Tonight was a good night at Viera's. We were seated quickly, at about 6:00 on a Monday. Anastasia was gracious, and brought the food (with help from several servers) quite fast but not too fast, perfect Martinis, tasty lobster quesadillas, yummy Caesar salad with anchovies that looked and tasted fresh from the sea, bucatini, fettuccini with cherry stone clams, all light and fresh tasting, (my fettuccini was not bogged down with too much garlic and cheese, thank you), but the vanilla crème brulee was so-so, we were spoiled by the previous Vinings' awesome chocolate brûlée, and Anastasia didn't forget us at the end-check time, even though she was getting very busy with new customers! (4 stars because of minor glitches of average c. Brûlée, and no one refilled the water). Thanks for a great evening. We will be back. read more

Nice patio, dog friendly, our server, Abby, brought a large bowl of ice water out to our table for our dog as well as a treat for him. The food was very good, I had the seafood Diablo, my daughter had the striper fish and my wife, the scallops. I also had oysters as a appetizer and we also had the tumble weed Brie. All delicious. Although more on the expensive side it was well worth it and Abby, our server, was great! read more

This place has a nice outdoor patio, but was a total rip off. I ordered shrimp with my Caesar salad for an extra $12 and I got 3 tiny shrimps with lettuce soaked in dressing. We also got lobster quesadillas which were TINY. Very disappointing and would not recommend! read more

Seated us next to a group of 9 then refused to move us even though parties of 9 are not allowed. When I pointed this out the hostess said there was nothing she could do - though there many empty tables around. She also refused to say anything to the party of nine. Totally unacceptable and also in violation of Massachusetts law. read more

Disclaimer: this meal took us about 3 hours total to sit down, order and eat because the service is very slow. If you need a fast meal, this is not the place for you. It took our waitress over 10/15 minutes just to come over to offer us drinks. On to the food: Absolutely delicious. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer and then moved on to the portuguese styled scrod and top sirloin with truffles. The decor is slightly outdated, and I would have thought there would have been table cloths for the price - or the waitstaff to know a bit more about the meals, but I am not too worried because the food was pretty darn tasty. The server we had was rude and really ruined the experience for us. We arrived close to closing time and he sat us, saying that the chef was closing the kitchen in 5 minutes! He shoved menus in our hands and was back immediately to get orders. Our kids wanted plain pasta with butter rather than the fancy version on the menu. When our orders arrived the pastas were full of nuts and herbs, which was NOT what we ordered. He shrugged it off as if to say, "deal with it," and walked away! The dishes we ordered tasted wonderful, but our round of apps and two cocktails cost way too much to have that level of service. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE KIDS! We walked in on a Friday at 5:30. There were plenty of tables inside that were available, but as soon as the host saw our toddler, he asked us if we wanted to sit outside. Normally we would, except for the fact that it was RAINING! Yah ok, really, please sit us outside in the rain with our 2 year old. Then he made some snide remark. This place clearly does not welcome kids because they had neither high chairs nor booster seats either. I would never return here and wouldn't recommend it to anyone with or without kids due to this man's snobby and unwelcoming attitude. Hard to find much positive to say about our experience. Do not go to this restaurant if you have small children. No strollers inside, no high chairs or boosters. despite having an extremely disappointing $15 kids menu (think still frozen chicken nuggets). I'd asked due to their limited kids menu if they'd make my child a grilled cheese, but that request was denied. Outside area is filled with mosquitos. Clearly they must get complaints about this as there was a table filled with bug sprays in the corner. Our meals were okay, but extremely overpriced for what they were. A lot of people will be going to the Cape this summer. I hope my review doesn't send ALL of them to Vinings. I'd like to share the love, but I still want to be able to get a table. Tiny, bistro-esque, sophisticated but casual, fascinating open kitchen, cozy bar, windows onto Chatham's main drag, fair prices. Awesome seafood, the mashed potatos are to die for, homemade sausages, spit roasted chicken. They do a lot with Thai, Creole or Jamaican spices. I've been going here since I was a little kid...and I've never been dissapointed. A good idea: order a bunch of appetizers with a group of people and order a German beer to go with it (sorry- biased). Enjoy! read more

Formerly, Vinings, this new spot moved across the parking lot and scored a new name. We called at 4 for a res that evening. It was a Tue. evening in July. The hostess was hesitant to offer at table due to being booked but offered a high top at 6:30 or a table at 8. We accepted the 6:30 seating. There is plenty of parking in back. Upon arrival, we were greeted and brought to a side area to a two top. I noticed several high tops and a few deuces free. Our table faced the sun (hot too) so we eventually moved to a more shaded table. Our server was sweet Danielle. She was helpful when asked for wine and meal recommendations. One point of mention, it was hard not to notice every reply ended with "no problem". Also, she respectfully called me M'am quite a few times. It's just such an old term, one I am never addressed and one that made me feel ancient. This clearly is my issue but something that brought discomfort. Aside from these points, Danielle strived to enhance our dining experience and was pleasant and helpful all around. On to the food and wine and beer. They sell Devil's Purse locally brewed beer which my boyfriend loved. They have an expansive raw bar list featuring local shellfish. Prices are around 3.00 per shell, a bit pricey compared to other spots. They have a few "tower" of shellfish options, two priced at 99.00. Prices overall are at the high end of Cape Cod standards. My Day Boat Scallop dish was 34.00. My boyfriend's linguine in clam sauce was mid 20's. Wine averaged 10.00 a glass, pretty typical now days. The Ballard Lane Chard was amazing. On to my dinner choice. The scallops were cooked to perfection. I had thought Day Boat Scallops were large and a typical serving were about 3. The plating came with 6 medium/ small scallops. I did not mind as I actually prefer small scallops vs day boat. The "risotto" was a fail. It was a mushroom potato mush. I am not sure why it's called "risotto" but I did not love it. I was starving, and continued to pick at it but it was odd. The few pieces of fresh veggies were cooked al dente to my liking. Side orders are a la carte but we declined. My boyfriend's dish was really flavorful. We had to ask for a basket of bread to soak up the lovely broth. The bread was crusty good. They served a bean dip that I did not try. I saved the best to last; the local tuna poke app was the star of the day. It was so delicious and so fresh. I loved the avocado on top. It was wonderful all around and priced at 14.00. I recommend requesting a patio table outside when reserving. I noted they are dog friendly which is a plus in my book. The bar looks promising after summer season, in fact, the wood interior leads me to believe this would be a nice spot in the fall or winter months. Overall, we enjoyed our evening and recommend you try the new carnation at Bistro on Main. I'd go back but would sit at the bar or outdoor patio. The close proximity to other tables and wood seats make dining slightly uncomfortable for my liking. One point of mention, when leaving, no one said goodbye but the hostess did return our initiated salutation. I find that odd in food service not to notice patrons exiting and to extend thanks. read more

The food is just okay for the menu being so pricey. The waitress we had was wonderful! Very friendly and sweet! The seafood platter I got was not very good. (Mussels, lobster, shrimp, scallops). This restaurant really impressed us with delicious, fresh food and accommodating service. The wait staff were extremely helpful when we wanted to change tables. They also brought out delicious, hot bread (the garlic bean dip was amazing) and made food and drink recommendations which did not disappoint. I ordered the scrod which was off the charts good. Other highlights were the salmon and tuna tataki special. Also apparently the aperol spritz was good (my sister ordered and she was recently abroad in Italy and hasn't had a good one since). We were a large group (& three generations) and we all had an outstanding experience at Vining's Bistro. The food was delicious and well-presented, and our server, Chris was exemplary. She was attentive to the little things and obviously took pride in her work. Hubby ordered a seafood dish that had scallops, but he asked if they could be omitted - no problem! Not only that, after bringing everyone their food, she returned with a small bowl full of shrimp to make up for the scallops. Color him impressed. I had a hard time choosing from the appealing and varied menu (Mexican-inspired, Thai, American) and went with 2 appetizers as my entree (crab cakes and a lobster taco) - both were really yummy, and if it wasn't frowned upon, I would have licked my plate! read more

Excellent!!! We had a party of three and had a table ready at the exact time of our reservation. The place is small but has a nice summer essence to it, that felt perfect for a rainy evening in the Cape. We had steak and chicken, and all three dishes were delicious. Chicken Milanese (I think was the name) was delicious. Crispy and flavorful on the outside... Juicy and moist on the inside. Actually the new best place to eat downtown Chatham. It's not over run by every vineyard vine yuppie snob like other places downtown Chatham these days. The food was so good, and the kids (3 and 8) felt so invited and were given comfy couch pillows to sit on. Their kids menu was awesome, and it seems even the kids food was cooked by a chef, grilled sweet potato slices and asparagus on the side of a spaghetti dish. Oysters and clam chowder so good. Service was fairly attentive but very, very rushed. Atmosphere is nice, and it's a good location right in town. As for the food, it was very hit and miss. My scallop dish was perfectly cooked and delicious, and I didn't miss the pork belly that should have been on the plate. However, at $32 I feel like it should have been there. My husband's scrod was overcooked and flavorless, and was missing the veggie accompaniment. Seasonal gazpacho was excellent. However, the meatball small plate left a lot to be desired..... I make way better ones at home, and for $5 per ball I was expecting some pretty darn tasty ones. Overall, this place is overpriced, and when you order you are gambling in terms of quality and taste. You could get something amazing that makes you not mind paying $$$ or you could be getting something pretty mediocre. My advice to the chef would be to par down the menu and focus on seasonal ingredients, then you'd have a decent restaurant. read more

Came here on a Saturday and enjoyed the 'light fare' menu in between lunch and dinner time. There was only one other occupied table that I noticed in the place - may be because it is a bit hidden from the road and there was construction outside? There was a good amount to choose from on the menu and a variety of different options - pasta, a burger, a crab cake, duck spring rolls. All the food I sampled was very good - the pasta was garlicy delicious, the burger and fries hit the spot and the crab cake (wrapped in phyllo dough) was also tasty. Service was good. Would definitely consider stopping into the Bistro again for a bit to eat. read more

By far the best oysters in Chatham. Large, meaty and briney just the way I like em. The grass fed burger left much to be desired and was unevenly cooked. The garlic Parmesan French fries were good. Those at the table who had the clam chowder said it was the best they had. Lobster bisque was ok. Service was ok. A little inattentive as far as water refills went. Waiting almost 2 hours for our food, which we ended up canceling other than getting the kids something to eat. Alfred, our waiter, was the only pleasant part of our experience. It was blatantly obvious the establishment caters to high value customers coming from the 4 and 5 star resort hotels. The selections are limited, but everything was delicious! For those who are Gluten Free, the menu clearly labels safe choices. The sea scallops were excellent! I liked the creme brûlée, as well. Such a great restaurant. The ciopinno is spectacular. Loaded with shellfish. The broth is flavorful with saffron and true lobster and shrimp stock. Our other favorites are the Portuguese scrod and chicken Milanese. If you can, sit at the bar and and enjoy the locals and Jules, a terrific bartender and server. Good food. Don't eat on the raw bar side - it's very noisy. Even the owner doesn't sit there. They don't serve bread on that side.
