This is a good Italian restaurant tucked away in a residential area, but don't overlook it. They do slightly different takes on Italian food, with even a bit of other Mediterranean influences, so it's not going to be the traditional preparations like you'd expect from East Coast-style places, but it's very tasty and the menu certainly has a lot of choices. You start off with their herb-dusted bread and olive oil and your choice of the daily soups, and then your entree arrives in a large portion, so you'll have plenty to eat here. They even bring you a little mini ice cream cone at the end with your check. Prices have definitely creeped up over the years here, as a few entrees now crack the $50 mark, but I think we're all used to that everywhere by now. The strip mall has a funky one-way traffic flow so make sure you are paying attention when you pull in or out, but otherwise this is a pretty easy place to get to, and reservations are a good idea during peak dinner hours. read more

Been many times before, always for dinner, usually get a great pasta or seafood dish. But today we went for Sunday brunch. I got the Denver classic dish, a breakfast burrito smothered in green Chile. Different from the Mexican standard in 2 ways, it was made with Italian sausage and it was much more delicious. Who knew? read more

It's a small place and definitely a little tucked away, but honestly that adds to its appeal and charm. We were the last ones to walk in the door this past Sunday and our server was more than accommodating and welcoming despite our hesitation about being the last ones in. He was also very knowledgeable about the very big menu and was able to steer both my partner and I to delicious dishes despite our minimal knowledge of Italian cuisine besides pizza spaghetti and meatballs. The meal started out with good warm complimentary table bread and then a cup of the soup of the day, which came with our entrees. It was a very good vegetable soup, that only left us hungry for more. I got the chicken scaloppini and my partner got the carbonara. Both were really amazing, some of the best food we've had in Denver in years. We hope to come back soon and save room for dessert next time, as tasty as the small gelato cones they give you at the end of the meal are, seeing our server calmly light tableside bananas foster ablaze for another table gave us another reason to return. read more

Very sad. Jimmy's is a neighborhood place and with Jimmy's long career in the food business this place could be a cornerstone of the neighborhood. Sadly, it just flounders. My visit before this one was not great but I chalked it up to a bad night for them. This visit was horrible. First, the seat cushion in the booth we were offered was covered in duct tape - not a good look. The young lady that was our server may not be cut out for restaurant work. When we sat down we were ignored for several minutes. She finally brought over menus and asked if we wanted anything to drink. She then cut me off mid order and said that she would give us some time to decide. We had decided and were ready to order - she clearly was not ready for us. She relented and let us order. We ordered cocktails and waited. And waited. We finally got our drinks and wanted to order dinner. Again, she was not ready. So we waited. And waited. She finally came to take our order. My dining companion ordered gazpacho soup - but got seafood chowder. The seafood chowder - that I did order was pretty good. The salads were good. My friend ordered the seafood ravioli as an entree and it was acceptable more than anything it was a huge display of seafood. I ordered the VEAL chop medium rare - I got well done, over salted and completely inedible LAMB chops. The sides were asparagus (good) and seemingly leftover mushroom risotto that was mushy, flavorless and would have been better used as pothole filler in the parking lot. The server was very apologetic and offered to get me the veal chop. I like lamb as well and did not want them to waste it so I kept it. Once I cut into it I realized that it was well done, then found it over salted and inedible. At this point I gave up and asked the server to take it away. I ordered decaf coffee and my friend finished her entree. My friend finished and the plate was cleared. We ordered dessert. The decaf coffee I ordered over 15 minutes before finally arrived. After a very long wait the cannoli we ordered arrived and were good but the Amarene cherries promised on the menu were actually Maraschino cherries from the bar - not the same thing. Then out waitress disappeared for a very long time. We finally had to ask the other server to get our check. Our server reappeared and gave us the check. She said that she gave me a 60% discount on the lamb. I was dumbfounded and when she asked if that was ok I just said, 'it is what it is.' Really? You want me to pay for 8 pieces of asparagus when the rest was inedible. We decided to pay the bill and just go. Well, not that easy. There was an error between the original receipt and the credit card slips. I got the server's attention and showed her the error. After 10 minutes waiting I finally got up and went to the bar to see what was going on. The server had some weird explanation about the tax amount and she was trying to fix it. I told her to forget it and we would just pay what we needed to pay so we could leave. She suddenly 'fixed' it and we signed the credit card slips and left. Total time was over 2 hours! Most of that time was spent just waiting. Sorry Jimmy, I don't think I will come back. read more

Service was fine, ambiance affected by the fact that it was nearly empty on a weekend evening. Food was mediocre at best. Not cheap caprese had not very good tomatoes topped by a dry cheese and a basil sprig. Chicken piccatta was a dry piece of chicken with nondescript sauce and a few capers. Gazpacho (both kinds) were runny and canned tasting. And so on...We did enjoy the good bread! read more

This was a favorite but dinner last week was not as good. The arancini starter was the best of dinner. They do have a good small vineyard wine menu. The risotto was good, flavorful. Two of the entrees were bland - the chicken parm and the Primavera pasta. The chicken wasn't spiced at all, just bland chicken covered in tomato sauce. We had the roasted artichoke, which was delicious and then the fettuccine Del Mar, which was exceptional because the sauce was light and not overly thick, creamy and heavy. My buddy J, was hankering to try this new spot that opened I think a few weeks ago, so we doned masks and sauntered into JJSC. The place has a full bar which is beautiful, and nicely set up. We had a nice conversation with the owner, Jimmy, who was originally from New York who moved to Denver in the 70's. Our server, Caprice, who was wearing a mask, but no gloves, was very nice and gave us a few minutes to perruse the menu. The place is a bit pricey, but the Italian sandwiches we had $12.00, with macaroni sides were delicious. The thing that reallty threw us was the price of the well drinks, 2 vodka and cranberry, and two Jack and gin $40.00 bucks. This bumped our lunch with tip into a total of $84.00 dollars!!!! Well, I've tried this little neighborhood Eatery a while back when they had only been open a short while, so I decided I'd try them again. Sadly, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first time. The special broiled Caesar salad was gone from the menu but the regular Caesar was still pretty good, and still included the pretty and tasty Peruvian peppers. The issue I had was with my Arancini, which I had as my entree instead of an appetizer. They were presented to me cut in half which is just wrong. They were also a little dry (probably because they were cut in half) and not hot enough. The marinara was tasty but also not warm enough. My husband's muscles were served on a bed of linguini with just the right amount of Marinara so the flavor of the Muscles was not diminished. There were 3 muscles in the batch however That were not open, and or Cracked and not Open all the way, and It probably would have been best to remove those from the dish. We had a nice bottle of wine to share and the cute little vanilla ice cream cone was a fun way to end the meal. Our server was very sweet and helpful as well. It's a cute spot in the neighborhood and it's nice to be able to walk over on a not too crisp fall evening. We'll be back. read more

Great after church experience for brunch. I had the spinach and feta omelet with a side salad and bagel. The salad was also spinach with fresh strawberries and blueberries and a nice raspberry vinaigrette. They served the bagel with cream cheese. Just a perfect brunch! Will be back soon and often. I came here for drinks and dessert for a friend's birthday. The crowd was starting to die out (it was a Monday night and pretty quiet). I felt bad that it wasn't very busy but our server was WONDERFUL. So friendly and helpful with suggestions. The atmosphere is also lovely - has a European vibe and feels very classy and elegant without the pretentiousness of other places. Despite us only sticking around for dessert/ drinks, and not a full meal, they still comped one of the desserts for my friend - so nice! We ordered the bananas foster and the Nutella cheesecake. Bananas foster gets prepped right in front of you and you get to watch the full flambeau experience. It was absolutely delicious. Nutella cheesecake was also rich and decadent. They even brought out additional mini cones (which I think is standard for all meals even if it's not a special occasion). I have to come back for a proper meal here. read more

My grand-daughter wanted Italian food for her birthday, and we chose Jimmy's because we had been there once and the food was good. This time, they checked ALL of the boxes!! The food was wonderful. But the birthday surprise was incredible! The 7 year old was invited to get up and help make bananas foster for the table. This was an experience that she is not going to forget!! Today was my 2nd time to have lunch at Jimmy's. Once again, everything was tasty, fresh and quickly served. I had a beef tenderloin sandwich on ciabatta bread with a small house salad as my side. Our waiter was excellent, keeping our water glasses constantly filled. The sidewalk in front of the restaurant was somewhat icy; as I waited for my friend who dropped me off to go park, a male waiter come out and escorted me into the restaurant. (I'm guessing he saw that I was walking slowly, with a cane). Wow!! That blew me away. Their lunch menu is varied; sandwiches, salads, soups and some good desserts. We LOVE Jimmy's Jersey Street Cafe. We started getting take out as soon as they opened and love their food. The dinner comes with soup, salad and main dish. Their pasta dishes are so tasty and you can tell homemade pasta and sauces from Scratch. Their soups are also amazing and always have a couple different ones offered. Horrible quality, very poorly executed Italian food. Sauces are watery and flavorless. Brunch is a disappointment - I've never seen someone cook a potato so badly. On top of it all, you're paying Larimer Square prices for East Colfax quality. Only upside is the service - the servers are very sweet and genuine, but they all seem afraid of the owner for some reason. Owner sits at tables with patrons and talks up a storm like they aren't paying high prices for a nice private experience. Will not return. Ever. read more

Two great meals were had at Jimmy's. The restaurant is in the middle of an older shopette in East Denver. Yes, it has ample parking. Jimmy has created a warm, rich and inviting space. Jimmy has had several successful restaurants in Denver over the years. He is a chef, not a cook,, but a real chef and knows how to make great Italian food. Both main entries of pasta were excellent. The menu was extensive with a nice choice of Italian wines by the glass and bottle. Two side Caesar salads with shaved cheese and slightly grilled romaine lettuce was as good as it sounds. Did I mention the warm white crusty bread that precedes the meal and works well with the evoo and balsamic dip. If you have room for dessert, he creates a table-side bananas foster with flames galore. Kids in the restaurant loved the show. Finally tried Jimmys for dinner (takeout) and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hostess was very friendly when I called to place my order and gave me a choice of hot or cold soup that comes with every entree (also comes with bread and olive oil) We tried the calamari appetizer which was tasty and fried well. It comes with a side of spicy marinara and an aioli of which both were good. I preferred the marinara my wife the aioli. The entrees we had were the carbonara and bolognese. Both were very good; my only critique of the carbonara is that the house side pork was larger pieces of bacon that could have been smaller and crispier. The bolognese has very good flavor and I like their egg noodles. The cold soup was a cantaloupe and very sweet. The hot soup was chicken and spinach that had good flavor and was a bit salty. The crowning bite was the butterscotch budino that my wife and I couldn't put down. It is a dessert you must try. Definitely try Jimmys which continues to be busy with diners while practicing social distancing and putting out delicious Italian. read more

My family has been here probably five times, we always bring family from out of town to visit this quaint restaurant with wonderful service. However, our visit last week was so disappointing. The server, not the usual adorable waitress from New Hampshire who is half the reason we go to Jimmy's, delivered our drinks 30 minutes after we ordered them and actually forgot one of our drinks. The food arrived after a full hour's wait and the server didn't even apologize. We were very hungry after waiting that long and my daughter couldn't believe that after that wait her spaghetti was cold! She sent it back. It was embarrassing that we subjected our visiting aunt and uncle to this experience. We will certainly think twice before coming back. read more

It's a small cute little restaurant in a strip mall. But talk about great food and Lindsey our waitress was wonderful. We started with the Arancini, the fried rice balls were large and delicious. My friend had the linguine with white clam sauce and I had the muscles. It was all very good. But the pièce de ré·sis·tance was the Bananas Foster for two. We ate here tonight with my son and his wife. We met the chef (Rodrigo) and the owner... absolutely awesome people and extremely nice! Our waiter Carlos was always present, never left us wanting for anything, explained the menu, and was an excellent server and person. The food was some of the best Italian style food I have had. (I am Italian and grew up with my grandmas authentic Italian cooking. If you get the watermelon soup (sounds odd but this cold soup is absolutely delicious) get it with a shot of vodka and put it in your soup. Trust me you think WTF until you try it the your like OMG! She told me to come on down and had a booth ready for us with dessert menus already placed when we arrived! Things only got better: fantastic pecan tart + bananas foster made table-side. The Jersey Street Cafe is exactly what I imagine a great neighborhood Italian cafe should be. Excellent wine selection, we shared a 2018 Tenuta Le Cologne and later finished off a Sicilia Nero D'Avola that was recommended by our attentive, friendly waitress. I had the Saltimbocca which was well made and properly seasoned. Our group also enjoyed the Linguine with sausage and meatballs, and Veal Piccata. Most significant in my high rating was the sincere desire by the staff and owner Jimmy that every guest leave happy. read more

Definitely a new restaurant on the block and I would give it until end of July to give them a go! I am not sure if we went in pre mature, as they were only open a week, but I will be back to give it a second opinion in a few months. The experience was just weird. I wish we were friends of the owner, because that table that was, seemed to have an amazing experience and time! We got our appetizers that came with the meal (soup or salad) 2 min before our entree. We felt rushed to eat it. Sad thing was, the salad had no dressing, so we had to wait 5 minutes to get our waitress's attention to bring that. The dressing was amazing, I would buy just a bottle of that! My pasta was cold as my partners clam entree was smoking hot. But, our server was not paying us much attention to flag her down to heat it up. However, it was delicious cold. I am not an linguine fan, but it was delicious! Then came dessert, the bana fosters is made table side. But after they rolled the cart over, it was a good 20 minutes before it was turned on. Another 7 before the owner came over to teach the server how to make it. I wish he would have introduced himself as the owner, as he seemed nice and very loveable! Then the check, we had to ask for it. Because no one would come check on us or ask us if we needed anything. Then had to take it back up to the bar, to try to check out. But was quickly told they would come get it and the card. 10 minutes later, they did. I think they just need to get the rhythm of things down. I'll be ready for round 2 in a month or so. We got there about 20 min before 2 (sorry!) for brunch, but the server/bartender was very sweet and accommodating. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and I liked the crispy prosciutto. I did not like the breakfast salad, it has a creamy raspberry dressing. The lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes were delicious but I didn't get much lemon or ricotta. The breakfast potatoes were also good! The nice touches of complimentary muffins/ice cream were very appreciated, plus the bartender gave us a taste of her homemade Orangecello and it was also really tasty. This place opened during the pandemic!!! I found it by accident and happened to meet the owner (Jimmy!) with a great tale to tell about his journey. Last time I was there, I met people who told me they come literally once a month. I take my out-of-town friends here, no one has ever been disappointed.
