Danny came to my house to repair the garage door. He seemed honest, really soft spoken and kind. He…read moresaid I'll only charge you for what's needed to be repaired. After fixing our door he suggested we get the springs changed because they're old and it'll eventually snap. He gave me 2 prices. One for basic and one for heavy duty. We were hesitant as it was expensive. He said let me call my boss and see if you can get a discount. Literally minutes later he said we can get a deal with the heavy duty. We moved forward with it. When he was done he said we should also get a new motor. He can give me a discount as well. At this point my husband was working and I said I'm not going to make big financial decisions without him. Later, my husband went to inspect the work and saw that the springs used were not heavy duty, they're color coded. He called and asked for the manufacture of the springs to confirm durability which they refused to disclose. He was then quickly offered a partial refund. Due to this experience my husband left a negative review. We originally chose this company because of the positive yelp reviews and felt we wanted people, like us, to be forewarned. Now they are calling us from multiple phone numbers, came to my house while my husband was at work, and left us a threatening voicemail if we do not call them back. Needless to say, as a woman with small children, I do not appreciate the unexpected visitor. This harassment has been going on for days. They threatened to come with the police and lawyers because they're not going to service us anymore. I don't understand as the service has been done and paid. We will no longer work with you in the future. We've already looked into calling our local police department if this harassment continues and have saved our call logs, Google doorbell camera videos, truck license plate number, and voicemails. If we need to, we will contact the BBB. Under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CFRA) this form of retaliation is illegal for businesses to behave as such. It's a shame instead of learning from their review and doing better for their customers they choose harassments and threats.

Aggressive Upsell and Worthless "Warranty"…read more TLDR: they will aggressively upsell you to replace things that aren't broken, promising a seven year warranty. But when something they install doesn't work, it's total crickets. Longer version: Little over a year ago, the spring on my garage door broke. Should be a couple hundred dollar job. These guys come out and the upsell starts right away: Upsell 1: they say I should replace the springs on both doors, even though only one was broken. Upsell 2: they then aggressively sold me to replace both openers even though both still worked. Their pitch was that the openers were old, that if I replaced them now, they would give me a great deal and then I wouldn't have to worry about my garage doors for years to come. They specifically emphasized that they stood behind their work with a seven year warranty. Their prices are definitely on the higher side for the industry. So what should have been a couple hundred dollar job turned into a bill over $4,000. Fast forward to current day. One of the openers they put in starts not working. I call, they come out. And the very first thing they recommend is: Upsell 3: They claim there's nothing wrong with the opener. It's something with my doors. The red flags were definitely there. Because I know that door moves up and down smoothly. But they insist this is the problem, which they then fix for $1000. (Well above market rates). So now I'm into these guys for $5000. And a day later, the opener stops working again. They come out, leave. Problem remains. They come out again. Problem remains. It is absolutely obvious that the opener is defective, and if they stood behind their 7-year warranty, they would put a new one in. But they won't. So I'm down $5000 for a job that probably should have cost 50% of that if I had taken my time and gotten multiple quotes and dealing with a doubly dangerous situation (the door stays open so thieves can get into my garage, and there is a risk of it coming down and injuring someone). They then finally replace the opener, but with a vastly inferior version with less power and less features. The reason? Because they're losing money by doing warranty work! Seriously, what's the point of the warranty then. I'm not saying you should never use these guys, but if you do, take the following advice: 1. Make SURE you get a quote, including from a big box store like HD, before you buy their upsell. You may find a significant price difference. 2. Take any warranty claim with a huge grain of salt.

DO NOT CALL PIONEER DOOR. It is no longer the same Pioneer Door -- the company was bought out by…read moreanother company called GDI. Again, DO NOT call Pioneer Door expecting the same honest service and fair pricing they were known for before. I used Pioneer Door for over 20 years and always received great service and fair prices. Recently, my garage door broke and I needed help ASAP, so naturally I called Pioneer Door because they had always been my go-to garage company. Instead, a company called GDI showed up. They completely ripped me off. Yes, I should have shopped around more -- that part is my fault -- but the reason I didn't is because I trusted the Pioneer Door name and expected the same fair treatment I had received for decades. The technician convinced me to replace my opener with a LiftMaster 2420L. He told me it was a "$600-700 professional line opener" that I wouldn't find at Lowe's or Home Depot because it was supposedly a contractor-only model with special manufacturer pricing. That turned out to be completely false. After installation, I had trouble setting up MyQ and spent 3 days trying to connect it to Wi-Fi. While researching how to fix it, I discovered the exact same LiftMaster 2420L opener sells for around $350 at Lowe's, Walmart, and other stores. It's also just a basic opener -- nothing "pro line," upgraded, or special about it. So GDI sold me a basic opener for roughly DOUBLE the retail price while misleading me into believing it was some exclusive contractor-only model. I ended up paying $1,300 installed for a LiftMaster 2420L. After calling around afterward, I found out I overpaid by about $500. $1,300 is after me trying to negotiate the cost lower--they originally wanted $1,400 + TAX. Instead, they put 8 new caster wheels on and gave me an extra remote to make me feel better--until I found out how much I got ripped off. To make matters worse, they even installed the safety sensors incorrectly. The green light sensor should be installed on the same side as the wall control so you can easily verify if something is blocking the beam. I had to call them back out a THIRD time just to correct that. What makes this even more frustrating is that I specifically told the technician I was not prepared to spend $1,300 and thought I was only looking at a couple hundred dollars in repairs. He convinced me to replace my existing Marantec opener because he claimed parts from Germany were hard to get and that repairing it would cost more than installing a new opener. That is the ONLY reason I agreed to replace it. I did not upgrade because I wanted some fancy new opener -- I did it because the technician made it sound like replacing it was the most cost-effective option. I trusted the Pioneer Door name and got burned. The two technicians (Josh, Nick) who came out for the installation, helped with MyQ, and reinstalled the sensors also asked me to leave them a 5-star review so they could earn additional compensation. It's pretty wild that after trying to overcharge a customer, they'd still ask for a positive review to make extra money. I understand everyone is trying to earn a living, but it's frustrating to feel ripped off and then be expected to leave a glowing review so they can receive commission. Clearly, the concern for the customer's wallet just isn't there anymore. This isn't the Pioneer Door I've been doing business with for over 20 years. Time to move on to another shop.

Fixed my…read moreissues and then some - excellent service, quality work, great prices - he really made a potentially stressful (and expensive) situation easy to handle and left my door opener in better condition than he found it! I initially requested a quote via Yelp's "project" panel, describing my issue and I had a next-day appointment secured with Greg by the end of the day! Based on my limited description of the issue, Greg was able to provide me with a thorough quote - actually 3 separate quotes for all the potential issues that might be causing my malfunction. Greg gave me a 2 hour time frame for the appointment and texted me early and showed up right on time at the beginning of the window - very prompt! He diagnosed and fixed my issue so quickly and even made sure my opener was lubricated appropriately and running even better than before - above and beyond! He doesn't try and push a bunch of unnecessary services or equipment on you - he's a real straight shooter and it was so refreshing! He was a joy to chat to and work with. And his prices just can't be beat - very reasonable! It's so rare nowadays to come away feeling satisfied with value for price - I was so impressed. Greg did explain that Yelp doesn't always notify him of quote requests and that texting is best for the fastest reply - which it does specify on his website (see attached photo). He also accepts all forms of payment - credit cards, checks, cash, and even Zelle or Venmo! They've recently relocated the business from Monrovia to Rancho Cucamonga - but the bulk of his clients are in Monrovia and he definitely still services this area - lucky for me lol! We are beginning renovations on our house and will definitely be reaching out to Greg when we're ready to redo our garage doors - highly recommend!! Tysm Greg!
