I rushed to shut off the water, then call Walker & Sons as soon as I could. They didn't pick up at first, but called me back near immediately and tried to wedge me into the schedule for the evening. Keep in mind, this is the day before Christmas Eve...about an hour later, Shawn showed up and saved the day. To make it easier for him, I cut into the wall and removed the badly welded part, and he put a cap on the pipe for me until I could figure out my next steps. Seriously - thank you so much. I could use my water again, my house can stay warm over the next few days (uses copper lines in the walls), and my wife won't kill me. Plus, they were so kind and didn't charge me an after hours fee. I called him on a Monday and spoke to him about possible resolutions to my plumbing issue. We decided that Thursday morning between 9-9:30am would be the perfect time for him to stop by and inspect my issue. I remember that I specifically asked him if I needed to call him back to confirm my appointment with him later that day. He said, "no, I have you on my calendar, but if their is a problem, I will call you back." I thanked him and told him I'll see him Thursday. Well, Thursday rolls around and I didn't hear from, nor did I see Mr. Jackson. Extremely unprofessional! I worked from home that day, so thank God I didn't have to take off, but it was still an inconvenience. Why on earth is it so hard to find honest, competent and reliable plumbers? This is a give and take situation. I pay for a service, you fix the problem...plain and simple. I wasn't asking to fix the problem for free, I was a paying customer! Moreover, if he wasn't available, a simple call to reschedule would've been the proper thing to do. Two weeks to the day and I still haven't heard back from this company. Horrible customer service! Take it from me and don't even bother contacting this company. My sister suggested that I call him back, but I refused because it's plenty of plumbers in the area that are willing and able to assist me. I had a Fairfax County inspector come in to see what had been done so far. It failed. The inspector asked if I was sure the person who did the work had been licensed. Some places he had used too small a cable, other cables went back and forth between boxes, and in some places he'd put three lines where only two should go. I hired a new company and they also asked if a licensed electrician had done the work they were so incredulous. It's cost me almost $5,000 to redo the poor work City Lights had done. And then I found out that when he pulled our meter in April he had put it back in UPSIDE DOWN. We have an old meter so it will let power flow while upside down but will not register any use. As a result Dominion thought we were trying to steal electricity and pulled the meter without warning. It took me hours of phone calls, the intervention of our new electricians, and $1500 in cash to get our meter restored. Of course that left a black mark on our credit report. This was to date the single worst experience I'd even had with a contractor. And yes, I have photos and documentation.
