Friendly staff, consistently high-quality matcha, and a fun atmosphere. If you're a matcha lover, this is still one of my favorite spots in Chinatown.
