At first I thought the elderly gentleman that measured me was probably very experienced, but unfortunately the quality of the alteration was poor. One jacket they didn't even bother measuring, the other came back so poorly done it has to be redone. They also charged more than they initially quoted. I bringed my late husband's old jacket here. It's not just any jacket, you see it was the one he wore every Sunday to church. I kept it in the closet for years but lately I wanted to wear it myself, just to feel close to him. But it was too big for me and the sleeves were way long. The man at Victor's was very patient with me. I talk too much, I know that, but he listened and even smiled when I told him the story. He made it smaller and fixed the cuffs and didn't even charge too much. The fabric is old but he treated it careful. I wear it now on Sundays,just like he did. Stay away from this place. The new owners are complete scam artists this business will go downhill in no time I took three items which I went back to pick up. They lost two of my items and then charged me double the price of what they had quoted me from before telling me that the work done took longer than expected. They then told me to come back in a few days because they claimed to have found what they had lost. I came back and they told me that I had already picked it up days prior when they had mentioned they had lost the items again this place is a complete scam. Ruined a really nice, brand new DKNY suit. The guy there spent way too much time trying to convince me of added adjustments that I was suspicious of, but nevertheless agreed to. Boy, what a mistake, when I got the suit back it was way too tight, the lapels bulged out, and I felt as if I could rip the arm off with any sudden movement. (They cut into the shoulders too. I know never to let anyone adjust the shoulders. It's way too difficult to tailer the shoulders for a suit jacket, but I let them talk me into it. If the shoulders don't fit right, you need to purchase a different size. My shoulders had fit fine, but after the adjustments, the fit was horrible.) When I took the suit back in, he then recommended cutting into it more and making more adjustments. This time I had the good sense to walk away. They also tore a seam at the waistline by accident and claimed that it was a manufacturing defect. Offered to repair it for $10. What a joke! The suit I had brought in actually fit way better before any adjustments had been made. If you end up going here for whatever reason, know exactly what you want, give strict directions, and do NOT let them convince you of anything else. They really don't know the first thing about a proper modern fit for a suit. (Better just to avoid this place altogether.) Found a place that might be able to repair some of the damage, so keeping my fingers crossed. read more

I visited about 4 different tailor's in the valley before I found Victor. None of them are nearly as good when it comes to tailoring off the rack suits. Simple as that. Hes also faster than any of the other tailors Ive been to. Heres just one example of what i mean: i had a suit that was not right at the shoulder caps. Took the suit to two different tailors who told me there was nothing they could do about the problem. I almost gave up but decided to bring it to Victor along with another newly purchased suit. Not only was he able to fix the problem but he asked that I come back to try it before he put the finishing touches just to make sure it was perfect. I was recommended to go here by my boyfriend who has lived in Sherman Oaks for years. And swore by this place. So I gave it a try. I had a Bridesmaid dress that I needed to get altered. I literally had a couple of weeks until the wedding. So time was ticking!!! The guy that helped me took care of me so quick I was surprised. He told me he'd have it done in 3-4 days. He is friendly but more importantly, he is a brilliant tailor that somehow is able to alter and ultimately reinvent almost anything no matter what's happened--I gained a few pounds, I lost a few pounds, shorter, longer, the shoulder, the waist, the length. He is able to complete alterations, even major types, quickly, efficiently and beautifully. Your suit will rest correctly on your shoulders with the correct sleeve and jacket length. The guys at Bloomingdale's mens store selling $2000 suits recommended Victor to me! His prices are less than retail store prices and less than other tailors in LA. Victor is extremely nice, but more importantly, he gets the job done. He may be very soft spoken and sometimes you need to repeat yourself because English isn't his first language, but he is so genuinely friendly. As long as you let him know exactly what you want, he can do any job. I'm a very slim build so I always need to have my clothes taken in considerably. Victor has yet to disappoint. He has tapered the sleeves of my expensive suits and even a pea coat--a job my other tailor usually tried to stay away from. Best of all, the prices are extremely reasonable. Fast service and price is reasonable. Got jeans altered and picked up the next day. Though it looked a little unprofessionally made the stitching looked cheap and they didn't do the cut as an original cut but rather as if they just cut it and stitched the bottom part. when picked up the jeans had threads and lint on them as if they didn't bother to clean those after. Had to ask for the bag that i brought it with since they just handed the jeans with no bag at all. Brought in a large order for my first visit. Told him at least 10 time (maybe 20) that I needed one of the suits for a wedding the following weekend. He said he would call me back with pricing and the suit would be ready. He never did call. Having just moved to the neighborhood, I came here based on the stellar reviews and was really disappointed. I found the work to be on the expensive side and of poor quality and fit. I brought 5 pairs of men's pants, so this wasn't a one-off occurrence. -The stitching was uneven and haphazard -Some items were either hemmed too short or left too long despite doing measurements on location with proper shoes -Factory labels were removed and not reattached.
