Vibe Fremont Apartments - Apartments Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I've lived at The Vibe for nine months and I will not be renewing my lease. I'll start with the positives of this building because there are some. The unit I rented has nice appliances and fits squarely into what I'd call a luxury apartment. The building is in a pretty good location. It's walkable to all the normal things you'd expect from a city including good bars, coffee shops, a grocery store (although PCC is your only option and is exceedingly overpriced), and the Burke Gillman Trail which runs along the water out to Gasworks Park. Also, the building's rooftop is awesome (great views, gas grills, lots of patio furniture). Now onto the negatives. This building sees routine break-ins, which the management is aware of, and yet nothing is being done to secure the building. The most recent break-in happened a few months ago and resulted in me having several hundred dollars worth of packages stolen from the lobby (the building does not have a proper package room so all packages are placed in the lobby). The culprit was caught on camera and was easily identifiable (the building manager graciously offered to show me the security camera footage). The building manager refused to file a police report on this incident despite this evidence he had saying "there's nothing the police would be able to do". I was not offered compensation for the stolen packages and I was informed by the building manager that the building owner(s) have refused to take any steps to secure the building. This would have involved investing in a package locker or a proper package room, or even leaving packages in the stairwell which adds an additional keyfob barrier. It should be noted that the trash room is more secure than where packages are kept (2 separate keyfob doors protect the trash room vs 1 protecting the lobby). What's worse is that the building manager never sent out correspondence to all the residents about the most recent break-in. The only reason I found out about it was because I reached out to him after failing to find my packages in the lobby, so it's unclear the total number of break-ins we've had. The incompetence of building management and their failure to take responsibility for security matters in the building is the largest driving factor for me deciding to move elsewhere. Another consideration about this building is the parking situation. The building has a tiny parking garage and most residents have to street park. On the bright side, a Seattle street parking permit is only around $60 for two years, but finding a parking spot on the street is a hassle. This area is very popular with very few parking garages so it's not uncommon for me to be forced to park multiple blocks away from my apartment, especially when coming home on a Friday/Saturday night. I hate writing negative reviews because I believe people generally try to do their best with the businesses they run but this is an unfortunate exception. I reached out to the building manager one last time before sitting down to write this and they are clearly aware of the building's security problems but refuse to do anything about it. I lived here for two years. The day I moved in, the elevator went out, and one of the owners blamed me for it, saying I held it open too long while moving my furniture. I happen to have met an elevator repair guy a couple days later, and he said that I couldn't have damaged the door that way; the door must have been configured incorrectly. The apartments were pretty nice, and the location was great. There's always something happening in Fremont. I met several neighbors, and they were cool. It's right on the bus line. There are a lot of great restaurants within walking distance. It's close to the Burke Gilman trail. It does get loud on the weekends, because there are bars next door and across the street. Then things changed... Some of the new people moving in were different. One woman was clearly drunk or high all the time, and wandered the halls yelling at people while her large dog was running around loose. I'm glad I moved. read more

Also, make sure you take an in person tour. Initially they sent me the photos that are in here but the unit looked nothing like them. The walls were stained yellow and there was dirt and leaves on the floor. The close door was detached from its hinges and there were hair clippings around the sink. To provide context, I lived in this building for two years. The building is in a great location, right in downtown Fremont with access to many bars, restaurants and other activities. If you don't feel like eating out there are two high quality grills on the roof along with a GREAT view (especially of the Olympic Mountains at sunset), cornhole boards and a gas fire pit if it gets chilly. The staff is the best I've experienced in Seattle. They are approachable, courteous and ensure that any issues are addressed within 24 hours. When it came to signing the lease, renewing the lease or moving out there were no issues at all (a first for me). The only negative I can think of is the elevator which does go out every once in a while. The building is only four stories so not though to take the stairs instead. This issue is out of the control of the building staff and they generally had someone out to repair within 24hrs. read more

I lived at the Vibe for 1 year with my husband in a 1 bedroom apartment. I chose this place because it was close to work (walking distance) and affordable compared to other options around this area. Rent was $1495/month + utilities for our 444 sq. ft. apartment (however, I think rent would've gone up $100 if we were to renew our lease). The bedroom is separated from the rest of the apartment by sliding glass walls. Overall, we really enjoyed living here. Our apartment was brand new, and everything worked great. The apartment came with a washer/dryer as well. I would say that one negative thing about living here is that there are limited parking spaces. There are only 16 reserved parking spaces for 64 units, so if you want a parking space (which costs another $195/month), you'll probably need to be on a waiting list. In the meantime, you need to get a parking permit from the city of Seattle. Street parking gets pretty full, especially at night since there are so many restaurants/bars around. Parking is also packed on Sundays for the Fremont farmer's market just down the street. Another thing that also surprised us was that towards the end of our lease, we had to make our apartment available for touring while we were still living there due to "high demand". I don't think our apartment ever ended up being toured, but that is just something to note. Other than those minor points, we enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was modern, clean, and well-maintained. In contrast to what some other reviewers have said, we enjoyed working with Jessica, although we never had anything major come up. read more

An outstanding location, excellent views, and beautiful units! I lived in this building for a year, while some friends of mine are currently renewing their lease for the third time. We love it! Over the course of my time at the Vibe, I can't help but feel that I've been spoiled for what will come after. Having to move out to be closer to my new job really is my biggest disappointment - the easy access to my favorite coffee joints, late-night pho, and convenient public transit really set the bar for my next place. Plus, perhaps my favorite part, the unit itself was really spectacular. Clean hardwood floors, a full tub, in unit washer/dryer, and even a dishwasher to boot, all for a really reasonable rate under the rent controlled standard. While all that was great, hands down the best part was the building staff. Late night emergency access, always working to keep us in the loop about updates to the building, and even getting us in on events in the area that the building was going to be connected with, like when the gym moved in downstairs. I really liked the building, but the initial building manager Jessica was completely unqualified for the job, how someone is unqualified to be an part time property manager don't ask me, but somehow she fit the bill. The new "manager" Amanda is also completely useless, I understand this is a part time job for most of these employees, but oh my gosh- be better. Luckily I really didn't have to deal with Amanda in person, UNFORTUNATELY, when we did have a move out inspection with her she didn't show up, not only that but I called her from outside her office, saw her phone ring... her look at it.. and ignore it lol. At that point we went BACK to our apartment and emailed her a few times. She finally responded the next day saying WE weren't there. Honestly I get that it's not that difficult of a job, so the people being hired aren't expected to exactly be the brightest light bulbs, but a little bit of ownership in their roles would go a long way. Always needing to talk to your manager to provide rudimentary answers is so annoying for tenants that are expecting their "property manager" to be able to communicate with them. Anyways, super cute place, you won't get any money back on your deposit at move out (but who does these days, the buildings are desperate for money), and you'll receive weekly emails about not smoking or how ANOTHER persons CAR or bike was stolen OUT of the "secure" parking garage. I had a wonderful experience living at Vibe. The apartment building has a perfect location for frequenting Fremont's many restaurants, cafes, and bars, while also being an easy car or bus ride into South Lake Union, University District or downtown Seattle. The apartments themselves are very clean, new, and very reasonably priced for the area. The rooftop area is beautiful as well, perfect for relaxing. The property manager, Amanda, is always incredibly accommodating and helpful. If I didn't need to move out of the city for work, I would have loved to continue living at Vibe. read more

Vibe is a new apartment building centrally located in the heart of Fremont, Seattle, WA. Jessica Atkinson our Property Manager conscientiously works to solve the issues that arise in a new building with new tenants. Jessica worked with me to address my health issue around reconfiguring my window so that my portable AC unit was installed using a plexiglass panel that Vibe provided. In addition she ensured my window screen was reinstalled for the cooler weather and also ensured the plexiglass panel would again be installed when the warmer weather returns. Moreover, Jessica continues to work with our Community Police Officer to consistently address the safety of residents entering and exiting our building. Jessica makes residents' safety her priority. Consequently my experience living at Vibe and working with Jessica and the Bona Vista Management Team a very positive experience. read more

DO NOT RENT HERE!!! I can't help but notice that they've had all negative reviews deleted from this web site. They can delete this one now, but it will be back. Here & anywhere else I can review. If you can't handle or don't want bad reviews, you should fix your own problems instead of silencing the public. This is such an overpriced & cheaply made building that can't keep tenants & has the worst management ever. I've met extremely few tenants who ever renewed their lease. I also find it very suspicious that in almost 2 years, they haven't been able to lease a retail/ restaurant space in a highly sought after location. Other business nearby had moved out, re-leased & reopened within months multiple times before we ever heard anything about potential tenants. Let's start with the beginning about being overpriced & cheaply made. We moved in because it was brand new with high hopes that it was made well, WRONG!!! The only quality building material used was the quartz for the countertops. Noise travels from surrounding units of all directions very easily. You can't wear shoes since you can feel the noise that you're making for your downstairs neighbor with every step. The flooring scratched WAY too easily & was extremely difficult to keep clean. And if you have a dog, be prepared to shell out of a lot of cash for rugs as your dog will slip & slide all over the place. The cabinets also feel like they were self assembled from target quality. It's also very poorly insulated. During the winter you have a high power bill trying to stay warm & in the summer it's cooler outside, even on 90 degree days. You're literally only paying for the location & not a nice place to call home. Moving on to management, this is is probably the largest reason why they can't keep tenants. When we moved in the Manager was great. She was personable, knowledgeable & more importantly she got shit done. After a few months we received an email about a new "Assistant Manager", who was THE WORST. She was obviously young & at the start of her career, I get that. But she was clearly unqualified for her job & failed to even act like she knew what she was doing. She also couldn't do anything without consulting with her higher ups...about anything. We often had to correct her on how to do her job when she didn't. She also failed to proof read emails to make sure they made sense. She also didn't care that most of them came off as condescending & that nothing was her problem to solve.To be honest, her and/or that position are highly disposable. On top of how incompetent she was, she never worked onsite & one time took over a month to notice that the compost hadn't been collected. We had also complained about our new upstairs neighbor keeping us awake for hours at time in the middle of the night. This included them letting us know where their bed was located. After talking to management & them buying the excuse that it was "laundry soap falling off the top of the dryer", the noise got worse. Finally, one night we knocked on their door at 3am after being awake for 2 hours with no answer. They then came down at 7:30 the following morning & attempted to lure us out of the building to assault us. We wouldn't let him so he decided to cause a scene in the hallway, with his foot in the door & loudly shouting false accusations about our personal lives. Property management didn't care. They're only solution was that we weren't allowed to contact each other which actually made things worse. These were tenants with clearly opposing schedules & out to make our lives miserable by being as loud as possible 24/7. We even spent a night in a hotel to escape it. Any additional noise complaints ended in management telling us to contact the police instead of them. They claimed to have been working on an "eviction notice" that can take "up to 6 months". That's bullshit considering that all tenants were threatened repeatedly to be served with 10 day notices for much smaller issues like smoking in the unit, dogs on the roof & more than 3 guests during the summer solstice. It's such a shame that breaking City of Seattle noise ordinances & attempting to pick a fight with your neighbors is tolerated. Eventually, we were allowed out of our lease & we were gone. But the story doesn't stop there. We had issues even after moving out, yet again, the assistant manager couldn't do her job correctly. Vibe has hands down been the best place I've lived. The units are excellent. Mine included a washer/dryer AND dishwasher (neither of which I've had in years). The property manager, Jessica, has always been professional, prompt and great to deal with. If I didn't move cross country for a job, I'd still be at Vibe today. Great location. Great apartments. i've been living here for a little over a month, and so far i've been really happy with this place. the apartments are laid out well, and the studios have a good amount of storage for the square footage. all 3 of the ladies who have been working in the office are really friendly, and most of the neighbors i've met are nice as well. there are a lot of small dogs here (no pet rent!), and it's so nice being in the heart of fremont where there are a lot of pet friendly businesses. there have been a few minor issues which i would say stem from it being a new complex, but that's kind of to be expected, so i don't think it would be right for me to give them a worse rating because of that (especially considering the ladies are quick to take care of things). the only other thing i would say to keep in mind is that if your unit is on the side facing the main street, there is some road noise you'll have to deal with, but it doesn't bother me much. i'd prefer to have the noise and get the great view that i have. one of my favorite things about my place is the floor to ceiling windows that allow my dog to watch the street activity while i'm away at work. i just moved to seattle and i'm really happy with my decision to move in here. :) ***UPDATED*** I figured I should update this, since my feelings on this place changed significantly after I posted it. I agree with the other people on here saying how management went downhill. The ladies that opened the complex and stayed for the first few months were so great. The woman who came in afterward had good and bad points to the way she managed things. I had someone go to management complaining that my dog was crying before ever approaching me about it, and the e-mail I received from her said she had "notices" of "residents" and "units" around me that came to her and had left notes on my door (I never received said notes), but then when I went to her about it she said it was one person in one unit. There was also a guy that came in to the office from time to time who was absolutely useless. If you needed anything from him he just got super confused. Over the last few months I was there, it seemed like they were cracking down on making a bunch of rules (i.e. no dogs on the roof), most of which people weren't responding well to. Also thought I'd point out that management responded to someone else with complaints with a lovely passive aggressive suggestion that apartment living isn't for him because they snooped through his other reviews. The one really bad thing you really should take note of is the heat in the summer if you are in one of the south facing units (facing the main street). It is absolutely unbearable. I was on the 3rd floor, and having an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows, of which only one small one will open a few inches made my studio miserable. It was hotter in my apartment than it was outside (I'm talking 85-87 degrees some days), even with 3 fans running at all times. You won't be able to have a window AC with the way the windows are, so I'm telling you ...if you rent one of those units, you need to get one of those portable AC's (which are not cheap) and maybe some blackout curtains, or you'll never want to be home. It was the biggest source of conversation between me and my neighbors in the elevator throughout the summer, and my main reason for moving out. The other reason I moved out was because the already very expensive rent went up if I wanted to renew my lease ($50/month for a year lease, $100/month for 6 months or more). When I asked the manager if she would be able to give me a good tenant reference for my next apartment, she wouldn't give me a straight answer because I was "late on my rent once", something that I didn't even remember happening at all. I also did experience what the other people said about them making appointments while I lived there to allow people to tour my unit. I didn't have a lot of say in when the appointments were, but I didn't have to leave when they happened (I believe there were 2 of them). I do for the most part disagree with the person saying the apartments were cheaply made ...everything except for the floors seemed decent quality. The part about them scratching really easily is something I experienced, too- avoid moving any furniture around without lifting it. Anyway, the location is great, the units themselves are great. If you can deal with the summer heat and high rent, it's not the worst place, but there is room for improvement. read more

I lived at the Vibe for a year and moved in when the building opened. There is a retail space on the ground floor which has been unoccupied since the building opened and parking was a lofty $175/month. The room was great and we had a positive move in experience with the property manager at the time. She was welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Halfway through the property manager changed to a new, assistant property manager and service immediately declined. We frequently received negative and harping emails such as the ones below along with the emails being printed and posted to everyone's doors. Service became unfriendly and we became a number instead of a resident. When it was time to renew our lease, rent was increased drastically, and when we talked to a neighbor theirs was not. We brought this up to the assistant property manager and she said she had made a "mistake" on the other tenants'. This is extremely unprofessional to make that type of error which would've cost us a lot of money. We have moved apartment buildings and were charged outrageous fees which ended up costing above our security deposit. I will not reside in another Bonavista apartment again. Email quotes: "I have noticed over the last few weeks that the rooftop furniture has been moved around a lot, and left in a disorderly fashion." "Please use non chemical cleaners on surfaces, such as counter tops, toilets, bathtub, and floors. We have found out from other residents that using products such as cleaners like 409 can do significant damage. To avoid this please use a non-chemical cleaner such a Mrs. Meyers, or other all natural cleaners. Not only does this prevent damage, but it is better for the environment.  Anything that is damaged the resident is responsible for replacing." Regarding Fourth of July: "If you are having guests over for the weekend, keep the guest limit to 3 people maximum." and "ABSOLUTLEY NO PETS ON ROOFTOP: 10 DAY NOTICES WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO DON'T COMPLY" Regarding Solstice: "Please keep your guests at a minimum of 3 and be aware that we can and will ask anyone to leave if the crowd gets out of control." "As we know, Corn Hole is a game that everyone wants to enjoy during these beautiful summer days. We ask to please refrain from moving the Corn Hole from where it is now place because of the noise that is caused for the tenants who live below it. It is to remain on the East side of the rooftop next to the elevator lobby. The bean bags seem to be missing as well, if someone has misplaced them, we ask that you please return them to the rooftop." read more
