Hole in the wall gem! This newly opened spot is such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. We ran in around 7:45 PM (they close at 8), fully expecting to be turned away, but they were incredibly kind and still took our order. They have limited seating. We got the grilled chicken and satay chicken banh mis. The grilled chicken was bomb -- juicy, flavorful, perfectly done. The satay chicken was super fresh with a lovely ginger kick. And those buns were so warm and toasty with just the right crunch. They also have a BOGO offer that makes this an easy win for the wallet. Can't wait to come back! read more

Nice to have banh mi so close to my office! I decided to try a sandwich on my lunch break. It's a small quaint shop, quick service. I got the house special. Bun was nice and toasty, but not to the point where it scratches the inside of the mouth. Flavour was good. I went here for a quick grub before the movie. Banh Mi Bar was the perfect spot for cheap healthy lunch and I would never get sick of eating Banh Mi. I wasn't too sure whether to get a Banhmi itself or a combo and combo was the best decision I made! I had Chicken Banhmi Combo ($11 mango pudding included) and it was totally worth it. Banh Mi was slightly small than what I expected, but this Lemongrass Chicken Banhmi was packed with flavours. My baguette was fresh and crunchy. Meat had a mix of curry and lemongrass flavour it was tender as well. Iced coffee was delicious. I'm obsessed with Ca Phe Sua Da that it's one of my favourite summer drink. Mango Pudding was great. It tasted fruity and sweet. I better go back to try other Banh Mi sandwiches one day. Make sure you get loyalty card for a free sandwich. Tried out a banh mi after seeing the amazing reviews and was a bit disappointed with what I had tonight :( I got their lemongrass chicken and although there is a nice portion of meat for the price, I felt that it lacked flavour. I had started to eat it about 3 hours later so the bread was not very good and assumed that it was the time lag but I went home and toasted it and it was 10X better. Surprisingly good banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) place in the middle of nowhere New Westminster. Parking here is really weird. Not many free spots during the day, but the place closes very early, before spots free up. Definitely not good for drivers. The inside is very bare, like a food court. Not sure if it's always like this, but the place was also really really humid inside. So much so that the glass was all fogged up. The place is also really small, with some 5 seats inside against the front window. This is obviously a takeout place. Staff (mom and pop?) are friendly and efficient. Sandwiches are in the $5 range, which is reasonable. Food is excellent. The sandwich was spicy and hit the spot, and the iced coffee (Vietnamese style) is just like the real deal. Hands down the best banh mi in New Westminster and probably in Metro Vancouver. The banh mi comes very close to those I had in Vietnam. The baguette is very similar - crusty outside and airy soft inside. This means you will be hungry a few hours later. I always get the house special which is so good, but it will be even better if it has the same mystery meat and pate as served in the banh mi in Ho Chi Minh. I like to add the hot sauce and hoisin sauce to give it a bit of oomph. And get the Vietnamese coffee too. It is so good. Prices are still reasonable as they stay under $10 for the banh mi and coffee. Affordable meal in the New West area. I hope it remains the same. It has a small bar counter for dining it. Otherwise get it to go. But if you do, eat it fast as it will be a bit soggy after a few hours. The owners are lovely and very accommodating and friendly too. I would have liked some slices of jalapeño. The taro and banana tapioca coconut milk dessert was alright. I do think banana made it more interesting. There were a couple large pieces of taro and a few slices of banana mixed in with tapioca and coconut milk. The mango pudding was average. If you want to eat the mango pudding with your meal, I suggest ordering a combo (includes drink, sandwich and mango pudding). When we decided to get dessert here after finishing our sandwiches, I noticed the combo options and you save a little bit of money. They accept credit card payment which is always convenient. I always go to the Banh Mi bar. Really great price and taste for what they serve. They have a friendly staff, super accommodating. Just a note if you're a spicy food person, let the workers know to not add jalapeño and sriracha. I'm not sure why but it seems to be an automatic thing to add. I told the person once to not put anything spicy in it. I took my sandwich home and it ended up having these spices, but I scraped it off. Might have been an accident as well. The food is amazing. I've tried banh mi at a lot of different places around the lower mainland, and banh mi bar has easily been the best place. I've tried everything off the menu and all of it has been great. The wraps are really good and huge and very worth the price. The house special is really good and usually what I recommend people to try, but honestly anything you get is going to be great. The coffee is great as well and they make it to order, the milk tea has been really great too, I've had to turn around after taking a sip to buy a second one because I knew I'd need another one after finishing my first. The service is really good as well, the guy working there has always been very friendly and made the food quickly and efficiently especially since he is the only one working so he has to work the till and take orders on top of everything. It's a small location and they do have limited seating that can fit about 3 people at a time, so that does make it a more take out place, although with it being downtown new West there is a lot of places within walking distance that you can go and sit down and eat while enjoying the weather. This is my favorite lunch place for a quick bite! The subs are very fresh tasting and flavourful. I've only ordered one thing, the vegan sub, which comes with a variety of vegetables and is really tasty. You can have it with jalapeño or without, same with the sauces available. It's really quick to order and take out, expect to wait five minutes tops, even if there are others waiting. Friendly staff and good service. Decided to explore a little out of my normal area in search for some good bahn mi! Located in a small airy shop near the rail station, it's pretty accessible spot. And I was endeared that even though I was there about 15 minutes before closing, they still asked if I wanted to eat there or take it to go. Many places wouldn't give you that option. I opted to take it with me and got some hoisin and sirracha to go as well. Bread was toasted, good amount of tender marinated meat and veggies were added, the pate was awesome, and it was nice to be able to add just the right amount of sauce wanted. Greeted by two lovely people working. There is a vegan option for non meat eaters. I got the chicken sub and iced coffee. Service was quick so great for takeout. Chicken sub was on a crispy bun and I got jalapeños in it which gave it nice heat. Great $5 sub option instead of the usual Subway. Iced coffee was strong and not too sweet. Great subs. Easy. Vietnamese. Cheap! They take debit and credit and cash. They have canned pops. Nice crusty buns with soft insides. All subs come with pepper jalapeños and cilantro unless you tell them to leave it out. It's pretty tasty and it was banging when I got in there. There is a small bar to eat at, but I took my sandwich to go. It's good. It's good for what it is. I prefer a BBQ chicken bahn mi but this really doesn't disappoint at all. One could easily miss this place. It's a tiny, unpretentious shop located on a side road in New Westminster. You could easily drive by and not think much of it purely on how it looks and where it's located. That would be a big mistake. Hands down, this has got to be one of the best bahn mi in the Lower Mainland, even better than some of the more well-known ones along Kingsway's Little Saigon area. This restaurant is owned and run by a nice couple. Other Yelpers have commented that they serve up very authentic bahn mi and I agree. The buns are freshly baked and made properly: light, flaky, and crunchy on the outside, soft and just the right amount of chew on the inside. I've had both the House Special as well as the meat ball. Both were super delish! The proportions of meat and veggies were bang on. You can tell right away that the ingredients they use are all homemade. While their subs are just like the ones in Vietnam, I've been told that the owners are actually locals. Couldn't tell since, based on the high quality of the food, I would have assumed the friendly and pleasant couple would have been born and raised in Vietnam, and where they would have learned all of the secrets of what goes into a great banh mi! The banh mi is good to bring home to eat, however I'd heat it up in the oven a little if you want the extra crispyness. I'd highly recommend the house special if you want something extremely flavourful! The cafe sua da (vietnamese iced coffee) is also delicious if you want to try vietnamese iced coffee for the first time! The owners put a lot of condensed milk, so the coffee isn't as bitter as how it is traditionally made. Therefore, this is a great place to try the iced coffee for the first time, as you won't be shocked with the sharp bitterness. The ice to drink ratio is also perfect! The salad rolls are also delicious, however due to preference, if you're vietnamese, you'll probably enjoy making salad rolls at home more, so that you can customize it to your liking. read more

Love these folks and love their Vietnamese subs! They're conveniently located right off the SkyTrain. The house special and cold cut are my faves. The owners are super friendly and always make an effort to engage in conversation with their customers, which is what sets them apart from their competitors.
