The other day in celebration of Blu's birthday she wanted to try this Italian restaurant in an inconspicuous location of all places. We ensured to get there for happy hour which is 3-6 pm. They have a small happy hour menu but it had what I wanted. 12" pepperoni pizza and you can also purchase a bottle of wine for $18.00. Blu had the bolognese and it looked great and the small piece i had tasted great as well. Blu was impressed as well. It can get busy so reservations are recommended. I was staying at a local hotel and wanted to be able to walk to dinner. I found Viale on Yelp, and I'm so glad that I went! The pasta and drinks were great. Owner Erica was ever-present, and she's an extremely warm person. Bartender Will was kind and attentive (not to mention handsome). I met a regular customer who sat next to me, and she was awesome. We talked about all sorts of things, and the only reason we stopped talking was because it was closing time. There's an awesome vibe at Viale! Came across this place today. Grabbed a sandwich at Jersey Mikes. Noticed this restaurant at the end of the strip mall. I walked over and peeked the window. It looked cute. We decided to try it for Happy Hour. It's refreshing seeing a happy hour got till 6:00PM. It seems everyone does happy hour 4-5? We went here on a Sunday night at 7pm. Initially I questioned why we'd made a reservation as it was pretty dead, however, around 730ish, people started piling in. We started with the arancini which was very tasty! We then got the chicken piccata and shrimp scampi, the shrimp scampi was delicious but unfortunately the chicken piccata was a bit of a letdown as there was basically no lemon flavoring which is a crucial element. I arrived solo at around 6:30 and was seated immediately. The service was timely, and both my waitress and the hostess were lovely. The interior is modern with a bar. The mozzarella & basil arancini $13 was very different from a classic suppli style arancini, but it was a delicious twist. The "lobster ravioli" $27 is a soup dish consisting of a tough lobster claw atop a bed of ricotta ravioli that do not actually contain lobster. I've probably done more marketing for this place than their PR team. So why the one star? Buckle up. Incident #1 A few weeks ago, two friends and I stopped in during happy hour--around 3:30 p.m. The place was empty. We ordered food, drinks, laughed, tipped well. Our sweet waitress even talked us into a round of shots before we left. Enter: The Fun Police. Before the glasses even hit the table, a woman I'd never seen swooped in and declared we had to leave immediately because of "upcoming reservations." No smile, no "thanks for coming," just pure managerial menace. After a happy afternoon with friends, we were essentially shoved out the door. I figured--bad day. It happens. Incident #2 Next visit, new guests, déjà vu. We arrived around 4:45, ordered the works--apps, entrees, cocktails. Everything was great... until dessert time. No menus, just the bill dropped like an unwanted plot twist. Our poor server looked like he was following orders from a hostage negotiator. We had already paid (with a 30% tip). Tables still open. And--boom--she reappears. Same woman, same energy, same "get out" vibes. Then the woman came back to explain herself. I told her calmly this was strike two, that I get turning tables, but there's a line between efficient and rude. She announced she was the owner--then walked off mid-sentence. Classy. Final Thoughts Love the food. Love the staff. The owner? Rude. Arrogant. Entirely out of touch with how to treat loyal customers. It genuinely saddens me to say that I can't continue to support a business run by someone so disrespectful. I'll also be making sure that every person I've brought here -- friends, family, colleagues, and clients -- knows exactly what happened. Go at your own risk. My husband and I go often enough that some of the staff knows us well and what we like to eat. The food is excellent with top notch ingredients. My favorite item on the menu is the house salad. It has spring greens, colorful little tomatoes, those little hard bread thingies and pine nuts. The dressing is so good. There are time I just get a large salad as my meal. I've been looking for a neighborhood Italian restaurant with a neighborly vibe and good food. I've eaten here once and had take out once, in the span of 3 days. This is what my husband and I ate: Grilled artichoke hearts in a lemon sauce, mussels, very fresh, wedge salad, crisp, cold and not drenched in dressing, chicken piccata in a light lemon sauce with delicious pasta and a cannoli that was one of the best I've ever had and I've had them in Italy. Take out was beet salad, amazing! The white pizza also delicious and the crust was perfection. Chicken parm, I've been waiting for a chicken parm that was tender, not overly breaded or oily. Headed to Denver for a concert with some friends recently. Checked out Viale Pizza & Kitchen since it was near where we were staying. It was a cute place. For drinks, I tried the Viale Peach & Pineapple Sangria. It was very sweet. I tasted more pineapple than peach in this drink. Highly recommend if you're looking for a sweeter drink & enjoy pineapple flavors. For meals, I ordered the Fresh Mozzarella & Basil Arancini which was a basil risotto cake. It was really good! I've never had risotto before so I didn't have much to compare it with but it had a slight texture of rice but more creamy. I also tried the tomato basil soup and enjoyed it, I wish it did come with a larger piece of dipping bread, or even two pieces. Seemed very dainty for this bowl. I shared the spaghetti dish with my friend. I appreciated that they separated the meal onto two plates for us. My other friend ordered the pepperoni pizza. Cute place. I've been here with friends and it's been wonderful. Excellent service and friendly and warm. The food is delicious. I was on my way home tonight and didn't really want to go home. Zero garlic, and a discoloration I assume was butter at one point. I've had croutons that were softer. Threw most in the trash and wrote this review. Dislike that bad food is more inspirational to writing reviews, but don't make our mistake. Update: Owner reached out personally and expressed their concern over our experience. I must say my experience was more than delightful. An awesome dinner. I had shrimp scampi over fettuccini. It was so light and delicious.
