3.5 rating. Have walked past Viet Sub many times knowing they have many reviews on yelp so I decided to give them a go, and yea they are alright... I will go back. Customer service was 4.5/5, and speed was about 3.5/5 (my wife left after I ordered to get Indian next door and when she returned I was still waiting, but didn't really feel I waited forever). 3.5/5 food; I ordered the deep fried pork sub. The sub tasted good but nothing that blew my mind. The pork could have been hotter and a little more crispy for my idea of what I thought I was ordering. Furthermore, either more meat or less bun.. felt the ratio was a little off but for 5 bucks I thought it was still a good deal and I will go back. read more

I work near this place and have yet to find a decent Vietnamese place in this area (I realize there are some in the Chinatown). This place is good for what it is! Cheap subs, decent pho. Lineups that are out the door during lunch are a drawback, but if you go during an off time it's usually only a 5 minute wait. The people are nice, and if you work in the area it's a nice change up from the falafels and subway (and slightly cheaper - the sub is under $4). read more

I heard about this place from a friend that works in the area and it was good value for the money. me and my coworker bought a special sub and meatball sub together and it came to $8.96. I had the special sub which included some meatballs, pate, and vietnamese ham with picked daikon and carrots and cilantro - and it was filling and good. This place has the best Vietnamese sandwiches that I have had. I accidentally stumbled upon them back in 2012 and now I moved here in July 2014, and they are consistent when it comes to quality and good food. I have tried many Vietnamese sandwiches all over van and none of them compare to this place. They also have great customer service :) read more

I stop by this little restaurant a few times on my way to work .. Really friendly service. I only order the small wonton soup , which is so far my favoriate. Flavorful soup with 6 tasty wontons cost about $5 for a light lunch...not a bad deal. It gave me enough good energy to start the day ! Did try the lemongrass chicken on rice..$1 or $2 cheaper than other restaurant. It didn't win me over..so I will just stick to the soup. read more

I don't usually hand out 5 star ratings, but this place is frickin amazingggg! The food is delicious, the service is warm and the prices are incredible! If you are visiting Vancouver, this place is a must at least once! The line up around lunch time can be bad during the week... But then again, that is a testament to the quality of this place. This sub was the worst we have had. We ordered 2 varieties and the buns were so hard and stale. You could crack a tooth on them!The salad rolls were poorly rolled and not very flavourful. Skip this place. read more

When Viet Sub's storefront closed down, the city mourned. And when it opened up again two storefronts away from its old spot, I rejoiced! Viet Sub has moved to a much cleaner looking place just a bit down the block (the current address on Yelp is correct). It's still a very small operation, but now I hesitate to call it the true "hole in the wall" it was before moving. This place is very aptly named after its specialty. Everybody I have taken here has LOVED the Vietnamese Subs served here. The service is friendly and usually quick even though the place gets SWAMPED at lunch hour. Back to the subs which, by the way, are DELICIOUS. You cannot go wrong with ANY selection on their menu (although my personal favourite is B2 - cold cuts, I also hold the BBQ subs near and dear to my heart). The French bread itself is always crunchy and fresh. The sauce is plentiful and heavenly - be careful though, it drips. And the sub always has a perfect balance of meat and veggies, which is more than I can say for some other places in Vancouver. Sure, there's no pate in the sub (more healthy?), but there's good reason I keep coming back here: IT TASTES FREAKING AWESOME. PS: Johnson C., to each their own, but I would take Viet Sub over Babylon Cafe any day. I get bored while still in the process of eating one shawarma from Babylon, but I've scarfed down two subs from Viet Sub for dinner and only stopped because I was full. read more

When my boy J (at the time he was just a boy J, but we have been bound together through commensality and a shared love of passing judgment) introduced me to his fav pho joint, I was skeptical. Let's be perfectly honest here! Is it the best banh mi or pho in town? Probably not. I definitely have had better pho elsewhere. However, given it's in downtown and for that price, it's pretty much as good as it gets. I work/live nearby, so I'm one of the regular customers. Their service is quick and friendly. I'm new to Vancouver and generally avoided small asian restaurants along Robson because they felt like cheap tourist traps (like the ones around the library). I decided to try Viet Sub on a cold rainy evening because I had a desperate craving for pho. And I'm so glad I did! Friendly, fast service and cheap, delicious pho. I've tried lots of pho in the in the city and this is one of my favorites. Some people here have complained about the small portions.. and yes they do look small in those plastic bowls they serve it in... but there was one time I had it to-go and put it in a large serving bowl at home and it filled it to the top. This is a generous serving of pho! It's flavorful and delicious and I've been back every week since my first visit. I've also tried grilled chicken on vermicelli with springrolls... also very good. I've been to Vietnam and this is very authentic. Still have to try a sandwich though. read more

I've visited this location multiple times and each time I have been nothing less than thrilled with their staff and delicious pho amongst many other options that are sure to satisfy your taste buds. Ordered the meatball sandwich and a rare beef pho. The sandwich was fine. The rare beef was the bottom of the barrel, I could not finish any of the beef slices they were so chewy, full of tendons. I had to spot each one out. Stay away from the rre beef pho. read more
