so good I've played at riviera and pebble beach but they don't stand a chance to how great Victoria golf course is. it was so well managed and the fait ways were perfectly green and soft. my only problem with it is there's not enough sand. Neat spot to practice for sure. Wish it had some coverage cause it gets hot but overall experience was great. As you enter it's well kept and clean. The Guy who helped us out inside to pay for our bucket of Balls could have been a bit more welcoming in my defense. He just had no emotion and just handed us our slip to go grab our balls. A smile would have been nice or better customer service. Place was reasonable and close to home. There was a lot of parking space so that wasn't a problem. But overall great place to come practice and come hang with friends. read more

DO NOT play here expecting a regular golf course. There's a reason why it's so cheap, yet you can get a tee time pretty much whenever you like. You need to have the proper expectations. If you're reading reviews, you're off to a good start. Grass has somehow become increasingly sparse on this course. As others said, the tee boxes and greens are fine. The last five holes are actually in decent shape. When I played a few weeks ago, the sand traps were bare, but I noticed that last week there was quite a bit of sand. Kudos! Why have I started playing here again? Like I said, it's cheap and there are plenty of tee times available. And because so few people actually play the course, pace of play is fantastic. Playing solo, I finished in just over 2 hours, although I did have to skip finishing a few holes in order to bypass other groups. And did I mention it's cheap? Between being a weekday, the Hot Deal on the GolfNow app, and a tee time credit from GolfPass+, I paid $15 (cart included). I'm just getting back into playing courses, so this is perfect practice for me. read more

I recently played a round here after usually just practicing and it wasn't too bad. The course def is lacking grass in most of the fairways but we aren't PGA tour golfers getting paid to play, pick up your ball and move it to the grass if it's in the dirt. All the par 3's are in good condition, all the tee boxes are nice, it's just the fairways that need some love. Pace of play isn't bad but could've been way better, got stuck behind 3 old ppl who couldn't hit the ball more than 100 yards so they just took forever on holes. Another issue is if you're paying for a round of golf and it's 85 degrees out, they should atleast hook you up with a cart or a free drink or something. It was brutally hot and you can't play 9 holes past 9 am so I was in it for the long run. Overall it's not a bad course, just bring yellow balls, bring something to drink, and if it's super hot outside get a cart. It's easy to get on and play a round which is always a plus. read more

This place SUCKS. My cart broke down on the 3rd hole, I called the clubhouse they told me to "go fuck yourself" and hung up. Walked the rest of the course and still shot a 87 although I lost 4 balls in the middle of the fairway. The place is a minefield with all of the gopher holes just waiting for someone to roll their ankle. Once I finished the round I asked for a refund and I was told to "get out of here you kike". I'm not even Jewish. Talked to the manager about the incident, he stated that he agrees with his employee on his antisemitic statement and proceeded to tell me to "get off my course ya fuckwit. Instructors and students repeatedly stand outside the hitting bays while others are swinging, which feels like an accident waiting to happen. I've seen this occur frequently during my visits, and it makes me uneasy about liability if an errant shot were to cause an injury. Instructors should know better and should be teaching their students proper range etiquette and awareness. This issue happens often and could be easily fixed if management enforced clear boundaries and ensured instruction stayed within the designated hitting zones. This place is rated as the worst course in California if not the US. You dont go into a Denny's expecting a 5 star meal and then leave a bad review about it being crappy, so I dont understand all these complaints. This is probably the only place you can reliably book a tee time WHENEVER you want. lol If you get off work early unexpectedly and want to play a full size 18 holes at a relatively fair price then I dont think it gets any better. Tee times here cost 40? 50? Yes it can be better and i really wish the efforts made by the keepers come to fruition one day but it is what it is. One out of five stars and I did not recommend. I had a teatime at eight in the morning and it was by far the worst course I've ever done. I paid for 18 holes and it was a total of $83 for two people. They had the worst fairways ever. It is perfectly in seasoned to have a well maintenance fairway. Multiple holes had dirt all over the fairway with the only good patch of grass being on the greens, which did not make up for the experience. The fairways were made up of only dirt which had multiple potholes due to wildlife. So many balls were lost in random holes, and my clubs were damaged because of the dirt that was on the fairway. Also, while playing throughout the course, we would get rudely interrupted by the gardeners's machines and the workers housing down the the greens . Also, there was two dogs roaming around, and when I went to tell front desk about it, they simply said that it's normal because they live there. So I would've liked a heads up on that before getting startled by two huge dogs on the tee off. To add salt to the wound... There was no map that would properly guide us through their course considering it was our first time. I wish I could get a refund on my money because that is one of The worst courses I have ever played on for that price. I wouldn't wish that course on my worst enemy. read more

Okay, let me start off by saying that this golf course is definitely not Pebble Beach and course wise, in its current condition, is far from the best. However, for what it's worth, the driving range, chipping green and putting greens are great! Now back to the course: The Pros: * Solid driving range with quality teaching pros * Solid chipping greens * Two well maintained putting greens * The majority of the tee boxes are good * The majority of the greens are extremely well maintained. * Ample parking * Tee times are readily available * The sunset on holes 14-16 is amazing! (See photos) * The ride from hole14's tee box to green is breathtaking with the current bloom! (See photos and video)! * The wild life, rabbits, lizards, several birds and what appear to be prairie dogs are abundant! * There is a decent cafe to grab a bite at the turn. * The staff is knowledgeable, professional and polite * You get a free sleeve of balls (when available) with your round of golf The Cons: * The range can be crowded from time to time * Several fairways, although they have more greenery because of all the recent rain, are still patchy in areas and can be frustrating to play * Bunkers are pretty hard and compacted * There are holes left by the wildlife, not necessarily on the fairways, but off the cart paths and in OB. * The restrooms need upgrading/updating * The pro shop could use some updating and a better selection of available items. Overall: I give it 4 stars because for obvious reasons I can't give it 5 lol . For practice purposes, it's a pretty good course to play as long as you know what you're getting yourself into and what to expect. I go here to use the range. They have putting and chipping greens. Range is pretty good - the dirty thin mats. The range is usually open until 8pm during weekdays. With membership, you get a large bucket of balls everyday. Used to be 2 buckets but now its 1 so its less crowded now. read more

The worst. No greens on most of the fairways and its like driving thru a desert with how awful the fairways were. Hardly any grass except for a couple of holes at the end of the 18. The staff was super friendly tho and gave a couple of 3 ball boxes, one which was super bright red and really made a huge difference because we lost so many balls because of the dried up holes and dirt. We couldn't find half of the balls and the dirt made the balls bounce like crazy. Not ideal here for golfing but great staff and boxed balls perk. I mean they tried. So A for effort. Great for the practice area, terrible to play at. Jeez this course is like playing on concrete with gopher holes. The practice area like the range, putting green, and chipping area are nice, but the course itself? Oh man, it really needs some work. I have a membership here since it's close to work and you get 3 buckets a day for around $50 a month, but I'm planning on cancelling. I came to The Links @ Victoria Golf Course on New Year's Eve and played 18 holes. In order to set a tee time, you can either book one online or (I'm pretty sure) you can also call the pro shop to do so. If you do it online, it requires your credit/debit card as a source of accountability, like most businesses usually do. Once you get to the course before your tee time you're able to pay in cash (if you wish). The course has 2 putting greens, on the largest one you're able to practice your short game/chipping which I found to be extremely helpful. Try not to shank the ball to someone's face . Right away as you step foot on the first tee, you can notice that the course doesn't really manage their fairways. I guess it makes sense because this is one of the few courses that has a cheap fee of $30 for 18 holes (walking) for one person. Every other course is above $40. I wouldn't recommend this course to any beginners because nearly half fairways is hard dirt. I played in the morning around 8:30 AM, so maybe it's better later in the day? I think there's also 2 par 5s that are 500-600 yards as well. The bunkers have the same issue, it's mostly just hard dirt and not sand. I think the par 3s on this course were significantly better and a little more challenging. There were a couple par 3s and 4s where you had to walk a long way around to get to the green or fairway. My experience was somewhat mediocre because of the amount of large puddles that were on the fairways and bunkers. I WOULD come here again, but maybe only for the short game area as I don't think a lot of golf courses have. -Tony read more

In contrast to the plethora of negative reviews, I actually had a fairly decent experience here. Went with a few friends on a Sunday Morning and quickly got 2 lanes to share (I will say they fill up really quickly so I'd recommend arriving as soon as they open). The mats were pretty new and the field was decently green. I've never been to a golf range, but the price and the freedom you're given made it all the more worthwhile. Course isn't even in shape to drive a cart or let alone walk on. There are tee boxes, greens, and everything else around them is mud/rocks. This is the kind of course you shut down and build housing on- a total waste of land. Best way to describe it is if WW3 happened and this was the last golf course left. My group was the first tee time of the day and our cart died during the round. What type of lazy dogshit is that? To the owner/management, why are you even open and operating?? The fairways are made of grass but due to what's underneath it has caused the grass to die off. I like the course because I'm able to finish right at the four hour markand I like to be challenged by "playing the ball as it lies". Anxious to see how it is once it's renovated. Keep your head down and hit the ball first regardless of the dirt and you'll be just fine. It has been, at last, seven years since I last golfed and this visit reminded me how I should've stayed away. With COVID-19, I haven't see my best buddy and fellow Yelper, Craig Y. Let's hit the greens at the Links at Victoria Golf Course in Carson. Located at the southwest corner of S. Avalon Blvd and Martin Luther King, Jr. St., you will find The Links at Victoria Golf Course. It was opened in 1966. However, the times have caught up to the Links. While I can use COVID-19 as a possible reason for the upkeep, this is beyond months of closure, but failure for many years. Even with the information provided on the website, a lot of the hours/prices are out of date. The Links at Victoria Golf Course has a large parking lot. Possibly fits over 100 cars. Craig Y. and I arrived at 9:30am to just do the driving range or the Practice Range. A gentleman in a golf cart stopped us and asked if we had a Reservation/Tee Time. We did not. He told us that the Practice Range opens at 10:30am to 12:30pm. OK....No one informed us and neither did the website. To speed forward, at 12:30pm, a group of golfers came in and on the loud speakers were told that the Practice Range was closing until 1:45pm. for golf ball collections on their carts. They were upset and I was too. We both had to wait an hour before and, for them, after. No proper signage and staff to provide information. Another defect was the entire golf center. There were lots of patches of brown and grass that never grew back. The wedge and putting area was closed. Golfers need to practice, but its off limits for no visible reason?! At the Practice Range, there are approximately 40 Practice Range Bays. Some have PGA Professional Trainers with some high tech equipment. However, the driving range mats are the beyond deteriorated. To add to the disaster, they were missing the Rubber Tees. It made it difficult and more sore for us to hit range balls from the mat. No online notification or courtesy of letting golfers know that we need one. Craig Y. and I had difficulty and, of course, we paid the price the following morning with back pain and soreness of constantly hitting the range mat. The bright side of our visit: Price and ONE PERSONNEL. For a bucket of large balls of 60: $10 a bucket. We got two buckets. Basically $0.17 cents a hit. You will pre-pay inside at the Golf Center and they will give you a code to retrieve at the vending machine. The buckets are provided to you at the vending machine. Also, empty buckets are collected throughout the day. If I can hit 100 yard away, you can too...especially when I can master hitting wind....and not in that way. The other highlight was Daniel. Daniel was very kind and supportive of a newbie at the golf center. He assisted me and let me know the pricing and where to go. While he was there for a few hours that day, he was a big fan of my Dodgers! Definitely a highlight of my visit. I spent $30 for two hours and it was worth it from a certain point of view. While there are 40 Practice Range Bays, you can't concentrate with people stalking for an empty bay. I swore when I went to get more buckets, people were already trying to get my bay. While we were there for leisure, it felt like I was in a competition that I didn't up for. I learned my lesson and know what to expect for other golf ranges/courses. At the moment, the Links at Victoria Golf Course seems to be the most underperformed location because they sacrificed quality for price. Yes, a first timer will benefit, but it also leaves a sour taste on future visits. This isn't the same Practice Range that a chain throughout the U.S. does better. Our Course is True and Steady. With every review journaled down, it inspires followers to become leaders. Located off 192nd St in Carson this is an old golf course and not really maintained. Came here for the driving range. It was not bad of a price for what you get. The one annoying thing well two things about the driving range is the mats are old and roughed up secondly the the people who stand and wait behind you can get annoying as well. We didn't do any golfing on the course itself. The shop is nice. They do have a cafe as well. Overall I think I'd come here just for the driving range make sure to bring your own rubber/plastic tee cause there are none on the well used mats. Hopefully they will get new ones down the road and improve the the whole place but we shall see. read more

The monthly practice club is an affordable way to get range practice. It costs $54 a month for up to 3 medium (60 balls) buckets per day. There are lots of mats to play on, but Victoria constantly runs out of range balls since they are very understaffed. They tend to only have one person at the pro shop and one person collecting balls and replenishing the range ball machine. As a result, you can be waiting for anywhere from 30 min to 1 hour for balls to get refilled. Victoria is constantly running out of balls after 5:30pm. Half of the balls are so worn out and should probably be thrown away too. I haven't played on the course, but when I go to the range I hardly see anyone on the course. Maybe 1-2 groups max, even on weekends. It does look like the course is not maintained and is mainly dirt except for the greens. read more

The back story to the condition of Victoria is that it was built on a landfill. Because of all the methane gas underneath, it would take an exorbitant amount of fertilizer, water, and of course money to contract the effect and have nice fairways. And of course being a county course in Carson, not going to happen... But you know what? We actually enjoy golfing here at Victoria. Not just the driving range but the actual course! As a new golfer, having tight 8-10min tee time intervals and people waiting behind me gives me anxiety. So the ability to come on a weekend morning, barely have anyone else around, and play a couple balls instead of one is quite a treat. It's a long 18 hole with some challenging terrain to say the least. The carts are not in great shape, and it's a bumpy ride on the fairways with lots of dirt and gofer holes. Come with the right expectations, be prepared to be challenged in different ways and it'll still be a good day! And hey, where else can you get a full round of golf, cart, sleeve of balls, and hot dog for $40? The practice areas has driving range, putting and chipping greens and those are actually in excellent condition. And hey, with the crazy draught and global warming, maybe this will be the new normal for golf courses in the future... read more
