Had them at my daughter's birthday party. We were the second party of the day for this vendor. This company is very flexible with their services meaning I didn't have enough kids to have braiding done since some of the kids were at her first party and didn't need to be redone. We were allowed to replace the kids with adults. They did a great job. Their prices are higher than they were about 7 months ago when I referred them to another party. Maria is - in a word - amazing! Her braids are like a work of art. I was so sad when I had to take my daughter's braids out, as was she. Maria has worked with the Burlingame Mothers' Club, braiding hair at the events including the annual Holiday Party. There is often a long line of young ladies anxiously awaiting their turn. Even with the long lines, Maria is patient and works on each girl's hair until it is perfect. She brings her own accessories to "glam" the braids, such as flowers and ribbon with glitter. We had a Frozen themed birthday party for 30 kids and Maria was wonderful. She was so responsive and the braids were such a total hit. What I also loved is the ribbons and the decorative flower she gave each of the girls. This was not just an ordinary braid and you couldn't get a more excited bunch of girls. Maria is fantastic! We had her over to our daughters party last week to braid sever girls before they did their gymnastics dance b-day party. The braids were amazing! She brought everything she needs: ribbons, flowers, beads, you name it. The results were stunning. Our daughter wore her braids for five days (until we demanded she shower!) And an added bonus, when she took out the braids she had a nice wave to her hair (normally straight). So now she braids small sections, leaves it for a day and then takes out when she wants waves. :) All the the girls were thrilled with the results and had a fantastic time. Maria tried to educate the girls on this history of braids but that's a tough challenge when they are amped up on cakes and snacks. But A+ for effort. I enjoyed hearing about this history. My only suggestion is to find out if Maria will be coming alone or bringing a helper. With seven girls it took almost two hours to complete. This put a wrinkle in our schedule that we had to adjust. No big deal, and I should have asked ahead of time how long it would take. So we just set up a mini dance party and had the girls call out who is "on deck" :) I think every parent took one of Maria's business cards. They were so impressed with the braids. She really is an artist. I'm sure we'll be meeting with Maria again! Oh, call her or text her, they attend some of the farmer's markets. you can get a quick braid done there too. That's where we met her. She told me she does wedding, and other events as well. Very fairly priced if you ask me. For the work and the quality and diversity of the braids. Very fair. Oh, she brings a pile of photos of braid ideas. This was very helpful for many of the girls. Maria and Kathy came to my daughter's preschool graduation party yesterday - we had about 7 girls, who all looked amazing (I will post a photo when I upload pictures)! Since we had so few girls, the moms had their hair braided as well, and each braid matched the person so incredibly well. My daughter's hair still looks beautiful this morning. To finish the party, they even did a little face painting. They have patience, and are able to braid ANYONE's hair! My youngest daughter is 18 months, with fine hair, and doesn't sit still, but sat for Maria, and ended up with the cutest braid! We have had the pleasure of working with Maria three times over the past 2 months and not only does she do great work, she is quite professional and reliable! Our first introduction to Maria's work was at a friend's birthday party - our daughter came home with a beautiful braid that she refused to undo. We then worked with Maria to select a braid for our older daughter's bat mitzvah and she even braided our younger daughter's hair for fun during the practice session. The braids from the practice session lasted over a week while we went camping and the girls loved the fact that their hair was out of the way, especially during the long, hot hikes.
