Com Dac biet - Can never go wrong with a grilled porkchop rice plate. The pork chop had a really good bbq char flavor that you can taste. You know that the pork chop was cooked well over a huge flame when you can taste the flavor. The shredded pork was soft and tender and the crispy shrimp cake was soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Delicious Rare beef salad - this dish was okay. Was craving pho and was in the area so decided to stop in and give this place a try. Was greeted upon walk in and seated, water came shortly after. I usually order the same pho so I was also ready to order, I ordered the Pho Bo. My rating is based on not being able to have 3 portions of rare beef. To my understanding I was instructed I had to choose 3 different type of beef. Didn't really like the other cuts of meat and usually just get rare beef. Less than 5 minutes later the pho came out and it was a good temperature. The broth was more on the sweeter side, but once I added toppings and sauces it all came together nicely. Nom nom, my Dad and I loved Viet Noms! Initially we wanted to try another spot for lunch but it was closed for Black Friday. Luckily Viet Noms was open and it was the perfect opportunity because my Dad and I have wanted to try this place for some time. He also got a Chicken Pho (Pho Ga) which he raved about! I've seen Banh Khots on social media and was always intrigued. When I saw that Viet Noms had them on their menu I knew I had to try them! The outside of the Banh Khots were crispy and crunchy. I wrapped mine in the provided lettuce and felt that the dipping sauce that came with it paired well nicely. It was topped with shrimp and came with lettuce and mint. The only thing I wish was that the lettuce provided was bigger. The shrimp all varied in sizes as well. For a Friday at lunch they weren't too busy! We were greeted and seated immediately and all of the servers who served us were extremely friendly. Thanks to yelp, I found this place! It's in a shopping center where it can easily be overlooked. Once you enter the door, you'll find a very large dining room. The menu has a good range of choices with some unique offerings. Started with the Banh Khot... definitely a MUST HAVE! The crispy rice cakes are light and airy. They do take a little extra time, but worth the wait. I was thankful it was just me because I ate them all! The rare beef pho was yummy. Not the richest broth I've had, but what made this pho stand out was the thickness of the beef compared to the paper thin slices you get most places. I also ordered the garlic string beans and substituted garlic rice for the jasmine rice. Based on the menu description I was expecting a garlic-overload on the beans, but that wasn't the case. Regardless, this dish was very good. I'd order all three items again. The finale was the hand written ticket... love the old school approach. Service was awesome. My wife and I started with their highly popular Banh Khot, crispy rice pancakes with shrimp and scallion oil. This is delicious and pairs great with lettuce, mint, and fish sauce. This is also a great choice aside from the typical spring/fries egg rolls. For our main entree, my wife enjoyed her beef brisket pho which was packed with a generous amount of meat. I loved my pho with meatballs and beef brisket. Their pho broth is very different compared to most pho places that I've been to; the broth is hardy, beef flavored, and very bold. It's fantastic! The place is clean and staff was very attentive. Food ratings below: 5/5 - Spring rolls - very good and I could tell it's freshly made with pork and shrimp - served with peanut butter dipping sauce 4/5 - Bo luc lac - it was good but portion was pretty small - served with brown rice and side salad 2/5 - Chicken with lemongrass - the stir fry served with brown rice and a side salad had a weird seasoning/taste to it - it was very unfamiliar and did not taste good 2/5 - Bo Kho with baguette - the soup had 3 pieces of beef but the seasoning was very different than what I'm used to. Our first time ordering from this restaurant. We got 2 large pho, 1 regular pho, and 1 rice plate. It was pretty good! We really enjoyed the food. The server at the front was extremely welcoming and friendly over the phone and in person. However, there's a couple of things to take into consideration. The lettuce (salad) that came with the rice plate was not fresh. We had to toss them out. We received one small plate (bag) of veggies despite how big our order was. Our first time here since our move to Livermore. We were craving for Pho and this place had decent reviews. So we went with it... I regret going to this place. Walking in we were not greeted and the staff that was at the station near the kitchen saw us, but did not greet us and she continued to wipe the dishes. Waited for a couple of minutes at the door and then she decided to come up to greet us and took us to a table to be seated. She gave us the menu and came back 10 minutes later to take our orders. After serving our drinks, she continued on whatever she was doing. We received our orders and were missing one order, she never came back to check on us to see if we received all of the orders, by then we didn't want it anymore. Seems like they don't wash their lettuce (see photo) or wash good enough. It looked like bug eggs or dirt. And to mentioned there were flies on the windows flying around the restaurant and some of the flies landed on the sauces that they leave out for customers to use at the tables. That was nasty. Long overdue review. Yelp says I started this February 12, 2017! Unfortunately, I don't have pics of the pho from the last few times we dined here or from our togo orders. I did manage to snap pics of their shrimp and vegetarian spring rolls before we devoured them though. Love the pho here. The broth is well-made, flavorful, and you can taste the difference between Viet Noms and other establishments. They always include a generous amount of noodles, tripe, and flank steak. Getting it togo is always a challenge with the rice noodles bunched up but nuking it with the broth for a few minutes does the trick..just not as good as dine-in fresh. WIth Covid, there isn't a choice now. The spring rolls are freshly made with the rice paper soft and warm. The included dipping sauce complements it perfectly too!
