Went to Vernon's on 2/28/26 We had made a reservation, so our seating time was minimal. The table was very nicely prepared for us. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs. It was Saturday evening so there were many people there. Our food was served without much delay. My entree was veal parmigiana and my lady had the 4 cheese lasagna. Both were excellent and generous size. The table bussing was done quickly and appropriately. The boys were right there when dishes were ready to be removed. We went for an early Dinner. Linda had the eggplant Parm and Spaghetti. It was yummy very plentiful. She enjoyed the bread that was served also. I had the Vernon's Meatballs and Salad. DON'T BOTHER going to Vernon's!!!! We had reservations on Valentine's Day. Got seated, waitress got our drinks and order. Then she never came back!!!! major YUM! what a great way to end a Tuesday night after a long day of work. wish I could've caught the waitress's name (almost pixie-cut grey hair), but she was very personable and we got to share some laughs! Made sure to keep our waters full and consistently checked on us throughout our meal! calamari was absolutely excellent and pretty neat that they just lay them in the sweet thai chili sauce instead of having it on the side to dip! I wasn't too hungry after eating a couple hours before so I opted for a caesar salad (who knew that a couple years ago I had first found out they put anchovies in caesar dressing!?) ... anyways, added the blackened chicken and it was definitely a kicker (or should I say rooster?) I couldn't seem to quench my thirst but I'm not complaining! Accompanying date ordered the chicken francaise which I have never had, but I did try! What a wonderful flavor! Fun, impromptu ladies night out. The calamari was quite delicious. If I had had gluten free bread, I would have soaked up all the juices with it and wiped the plate clean. I did not ask for any, so I do not know if it is offered. The sea bass, lobster and risotto was perfectly cooked. It paired well with the 2017 chardonnay on the menu. It was also nice to be able to enjoy dessert as well. The chocolate desire dessert was gluten free. I devoured it even though chocolate isn't my typical dessert choice. I started going to Vernon's when he first opened and it has changed,not in a good way. The last time I was there, it was a Saturday night, there was an event going on, with no special parking for the people the at the event which meant a full lot. Somehow, there was a mix up with our reservation even though they called to confirm. We were seated at a high top table in the lounge, next to the front door. We had 2 elderly people in our party who wear uncomfortable on higher chairs and couldn't hear as the people at got "warmed up" The food is nothing special anymore unless you want to join the owner and his friends as they plan their next expensive get away while drinking and the specials he creates. read more

This restaurant has been on 422 for many years, and has a deserved reputation for turning out fine meals with excellent service. We were recently here in a party of seven people, and the orders were placed and served pretty quickly. We received plates of fresh Italian bread, olive oil and grated Romano cheese to eat while our meals were being prepared. Everyone in our party was happy with their selections. The meals selected were a salad with meatballs, veal Parmigiana with penne and a side salad, eggplant parmigiana and salad, steak salad, and angel hair pasta with shrimp, scallops, and lobster. Vernon's is a small, locally owned and family operated restaurant that sets a high bar for Italian fare. It is located on the outskirts of Niles in an unassuming building that's easy to miss. When you first enter you are greeted by a hostess stand and are seated as quickly as possible. There is a long bar with a wide variety of choice brands and booths and tables are situated throughout. The interior is intimate with dim lighting and fosters a relaxing atmosphere. When I was seated I was greeted by my server and scanned the menu. Vernon's offers a variety of classic Italian, with a range of salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, chicken, beef, and seafood. I ordered a plate of Angel Hair Marinara and a bowl of Zuppa del Giorno (white bean soup). Complementary warm bread was brought to the table with a small bowl of herb infused olive oil. The bread was fresh and paired well with the dipping oil! The soup was a savory fusion of flavor that set the stage for the main course! The spaghetti was generously served and perfectly balanced, with a hearty sauce that complemented the angel hair. Lastly, the service was attentive and cordial and the server expresses a deep knowledge of the menu. This place is an old staple of my whole family. We've literally never had a bad meal in here abs it is one of the most authentic Italian places you'll ever find. Great ambience, helpful servers abs overall some of the best food you'll ever taste. I recommend the peppers in oil, meatball appetizer and the chicken piccata for sure! Born and raised in Warren but have been gone for 15 years. Vernon's is always a stop when back in town. This past visit did not disappoint. Tortellini with Short Rib and the Butternut Squash Gnocchi were both amazing features. We wanted to eat slowly and take little bites to make the meal last. My mother had the original gnocchi however, wanted to different sauce and protein and they easily accommodated here requests. Highly recommend. read more

I would give five stars but the dining room is a little drab. The food was excellent my wife had this pasta seafood and she said it was perfect. I had the veal and peppers it was delicious the veal was tender was just the right amount of hot and sweet. We also had the beans greens and sausage appetizer that was amazing it was a greatest combination of tastes ever. They served warm bread with oil the bread was soft and warm just perfect. From A Fellow Italian My Self, I ordered take out felt very overwhelmed; & think there should be a specific area for take out. For that I was directed to a bar for pick up; I couldn't even sign for my food somewhere without interrupting someones evening. Nor did I receive any napkins or utensils to eat my food, I had to get them else where. I originally thought the mushroom portobello would be enjoyable but since now I didn't even have a knife to cut it. I was unable to try to eat it with out making a mess. 1/10 Gnocchi was cooked perfectly and taste of the sauce was okay 5/10; just seemed a lil watered down. More sauce the better. The wedding soup was good; I wish there was more meatballs 6/10. The over all win was definitely the salad. I loved the beet they put in there and the vinaigrette was phenomenal. Stopped by this evening for a take away order. I apologize for not taking any pictures but let's face it, take away is not made for pictures. The young lady at the hostess desk was very helpful in promptly getting our order and taking our payment. We were on our way out of the restaurant in minutes. We went the Italian comfort food route with chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta, raviolis and meatballs and a side salad and wedding soup. Also,some excellent fresh bread was included. The food was delicious, as always, and depending on your appetite, it could be easily be enough for 2 meals. People should keep that in mind when they complain about the prices. This used to be one of my favorite places to go. I honestly say I will never go back there again. The kitchen sort of blotched up an order and the manager came and asked how our meal was. Well out of the 5 of us one meal wasn't what was expected. We told her what had happened and she agreed and said she would buy them a drink. When it came time for the bill she had sent a dessert. When she found out the drinks that were ordered at the beginning of the meal were $30 she decided she'd give free dessert instead of the drink she promised. Then had the nerve to argue about it with us. She had a bad attitude and completely unprofessional. If that's the way to manage she needs to find a new profession. NEVER GOING BACK!!! read more

What is it about Italian food on the East coast? It seems I find a great place every time I travel past the Ohio/Pennsylvania border.
