Finally had a chance to visit the newly renovated Vic's. Same great ice cream. It sure did hit the spot on a warm night. The interior appears to be the same. The service was good but it was a bit confusing which line to stand in for dining in or to go even though there were signs. No one really greeted nor acknowledged us as we stood in the "dine-in" line. So we finally asked.

TLDR: Amazing ice cream, with generous scoops, really friendly, personable staff and additional food options for those who don't believe ice cream is an appetizer. The rest of the story: I heard about this place in a Facebook group and since I'm somewhat of an ice cream snob, I knew I had to check it out. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place had a fair number of customers. Bottom line, this place has amazing ice cream! It's soooo smooth! Not just the consistency, the flavors are well balanced but very prominent. I tried the cherry amaretto and was immediately hooked! Even the peppermint was smoother than others I have had. Deducting one star because the floor was really dirty.

Vic's isn't my regular stop for ice cream, but wanted to come by and support after their reopening. Sadly, their online menu doesn't align with their in store menu. It was especially disappointing because my husband's favorite flavor as a child was listed online, but they no longer have it. (I hope they update what they have online ASAP.) I ended up just getting a scoop in a cup of Cookies & Cream. I could tell they aren't using high cream / fat content, so the creaminess isn't as there as much as I'd prefer it to be. Would stop by when in the area, but it's not a place I'd make a point to be a destination personally. Service was fine when I visited.

Ice cream and coffee were both great! The drip was strong, but I like it like that. Service was great! Old school ice cream shop was very cute. It was busy which attests to how good it was.

Glad to see Vic's is back and open again after a few years hiatus. I waited a few weeks after they officially reopened so the lines weren't as long. I went here on a weekend night about 20 minute before closing and waited about 10 minutes before I got to order. I got the cookies and cream and chocolate chip cookie dough. Ice cream is still as good as always and customer service was great. Inside still looks the same as before. There are booths you can sit and eat at or do counter seating. Will definitely be back.

Got an egg salad sandwich that comes with chips and didn't eat it until I got home. I mainly had bread and lettuce with a hint of egg salad. With this being my first time, I anticipated just something a little thicker.. tried the ice cream for the first time as well, and that was delicious enough for us to have bought two half gallons for home. I typically don't complain and am not trying to. Just a little sad as every other egg sandwich I've gotten has been almost triple the size if not double. Overall customer service was great. Willing to return for ice cream.

DINE IN :) Sunday afternoon at 330pm I would like to start with the positive :) Hubby and I shared the banana split- vanilla, coffee, rocky road and each one was just yummy. Even the husband said it's better than another ice-cream spot we have gone to. They were out of whipped cream which was a little disappointing :( The staff crew was friendly and attentive, our host (male) was super nice. What could have earned the 5th star?? I'm not a fan when a staff has to do multiple duties. I watched a young lady jump from cleaning a table, grabbing a wet towel from a red bucket to wipe the tables and counter, puts the towel back into the red bucket then goes to the ice-cream area to help the next customer without washing her hand. Now I understand that it was really busy and it may have just slipped her mind but then I watched another person make a sandwich - No gloves - to washing the dishes in the sink to then cleaning a counter of dirty dishes to attending to another customer. Made me wonder what she was doing before she made the sandwich and scooped a handful with bare hands of chips from the Ruffles bag that I watched her do. Clean duties and dirty duties shouldn't mix without proper handwashing in between or if possible, avoid all together. I would suggest that one person should be assigned the cleaning and not cross over to handle food. Hope the owner/manager sees this and approach my review with grace for I mentioned it with grace and make adjustments. To end on a good note because overall really enjoyed our visit and understand this establishment has newly re-opened with new staff is that this restaurant is located in a neighborhood and is more likely going to be if not already loved by the locals. I can see this restaurant serving many happy customer for many years to come. Note: there's a coffee shop next door owned by the same owner :) Cute spot too Thank you

Vic's has changed a lot over the years and it is not the same as it used to be. The flavors are different as they have less flavors than before. The interior is updated but retained a similar design. The ice cream didn't taste as creamy as it used to be. The scoops also appear to be smaller than before. I ordered a kiddie scoop of Cookies and Cream and it was tasty, however lacked the creaminess of a high quality ice cream. Service was adequate as the employees were friendly. I used to come here often growing up and was disappointed that changes were made that lowered the quality of the business.

Vic's Ice Cream in Sacramento is a classic for a reason. The service was fast and super friendly, and the whole place has this nice old-school vibe that feels nostalgic in the best way. And the ice cream?? SO good. I got the coffee flavor and it was rich, creamy, and basically tasted like my caffeine addiction in dessert form. If you're in Sac and want a sweet treat, Vic's is a must. I'll definitely be back!

I was really excited to see that Vic's was open again, so I sent my boyfriend to grab me a banana milkshake. When I took the first sip, it tasted a little off. He mentioned that the bananas they had looked brown on the outside but wasn't sure what the inside looked like since he didn't watch the drink he made. I tried a few more sips, but it definitely didn't taste right, so I stopped drinking it. When I poured it out, I could see that the bananas looked old or possibly rotten. He also mentioned that the girl who took the order was the same one who made the milkshake and that she looked pretty frantic, probably because it was busy. I'm hoping this was just an off moment and that next time I go, I'll have a better experience.

    Ready and friendly service.

Open 3 days and still smiling and thriving. Had to come support their re-opening. One hour before closing, there was still a line to the door, and still a few flavors on hand. BRAVO! Personal preference is for smaller chocolate chips, but flavor and creaminess are on point. Neighborhood favorite for a reason. Congrats on continuing the legacy.

Welcome back, Vic's! After more than a year closure due to a change of ownership and much-needed renovations, Vic's Ice Cream reopened to long lines of happy community members, even in spite of the rain. I arrived at 10:30am for an 11am grand reopening and there was already a line. People were reminiscing and looking forward to having Vic's ice cream again. It became a sort of community reunion as people saw those that they hadn't seen in a while at this community hub. By 12:30pm, I had ice cream in hand (a mini scoop of mint chip and a kiddie double scoop of Muddy Mocha & Pecan Praline) and it was delicious! It was definitely worth the wait. Here's a bit of info: a kiddie double is 2 mini scoops. For me, it is just enough for me to get two great flavors. It was a great time and I know I'm not the only one that is glad to have Vic's back as well as their café next-door, now dubbed Brew Bird. I look forward to many more years of hang outs and community gatherings here.

Response from the owner. Don't support this trash.

Rebecca cutting the line off and then letting additional people into the line but refused us. Horrible customer service. Rebecca needs to be fired and we won't be back. UPDATED - Response from the owner. Do not support this business. I will also be contacting the Sac Bee & KCRA so they are aware how the owners respond to customers.

Parking is a little bit hard to find, since you're mostly looking for street parking. Upon entering, the FroYo place had a nice interior that reminded me of a modern casual design with some contemporary elements that created a playful atmosphere. There were some high chair seatings to the right, and some lounge chairs to the left Unfortunately, by the time I came in, they were not allowing us to sample any of the 6 flavors which was a bummer (New York cheesecake, cappuccino, cable car chocolate, vanilla, pomegranate raspberry or euro tart). The flavors are pretty limited, so if you're looking for a place with a wider assortment of flavors, I might recommend somewhere else. However, the toppings bar was nicely stocked with a bunch of different things to choose from, which was one of its saving graces. Once you're done, you weigh your FroYo at the counter. I would've given a solid 4 stars to this place; however, while we were eating the FroYo, the man who was working decided to go into the back of his shop and listen to his shows rather loudly. I could hear the sounds from the shows over the music they were playing, so it made the ambiance a little awkward since I wasn't able to vibe to the music. Thus, creating a rather rambunctious atmosphere. Overall, I do think this place has some room for improvements, especially with their flavor profiles.
