Best pho in town!!!! Ok, the only pho in town that I know of and I'm glad it is here. Pho is one of my favorite hangover cures. I never really thought about getting pho just because I had a hangover but for some reason I just crave it the morning after a long night of drinking. As others have pointed out already not the best atmosphere in the restaurant, but I was much more interested in the pho that what the restaurant looked like. The service was fine as I really just wanted to be left alone with my pho. So of course I had the pho with flank steak and a Vietnamese coffee. When I first tasted the pho I thought it had too much clove in it, but after adding my usually amount of sriracha, which is always a lot, the clove really was just right. Well, I think I'm a fan...I've never, ever had Vietnamese food, so I have nothing to compare it to. I ran in here on a whim and wasn't disappointed. I had no idea what I was ordering, I had a general idea of what the spring rolls were. I ordered the pork and shrimp spring rolls, hated them, I do not like mint all that much and they were full of it, which is fine, I was experimenting, I expect that sort of thing. If I had planned the visit, I would've done my research on what is common with this particular cuisine, and probably would've avoided the spring rolls. The other dish I ordered was the grilled shrimp over vermicelli, which was DELICIOUS!!! It had mint in it, but not so much that it was overpowering...I also enjoyed the lemongrass flavor...it's very light food and I can't wait to go back and try something else now that I've familiarized myself with it's menu. read more

Best, most authentic pho anywhere near Tyler. They may not have the variety of ingredients and other dishes one would find in a major metro area Vietnamese restaurant, but the broth is excellent. This mom and pop operation beats other wanna-be-Vietnamese chains in the area hands down. read more

I had the spring rolls and the "special soup" pho, which comes with flank steak, beef brisket, and meatballs. I also had the jasmine iced tea. Everything was amazing!! The spring rolls are pretty minty but still very good. The pho was delicious but like someone else said, the meat portions are pretty small. Which I don't mind at all because it kept the whole bowl on the lighter side. I ate about half of the pho and was able to save the rest for another lunch. I'll definitely go back again, and absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to get their pho on! read more

The short story: Having visited Vietnamese Pho restaurants in many different cities throughout the USA, I can say without reservation, that the Pho I received at this restaurant was poor to fair, the service was just as bad. The rest of the story: My wife and I visited this establishment on a Wednesday evening in January about 7:00 pm. We were immediately struck by how empty the place was, only one couple was there. No one greeted us or even yelled a friendly "hello" or "seat yourself". Nevertheless, we chose an empty table, all were empty save for one, and looked over the menu that was placed at each setting on every table. After an extended period exceeding 10 minutes a waiter finally appeared to take our order. We both ordered #15 which is Pho soup with Flank steak. The waiter left and shortly returned to inform us that bean sprouts were not available. Another 15 minutes passed and he showed up with our soup AND FINALLY our water. Pho soup is a complex clear broth with a multitude of flavors including beef, onion, ginger, star anise, cloves, and cinnamon among others. The soup takes all day to make and after simmering a huge amount of these ingredients together, you throw them all away, leaving you with a complex broth that you then clarify so that is nearly clear like water. The soup we received was nothing at all like the soup I just described. The soup we received was cloudy and although edible, was very simple, more like beef bullion with some spices tossed in to fool those unaccustomed to authentic Vietnamese Pho. Furthermore, there was very little meat of any kind in the soup. Usually Pho is served with 1 inch wide, paper thin slices of raw meat which cook in the broth as it is brought to your table. The few pieces served to us were very small and overcooked. Pho is usually served with raw Jalapeños slices on the side so the diner can add a bit of heat if desired. No Jalapeño slices were served to us this night. Did I mention that bean sprouts were not available either? Poor quality food and poor service gets no more than 2 stars in my opinion. If you want decent Pho in East Texas you are out of luck. Authentic Pho restaurants can be found in Dallas or Houston. read more

I love this place!! The spring rolls are so fresh and the jasmine tea is amazing. I always get the Garlic Shrimp with Vermicelli noodles and it's always light and fresh. The service isn't always perfect but the people that own the place are very nice and always make top quality food. It's very clean. read more

The food smelled like a wet Dog and I am not trying to gross you out.....I ordered grilled chicken and fried rice and the lady brought me Pork.....I ask her where is my chicken she said that is chicken........I took a bite and no it was not chicken...Then she tried to tell me that I ordered Pork which I did not......I then just tried to eat my friend rice...it was horrible I could not get over the SMELL ....WET Dog I could not do it I got up and left....Will never return..... read more

HORRIBLE! Bad service, brown limes, no jalapeños, no chili sauce., mushy, stuck together noodles. The pho didn't even taste good. We couldn't finish it. I guess it didn't help that when we asked for chopsticks, the owner basically threw them at us and never said a word. Oh, and we rang the bell and waited 10+ minutes for her to quit jabbering in the back and come accept our payment. We should have just walked out. We truly hated our experience. read more

My husband and I are regulars at Pho, we love the food and their tea! The food is light, refreshing, and delicious! The owner's always take good care of us and know our orders before we even sit down. The only drawback is that sometimes they close unexpectedly for family purposes, which is a big inconvenience when you drive across town. Call ahead if you are coming from further away. Service was bad and owner was rude. Took forever to get a table and no one was there. Food was very low quality. They use the cheapest ingredients. Pho had hardly any noodles or meat. Don't even think about ordering the fried rice. It looked like they threw yesterday soggy rice and tried to fry. I ordered mine with shrimp amd they were the size of dimes. I have been here a few times in the past couple months and it definitely fills a void I have had since leaving the DFW area back in 2008. I've tried a few of the pho dishes there and so far it has all been very good. Prices are very reasonable as well. There's plenty of seating available and we went in with 7 of us a couple weeks ago and they were quick to help us push a couple tables together. read more

I've been eating here nearly every week for the past few years. The #14 Special Soup/Pho with a #3 Pork Spring Rolls (they are actually summer rolls) never gets old for me. I've tried many a pho place over the years and this is still my favorite - and conveniently right here in Tyler! Yummy pho. Actually the only pho place in town which is unfortunate. I've only eaten here once and it was very good. The only issue I have is the way the place seems to me is never open? 1st time my husband and I went they were closed because of a family emergency on the front door it said. Which fine that is understanding, no big deal. We live out in the country we'll come back next time. 2nd time was actually on a Thursday around 4:45.Was in town wanted to go have some pho. Drove there saw the open sign on and went to open the door and it was locked. Checked the sign hours, that said they were open. Their pho is awesome, the service is good, the only issue I have is the confusion of when they are ever really open?! That gets frustrating as a hungry person wanting pho and not ever knowing if the place is gonna be open. read more

Well, pho is alive and well in Tyler! I had pho with flank steak, brisket and meatballs. I used to live in Dallas, and I would go to a pho and bakery shop and have at it....the pho here is of that quality. It comes with sweet basil leaf and bean sprouts with lime wedges. Ask for fish sauce, because it's not at the table like in Dallas. I had grilled shrimp spring rolls and a beef salad with Vietnamese clover. And, of course, the obligatory iced coffee with condensed milk. I'm an unrepentant chili head, and I love the heat, but be aware that their chili vinegar sauce is healthy. The pho had star anise and cinnamon in the beef broth, really tasty. read more

Don't walk, run to this place and you will not be disappointed. The Special Soup is what you need to go for. Asian noodle soup with brisket, flank steak, and meatballs I have had lots of authentic asian food, and from what I've tried so far, this is one of the only examples here in Tyler. For those of you who have never tried Pho (vietnamese noodle soup), when it comes out, you want to add a handfull of bean sprouts, tear off a bunch of the basil leaves and throw those in, squeeze the lime juice in, then squeeze a generous amount of Hoisin Sauce and (if you love spice) the Sriacha hot sauce. Then stir it all up and use your chopsticks to separate the noodles and ENJOY! Literally the best bowl of food you could hope for. Warm, spicy, flavorful, it is like eating in health, especially if you are a tad under the weather. And at about 475 calories a bowl, its Asian food you don't have to feel guilty about eating. Make your way there soon and believe me, it is better than any Texanized Chinese or Japanese food you may have had!!! The Vietnamese Egg Rolls are a yummy appetizer as well! read more
