    Bahn mi sandwich
    Joyce L.

Really good bahn mi sandwiches! Nice flakey crunch of the baguette bread. Perfect to take on-the-go. We had ordered a few to bring for a park day. And what a great decision that was! Delicious sandwich after a nice stroll in the park. :)

Got the Vietnamese sub (B1) and chicken salad roll -- both were fresh and packed with flavor. The bread was crisp, the chicken was juicy, and the salad roll was light and refreshing. Service was great and super friendly. I've been coming here for years, but today I finally decided to leave a review. Easily one of the best Vietnamese subs in Vancouver. Highly recommend.

I stopped by Viet Sub after walking by dozens of times. I got the special Bahn Mi for a reasonable $8.95. The restaurant is s and cozy, and seems very geared towards take out. The sandwich was promptly served up and well packaged. The meat was warm and flavourful while the vegetables were crisp and just the right amount of tart. The only thing that makes me hesitate giving 5 stars is the bread. Although good, it was far softer than I like in a Bahn Mi which took away from the overall texture.

Hole in the wall super casual. Think topdog if you have one in your neighborhood. Bar seating. Inside its only big enough for 5 adults, no strollers, no luggage. Food: $8 usa bun mi and $8usa cha gio. Their menu item names are a little different from san jose terminology. Fair portions for the price. The nearby neighborhood is a lot more expensive. Friendly service. As if you're their regular but you are just in vacation being there for the first time.

Friendly, fast service. I had two shrimp salad rolls for lunch and they were so good; fresh, light, authentic. Highly recommend this place for a meal on the go.

Viet Sub on Robson St downtown, absolutely delivers via delicious subs! My go to is the Lemongrass Chicken Sub. It's made quick, with an appetizing appearance & most of all - tastes super fresh. There's nothing fancy about sitting in here but that's not why I come here. The quality is supreme & that's all I want in a quick lunch time bite. I missed out on Vietnamese history way back in the day. I did not realize that the French ruled over Vietnam at one time. Hence the awesome fresh baguettes, used at Vietnamese restaurants. I will definitely be trying out other menu items over the next few months - stay tuned. This particular block of Robson St will probably be razed to the ground at some point to make way for a high rise. I hope when that happens that Viet Sub opens up somewhere close by, cause this spot is easy to get to & very central. If you're tired of Subway, give Viet Sub a try. Oh & Viet Sub truly has the freshest cup of water in the downtown core!

Love me some Banh Mi! This place is legit a little "hole in wall" in the middle of hustle and bustle downtown Vancouver right on busy Robson Street. If you're looking for a quick and yummy bite this is the place, service is super friendly and fast and the food is fresh made to order. My husband introduced me to this place, a regular when he worked downtown. I've had several of their banh mi and spring rolls. Fresh ingredients and very tasty.

Hole in the wall with only room for maybe 6 people inside and it's tight seating. The staff was very friendly and caring. There's not much I can say about the veggie sub other than it absolutely hit the spot. Very fresh and tasty. I like that their bread isn't too crunchy. And it's a great deal! This is not the place to go for ambiance but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for a simple straightforward banh mi.

Great quality food. The banh mi is very delicious and always has fresh ingredients. It's a pretty small place so it has very limited seatings. The staff is very kind and friendly. I highly recommend this place!

Been here a few times already and I can't get enough! Taste 1/1* Their subs don't taste like the traditional that I'm used to, and normally not a fan of the cold cut subs, but man do they knock 'em out of the park Lemon chicken subs by far my fav Value 1/1* Sizes of the subs are closer to a 6" subways sun, but at $7 it's worth it! Service 1/1* Fast and friendly with a smile Cleanliness 0.5/1* Searing area be cleaner Overall/Revisit 1/1* Would definitely return for 4th, 5th and more times Paying for ambience? NO Above and beyond? 0/+1* NO

I normally don't frequent the downtown area but due to some errands, my dad and I found ourselves wandering around for a quick bite. Do not be fooled by the appearance of this small shop, their subs pack a PUNCH and for a great deal as well. I've seen subs go up to as much as almost $14 in some places so when I stepped up and ordered a $7-8 sub it was refreshing to say the least. I had the chance to try the chicken sub and house special sub. Both were good - crunchy baguette, ginormous portions of pickled daikon and carrots (my absolute favourite!!!!) and decent amounts of meat underneath. The house special features a whole selection of meats- I tasted meatball mix, Vietnamese ham and even regular pork pieces as well...They do not miss on packing the subs full! This is definitely not the best sub I've ever had but for what it is and what it costs, I am happy with it for sure. The shop features a few small spots for dine in, but it seems like the grand majority swing by for take out. It also seems like they have a lot of loyal regulars which is amazing to see! During times like these, it's always great to show continued support for small businesses. Although there wasn't much need for service, the man at the counter was really nice and even brought water over to our little table when he served us the food. I would 100% return when I'm in the area and looking for a quick bite.

Hole in the wall venue. Limited seats, probably can seat 6ppl comfortably inside, 4 more outside. It's a place to grab and go. Friendly service, it was full inside, I took a seat outside and they brought my order out. It was delicious, I had the cold cut banh mi, baguette was light and crunchy, crunchy pickled carrot and daikon, good portion on the meat, tasty sweet and tanguy sauce. It hit the spot, it's convenient. Recommended if you are looking for a quick lunch but nothing fancy.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

Went in for lunch with my granddaughter, both of us fans of Vietnamese food. Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. The Garden Rolls were absolutely the #1 worst ones we've ever eaten! We've had hundreds of fresh rolls at dozens of places and sadly, none were as tasteless as these. They consisted of noodles, a bit of flavorless tofu and cucumber. Fresh rolls MUST have at least one or more of the following: fresh mint, fresh cilantro or fresh Thai Basil. Hestia's had NONE!. To add insult to injury, the watery sauce also had NO flavor. To add more insult, they were baggy and poorly wrapped and the innards kept falling out. Not fun and definitely not good. The king oyster mushrooms were very good, but there was a ton of pink mayo dousing it. I would have preferred the sauce be in a separate bowl so we could choose how much dipping we'd like to do. The saffron tofu bowl was sensational! Perfectly spiced and full of a huge variety of well-cooked veggies plus the saffron rice was good too. No one came during our meal to ask if we needed anything or to ask how our meal was. The customer service is in need of some work.
