Stopped by today and was a tad disappointed. I got the chopped beef sandwhich and fries and the only thing hot on the plate was the fries. I went here because I had such a GREAT experience at Vernon's catfish. This was a surprise, the atmosphere is wonderful (kind of like a throwback) but when I went there was only one girl working the entire restaurant. The food came late, the meat was a grey color and extremely tough, and overall there was not a saving attribute. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Wow! Don't go here and waste your time and money. We came here because of the playground slash toys near the patio. The toys are all broken and very outdated. No one in their right mind would buy the toys the way they look at this place. All the balls the kids could play with were deflated. Plus it doesn't look like they have mowed or blown the play area for quite a while. The food was just ok. Hoping they buy new play toys are hire someone keep up with the lawn maintenance in the playground area. We won't be back until they fix this problem and the food is better than ok for 12 dollars a plate. read more

Had the same meal as take out three times in the last few months. Always delicious. I order the 2-meat meal with Ribs and Brisket. Tender and smoky meats... Mmmmm. I like the bbq sauce too - not too spicy or vinegary. The beans are good and not too salty. The potato salad has a nice texture with small chunks. I would prefer a tad less mustard, but still tasty. It comes with all the fixins (Pickle/onion/bread). The staff is very friendly and helpful. I like the buckets of fresh peanuts on the tables. Looks like a rustic little Texas roadhouse. It has a big yellow sign that can't be missed. The parking lot was packed and there was a line for food. Must be a good sign. Good- Tons of options, french fries, and tater tots that certainly don't disappoint! I ordered the BBQ beef sandwich. It had good flavor, but not too bold, so I had to add a little kick to mine and my friend order the grilled chicken sandwich with bacon YUM! Be prepared to wait when they are busy. It's a small local's joint. * Did you know??? You can set up a tab and pay Monthly. Perfect for teenagers and regulars. * Sweet Tea- AHHH, the glories of Southern style sweet tea!!! Seconds on the lips... * Casual, cozy, and filled with quirky decor, but you can also sit outside when the weather is nice. Bad - Parking can be a bit strangled because there aren't that many spots, but it's totally worth the hassles to at least compare the BBQ. We went to Vernon's BBQ on 3/13/24 and I ordered a Jr Hamburger and Fries. My hamburger was medium rare and I asked for it to be cooked more. The cashier took my Hamburger back and in just a minute or two brought it back out and it was still not cooked. I asked her again to have it cooked more. This time she takes it back in just another minute brings it back out and the bun was cut in half and I asked her who cut my hamburger in half and she said no ma'am that's your same bun you had cut. She said the cook just took the patty off your bun and then put it back on it. The hamburger was still not cooked and wasn't even a FULL patty now. This cook just did not want to give me a Hamburger that was not Medium Rare I guess. At this point I just gave up and did not eat the Hamburger. We eat here often but will not be back after the way we were treated. The cashier was very nice and apologized and said I would be mad also if this happened to me. She knew the cook just wasn't going to give me a Hamburger that wasn't medium rare. Several of us go to Vernon's and after I told them about my experience they were in agreement with me that we will need to find a New Place to get us a Hamburger - We are Seniors and don't have money to waste on food. read more

Front staff are very irresponsible and don't care about doing their jobs , placed an order with the young red head lady and she acted like it was a bother to take my order , then after waiting 30 minutes for our order they never put our ticket in to make it . Had great food and service but today couldn't even get food cuz the ladies were so worried about getting ready to close they didn't put our order up. And after we saw them find it and hang it up the dudes in the kitchen hadn't even started on cooking anything and when we asked for a refund they continued to lie saying the stove was broken after we watch three different orders come out before ours! We just moved to Conroe and decided to try Vernons gor our bbq fix. First off the Customer service was great. It was so good it landed them an extra star. I ordered a 3 meat plate with Cole Slaw and potatoe salad. The sides were fantastic..no complaints on those. The ribs were tender and flavorful but not enough smoke for my liking and kind of small. My Brisket was a little bry but my wifes was a little fattier and moist but both had good smoke flavor. The sausage on the other hand tasted boiled no color on the outside like it was never smoked..it was seriously underwhelming. Over all though decent experience. read more

Was looking for good home cooking and good bbq. Did not find it here. We arrived around 6pm and the place was not busy at all. Ordered two meat/two sides the brisket was dry and had no flavor along with being cold. Sausage was the same way. My daughters chopped beef sandwich was dripping with bbq sauce and was served cold. Had Vernons for my brother n laws birthday. Friendly staff and cool little joint to hang out in while we waited. We've eaten at Vernon's Kuntry Catfish before and love it, but this BBQ is great too. The restaurant is clean The service is good The prices are reasonable The fries are fresh cut I ordered CFS The meat was tender and perfectly cooked The breading was crispy The gravy was thick and creamy The steak didn't taste like it was seasoned at all. The gravy had very little taste. My GF had CFC The chicken was perfectly cooked and had no seasoning in both the breading and the meat. We seen a post from Montgomery County about Vernon's. So we drove an hour tonight to try them. We ordered to steak dinners. One rare and one medium. They both came out well done and cold. It's been awhile since I've done a review. Mainly because I only write 4-5 star reviews and as an old-guy, I don't really like to be on a computer so it has to be worth my while to write a review. =) Anyway, BBQ joints can be pretty dicey as to the quality of the food but as this was my first time in Texas, (And I believe it's the law to visit a BBQ place on your first time there.), so my wife and I decided to give Vernon's a try. My wife had something with fried veggies; I don't recall as I'm not a veggie-guy and there's something totally wrong when you're at a place that serves meat and order veggies. She did enjoy her meal. As for me? I had the brisket plate. AWESOME!!!! It came with 2 sides. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! So good, I ordered a pound of it to-go so I had something for the road on the way back to Galveston. Service there was great! The hostess there (a young blonde girl) was polite and attentive. I loved the place so much that I loaded the name and address into my cellphone for a return trip when we're back in God's country. (Or is it God's Kuntry?) Was really looking forward to Vernon's, because we love the fish down 105...however, it was disappointing. The CFS had no flavor, no seasoning, and was overcooked, teetering on burnt. The "salad" consisting of chopped iceberg and 2 tomato wedges was, lackluster to say the least. On the bright side, my wife's club was very good, and so was our toddler's grilled cheese.
