My husband and I were visiting York, Pa for a tour of the Harley Davidson factory. I did some research and found this delightful Italian restaurant . I wouldn't call it fine dining since some people had on shorts and sneakers! I had made a reservation on Open Table but arrived a day early. We were lucky to get a table. Our waitress, wish I knew her name (long red hair) was lovely, knowledgeable but very overworked for a Thursday night, She serviced the inside and outside tables. High noise level due to a group of nine women having dinner. Nothing to absorb the sound! The best part of the dinner was the Radiatore Primavera and the salted caramel gelato for dessert. The meatball appetizer and arancini appetizer were good but lukewarm. Chicken Parmesan was average. My husband waited a long time for his martini. Guess the bar was busy! read more

My boyfriend and I went to Victor's last night to celebrate my birthday, and it was the first time there for both of us. We each got the Chef's Table menu, because we liked the option to sample more flavors from the new-to-us menu. I started with the soup of the day, which was a creamy tomato bisque with shrimp, then had stuffed shells, and finally the salmon with risotto. He had the chopped salad, beef pappardelle, and bistecca toscana. He also enjoyed one of the many options for beer, and since I'm pregnant and couldn't dive into one of the delicious-sounding cocktails I chose the orange-rosemary housemade soda. Everything was OMG wonderful!! Simply having the option to enjoy a three-course meal for $45 was a great start. Everything tasted fresh, and I know it's cliche but literally every bite was bursting with flavor. The housemade soda was a hidden gem! It was super refreshing, especially when paired with all of the richness in my dinner. For dessert, we got cannoli to go, and again: Fantastic. Our waitress was friendly & prompt, and our water glasses were never empty. We did spend a little more than usual for a night out, but we agreed it was worth every cent. Loved the outdoor venue, but the food was very disappointing. The mussels and chorizo was watery and lacked spice and flavor. The Cioppino lacked salt, herbs and the broth was bitter. For $35 I left almost the whole bowl uneaten. My husband's veal saltimbocca also was simply bland and totally lacking seasoning and flavor. For being a highly recommended restaurant in our area, and having spent over $100 for two, the food was far below expectations. read more

Sadly, Not what it used to be. No table linens, and small tables crammed everywhere. Very loud and so dimly lit, the menu was impossible to read. Our waiter could not be bothered to spend any time on us and even blew off our questions about the menu. The food was only so-so. Was given a dirty spoon with dessert. The experience made me anxious to leave. Not exactly what we had in mind for our night out spending over $100 for the two of us. -------- Bill Thank you for your prompt response. I can appreciate your situation regarding space during more popular times such as Valentines Day, however, you risk the "fine dining" experience for which you are known (and for which your prices reflect) when you alter the formula in such a way that leads to a situation like we endured last evening. I've been here a few times and I am always impressed. I love the building. Has so much character. I love the divide between the more upbeat bar setting and the fine dining experience. The lamb lollipops are my go to appetizer. Both times I've had them they were absolutely delicious. The basil gimlet martini is a must try if you love fresh basil and vodka. I stand by how good this drink is. Pasta dishes had a ton of flavor and loved all the fresh veggies. Cheesecake for dessert. Yum. read more

Four friends stopped to eat dinner on June 18,2022 on our way to Baltimore, MD. The waitress asked me if I wanted tap or spring water. I chose spring water. She never mentioned I would be charged for it. I think if you are going to charge your customers for water you should tell them up front that there will be a charge. Actually we were all charged 1/4 Aqua Panna (1L). The price we all had on our bill was only $1.12 but it was the point that we weren't told there was a water charge. read more

First time there last night and will definitely be back. Had a reservation for 8:15PM and the place was packed so they ran a bit behind. We ended up getting seated close to 30 minutes after our reservation time but the guy running the front of house (Bill I think his name was) kept updating us out front & brought us a couple glasses of wine for the wait. Places get busy, it's Saturday night and things like this happen so we were all good with it. I've never understood why folks would rather be at a restaurant that has no people in it anyway. Had meatballs (very good) for a quick app and veal saltimbocca & salmon for dinner. Both meals were awesome and I'd go back for the veal anytime. Service was good despite the place being packed. Dessert, tartufo, was great and took 2 cannoli's home too. Good place...highly recommend. read more

Ok - so Victors is one of those places I have been coming to many times, over quite a few years. For us Victors often gets forgotten or overlooked, I think in part because of its location - it's not exactly out there in the limelight and as a result we often forget it is there, however they are open on Sunday and if you're looking for somewhere of quality to go - Victors is the place. Everything here is treated properly; they have a beer selection that is carefully thought out for the food that is served as well as the season - and a wine list that is unparalleled. Victors bar is superb - with an ever changing array of artisan made cocktails that are sure to please just about any palate. On the weekends there is quality entertainment here that is often wonderful. Victors offers first rate food, service and drinks- period. Their menu changes seasonally which is really a good thing. As you have already read it is in an old restored church which is really nice, but honestly starting to feel a tad dated. It the summer I have eaten outside in the afternoons and it is just delightful. Victors is absolutely without a doubt one of the finest restaurants in York. I love the menu here from the delicious marinated olives to a fine charcuterie plate - a delicious selection of Mediterranean alternatives. They serve up the favorites...Veal Saltimbocca and Chicken Piccata. Somehow I can't escape the feeling that it just isn't hitting on all 5 stars as compared with some other offerings. Feels just a little overpriced, I don't have the sensation here when I leave - that I just can't wait to return like I do for some of my other favorites. Please don't get me wrong - Victors is wonderful and everyone in York should come here for a delicious traditional Italian meal, for a special occasion or a romantic date night - we will be coming back as long as they will have us. read more

There is a wide mix of people that go here, and you get a lot of people that have lived in York forever - Victor's is kind of a staple in that area. I visited this place on a Wednesday night as I am traveling through York for work. I was looking for traditional Italian food with a good wine selection and I was not disappointed. It was a charming place when I first pulled up, although the parking lot was eerily empty. It is in a remodeled church - decorated tastefully with lights and an area outside that had propane heaters in case you wanted to sit outside even in the cold. All of the tables were spread well apart for social distancing and everyone in the restaurant was wearing some form of mask. I was the only one in the inside of the restaurant to eat- I asked the waiter and he said that the particular week I visited was known to be a slow week for them. I ordered veal marsala which came over spaghetti as well as Italian wedding soup as a starter. I was also given a warm ciabatta roll to dip in oil with Italian spices and pepper. It was all delicious. Justin was my server, and he was also acting as the bartender while I was there. Everything was wonderful and I would definitely recommend this place! It would be great for romantic nights out or for special occasions. It was slightly expensive, but not inappropriate for the atmosphere and quality of the food. I will be back! read more

Here is a recent beerfly review I did for beeradvocate, I felt it is relevant to the dining experience. I had the chance to visit Victor's for lunch and was glad to be able to take my wife here. I had been here a few years ago, but didn't remember the selection being great then, but better than average. I am pleased to see more in the way of craft beer showing up in the draft and bottle selection. We were the only ones in the restaurant because we were there close to the opening time and we were seated quickly. Victor's is a renovated church with arched windows and high ceiling. It is cozy, not a huge church but comfortable sized for the restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice with black linen tablecloths, deep red walls and green leather chairs to follow the italian color scheme, the walls are painted with columns and there are tapestries hanging from the walls. the bar area is to the left as you walk in and the dining room is located to the right which has approximately 12-15 tables and the bar is long with a standing area off to the right. The dining and bar areas are separated by a wall with windows. The service we received was prompt, friendly, efficient and helpful. My wife started to feel 'off' and was not able to finish her plate which was a large eggplant salad and the waitress asked if everything was 'ok'. The descriptions in the menu were complete but we were given the specials and had no problem asking for anything without receiving it as the place had only two tables of customers while we were there. I was pleased with the beer selection for the most part as the carried Terrrapin, Stone, Spring House, as well as the usual suspects - Yuengling Lager, Blue Moon, and Stella Artois. They have a chalkboard at the bar that lists Mikkeller, Dieu du Ciel, Kyuichi and La Rulles, as well as Founders Backwoods bastard and De Dolle Stille Nacht for specials. They also carry other bottles like Westmalle, Duve, La Fin Du Monde, Franzikaner, Weihenstephaner and many regional and macro selections. We both ordered the potato soup which was served very hot and was not chunky potato pieces as expected, but finely chopped potato with skins on. - the base was creamy and flavorful. I ordered a Cheesesteak which was tasty like a chopped peppersteak on a fresh roll w/ provolone and fried onions. I was glad they brought the marinara sauce on the side as it wasn't really needed, but I used it on half the sub. My wife had the fried eggplant salad which was well presented and was similar to caprese salad complete with mozzarella, balsamic and tomato. I was pleased with the freshness and the food was adequately portioned too. The draft I ordered was 4.5 which is slightly pricey and some of the entrees can be higher than 20 so it depends on what you order but for the area they really haven't priced themselves out of the usual range for non-casual dining I really liked the experience at Victor's and plan to return in the future for food and drinks with friends. read more

This is one of our favorite places. We've always tipped heavy, been complementary, faithful even through COVID. Tonight we noticed on our bill a 2% BOH fee. What is that you say? Well, it's restaurant jargon for Back of House. Now, I believe the BOH can make or beak a place. But it's not my job as a customer to pay them. It's the owners. In my day I (willingly and happily) had to tip out from my waitress tips to the BOH. Which is fair. The BOH fee to me seems like a slick cover for credit card fees or inflation. Victors is so cute, super little restaurant with just a few tables in the dining area and a bar on the other side of the building. It is a perfect date night restaurant, they even offer a date night Wednesday special which is really nice. They participate in Opentable, which is great and unique to the area. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and beer selection. They have a TON of really neat micro brews, and not the normal ones most places carry...really unique beers ranging from 4$ to about 50$ a glass. First time dining here. It was recommended by a good friend. We made reservation. Arrived and promptly seated. Pkenty of outdoor spaces. We sat in front which was nice. It was shaded and breezy. Staff wore masks (thank you) and tables distant appropriate. I ordered espresso martini and my friend ordered the peach perfect. Drinks were good. Appetizer we ordered the brussel sprouts. They were excellent. I want more as I type this. We ordered the beet salas and it was very good. Light refreshing full of flavor. Dinner choices; I ordered bucatini carbaronara and my frien ordered the risotto. Mine was ok, bland and I didn't care for the meat in it. The risotto was excellent. Flavorful and scallops perfectly done. The dessert menu sounded scrumptious but we did not get anything...too full. Going back to have dessert and coffee for another girl chat evening. Overall experience, sorry it took this long to try this local gem. Great atmosphere, service was excellent and attentive. Food was so good..oh I forgot about the homemade bread with dipping olive oil. Remember the locally-owned small businesses. They are what keep America great. read more

Found ourselves in York. Yelp directed us to Victors. We had to sit in the bar area due to a private party in the main dining room. My wife had chicken fettuccine Alfredo. I had a cheesesteak. Everything was delicious. Great attention to detail that you don't often see in restaurants. The bartender was great. He waited on us and helped me find a beer I liked. I'm so glad my friends took me here to celebrate my birthday. I haven't been to victors in years but after seeing their menu and trying the appetizers i knew i was in the right place! Our server, Mackenzie was so sweet and accommodating. Our table was ready on time and the chef even came out to bring my special entree which was red snapper over risotto. OMG it was soooo delicious all my friends kept eating it lol! After dinner the owner i believe came to make sure we enjoyed and wished me a happy birthday. It's a bummer that I cannot visit victors anymore because it used to be my favorite restaurant. They used to have loads of vegetarian options like my favorite beet agnolotti of corn agnolotti but on this last visit there was only one. The same old Mediterranean pasta dish which I'm not a fan of so I had to switch it up to something different. I ordered a $20 pasta dish that originally came with ham. Being a vegetarian I asked for the pasta dish without ham. My mom asked after we got our check "Just curious, do you always charge the full amount even without the meat? If so that's okay I just thought I'd ask" The manager then returns with our check as says "just so you know I took two dollars off that dish, in the 20 years in the restaurant business I've never had someone alter a dish then ask for a discount" Irritated with his sass I said to him as I was leaving "I've been a vegetarian for 7 years, I wouldn't ask to modify a dish if you had more vegetarian options" To which he replied "Yes we have a vegetarian pasta dish" (which I've had many times and I don't like) so I said "yeah you have one" Then he replied "yeah well we don't advertise ourselves as a vegetarian restaurant" His response and demeanor completely baffled me! She literally just asked a question. If this is the way management chooses to run their business I can't imagine your regulars will be coming here for much longer. read more

Neat spot-converted church! Ambiance was great-good beer/wine list too. Food was not great. Calamari tasted of old deep fryer oil. But it was cooked perfectly, tender! Linguini with white wine sauce was sub par. Pasta was from a box, and the white wine sauce was too thin and flavor was under-developed. Needed some butter and more garlic, and the white wine needed to be cooked down more. Clams, shrimp, and scallops were also cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor. Almost as if they were steamed separately from the sauce and added before bringing to the table. read more

I have eaten at Victor's quite a few times before last evening and always had a great meal and service. However, last night I was very disappointed. Due to dietary restrictions, I asked for vegetables instead of fries. I was told no. I then asked if I could order a side of brussel sprouts or any other vegetable. Again the answer was no. The waiter said they only had enough brussel sprouts for certain meals and I would have to order one of those meals to get the brussel sprouts. I go out to eat a lot and have never been told I could not have an order of vegetables in place of (or even for an upcharge) a starch. On a positive note, my steak was delicious and others in my party did enjoy their meals. Unfortunately, since vegetables seem to be an "endangered species" at Victor's, we will not be returning anytime soon. read more

Good afternoon, I'm sure the account of our dining experience will fall on deaf ears, but I feel it is important that the details be known. There was obviously no communication between the waiter and the runners. After ordering a salad, having mo0re time pass than should have the waiter returned and after seeing the salad had not yet been brought to the table asked as such. After stating he would tend to it immediately the salad was NEVER served. My wife and I both ordered veal dishes. One Piccata, one Marsala. First, the veal was almost inedible. Justin, our waiter, actually came to the table while my wife was choking on the 1st bite. Filled with gristle and to tough to cut through it with a knife. All four pieces of veal, two per serving were of the same poor quality. We sampled each others entrée. We looked at each other very surprised after finding what little taste there was to the dishes, the Piccata and the Marsala tasted the exact same. If the chef is remotely competent how can that be? Lastly, after reviewing the check we were (attempted) to be charged for two extra glasses of wine. I have dined across the country due to extensive business travel. From time to time things will go awry. But the total ineptitude and incompetency exhibited by all functions of the operation is inexcusable for a dining establishment one of the finer establishments in York. read more

Wow!!! My husband and I went to Victor's tonight for the first time. It was absolutely spectacular from start to finish. Usually we can find something to criticize no matter how small - but not tonight. We were blown away by the quality of the food and the service. We sat at the bar. The cocktails were top notch. I loved the Elegant Angel. We split the calamari, the caesar salad and one of the specials - Chilean Sea Bass over Risotto. It was over the top good. We will definitely be back. Loved it!! read more
