[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's been almost 8 Months since our dog Nascie was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor that was confirmed by an MRI and NOT ONCE has Dr. Moore returned Any of My calls to speak to him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After several medications mistakes that he has made he will not call me, instead I spend time talking to a CSR there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What happens is after you leave and if you have any issues you go into a phone queue to speak to someone, someone who works from home like Leslie who had a crying baby in the background as I am trying to tell her Nascie had a seizure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This person than takes down the information and advises "SOMEONE" will call you back within a day or two.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When they call back its never the same person, its another CSR who gives you the doctors Response and if you have a question about the doctors response, than its another "SOMEONE" will call you back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In our case Dr. Moore made several medication mistakes! First I was told after her diagnosis to wean her off the Prednisone, so I did that and Nascie then start having tearing from her eyes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to call and let a CSR know that I weaned her off the Prednisone and I think that was a mistake her eyes are tearing up and she appears to be in discomfort.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to wait a day for a call back, which was from another CSR to tell me Dr. Moore said the optic nerve doesn't touch the tumor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She is probably having allergies. HOWEVER, I researched this and told the CSR that "Yes, a brain tumor in a dog can put pressure on the optic nerve causing significant eye issues, including tearing, inflammation, and pain" than I had to wait for the CSR to go to Dr. Moore and wait for another call back only for the next CSR to tell me Dr. Moore said to put her back on the Prednisone. He should have never taken her off the prednisone, from my research the prednisone reduces the swelling around the tumor. NEXT he told me to wean her off the Levetiracetam that was initially prescribed by our Vet. When I asked why are we weaning her off the Levetiracetam he said because Zonisamide has better results, so I listened to him. It's important to note that after Nascie started taking the Levetiracetam she didn't have anymore seizures. She had a good 2 weeks of no seizures until the MRI was done and we followed Dr. Moore orders. Within 3 days of Nascie being weaned off Levetiracetam SHE HAD A SEIZURE ON Sept. 2, another one on Sept 3rd, another one on Sept. 5th and another one on Sept. 6th. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally they call me back and I asked WHY DID WE WEAN her off the Levetiracetam if it was working? The CSR told me because most people can't stick to the strict every 8 hour Schedule. I was never told this! No ONE ASKED ME and I WAS NOT WORKING so this should have been asked of me not assumed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Next was in October Dr. Moore said I was not given the correct dosage of Levetiracetam. I advised I was giving Nascie what her VET who initially prescribed it told me to give her. Dr. Moore's CSR told me it should be 250MG 3 times a day. We were giving her 125MG 3 times a day. It's important to note From the time we put her back on the Levetriacetam in early Sept until October, Nascie had no issues! However, I increased the dose per what Dr. Moore told his CSR to tell me and within 3 days my 15 pound dog was vomiting, had diarrehea and couldn't stand on her own without falling over. I than researched what happens when you give a dog too much Anti Seizure medication, I mean my little 15 pound dog was getting 850 mg combined (250mg 3x a day of Levetiracetam and 50mg twice a day of Zonismide) and everything Nascie was going through is what happens when you over medicate a dog. I stopped Immediately and within a week she was better, but it took 2 weeks for the diarrehea to clear up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And in the following months anytime I had a question or asked to speak to Dr. Moore he will not call me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now, 8 months later she's having Seizures and I've asked for someone else other than Dr. Moore. Nascie initially saw Dr. Knowels when she was 2 years old. I was told I would get a call back, that was 5 days ago![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]SHAME ON ALL OF THEM! She's Important. God led me to NCP. NIko & Dr. Parker saved my dog from being euthenized yesterday. My Frenchie injured his back 3 weeks ago, can't walk, meds causing GI issues, diarrhea, urin incontinence, refusing to eat bland diet for days. Our vet, ER vet and 2nd opinion vet, all said to put him down, saying he is suffering too much and nuerology was too expensive. We scheduled to euthenize on 1/20/26 5pm. My Bassett has been having back issues, exhibiting reoccurring discomfort, and had to go to the 24 hour emergency vet, who took X-rays and voiced concerns about possible spinal issues. A follow up with my vet ended with a recommendation to take her to this place as he could see some issues but not enough to fully diagnose them, and VNC has an MRI machine. Getting an appointment was easy and soon I was seeing Dr. Plummer, expecting the worst. After an extremely thorough examination, including having me walk her ouside so he could watch (after cautioning me against walking her on the hot asphalt) and review of the X-rays he said that while she was exhibiting signs of pain at home he wasn't able to get her to show them in the office and wanted to hold off on an MRI for a bit as he didn't feel it would be beneficial and instead adjusted her meds, stating the pain could be arthritis which was normal for a dog of her age, and prescribed a low dose pain killer. He said to give it a week and then to reach out to him again over the phone to advise as to how she was doing and that we could decide on a further course of action at that time, including a MRI if it was necessary. MRI's and subsequent surgery's can cost thousands of dollars. Typically if you give a doctor a scalpel they are going to operate. It was refreshing to get an honest medical opinion which didn't take the most expensive route which would have been very easy to do considering how we feel about our pets. I appreciate the expertise and care which he took in going over my girl, and I left feeling reassured and confident that he knew what he was doing and wasn't just shuffling me through. The office front office staff were friendly and professional, and the waiting room was large so dogs in pain and afraid weren't tripping over each other which frequently occurs in veterinarian waiting areas and they have bottled water for the dogs and people. Total cost of the visit was under $250 which is pretty good for a specialist. read more

Our dog was completely blind for days. We had to nurse her back to health as half her brain was damaged. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But we were never told the reasoning for the stroke. I'm sure they're great, if you can actually get seen by them! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I placed a call to veterinary neurological center about a month ago with regards to my dog having right sided weakness. I was told that he needs to be seen for evaluation before bringing him in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, I had to travel out of town due to a family member unexpectedly being diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive form of cancer. I took my dog to a clinic down in the Los Angeles area to be evaluated. They said that it seemed like something in his neck (without any type of imaging) was causing the weakness, and prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. Two weeks later, I'm back at home, and my dog had a seizure. I called the clinic that I visited in Los Angeles, and they said it was not likely that the medication caused it... But I stopped giving it to him anyway. A week later (last night), he had another seizure, and one more this morning. Due to prior knowledge, and an Internet search confirmation, two seizures within a 24 hour period errs on the side of danger and should be addressed. Clearly something neurological is going on... [[HIGHLIGHT]]I placed a second call to veterinary neurological center and again they gave me the runaround. Saying that he can't be seen by a neurologist without first being evaluated " for a seizure disorder at his primary vet".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I let them know that he has been evaluated within the last month, the not so kind representative said that he wasn't seen for seizures, that he was seen for right sided weakness.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I feel like they are related, and other than the right sided weakness, he was in great health. What else needs to happen apart from three seizures in one weeks time in order to be seen by a neurologist? [[HIGHLIGHT]]After reading several reviews, it seems as though they take emergency walk-in visits... why didn't this woman that I spoke to on the phone suggest bringing him in for an emergency visit?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not all emergency clinics have the capability of performing an MRI, but I'm sure a specialist in neurology does. This clinic is amazing! My dog Ozzy has had back issues for years and would have flare-ups about once a year. His most recent episode wasn't clearing up with the usual meds and crate rest, so my vet recommended a consult with VNC. They were able to see him promptly and an MRI revealed he had a ruptured disc and disc material that had pierced a nerve- poor baby! The surgery was the next day, which went well, and he recovered for a few days in their care. It's been a few months now and he's off his strict crate restriction and back to running and playing with the rest of the pack! I can't say enough good things about VNC. The staff was incredibly kind and went out of their way to keep my partner and I informed of Ozzy's progress while he was in their care. Instead of having us go through extremely expensive MRI's and xrays he suggested that the most cost effective plan would be to genetically test her for Degenerative Myelopathyuch first. This only cost a coUple hundred compared to the thousand or so it could have cost for tests that probably wouldn't have led to a diagnoses. It's nice going to a vet that understands how expensive things can get and give you options. To us it showed that they care for their patients more than bringing in another dollar. Dr. Plummer had a wonderful bedside manner. He was sincere in his concern and examined her thoroughly, testing her reflexes as well as her eyes. He basically checked her from head to toe. He personally called me to break the terrible news about Sadie's positive test results for the disease. I felt he truly nOt only cared for Sadie and was saddened by her diagnoses but he also had concern for us. He let us know if they're was anything we needed we could always call or come in. He even offered to do check ups on Sadie over the course of her diseases progression. The staff is also very personable, friendly and caring. Also another yelper commented on the expensive tests but anyone who owns pets knows how expensive veterinarian care can be which is why Pet insurance is available but also this office accepts Care Credit cards which for us was a lifesaver. If you're worried about cost apply for a Care Credit card. Plus they're not only good at vet offices but also at dental offices, eyes doctors, imaging and more. Overall this is a fantastic office with wonderful staff and vets who love their furry patients as well as their humans. Vet Neuro is amazing!!! If you're reading this, you're probably worried because your vet told you to take your dog to a neurologist. Rest assured, this place will help your baby. I called another place first and they were too booked to see him urgently. I was disheartened and worried, until I talked to Sam. My dog needed an emergency appointment and Sam at VNC personally made it happen. She fit him in last minute around a cardiology appointment I needed first, in order to get him cleared for the MRI. Sam took personal responsibility for making sure he saw the doctor right away. I felt so relieved to have her on my side helping me with something so scary. (He went under general anesthesia for the MRI, so they needed to know that his heart murmur wouldn't be an issue... not all dogs will need a cardiologist first.) There are three amazing ladies at the front desk juggling the needs of callers and patients. They love animals, are incredibly knowledgeable, and sweet as can be. I am still amazed at the customer service. They called me so many times to check-in on my dog. They treat you like you really matter and you feel very safe leaving your dog in their care. Anything I forgot to ask the doctor, the ladies either called me to check-in and would ask the doctor right away for me, or I could email and they would get back to me very quickly. Sam even told me that my dog really loved Ruth who took care of him the night of his surgery. He gets separation anxiety and makes himself sick, so I was so relieved that Ruth made him feel so safe and loved. Dr. Spoor personally explains the diagnosis and treatment options in an a way that you can understand, backing it up with visuals on the MRI, and communicating prior case evidence. He also explains step-by-step what he is checking at the physical exam. Before the MRI, he explains the possibilities of what the problems could be and briefly went over the treatment possibilities for each scenario, focusing more time on the most likely diagnosis based on his physical exam. He was spot on with the physical exam diagnosis. The MRI just confirmed it and told him where specifically to do the surgery. On top of presenting such great expertise, he is very personable, professional, and has a great bedside manner. He demonstrated great compassion for my dog's pain and my worry as well. I never felt rushed. He was there to explain anything I needed help understanding. It really was comparable to my personal neurologist visits at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Spoor wanted to learn everything he could about my dog and was genuinely concerned about helping him... and it paid off! Surgery was necessary for my dog to live pain-free. He had a herniated disc in his neck compressing his spinal cord about 50% (intervertebral disk extrusion.) It hurt him intermittently to move his head up, so he would often look down or squeal when it was aggravated. Dr. Spoor was able to remove the problem area completely. My dog has other clinically insignificant disks that could potentially turn into the same the same thing down the road if he continues to jump on/off furniture, so now I just have to train him not to jump. (He's part Jack Russell, so that's fun!) He spent three days in the hospital. He was tired and coughing the first day. He couldn't move his head much. By the second day, he was excited to go home and had complete movement in his neck and paws. He is one week out of surgery now, still has stitches in, and he doesn't even know he's sick. He wants to play, but needs to heal. He's 12 years old and acting like a puppy because he feels so good now. Dr. Spoor completely saved him. He couldn't have lived in that kind of pain and I'm not ready to lose him over debt. Surgery is a decision not everyone will understand, but it's a personal choice for you and your dog. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful clinic, staff and doctor for such an intimidating, worrisome process. I was also very worried about the cost of something I personally knew I had to do. (Thank God for plastic!) The cost of the surgery was close to the cost of the MRI. Vet Neuro is empathetic towards the owners and tries to make it reasonable for us. They don't want you to find out what's wrong with your dog and not be able to do anything about it, if there is something else they can do to help. Talking to owners in the lobby, not all dogs need surgery. Some need chronic medication, some will be partially paralyzed and need wheels. They treat a wide range of neurological issues. I think the MRI (and Dr. Spoor) are truly your key to knowing what exactly is wrong. Before surgery, I looked online to try to find pictures of what my dog would look like after surgery. This review is long overdue! We had to visit Veterinary Neuro Center in Phx in September of 2019 with our sweet ShihTzu Chewy. In the week prior to our first visit, what began as crying/yelping/shaking upon touch, soon turned into our worst nightmare. We watched as our innocent sweet boy began losing function to his back legs. Slowly but surely, starting as slightly impaired walking, quickly progressed to what could only be described as impending paralysis. Fearful, we got him into our regular vet ASAP, and was told that they suspected a back injury of some sort. They recommended Vet Neuro Center ASAP. We were able to get an appt I believe next day. We saw Dr. Laura Stainback that day, scared and tearful. Upon examination, it was recommended that we get imaging done right away. Soon we learned that he had suffered a ruptured vertebral disc, of which was compressing his spinal cord at about 70%. To say we were devastated is an understatement. We made the choice, no matter what, that he was just too young and too loved for us to give up on him. He underwent a sedated MRI and surgery that day. Leaving him was something that to this day can make me tear up just to think about, BUT I'll say, the staff at this facility 100% made it bearable. From the front desk staff to the veterinarians, I could spend every day thanking them and it still would not be enough. They are the most caring and absolutely phenomenal people on this planet. Dr. Stainback is an angel on this earth. The care that I watched her give my sweet baby, I truly trusted her the second I saw her get down onto the floor to help comfort Chewy and examine his little body. Because of her, and the care they gave to my boy, he was able to be a part of my wedding 1.5 months later (with supremo caution of course). I will forever be indebted to her and all of the staff that helped get my boy back to me. Now, 2 years later, he is thriving. You can't even tell anything of the sort took place. Thank you, THANK YOU Dr Stainback and staff, for turning an absolutely horrible experience, into something I was able to get through; for giving our fur baby many more years. The doctors at the office came highly recommended by our regular vet (who we love) after we couldn't get to the bottom of the head tremors our Doberman had been experiencing occasionally. Dr. Moore was very knowledgable, personable, thorough and practical in his approach to helping us.
