Previously I had reported that Vic's was charging $26.50 for a Coach Randel, aka the BLAT. I checked their menu on a whim today and it is now priced at 16.50. Perhaps it was a typo on their website. In any case, $16.50 is more in line with other local restaurants. I am revising my review accordingly. Incidentally, their BLAT is good, featuring crispy bacon and fresh ingredients. Not sure what happened to my original review, some just seem to disappear... Anyhoo; Great lil local diner at the beginning or end of Main street depending on which direction you're going, it is closer to Bernal. Over the years we have eaten many a breakfast & lunch here. Humongous menu serves many palates they have the usual pancakes, sandwiches & salads... But, they also serve a few delicious Mexican meals and other wonderful sounding dishes and soups. They built an adorable patio in front of the restaurant in the parking lot, one of the cutest ones I've seen lots of plants and pet friendly seating. My husband is a Club sandwich fanatic and loves to try them out as a litmus test to a diner LOVES the one served here. I have actually never regretted anything I have ordered here I always enjoy a delicious meal here. I have always loved the local vibe here its family owned and staff has been here forever and the hire the local teenagers to help. They support all the schools and other business's. I came here for a business group meeting that was held in a quaint, separate room of the restaurant. They had coffee set up for us inside the room so we could all help ourselves. We then broke for lunch. I do not know what is on their typical menu because we had a lunch buffet that was set up in the hallway area right outside of the separate room. I had the green salad, the potato salad, chicken salad sandwich on soft bread (they had other sandwiches on different breads), and desserts. The food was tasty and filling. Service was fine. I ordered for breakfast a Vic's Special with Country Potatoes. The Vic Special had eggs, spinach, ground beef and onions. I requested light spinach and received a lot. Perfect spot for outdoor seating...... and I was so lucky it was such a nice day when I went there. We order house coffee&Oatmilk Latte followed by my crab cake Benedict, chilaquiles and raspberry crepes for share..... Crab cake Benedict was good and poached eggs were perfectly cook just the way it was supposed to be and I love the runny yolk. Crab cake might be a bit fishy for those who are not big fan of seafood. Chilaquiles was not the authentic Mexican style chilaquiles because the sauce tasted like curry instead but the taste was not bad while raspberry crepe was awesome!!!! I didn't have to spread butter or syrup on them at all. It's raspberry sauce had enough sweetness. Service was attentive and nice. Definitely going back to enjoy the rest of their menus and their outdoor seating as well Not to mention, you can take a walk along Main Street after enjoying your meals. Beautiful outdoor seating with big umbrellas. Impeccable service and large portions. Everything tastes great here, and there's something for everyone, from the most healthy egg white scrambles with fresh fruits to chorizo and corn beef hash! I love the spin where dishes are named after the past coaches who favored them. Lots of nostalgia and love for Pleasanton - I hope this place never goes away! They've adapted well to covid. Ample outdoor seating (I'm attaching a picture) under big umbrellas and non-contact non-sharing of condiments. The waiter dispenses creamer, sugar, and jam that you request from a container that they keep, and hot sauces in little disposable containers, so that there's no contamination. Bad Food Bad Service!! Watch out vegetarians!!! We asked for spare plates so we could share food and wet dirty plates with food were given to us. When I asked the waiter to replace these dirty dishes he said it would take a while!! Also i was specific when ordering chilaquiles to put the chorizo on the side. The waiter gave me some chorizo on the side but did not tell us the red sauce was laden with chorizo. He then claimed it was written clearly on the menu and no... the menu does NOT say this... Its only when i asked for a manager and demanded a replacement item did the waiter quickly get me new item in less than 2 minutes I for one will not go back. We found this place for breakfast and it was a sports coach themed diner. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was pretty good. Traditionally chicken and waffles, usually the chicken has bones in it but these were tenders. It was a little bit disappointing but overall had good flavor. The service was pretty good as well, but they didn't check in on us that often. The ambience was into my liking. It was a little too casual for brunch. I used to really enjoy coming to Vic's all stars and now it is even better since it was taken over by new management. I went there with a big party (8 people). The service was quick and the food was so good. They added to the menu and revitalized the location with new colors and an upgrade. Today it was a no brainer as where we should be going to brunch. Our friendly waiter David is taking care of us. Did I mention that the service is as good as the food and that the food is delicious? I ran into the owner, who is both kind and personable. I'm a local and been to Vic's a few times. I really wish I could say otherwise, but it's just too challenging going here. Breakfast order has been wrong numerous times and getting it corrected is just a hassle. Food was undercooked and when I told our waitress, they took my entire plate to show the cooks. So I sat and watched my family eat their entire meal until my food was brought back out. Our waitress, both times, was very nice but clearly wasn't able to assist.. The owner came by and checked on us and was not aware of our undercooked food. He did ask why my plate was still full, while others were done and ask I started to explain, the waitress ran over and interrupted... For the prices, Bill's makes WAY more sense. Quality just isn't there to spend over $60 for breakfast for two adults and a 3 year old. read more

Took my mother in law out to lunch at Vic's for her 90th birthday. We arrived slightly before lunchtime closing, but there was no pressure to "wrap things up". We had all been there before, but it had been a while. Our waiter was could not have been more warm and friendly and took good care of us. The food was simply awesome. The waiter and manager served my mother in law a birthday treat on the house and sang "Happy Birthday". Everyone in our party left the meal saying they really enjoyed themselves. I've been wanting to try Vic's for a long time. I'm a Pleasanton resident and I have read great things about the place. So I finally tried it yesterday for breakfast. As the two stars already indicate, I was not impressed. I had my heart set on chilaquiles before I even went there. I love chilaquiles and there is a whole Mexican-themed breakfast section at Vic's. They were really disappointing. Light on salsa and flavor. I asked for hot sauce or salsa and was offered Tabasco, Tapatio, or Cholula. None of these would have been my choice. Why not a house salsa? Vic's has street tacos??? How about something spicy and fresh instead of bottled from the grocery store? More of the green salsa that is already on the chilaquiles would have been good. The best thing on the plate was the hash browns. Perhaps my expectations were off going into things. Maybe I should have stuck to traditional breakfast fare. My kids had a waffle and french toast which they thoroughly enjoyed. Their plates were empty, which is a rarity for them. Service was blah. We were greeted and escorted quickly, but the host asked what we wanted to drink before we were even seated. I had no idea that they had asked a question until I sat down and the host was standing there staring at us and I had to ask what was awaited. Our server came by shortly after that but after verifying that our drink order was taken, they disappeared and didn't return until an inordinate amount of time later. Our food arrived in an appropriate amount of time. Things got weird when our plates had been cleared and we were ready for the check...our server was nowhere to be found. Other tables did not seem to be having this issue. At least the coffee refill person was making rounds. To top it off, I had a gift card to use from the local downtown association, of which Vic's a member. However, our server informed us that the restaurant was unable to process the card since a recent change in ownership??? Weird since I didn't think there was a recent change. I could be wrong. Either way, the restaurant is a member and the card should have been honored even if it meant getting a member of management to handle it. Lastly, and this one was just weird, I observed an "elevated tone" discussion between a customer and their server. Shortly thereafter, the server came back to the table and produced what seemed to be their own wallet, and proceeded to put money on the table. I don't know the details, but if there was an error on the check, there should have been a correction with management, not by someone paying out of their own pocket to a customer. read more

I had never been here before. The reviews looked pretty good so we tried it. It was Sunday August 11th. Arrived at approximately 9:38 We were promptly and kindly received, seated outside and we received a very nice shaded corner table under the delightful boughs of a magnolia tree and other verdant vines and plants. The music was elegant soft jazz which created a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. The food was exquisite. I almost cried. I will never ever forget that breakfast. I ordered the Toni Peel. It is an eggs Benedict. It has chorizo patties instead of Canadian Bacon. The Hollandaise sauce was homemade with cilantro added. The country potatoes were perfect. Gently and thoroughly cooked with nice small sauteed red pepper pieces. Aaahhh. Then we also had ordered a side of the caramelized banana pancakes. These were so good I couldn't decide whether l wanted to embrace the owner or rip off my clothes and run down the street. Am updating this review one last time. I didn't mean to be a Karen about this. I truly gave them multiple chances to make my order the way I asked / the way it is advertised on their menu. I mean I paid $15 for a single pancake, a cup of coffee, and tip. It doesn't have to come from God himself but I just wanted it to be like.. NORMAL. Anyway I called that same day after the final straw, I asked for a refund. The business owner invited me to come in the next morning and allow them to remake it. I accepted it over my money back. They gave me a stack of two pancakes with very present chocolate chips and bananas on top finally. He told me they had new people in the kitchen and needed more training. I can understand that. He was a very polite and kind man and was quite apologetic. This updated review is meant to encourage others to allow the manager to work things out in your favor. Am really appreciative that the business owner displayed accountability and wanted to make it right with me, a customer. It definitely makes me feel more confident about ordering here again. We went for brunch with our kids. We were seated quickly but it took quite a while for someone to offer us a beverage or take our order. My husband and I both got the chilaquiles. It's one of our favorite breakfast dishes and we order it regularly from restaurants in the area. My children got fresh-squeezed orange juice and typical kid breakfasts. One had french toast and the other had pancakes and eggs. We had mixed reviews about our food. My children loved their breakfast and the orange juice. My husband and I were not at all impressed with the chilaquiles. They were dry and bland. I had a side of potatoes and they were nothing more than cooked potato and completely lacking in seasoning. Overall, it was a disappointing meal for the price. We won't be returning. read more

Heard about this place a lot, probably as it seems like a big hangout spot for weekends. It's always crowded, that is great I presume, but I don't know if it's really for their food. It could be but I definitely liked some other places in the area far more for their flavors and quality. First thing I want to point out is this was a pick up order, we had pancakes and waffles too along with some other items (omelette, chicke tenders) but that was it, we didn't get anything else to go? Probably the place is not made for Take outs? I had also asked for bananas but that was missing. The omelette had no salt, the potatoes in it had no salt. The chicken tenders were okay, and the Strawberry waffle comes with Rosemary. I had ordered it so I could try what this will end up tasting, and yes, it tastes really weird. It came on multi seeded bread and a cream cheese spread. This was a first for me but I did enjoy the flavor of the salmon, poached egg, capers, arugula, avocado and cream cheese. I will say this is one of the tastiest avocado toasts I've ever had. It came with two pieces of which I only was able to finish one. The country potatoes did not impress maybe next time I'll go with hash browns or fruit. We also shared a plate of French toast. It came with a caramel sauce that was a nice surprise. My wife and I look for places to eat every weekend. We got lucky with this place. We were greeted by a nice young lady and sat us right away. We sat down and I immediately noticed the music in the background, easy to listen to and not too loud, perfect for carrying out a conversation. We ordered drinks and almost immediately after the server left we got our drinks. We ordered our food and to my surprise the owner came out to greet us. Great conversationalist he also brought us a taste of the chile rojo that was delicious. Great contrast to the chile verde I had ordered, which was super good. My wife's chicken feta and balsamic salad was as good or better than what I make for my girl at home. I can't say enough praises for this restaurant. OH! And the churros are to die for!!! Man!! Visited Livermore for some fresh air during this pandemic and came across this restaurant while searching for a bathroom. The lady that works there was very friendly!! I felt very thankful for her accommodation while I was there. I ordered a Club Sandwich w fries. It didn't take long to make. I waited outside for social distancing. A few minutes later she came out with my order and I thanked you. When we got down the street I noticed the bag felt a little heavy, I thought it was the container but to my surprise she gave me a souvenir mug. That was very sweet of her. Turkey club sandwich: I always order a Turkey club where ever I go and by far this is the best I've had. Very generous portions of everything, not 1-2 slices of thin turkey restaurants usually serve. The vegetables were fresh and crisp! The bread was toasted perfectly, not too much where it will fall apart and not too soft. 5 stars for their sandwich. The fries was crispy just the way I love it. Restaurant: it was very clean. We are in a shelter in place but the place was very clean. Safe with the clear shield and they provide hand sanitizer at the entry. When we pass through this way, we'll make sure to drop by again for lunch. It is always nice to find a place where the people who serves you are very nice and accommodating. I get that most restaurants have and still are suffering from effects of the pandemic but a little more attention from the kitchen and runners/servers would go a long way. Brought out the wrong dish at first When the right dish was brought out it states it came with sausage AND bacon and only got the bacon, when we asked for the sausage she charged it on our bill Smoked salmon Benedict was supposed to come with capers and dill and had neither, the hollandaise was also separated.. Ick All dishes were lukewarm I worked at a restaurant for over 8 years and was one of the managers and I would have been so embarrassed to have had to serve my table with how many mistakes there were. The runners/servers should be more attentive to what the menu says and how the dishes are coming out before they bring them to the table. I would have rather waited longer and gotten everything correctly and hot. Not everything was horrible which is why I gave them two stars instead of one.
