I was a customer at Veterinary Care of Belmont for ~17 months and, after recent events, I will never go back. My sweet cat died in the custody of Dr. McLean on 5/31/23; little more than an hour after I had dropped him off. My cat was admittedly sick (which I will explain below); however, I firmly believe that this office's ignorance & negligence heavily contributed to my cat's death. I encourage you to seek better care for your pet. In February, my cat was breathing heavy, living by the water bowl, and over-urinating. To a qualified individual, these would be clear signs of an infection, thyroid issue, or diabetes. After a $347 visit which included an x-ray and bloodwork, Dr. McLean simply said my cat was constipated. A couple weeks passed and the symptoms didn't improve. So I spent another $335 on a second visit and more bloodwork to correctly diagnose diabetes. My cat suffered additional time due to ignorance at best; carelessness at worst. I learned quickly about the disease and poured hundreds of dollars into supplies & food. With diabetic patients, it's important to understand how their glucose level fluctuates during the day. Dr. McLean's archaic approach to that was to put a port in my cat's leg so that we could take blood draws every 4 hours over a weekend. I don't know why he didn't suggest a simple blood meter or a modern Bluetooth sensor. The port and blood draws were a waste of time & money ($458). I was not given a good strategy for dealing with the diabetes and my cat continued to suffer. I'll never forget the night he was severely hyperglycemic and the doctor suggested I give him 3ml of corn syrup. That led to an office visit the next day (early April) for fluids, more bloodwork, and a ketones test to the tune of another $425. As I learned more, I decided to put a glucose sensor on my cat. Dr. McLean initially protested. But I bought a sensor and paid the doctor $145 to install it. The sensor undoubtedly extended his life, giving me precise glucose readings. I was using the Freestyle Libre 3 system and bought a dedicated cell phone to receive the data. The sensor had to be replaced every 2 weeks. I was charged ~$90 for each re-install. Interestingly, that price included $39 for a technician to spend less than 5 minutes shaving a small spot on my cat for the sensor, using a ~$20 quiet electric razor. I've read that, when treated properly, 1 in 3 cats can go into diabetic remission. Thanks to diet improvement and insulin adjustments, my cat was down to a small fraction of a unit of insulin, per day, in late May. His diabetes was going away. But he was still breathing heavy. For some strange reason, I still trusted Dr. McLean. And I tried multiple times, multiple ways (phone call, voicemail, e-mail) in late May to get guidance on the situation. The doctor didn't react or respond to my cat's symptoms, the worry in my voice, or the frequency/urgency of my contacts to his office. That is blatant negligence in my eyes. On May 31st, my cat was still breathing heavy and conveniently he was due for a glucose sensor change. I took my cat in, dropped him off, agreed to some bloodwork with Dr. McLean, and went home. An hour or so later, the doctor called me and said my cat was struggling & needed to go to Blue Pearl. Confused & scared, I gathered some things, left the house, and was back at the vet office in less than 30 minutes. But I was too late. My cat died before I could reach him. There are no words for how badly my heart broke that day. Suffering from pronounced diabetes for so long damaged my cat's heart and caused fluid to build up in his body. It's my opinion that, had the doctor been more capable of handling the disease and if he had been less negligent in that final week when I was desperate for help, my cat might still be living. I failed my cat and wasted a ton of money by taking him to Veterinary Care of Belmont. Please don't make the same mistake I did.

Here are my lil doggos that Dr. McLean has worked so hard to keep healthy.

I have an 11 year old chihuahua that Dr. McLean has taken very good care of over the past couple years. When we came in, Bell had a bloody stool and had difficulty eating among other several health issues that our previous vet couldn't diagnose. Now Bell is doing better than ever. It turns out that our precious girl had an infection in her reproductive organs along with cancer. We weren't ready to give up Bell. And Dr. McLean fought hard to keep her with us. Flashforward to today, Bell is alive, healthy, and tumor free! Even the fussy appetite she used to have has gotten better . Dr. Mclean's prices are fair. He is very kind and gentle with animals. He takes the time to get to know each pets behavior and take that into consideration when giving them treatment. He and his staff have even gone so far as to call us a few days after our visits to make sure that our Bell is indeed doing better. Also he available late and is good at informing you about his care plans! I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else.

The waiting room area. If you look closely in the picture, it appears that there are complimentary bottles of water.

I've also recommended Apex to several friends over the years, and they always tell me how amazing their experience has been too. Dr. Cary takes the time to really get to know each pet as an individual. What works for one of my cats might not work for the others, and she always tailors her advice with that in mind. She's incredibly thoughtful, knowledgeable, and compassionate -- and she makes herself available via email, which has been so helpful when I've had questions or wanted to run something by her. She also really gets the financial side of things. She never pushes unnecessary services and often suggests effective OTC options when appropriate. She's even helped my fiancé and me come up with ways to save money while still giving our pets the best care possible. It really feels like she's on our team. Anytime I've had an issue, Jamie or Dr. Cary has resolved it quickly and kindly. And I always look forward to seeing Barbra -- she absolutely lights up the front desk with her warm hugs and sweet personality. She's truly one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Apex feels like family. I trust them completely with the health and happiness of my fur babies, and I'm so grateful for all they do.

My friends have already left Apex for the reason that if they have to deal with the male office manager, it is never a good experience. He has some type of personality problem that involves hyper-control. If you want to be "put in your place" deal with that office.

Our typical vet is quite far away from our home and one of the cats in particular is very anxious in the car so I wanted something close for the both of us (because moving time consuming so taking half of a day to go to the vet that an hour away isn't the best use of my time) I thought I would give them a try as they are much closer (only about 20min) and if it wasn't great it wouldn't matter much as it would be a one time visit. The process for your first visit is a bit tedious. They email you two forms you have fill out online before you can even make an appointment-this is for each cat so if you have multiples keep that in mind. I had to fill them out twice. At first I filled them out and submitted them. A few hours later I got a call saying they had some of the forms but not all but they could see that they were submitted. What? So I asked if I cooked schedule appointment and fill out the forms this evening (remember I'm in the middle of moving and work and all my normal life things) but no apparently they can't even look at a schedule without these forms. Okay...not a great start. So I fill them out again. Another hour passes before I get a call to schedual. As mentioned one of the two cats I was bringing in is very bad at being in the car. So I wanted specifically an appointment that puts us sadly avoiding any rush hour. I asked for a time between 11 & 1:30. Well they don't see patients during those hours. So get ready, because if you need to go the vet you cannot do that here without taking them away from work or sitting in Atlanta rush hour. Hope your cat doesn't mind the cat like mine does. At this point had there not been a time constraint I would have said never mind and found somewhere else but it was what it was. They reluctantly made an appointment for 12 am (so you can make appointments for 12?...I'm confused) Skip to the day of my appointment and they had moved my appointment from noon to 11:30. The only notice I got of this was via my email...which I was not checking regularly especially at that time when I'm so busy with other things (like packing for an our of state move). I just happened to needed to for something completely unrelated and lucked into seeing it. No call. No text. If I had not checked my email that morning then we would have missed our appointment. This also put me back in a longer car ride with cats who do not do well in the car-the whole reason I asked for the specific time window to begin with. So by the time I get there 'm already pissed if because so far everything about this place has been a hassle. Skip tot he appointment. I was there for nearly 3 hours total from start to finish. Staff was admittedly very friendly but 3 hours is absolutely wild. They prescribed my one very anxious cat with the same dosage of gabba that she had before despite my telling them it wasn't effective. They also did not have ot so I had to return. They also made me very anxious about a hernia that has been previously check and deemed safe by her perivous vet. This got me in my head and had me scared about it to the point of almost booking a surgery that isn't medically necessary. When we called back to get an estimate for surgery they said they couldn't know until they were doing surgery - okay so you just expect us to go in blindly on this economy? Have you not performed this surgery before? We also ed for a low and high end estimate and they just said they wouldn't know until the surgery was done. Sorry but no thats not reasonable. They also said they would need to do an other x-ray before the surgery as a first step and they once again could not give me a price for that. Which should be pretty standard. It is also important to note that this place was the most expensive base appointment rate we have experienced to date. So no I'm sorry I can't recommend this place. I went there for convince for a very nervous cat. Came away without a real solution (but spend $60 on the same meds that do not work for her) I have since moved out of state so I will not be returning but had that not been the case we would look elsewhere in the future. If you are making an appointment they have a very sweet hairless cat who loves attention so if you see her please give lots of pets

I hope sharing our story serves as a warning for other "pawrents" and a huge learning opportunity for this practice so no one has to experience what we went through. Our cat was 7 years old at the time and has never had any issues with previous veterinary care. We recently moved to the area and CCoV came recommended. During the first visit everything seemed to go well; Dr. Mike recommended a tooth extraction so I immediately set a follow-up appointment for this surgery.    I had a very difficult time with the office staff when I asked for estimates on these costs. I was met with resistance and misinformation and I was even verbally mistreated in person after making this reasonable request. Even though I felt very uncomfortable with the way the paperwork was being handled, I didn't want to delay care for our cat so I paid the deposit and dropped him off for his surgery.  CCoV never called with any updates like they said they would. When my husband picked up our cat that evening, the tech told him the surgery went well. However, there was feces in his crate and he was having difficultly breathing. We immediately called the office but it was already closed. He began violently coughing and trying to vomit, and a large piece of bloody gauze that was left in his body was dislodged.   We raced to Animal ER where the vet confirmed that our cat could have died if the gauze wasn't removed in time. This failure on Cat Care of Vinings' part to exercise a degree of care for our pet could have been avoided had basic surgical procedures been followed. I don't believe we ever got a follow-up call either to see how our cat was doing post-op, a normal common courtesy but especially necessary after the concerned voicemails we left when trying to figure out what was wrong with our little guy. We have obviously never stepped foot at CCoV since and are highly satisfied with our new vet nearby. Thankfully our cat is still with us today because it could've gone either way after this dangerous situation he was put in. I sincerely hope these issues have since been addressed so proper care is taken with other cats moving forward.

Maybe that is protocol (first come, first serve), or maybe she did not notice me, but she was not the reason for me writing a review. I was brought to the back where I met Dr.Boyce. After explaining what happened, Dr.Boyce suggested two options for my dog; she stay for observation where she can be monitored and administered medicine, if needed again, or she come home with us and we administer the medicine ourselves. He gave us the room to determine what was best for my dog as another attendant brought her back with a catheter for monitoring, so I could see her. I admit I was not fully present due to realizing the severity of my dog, but I knew I wanted her to be around professionals who could help her better than I, if needed. When Dr.Boyce re-entered, I unknowingly and accidentally interrupted him by saying, "we'll let you monitor her," not realizing he was speaking while walking in. I assume the doctor only caught the end of my statement, because he acknowledged it with an "oh, okay" and continued speaking about the preventative medicine we would need to give her when I took her home for good that night. Dr.Boyce then took my dog, mentioning he was going to remove her catheter and left, but again, I was kind of out-of-it with the severity of my dog. By the time the next person entered the room, it was the attendant with my dog without a catheter and her 'instant' medicine. As she guided me to the front, I was confused and told the attendant that I believe there was a miscommunication, because I had told the doctor I wanted my dog to stay. Dr.Boyce was within earshot and spoke up saying "Oh we took out the catheter already, I thought you said you wanted to take her," as he ushered the attendant to take her back. No sorry or acknowledgment of the miscommunication which to me, confirmed the lack of bedside manner I had felt previously with his "oh, okay." Looking back, my annoyance was more so in the fact that nobody confirmed anything, when a simple "are you sure" would have clarified the miscommunication. As someone who has had her for over 15 years, I know that dogs can be expensive, and knowing I wanted to do everything within my financial power to help her get better, I was left in that moment wondering how much extra putting the catheter back in would be if they needed to. We came back around 2 hours later to pick her up. After learning that she had been ok from the attendant, we received the special 'instant' medicine to stop her seizures, but there were no further aftercare about what my dog could or couldn't do, where I was to get the preventative medicine, and especially no written instructions. I arrived home exhausted, and found myself unable to fully explain what do to next, or what to do if special circumstances were to arise. I placed my dog in her bed but was unaware if she was allowed to go to sleep? Was the room light too bright? I wished I didn't have doubts that could have been again, answered. My intention is not to leave this to ruin the reputation of a vet clinic that I'm sure had good intentions - as shown by the 5.0 scoring. It is more so to make aware of gaps that could hopefully be filled going forward by ensuring actions are made with 100% clarity, not leaving dog owners uncertain.
