After doing multiple tastings with other caterers, we chose them for their generous portions and amazing value at a very competitive price point. Why we chose them: Before choosing them, we actually met with several other caterers and even did tastings to compare our options. What really stood out about Chubby Fingers was how generous and abundant their offerings were at a very similar price point. The value honestly surprised us in the best way. The Experience (Catering Drop-off): We ended up doing a catering drop-off, and even with that setup, you could truly feel the care and thought they put into everything. The presentation was beautiful and everything was packed so nicely -- it still felt very special and intentional. The Food (The highlight of our day!): On the day of the event, the food completely exceeded our expectations. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Our guests kept complimenting the food throughout the event, and several people even came up to ask where we found the caterer because they wanted the information for their own events. Our Menu Highlights: 1. Chubs Bossam: Slow-roasted caramelized pork shoulder with ssam bar (perilla leaves, lettuce, and samjang). Absolute hit! 2. Japchae: Korean sweet potato glass noodles with mushrooms and vegetables. 3. Like many others, they were quick communicators before the event, but upon receiving payment have completely ghosted and attempts to resolve issues have gone ignored. I'm so disappointed because I wanted to support a local business, but these guys are scammers. I booked pick up catering that was supposed to include 5 proteins, 2 of which i selected to be vegetarian and vegan for our guests (which I was excited about, they sounded great!), and a promo package that drew me to choose them that included free agua fresca, quesadillas, & chips. The invoice showed all the sides included & the promos & everything. My first indicator that something was amiss was that when i opted in to the free agua fresca promo, they replied to ask if i had my own container or if i wanted to purchase one for $100. I went ahead and found my own, paid the deposit & sent my partner to pick up on the day of the party. He gets there & is told there is no agua fresca because an employee.... took the rest home? Strange & disappointing but what can you do. He grabs the food which looks substantial & drives back across town. I open it to realize there's only 3 meat proteins. Entirely missing are our 2 vegetarian proteins, quesadillas, chips, any salsas, guac. Roughly 1/3 to half our order was entirely "forgotten". I call repeatedly and receive no response. Left a voicemail, nothing. We had to leave our own housewarming party to go get vegetarian protein for our friends. I sent an email to clarify what the heck happened and request a refund for the missing items. Which has, of course, gone ignored. I really wanted to assume it was an honest mistake or maybe we even received the wrong order. But I have yet to hear from TacoMan. I wish we had paid via CC so I could get a chargeback. All together we spend nearly $400 on some rice & beans and a few slices of onion + 3 small trays of taco meat, & frankly, a lot of false advertising. Do yourself a favor and go with literally anyone else. And if any of these other reviewers want to jump on a small claims case for goods and services not delivered, we should pursue it together.

The booking process was easy, and Alba was always quick to answer all of my questions, which I really appreciated. Our taco man arrived ahead of schedule, was very nice, worked efficiently, and the presentation looked great. He also gave me clear instructions about when he would call for the final round and reminded me to have containers ready for leftovers, which we did. I appreciated how organized and professional that part of the experience was. Unfortunately, there were a couple things this time that really didn't sit well with me. As the host of a party, I'm constantly moving around and making sure everything is running smoothly. As he was getting ready to leave, he asked me about a tip. I had every intention of tipping, but being asked directly felt uncomfortable and a little awkward. Then asked about the final payment. I told him I would send the payment through Zelle, he left--but came back shortly after to ask if I had sent it yet. I was still in the middle of hosting and hadn't had a chance to do it. It put me in an uncomfortable position, and my guests even started noticing and wondering what was going on. He apologized several times and explained it was the owner's policy, and I understand he may have been following instructions, but I ended up having to stop what I was doing during the party to send payment immediately. Afterward I checked the invoice and saw final payment was due the day of the event, which I completely understand. I just would have much preferred payment to be collected upfront upon arrival rather than being stopped during hosting while trying to manage guests. The food this time was also just okay--not as great as our first experience. I appreciate Alba's communication and the taco man effort, but unfortunately this experience felt very different from the first, and I won't be using Yummy Tacos again.
