We finally made it to Vic's! It lived up to all I've heard. I have never heard anything bad about this place. We made a reservation for 7pm and as I pulled into the parking lot I thought we would have to wait. I was wrong we walked in and gave our name and within 3 minutes we headed to a great booth. Our waitress was very attentive and did a great job. We had Calamari for an appetizer with both dipping sauces. It was delicious. She had a cup of cheddar and broccoli soup and Lobster Ravioli. I had minestrone soup to start and Eggplant parmigiana for my dinner. All was delicious. Don't hesitate to dine here the food is great, the service is great and so is the atmosphere. Vic's is a gem! It's a small Italian restaurant that is truly outstanding. When my party walked into the restaurant this evening, we were promptly greeted and we exchanged some friendly and fun banter with man who had greeted us. After being seated, it was all about excellent food, drinks, and service. Vic's menu is really special. You just don't see this kind of authentic Italian food on many menus these days. We started with cocktails. They were a perfect opener. We were served fresh bread as well as garlic bread. Of course, the bread was delicious. All of us ordered Caesar salads, which were also delicious. From the Filet Marsala to a "Pasta Trio" of cannoli, fettuccine Alfredo, and lasagna, all of our entrees were superb. The steaks were cooked to order...and were so tender they could be cut with a butter knife. The dessert tray was amazing. All of us had cannolis. Just like everything else, they were excellent. Vic's will be the first restaurant I visit every time I come back to the Detroit area. I HIGHLY recommend it. read more

Chose Vic's Casual Dining for our Anniversary, it did not disappoint. Called for our reservation, walked in and greeted and taken to a nice cozy booth. Our waitress approached us, told us the nightly specials and delivered our drinks. We ordered the Calamari appetizer with warm white wine and butter dipping sauce. Excellent and cooked perfectly, steak cut, no rings, yum! We both chose Minestrone soup, very tasty and we also received a bread and butter basket with a cup of marinara sauce. Our dinner came in a timely fashion, I ordered my favorite, Chicken Francese, I ordered garlic mash potatoes instead of pasta. Chicken was fork tender and the lemon butter sauce was light and delicious, mash potatoes were so good, I loved my dinner. Husband ordered Chicken Tosca with pasta and meat sauce, he was very pleased. Our waitress took good care of us! They offer a dessert tray and we took home a delicious piece of cheesecake with fruit inside. Great Anniversary dinner and Vic's made it happen. Give Vic's a try, excellent food, reasonably priced! I've been going to Vic's for 30 years when they were first a Salvatore Scallopini. Same owner. The food has NEVER disappointed. The only problem I have is that they've been discovered and it's harder to get a table!!! A good problem to have. Here are my recommendations: Chicken Francese, any of the salmon dishes (there are 3 and all are amazing), Chicken Tosca and Chicken Parm if you're looking for a classic. And if you can't get a table or don't feel like going out, they are rock solid on their takeout. Like they actually take the time to ensure you have everything you need down to individual servings of fresh parm. Small restaurant where you see the tiny kitchen but charming with great service. Tasty! We came for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. Great food and service. It's very mom and pop. Somewhat dated style wise but in a charming way. We were seated right away, and our friendly server had us set with drinks and bread in a flash. Speaking of the bread, they have a container of cold tomato, basil, and garlic bruschetta type spread that they bring out that was amazing! I want a jar of that to go. My husband loved his piping hot chicken noodle soup, and I was very happy indeed with a house salad topped with creamy Romano. Perfect dressing. Not too cheesy or floppy, just delicious. For mains, he chose the Trio. Respectable rendition fettuccine Alfredo, fantastic lasagne and out of this world canneloni. He was impressed. Huge portions of each. He took some home and said it reheated nicely. I went with the special of the night, which was similar to the chicken francese on the menu but was topped with melty mozzarella. Holy gigantic portion of two huge breasts. The lemon garlic and white wine make a great sauce. So addictive! I also packed half up and took it and my spaghetti marinara side to go. We saved room wisely. Their dessert tray is impressive. So much variety and the variety itself all looked amazing. I chose the lemon berry marscapone cake, and the hubs selected the strawberry crunch cake. Both are great. The strawberry crunch was light and airy, and the marscapone cake was denser and a more sinful treat. So good! We got to go for the parents. Rack of pork and tutto di mare respectively. Both were given the thumbs up. They also quite enjoyed their app of garlic bread with tomatoes and melted cheese. We will return. read more

My friend and I decided to try Vic's, after finding them on Yelp. It was our first visit and OMG!!!! The staff was awesome, the food was amazing; and the atmosphere was filled with positivity! Other customers seated near us were very friendly. We shared how much we enjoyed our appetizer, the calamari...which was FANTASTIC by the way, d aaa o they ordered it also. THEY LOVED IT TOO! My meal included...calamari (appetizer), Caesar salad (homemade dressing to die for), and cannelloni!! Every single thing was INCREDIBLE! My family raved about this place but I had never been before. When we arrived I was surprised and appalled by the attitudes of the hostess and one waitress in particular. They were supposedly upset that we were a party of 9 (with 4 kids mind you). They made us feel like we were an inconvenience and in the way making little comments "we are a very busy restaurant" I am truly confused by the audacity and the reason behind being upset by us being there. Is there a policy that we are unaware of-if that's the case then state that and let us know you don't accommodate parties over a certain size. This was my first time there and the last. And it's a shame because our bill was $300. Our actual waitress was lovely and the food came out fast and was good-so what was the issue? read more

This place was a hit! We arrived at 5:00 pm, and we were seated by 5:15 pm even though it looked to be pretty busy. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate - almost like an Italian train car. Our waitress was very prompt and attentive. We got fresh bread with a delicious marinara, and our salads/coleslaw were out within 5 minutes (both were delicious). Our entrees (fettuccine Alfredo, lobster ravioli, and pork chops) were out 15 minutes later and all were very generous portions and tasty. We were in Detroit for Labor Day weekend and wanted good Italian and saw how highly recommended it was, and we were hooked. Our server, Jennifer, was a gem and so helpful with recommendations. We managed to get a seat on the patio as we didn't have a reservation. However, everyone was so nice to work on getting a table for us. We enjoyed two appetizers-Oyster Rockefeller and Bruschetta Pomodoro. Our entrees were delicious from the Shrimp Scampi over angel hair and green beans, Rack of Pork (2 pork chops), and the Pasta Mezzagiorno. We didn't have room for dessert, but the tray looked insanely good. I wish we had! When you first walk in there is alot to look at, it looks like a 1950s fancy diner, so it really has a real good look to it, the music they play is Frank Sinatra, and other soft music really good atmosphere, the place does get packed so if you are gonna go, go early. We ordered th Fried Raviolis and they were amazing, I took a picture of one but I almost ate them all before I remembered to get the photo. I then had the spaghetti with Marinara sauce and the spaghetti is comparable to better Italian places around the area, there spaghetti was really good, the sauce had great flavors and the noodles were quite thick. This is a place u can bring a date, take the wife out for fine dining or just to get some really phenomenal food. I will definitely come back for he steak because my girlfriend said the steak was so nice and tender that she dont think it could have gotten anymore perfect. read more

Couldn't even get a nice enough person on the phone to talk to even experience this place and it's a shame. I called on Valentine's Day to see if they were still taking reservations or if they had a wait so that we could wait for a table and the lady on the phone was just about the rudest stranger I've ever talked to. 1st off, if the owner or manager is seeing this, I called around 6:30, so maybe look back at what staff you had answering the phone because the literally deserve to be fired. It is absolutely horrendous to call a restaurant and not want to even show up, just because of the customer service that I had on the phone. I hope that they get rid of this person quickly because they lost me as a customer and I'm sure several other people as well. DISAPPOINTED read more

Excellent food! Excellent service! This is a restaurant for which I am surprised that I have never visited until today. To say our dinner was outstanding is an understatement. I had the veal marsala with garlic mashed potatoes - excellent, tender veal and excellent garlic mashed potatoes that had a "kiss" of garlic yet not overpowering. My wife had the pasta fresca - spinach, roma tomatoes, red onions, garbanzo beans, sweet peas, and diced fresh mozzarella tossed with penne pasta in olive oil, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. She said her meal was excellent I had the salad to start with the creamy Romano dressing - one of the best salad dressing that I ever had. My wife started with the minestrone soup and said it was excellent. We topped off the evening with a slice of lemon cream cake which was also excellent. Extremely clean restaurant with excellent service. They truly care about their clientele. Cannot wait to go back. And I will do so soon. Such a good, family restaurant if you want a delicious home cooked meal. Service is good and the place was fairly busy when we went, always a good sign. One of my fav dishes is Eggplant Parmesan and Vic's Casual Dining in makes it well! Good sauce to eggplant ratio and a ton of cheese. Served with a side of pasta. Vic's is a great spot for traditional Italian food and good service. Plus, they have a patio which we didn't opt for this time, but I'm definitely checking out on my next visit. read more

Best Italian restaurant in Michigan (or at least that I've been too). Fresh made, nothing stale and old here. Prices are same or better than Olive Garden and Carrabba's and the food is FAR SUPERIOR. Favorite dishes Eggplant Parm, Chicken Parm and the BBQ Ribs, yes their ribs are as good as any I've had at any BBQ House. Great Job by Vic and staff. read more
