We are frequent visitors to Paso, love the wine but sometimes struggle with dinner options. Well Via Caravaggio is a fresh new offering of authentic Italian pizza in the comfortable Paso Market Walk. What a great curated wine selection that changes every week. It featured our favorite Barolo this week. The pizza, so authentico. We started with the margarita and finished with the pesto. This review is a couple months late. The pizza here is absolutely the best I've ever had. For the foodies out there, I've eaten at Tony's and Doppio Zero in SF, I've eaten at Flourhouse in SLO, this is the best. Also, the staff was fantastic. The owner (forgot His name sorry) even came over and explained some of the Italian meats we were eating. It's fantastic! read more

We really enjoyed our experience and food here. The owners are very kind and it is obvious how much care (glass and table wear, wine storage etc.) went into opening this place. Our pizza was great and good choices of beer on tap. Cappuccino after was good as well. Great quality ingredients. Nice attention to details (e.g. labeling wine bottles with dates etc.) . It was our first time at Via Caravaggios. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's located in a super great building with a lot of little eateries...savory and sweet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We arrived about 4:10 and were the first couple of the night. My husband was seated as I went to use the restroom. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon returning, as I sat down in their folding chair, it completely collapsed under me and I fell directly on the floor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It made a super loud noise and me yelling, "Holy Crap" on the way down definitely "should" have caught the attention of all employees (and owner). My husband jumped up and asked if I was okay. I'm 64 and headed back for knee replacement revision surgery on the 28th of this month. Our server was concerned and one other gentleman (employee) came over to see if I was okay. After getting up, we actually had a really nice experience. Our server recommended the vino and she was super attentive the rest of the night. The pizza was delicious. A lot of reviews mention "soggy crust". We wouldn't describe it this way. It's not the kind of pizza you can pick up & eat with your hand (think Dominoes, etc...), but rather with a fork & knife. The dessert was delicious also. We would have liked to have had coffee with it, but that's not on the menu. Lastly, getting back to my fall. We were told the owners were there. No doubt one or both had to have heard and probably saw, the incident (it's a very open space). We felt it was weird and a little tacky they didn't come to our table to make sure I was okay. And pretty sure we complemented one of them on our meal on the way out. Nevertheless, we'll be back. It was that delicious. Maybe sit at the bar this time. read more

I was so excited to try this pizza especially since it is authentic from Italy! The person that helped me choose was gracious and nice but I specifically stated nothing spicy! Got home to view a wonderful pizza and took my first bite and was immediately disappointed! It was so spicy I couldn't stand it! My roommate who like jalapeños said 2 pieces was more than enough and the spicy flavor was unbelievable! Unfortunately will not be spending $26 on a pizza I can't tolerate! read more

Absolutely amazing!! I picked up two of their menu pies and was told - "hey, you really should eat it here!" I wasn't able to, but I did steal a slice of one on the way to the car. It was only a five minute ride home, but I ate another slice before I got there! Truly incredible crust. Baked to perfection. It was tasty, texture and flavor was perfect. To the owner unfortunately you missed the premise of my original review the quality of the pizza at $25 for a personal size pizza was a culinary disappointment. If your trying to accomplish this Italian style Napolitano Style the crust was soggy uninspiring for $25. The product should have been great there is better Pizza in Paso Robles! Wine selections the Nibbiolo was really nice a local Paso Winery not sure who it was but it was very good. read more

The Via Caravaggio team catered our welcome dinner at the Paso Market Walk for our wedding weekend earlier this month and I couldn't recommend working with them enough for catering events or just visiting thier restaurant at the Paso Market Walk to enjoy their delicious food! We got tons of compliments on how good the pizza and salads were and their team did a great job with the logistics of serving a larger party. Some of the best pizza I've ever had, and certainly the best I've tasted on the central coast. We've been in twice, and both times had amazing pizza and wonderful service. Tried 4 different pies now, and every one was outstanding. Neapolitan style so be prepared for that. Great crust and quality ingredients. Small but nice beer selection and good wines as well. There's a small dog friendly patio which we took advantage of. Griffin and Crosby gave us excellent and friendly service and we also got to chat with the owner (Katherine) who was very welcoming. Our go to pizza place now, so we will be returning often. read more

Food wasn't what I expected for a wood fire pizza oven. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was great and it seemed like a very new place to eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wasn't impressed with the mushroom pizza or the margarita pizza at all. It seemed very doughy to me. The service was terrible and I would never go back there again. I walked in and felt like none of the employees wanted to make eye contact with me or acknowledge my existence. I stood around looking for anyone to talk to me and they acted as if I didn't belong in there. I'm pretty sure I know why but I'm over it. Was excited to hear about this place, as Paso still doesn't have a good pizza spot. Unfortunately it was disappointing. To start with, the pizza has potential but the dough was not good. It was spongy with no crisp to it at all. Certainly not a proper Neapolitan pizza. Blaze does a much better job with the crust. That's kind of sad.... The toppings were good, and we tried a special pizza that was interesting, though it had way too much cheese. The pricing was the most disappointing part. This place is located in a glorified food court where the overhead has to be low. You order at the counter, there's barely any seating, and you will pay $20 and up for a personal sized pizza. The salad was worse. Literally a handful of arugula and about a dozen pine nuts for $14. It was eh. I'd like to see this place succeed but they will need to make some changes. At least they were all friendly. :-) read more

We are on a never ending hunt for the perfect pizza. We had a Margherita pizza from here last night. And the arugula salad. I would come back for more salad. The salad dressing is awesome! (I need to learn how to make it. ) The pizza was tasty. Not our true love. But certainly well worth returning for another try. The market walk was bustling. We carried out so didn't mind walking around a bit while waiting for our order to be finished. The young woman who took our order came and found me with the completed order. I won't lie the pizza is pricey. Around 26 for a medium pie. However you get what you pay for with here. It's fantastic. The dough, the cheese, the toppings, and if there is a sauce the sauce all are fantastic. Absolutely worth the price to me and I will be back. Just maybe don't bring the kids if you don't wanna spend a decent amount on dinner. The service is great and informative at the bar. Definitely will be returning read more

Can't get pizza to go unless you order in-person? (Can't order to-go online or over the phone.) Good luck making it long term. This place may be big on "in person service" but for those customers who don't want to be "in person serviced" when they want to order to-go will definitely go elsewhere. Nice philosophy, the thought of standing around waiting in their tiny bar height sitting area with three toddlers while waiting for our pizza order to be ready to-go is just very unappealing. read more

Absolutely amazing pizza. We tried two pizzas and both were absolutely amazing. The arugula and lemon was our favorite. The pizzas are big enough to split with someone if you get a salad to share or just have fun and get a couple so you can try them out. The Italian wine selection was great. True Neopolitan pizza!! There is nothing else like this on the coast. The pizzas should be eaten immediately (ie: try to avoid to-go orders). Great wine and beer list as well! Multiple TDNE beers and some great italian wines you can't find anywhere else. read more
