Beef Pho that needs to be seasoned with beef bouillon makes us sad. It LOOKED amazing, but the flavors were missing and I don't understand how. This is my first time in here and it was disappointing. I order a beef pho noodle soup. The staff asked if I wanted the combination (beef rare, beef brisket and meatball). I said yes because it was how pho supposed to be in Vietnam. I'm a Vietnamese anyway. I was discourage to try it for several times because I saw some photos with a pho soup and some avocado in it. I assure you it never happen in Vietnam or any other Viet places. The pho came out after about 10 mins, with 6 pieces of meat. WHAT??? YES!!! I counted. For almost $10, you get a bowl of noodle and 6 pieces of meat. (They charged extra 50 cents for the combination and still give me 6 pieces of meat). The soup is very bland. Tasteless!!!! TASTELESS. It is like hot water. I had to put extra hoisin sauce to have a taste. The only good thing is the veggie bar with basil and bean sprouts. It was a self-serve so you can take whatever you want. I love the first location and this one is just as good or better! It is very close to where I live and right by the school so it's a perfect spot to go grab something fast to eat. At the same time, it doesn't have to be a quick stop for food and has tons of options that can be enjoyed on less hectic days. I love the veggie pho and pretty much anything with their tofu in it, whether it's pho, a bành mi, noodle bowl, or salad bowl. They are still growing and adding a few things to the menu here and there. Curry fries are the bomb too. Also, the weekend hours are a huge plus. It's always fun to get food late. As someone who frequently visited their original, Elm St. location, I must say: I really wanted to enjoy their new addition but sadly, I cannot lie. The menu is mostly the same but the quality in food seems to have taken a downturn. For starters, I ate with about 5 people and every single one of us had something wrong with our order when it came out. Either something was missing or the wrong choice was given -- no complaints were made simply because we don't roll like that (chill folks here) but still. Not sure how you manage to get every order wrong. Also, my most beloved "tofu fries" simply weren't the same at this location :( At the original spot, they are mouth-watering and out of this world. When they finally came out (I had to remind them twice) they just weren't the same flavor. Dull, undercooked, what a let-down. The location here is obviously convenient if you're a UNT student but otherwise, I have to suggest the original location. I'm new to Denton and have eaten at more than a few Vietnamese Restaurants in my time. to sum up my experience at this location, trendy does not make for good tasting food. We ordered The Traditional Roll which is supposed to be pork and shrimp, but they were out of shrimp so we got to "pick our own protein" the rolls were fairly bland, with shredded iceberg lettuce, instead of leaf lettuce, no basil and the peanut sauce tasted like thin unsalted peanut-butter with no hint of anything else in it. Moving on to the Pho /Noodle Soup we ordered: Pho Bo Beef Noodle Soup w/ Rare Steak, and Beef Meatball major complaints: 1.One being asked what kind of protein I want when I order the dish by name was sort of odd and showed me the staff/cashier was a bit less knowledgeable about the product that she was selling . 2. Served in cardboard bowls with noodles cemented to the bottom. Obviously made ahead judging by the amount of unmovable noodles. You could taste the cardboard in the soup flavor. 3. Bland, and luke-warm, the broth tasted like watered down canned broth with no hint of any of the tradition fragrant spices like cinnamon or anise. Even with adding the typical add-on's, hoisin sauce, green onions, white onions, basil ,sriracha and lime, the lack of spices in the broth made it less than perfect. 4.The serving temperature of the soup lacked enough heat to wilt the basil and bean sprouts or cook the not quite the rare flank steak and the resulting bowl tasted more like a twist on a bean sprout basil and onion noodle salad than actual pho. I am hoping this is limited to the Viet bites at this location and look forward to trying the other restaurant soon,thinking, away from the trendy downtown area, my dining experience will be better. read more

Visited the location today.. friendly people.. but the food is not Vietnamese. Ordered the large Pho with all three meats. It came with 1 slice of Brisket, 1 slice of fatty beef, and 1/2 a meatball. Pho is a meal that is close to my heart... and this pho wasn't even close to it. First off, who pays 9 bucks for a bowl of pho?! You can literally drive into Plano or Richardson to get yourself a 6 dollar bowl that's actually authentic. I've never tasted a broth so bland before - but that wasn't even the worst part for me. Pho can be oily, but this broth was filled with so much oil I was dabbing my lips after every bite cause I felt so gross. Hard to rate since I didn't eat here. The Yelp says "delivery" so I used the listed number. Phone went to VM and said nothing about Viet Bites, sounded like a personal line. Googled another number that answered and gave me the first number to call again. Answered with "hello" (very confusing as a business). I asked if it was Viet Bites, it was, asked if they delivered, told to hold on. Next person says "hello?", I ask same question. "I'll get you the number" is my answer and what would be my fourth phone call and second internet search just to eat at this place. Too exhausted from this journey, and writing this review, I decided to just drink my dinner a mere blocks from Viet Bites. I drive into Denton from Wichita Falls at least once a month just to get away. I have driven by Viet Bites quite a few times and definitely wanted to come in and give it a try; however, my wife is not a creature of variety so I would have to find the perfect opportunity. What better opportunity than having to go down for work on a weekday?! So I was excited but I held it in as I entered the clean establishment. The restaurant is located near UNT and they take advantage of it. The place is full of bright colors and has that early college vibe. That and there were a couple college students doing homework on laptops at some tables. But it was a peaceful experience as 80's music played, such as "Jessie's Girl". So I walked up to the cash register and wasn't exactly sure how to order but I wasn't picky either. I asked the cashier what he suggested and he walked me through the easy step by step menu. It's much like a Chipotle or QDoba menu. Pick your item, then protein, then sauce, etc. I had the noodle plate with pork and it did not disappoint. I quietly enjoyed my plate and headed home afterward. It was a really good experience, the customer service was great, the food was good, and the establishment was clean. Starting off, I ordered online and my meal was delivered. It had a $5 fee for delivery and a minimum order of $10. I got a regular bowl of pho w/ 3 meats (.50 cents more) and thought it'll be worth it, but it wasn't. The disappointment is in the broth, sadly. The spicy lemon grass beef broth was super greasy and it didn't taste like pho at all. Also, the description said it came with sriracha and hoisin sauce but I don't think I got them. Went there for the first time yesterday. I got the beef pho and my husband got the beef rice bowl. The rice bowl was good with the marinated beef and a tangy dressing. The concept of the pho was pretty near. Had a little section where you get to pick your pho veggies. The pho it self was bit bland and made me drown it in sriracha and soy sauce. It's a cute place with friendly service. If I come back I'll def get a rice bowl. read more

I've been to both locations for this restaurant and have been highly disappointed at each. The Spicy Beef Pho is spicy, but lacks flavor. It was also served barely above room temperature, which to me isn't appetizing for soup. The chicken in the spring rolls was over cooked and hard to chew. Also, their peanut sauce just isn't as good as I've had at similar Vietnamese restaurants in the metroplex. Also, the silverware was very dirty, which worries me. read more

The beef broth pho with rare flank steak (Ph tái) is my favorite thing to get here. The boba smoothies here are also very very good, as is the banh mi. However, delivery is very expensive, and almost everything else isn't worth it. The lemongrass and chicken broths are very greasy and don't taste good at all, and everything else isn't very well made or tasty. I'm also not a fan of the ambience of this location, which can only be described as "greasy hipster". Still, great for a quick pho fix, and their staff is very sweet. EDIT: After reading the other reviews, I can't believe that the broth was so bad for everyone else! Everytime I got delivery it was delicious. Maybe I got it fresh? However, I will agree it is very expensive: $5 delivery fee on a minimum of $10 order means I have to spend around $20 just to get a meal. read more

Terrible. We waited 40 minutes for our food and it was still wrong. One of the food preppers, who I'll refer to as Bryan, with a y was not wearing gloves will preparing or handling food. Bryan with a y was rolling spring rolls and handling vermicelli noodles without washing his hands; cross contamination. There was a long piece of hair in the utensil dispenser. Easy location north of UNT and Fry Street. It's a to-go style, no frills pho place. You get your pho and you get the rest of the stuff from a self veggie/condiments bar. Really good pho although I wish it wasn't so pricey but it's fine. Great service from friendly staff. Love the fact that there's a parking lot in the back. I expected to be able to get shaken beef since I've had it at every Pho place I've been to. Instead you make your own bowl. The bean sprouts were cold, noodles were cold, chicken was dry/lukewarm/inedible. I thought the peanut sauce would be mixed in with the noodles like pad Thai but it was a little to go container right out of the refrigerator. I orders an egg which was so over cooked it was too far gone. The soda fountain was on the fritz and I basically only got syrup. To their credit they did offer me a free bowl of Pho of my choice for my troubles. The pate was kind of tasty. The Pho brisket was fatty spoiled meet. The employee was super nice, but it was $16 for one if the worst lunches I've ever had in my life. read more

Seems like the staff doesn't really know what's going on. Also the milk tea is blended with ice and lacks potency in flavour, possibly so cut down on actual product in the tea. I love love LOVE the food at Viet Bites, but I'm getting really sick of them messing up my order. We consistently pay extra for avocado in our tofu pho (which I have been told multiple times in the past by employees that tofu pho is supposed to automatically come with avocado at no extra cost) and they almost never give me the avocado I pay for. Seriously maybe 1 in 5 times do they get my order right now. Whether it be not including topping I ask/pay for, adding in things I specially requested NOT to be added in, or completely forgetting the 4 vegetable egg rolls I ordered (this has happened more than once). I get that mistakes happen, I wouldn't throw a fit if it happen 2 or even 3 times, but it's constant now! Obviously I like their food enough to tolerate them screwing up so often because I'm still in there at least once a week. I'd still recommend you try Viet Bites, but at least go in person (don't get your food delivered) so you can easily fix your order yourself. I'll happily change my review to 5 stars once they can consistently make my order correctly. read more
