Very disappointing experience. We spent $80 on sushi alone through Uber Eats (before fees and tip), and the portion sizes were shockingly small. I understand presentation matters, but for that price, the amount of food we received was honestly unacceptable. The photo speaks for itself compared to my hand. What makes this even more frustrating is that I've seen other reviews from this restaurant, and those portions looked completely normal -- so this felt especially misleading. With a one-year-old at home, dining out isn't always realistic, so I was really hoping this would become a convenient local option for us, especially since it's so close. Came here with my wife last night. We each got separate items and a couple hours later, I got very bad food poisoning. I was throwing up for hours, and threw up so hard that I broke all the blood vessels around my eyes as seen in the photo. I called and spoke to the shift manager the next day, and she told me that she would not be able to give any compensation unless there was a doctors note. I tried explaining to her multiple times that I was not seeking compensation, that I was simply trying to tell them so that they wouldn't have issues with this food being served to other customers and she kept talking over me and interrupting me to tell me they could not issue a refund unless I had a doctors note. This was our favorite restaurant in Northlake Commons, so it's extremely disappointing that the manager was not more receptive to hearing what I had to say and kept interrupting me on the phone. The Midnight Roll and Pink Panther Roll are both made with soy paper, which I really like. I do think soy paper rolls are not as tight, so you have to be careful picking it up. The service is good. I'm reading the reviews and think they may be talking about a different place! Ordered the "squid salad," and got about 5-7 shavings of squid and 85% cucumber/filling. So disappointing. Ordered a few rolls; pink panther, Alaska, and California (kiddo). I thought it was a joke.. these things are the width of my thumb!! I get it, you want to protect margins, but geez. I've been whining to stop here and try their food for some time and tonight was the night. I stopped and order takeout and sat at the bar while I waited for my food. The restaurant was decently busy for Friday night at 6 PM and the service staff was extremely kind. The bartender gave me her recommendations which I did choose one of we ordered the spicy edamame, the spring rolls, the hot mama roll and the deep fried special roll I think is what it was called. The food that came out quickly while I stepped on a beer and then I headed home to share with my significant other. Overall, the food was excellent. The only thing I did not like was the packaging wasn't the greatest and the spicy edamame leaked all over my car on the drive home. Sometimes you are waiting 15min on food but with it all made to order it will take time. The longest we have waited was 25min for enough food for 6 Ambiance - Their dining room isn't very large so during their very busy times you might have to eat outside. Other than that it is clean. Service!!! Consistently the worst. We go about once a week. (We hate the traffic getting to other places and Kurogi is less than 5 mins from our home.) There are usually 2-4 workers on their phones. The service is incredibly slow. There is one young man that is amazing and we enjoy it when he is there to wait on is. Everyone else is slow to respond, take your order, refill drinks, get your ticket. What should take 45 mins total could easily be 90 mins- and it has. I just don't understand the service issues here. Their food is okay but ordering online is super frustrating as the 'Special Instructions' button wasn't working. I ordered regular Tonkotsu ramen which is the same exact price as the spicy version. I always like the chili oil on the side so I can choose how spicy I want so asked for a side of it when I got in there. They still charged me 50 cents for a side which is annoying because if I would have just ordered the Spicy version, the girl said it'd be the same exact thing coming on the side and it'd be the same price. 50 cents isn't a lot but I found it super annoying considering it would have been the same exact thing as if I just did spicy. Not the best first impression so will be sticking to other Ramen spots. read more
